this morning on the kron4 morning news fire and the delta force is people from kimball island . that there still burning this morning. we have the latest. we began with the latest from the delta. firefighters are still on scene this morning putting out hotspots from the fire on kim wahl island. the fire started yesterday afternoon around 230 and has burned three homes and over 40 a.. this is video from a

helicopter partnership with abc seven news. heavy smoker the fire was seen from nearby antioch. the fire required air and water support from the u.s. coast guard and cal fire. crews from five different agencies from the area was called in to help. witnesses said the fire started at the boat ramp and spread from one end of the island to the other. officials said all 15 people who live on the island were evacuated safely. the only way to get to the island is by boat and firefighters say that is what made fighting this fire especially difficult. the fire and the delta comes at the same time with a high fire danger warning is in effect in many sections of the bay area. this is due to the unseasonably dry and warm weather. many fire officials say, these conditions are usually only seen during summer's peak fire season. and they're most concerned with vegetation that is close to

homes because of how quickly a fire can spread. the high fire danger warning has the alameda county fire department on high alert. they're stepping up patrols of potential trouble areas using a pair of fire prevention vehicles. one major area of concentration centers around dublin inspiration drive. the alameda county fire department coverage area is approximately 520 square miles and they say, the entire area is a danger zone when there is a high fire alert. the flu has taken the lives of two other people in the bay area. that brings the total number of deaths to 17 in nine bay area counties. breaking it down by country--county for you. contra costa and san francisco counties have one reported death. marin and sonoma have to deaths. there have been three flu deaths and san mateo county. and also 3 in alameda county. for in santa clara county. and these numbers do not

for 14 is the time. an 11 year-old boy remains in critical condition this morning after a school shooting in seat in new mexico. cnn's andrew spencer reports police are investigating reports the shooter may have won some students not to show up to school that day. a medical helicopter took the victim to a hospital in texas. a student and the jim saw it happen. >>: we were all talking and we hear gunshots. and then

418. on to some national news. new jersey gov. chris christie try to regain his political footing during his apologetic state of the state speech yesterday. but the real person that judge reason those plants were closed on the george washington bridge remains a mystery. as to state investigators and federal inquiry grant up three series have emerged. the most prominent theory being that it was political retribution from office toward fourth lead mayor mark sokolich for not endorsing christie and his reelection bid. another theory involves democratic state senator majority leader loretta weinberg. fort lee is in her district. weinberg and the democrats had been in a bitter political fight with christie over their blocking of his state supreme court nominees.

a fire in palo alto that killed two people on friday night has there ruled accidental. the fire at a home on embarcadero road near cedar lane started inside the kitchen. investigators say either an electrical appliance or burning cigarettes sparked a fire. the medical examiner's office found no indication the deaths were the result of suicide or homicide according to police. the identities of the victims and for residents of their autopsies have not been made public. we will take a quick break and

are falling out of milpitas will let late last night in man was murdered outside a hotel. kron4's will tran is live at the scene. >>will:, investigators will be here throughout the entire morning. the victim was a man between the ages of 20 in 25 years old. they don't know at this point if he was a guest at the executive and or was visiting someone at the time. it appears that multiple shots were fired. he was hit at least one time. his body remains on the scene in right now they're waiting for the coroner's office to a ride to identify him. no witnesses appear although there were obviously gas inside at the time. all they're looking for is a generic description. whoever shot this person left in a dark color sedan. homicide investigators will let people leave if they need to. among the scene and will collect more information as the morning moves along. for now reporting from milpitas will tran kron 4 news.

for commuters and east bay 3 developing right now on interstate east 80. all lanes are closed at the berkeley curve and at 4 kron4's jackie cecil is live now with the latest. jackie looking you tell us. >>: it's a strange story of tier i can tell you right now if you're coming off the bay bridge had it tore berkeley, or emeryville you can get there because you can see traffic is stopped out here right now. it's been that way for about 45 minutes, and it's all because of this light pole that's down here. it into a car resting on top of it. according to chp they said an hour ago a car hit this light pole and drug it. look how far back the car is that actually get the light pole. his way back there. apparently he knocked down the pole several other cars hit the pole and drawn into the lanes of east bound 80. you can see a car up there on the flatbed and also another car that's resting on top of the poll. if all in all 10 cars involved in

bay coming up at 515. thank you erica. one of the bay area's safest city's is dealing with its first murder of the year. the victim was shot at a motel just off of 237 and 6- 80. kron 4's will tran is live at the scene with the details. also on the scene are homicide investigators and you can see behind me, they're in their parking lot with multiple markers permit multiple shots were fired. we do know the victim was hit at least one time. he died at the scene. his body still at the scene. they're waiting for the coroner's office to arrive to run release the identification. obviously guess were inside at the time. the only witness it was very vague they've been able to tell is that whoever shot this person left in a dark color of saddam. the victim's name not be released at this time. we do know it was a man between 20 and 25 years old. investigators are working to see if he was a
