skies however it is pretty chilly for isolated valleys. do not be surprised if the temperatures will be below freezing in your neighborhood today. right now however we are a little warmer than 24 hours ago. santa rosa is at 32 degrees. low to mid 40's along the east bay shoreline. as we head into afternoon we are talking about the possibility of a record- breaking one. we saw 70's yesterday. today, things will be in the '70s once again. upper 60s for places like downtown san francisco and 70 for san jose. letter on tonight we are born to get cooler conditions. by 8:00 p.m. most locations will be in the low to mid 50s. we will keep clear skies so overall will have very mild conditions. >> the 7 day around the bay

and highway one. there are no problems or delays for westbound 580 approaching the dublin interchange. >> one person is dead and another injured. after being hit by a cal-train near the santa clara station. caltrain officials are still trying to piece together what happened on the tracks yesterday evening. kron 4's jeff bush has the latest. >> caltran officials stated that the two men were on the tracks between the north bound platform. this is when the san francisco train came through the station a full speed. >> there was no scheduled stop. >> the train could have been traveling about 70 mi. per hour when it went through. you could see in this video

by abc 7 news that investigators were gathering clothes and the big question there remains to be answered is why the two men were on the tracks in the first place. >> there will be a lengthy investigation because the circumstances are very unusual. we need to understand what went wrong with the two victims and whether or not there was something more that needs to be investigated. >> one gentleman was waiting for his train when he saw the whole thing went down. >> i was just in disbelief. you do not think something like this will happen. >> this person was looking around for something. it just surprise me pri >> officials stated that every train has a camera on the front and they're hoping that they can get information when they get a copy of the video. they're hoping to find out once they interview the man that is in the hospital.

>> jeffs bush, in santa clara, kron 4 news. >> new this morning. a police chase in the east bay dance with the issue out. at least one person was shot. information is still coming in. here is what we know right now, the chase ended at east 15th street and 57 avenue in oakland. at least one of the men involved in the chase was shot. no word if the bullet came from an officer's gun. we have a cruel way to the scene. >> an oakland mother is devasted after lossing both her sons to violence in the pass three weeks. dinyal new lost her 13 year old son lee weathersby on new year's eve when he was walking home from the oakland boys and girls club. and this past sunday, her 19 year old lamar broussard was shot and killed inside a car at 100th ave and longfellow. dinyal says lamar was a

student at laney college and is working to turn his life around. as dinyal continues to mourn the lost of her sons, she is sending a strong message out to her community. >> note retaliation or whoever is called the justice system through the court it would just heard another mother just like it is hurting me. >> oakland police have not released the motive for both shootings in and do not have any leads. >> traveling across the

>> welcome back. oakland city councilmember and mayoral candidate libby schaaf was the target of negative fliers posted sunday in the city's montclair district. the flier features a photograph of schaaf, who is jewish, with a nazi swastika plastered on her forehead-- and it appears to be connected to her support of a controversial citywide surveillance system. the image has sparked strong feelings among residents. >> that is just pure patriots.a patriot. >> ".get rid of it"

>> welcome back. a 3.6 magnitude earthquake hit near the geysers in sonoma county early this morning. the temblor was reported at 3:11 a.m. about 5 mi. northwest of geysers, near harrisburg. the report of any damage. >> high winds and blowing snow are creating dangerous driving conditions across parts of north dakota this morning. and they're expected to stay that way through most of the week. you can hear just how powerful those winds are. bismark could pick up another inch of snow this week -- but as you can see -- that inch of snow could lower visibility even more on the roads. and here's more video out of north dakota. this is fargo. if you think this is bad, more heavy snow and freezing weather is headed to the east coast and mid-atlantic states. forecasters say the winter storm could bring up to 10 inches of new snow and wind chills as low as 10 below zero.

weather. >> the traffic around the bay, this is a great time to leave your home. yesterday we had very light traffic due to the holiday but today we should return to normal traffic patterns today. here's a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. at the san mateo bridge will not have any problems getting towards the freeway as of right now we're not seen a backups at the toll plaza. all was well in the south bay and the drive time right now is that 23 minutes. >> two people were killed in an explosion in an animal feed plant in omaha. right now, rescuers are looking for the body of the second victim at international nutrition, one body was recovered yesterday. the search was stopped after bad weather and an unstable structure. investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the explosion that collapsed the building's 2nd and 3rd floors. ten other workers were

injured. >> legal experts say a trial for national security agency leaker edward snowden could expose more classified information as his lawyers try to build a case in open court that the operations he exposed were illegal. snowden would face criminal charges for leaking information about nsa surveillance programs if he ever returned to the u.s. snowden surely would try to turn the tables on the government, arguing that its right to keep information secret doesn't outweigh his constitutional right to speak out. >> >> a mistake. but not a catastrophe. that's what russia is calling the united nation secretary general's decision to uninvite iran to syria talks. russia's foreign minister says the general's move reflects negatively on the u.n. iran has been the main regional ally of syria and has provided money and material since 2011.

from chinese factories. the plumes are settling in ballots across california and other western states. the report stated that the wind can move the pollution in just a matter of days. shourd seems to confirm this from 2010. researchers from uc-berkeley analyzed air samples and determined that 29 percent of our air pollution comes from china. researchers pointed out that most of their pollution still comes from our own cars and refineries. that added can add contamination. they hope that this new information will help policy makers track, more clean-air trees. >> charles clifford, kron 4 news. >> the big waves turned deadly in marin county yesterday. a fisherman is dead-- after getting dragged into the ocean by the strong waves and current.

>> welcome back. it's a tradition that comes with a hefty price tag. two local organizations are teaming up to make sure teens can afford to go to prom. the fairfield youth commission and fairfield police activities league are collecting gently used items to allow teen boys and girls to dress up for the big event. donations of dresses, dress suits, tuxedos and any other prom accessories will be accepted at 2195 union avenue. both organizations are also collecting donations of professional clothing for students to use for interviews and other occasions. >> petaluma police are looking for this woman who tried to fill fake prescriptions at a c-v-s

pharmacy last week. pharmacist say she tried to fill the prescription for norco and oxycodone at the c-v-s on east washington street. the pharmacist became suspicious after she could not verify the prescriptions and also they were written out to a male patient. the woman left the store after she couldn't get the medications. police said the pharmacist later found out that the prescription note had been stolen from the john muir behavior health clinic in concord. >> navorro bowman is believed to have suffered a torn acl and mcl in his left knee on his recovered fumble play in the 4th quarter of sunday's game bowman will be out for nine month and could miss the 2014 season linebackers coach leavitt says he's optimistic bowman will return next season but with acl's in really depends on the individual also lost was pro-bowl offensive guard mike iupati who broke his left ankle in
