we begin with a developing story this morning. the security breach at yahoo. an unspecified number of yahoo e-mail's users have been told their accounts were compromised and their user names and passwords need to be reset. kron4's jeff bush has more from yahoo headquarters in sunnyvale. they would kron4 for more coverage of yahoos e-mail packing critical to our web site kron4 dot com and see the full block post from yahoo. we will also have

information on what to do if you've been hacked and tips on keeping your account 6. a man who turned a female relative into a sex slave for nearly 15 years is very close to a long prison sentence. authority's a 52 year-old raul ochoa of richmond started abusing the girl when she was 12. this is a crime scene photo of the backyard shed where she was a salted for many years. police say she was forced to help build the shed. they also say she was so-called elite under the man's control that when she was able to escape with the help of other relatives she went to police to ask for permission to move to another city instead of reported the abuse. ochoa pleaded not guilty after it pleaded guilty and is expected to be sentenced to 22 years in prison.

conserve water. that's the message the san francisco puc is telling the public today. the states extreme drought means low water levels at the hatch--hetch hetchy reservoir. the goal is to reduce water usage by 10%. an official announcement is expected later this morning. other california cities are also imposing restrictions. and the santa cruz mountains, lompico is now on the list of communities which could run out of water and two to four months. the roughly 500 residents there are being asked to cut their water use by at least 30%. and the community might soon have to buy water by the truckload. water managers have ruled out tapping surface water from lompico creek which is extremely low for this time of year.

although california is desperate for more snow fell in the sierra for the first time in what seems like forever. and residents welcomed with open arms. the tahoe area sought least half a foot of snow on the ground causing some slick road conditions. the crew's work fast to keep roads clear. skiers took advantage of the fresh snow hitting the slopes at tahoe resorts. overall people didn't seem to mind the cold conditions

there's a disturbing lack of moisture in the mountains. state officials measure the snowpack yesterday at kron4's charles clifford shows us what it found >>: on thursday the california department of water resources conducted its monthly snow survey and the news is not good. even the fresh snow has fallen in the mountains this week, it will be nearly enough to reverse the ongoing drought problem. this is video of survey crews working near phillip station just near highway 15 not too far from lake tahoe. here in measured at 12.4 in. of snow which is equal to one plan for inches of water content for the that the meager 7% of average for this location. e.w. are says based on its latest reading to the snow pack statewide is only 12 percent of average. that's the lowest level since the state started keeping records in 1960. that's also bad news for california's water supply. >>: were knocking it all starts to come through and without that runoff of the reservoirs are not going to refill and they're probably

>>: the man charged with killing a san francisco state student as he was getting off and many light rail vehicle will be in court this morning for a status update. investigators say nikhom thephakaysone killed justin valdez. tepkayson is charged with three felonies one count of murder with a personal discharge of a gun causing that enhanced allegation one count of assault with a semiautomatic handgun on a separate but some in an earlier assault that evening and one count of possession of illegal assault weapon stemming from one of the guns found in his home. he is currently being held without bail. murder charges have been filed against 14 year-old mario toliver junior. his

the oakland teenager accused of killing his sister last week. kron4 spoke with toliver's attorney who gave some insight about the boy. that he just seems like a scared young boy. he does not seem to wise beyond his age were he is sophisticated or adapt to street smart. the 16 year- old boy charged with setting sasha fleischmann of fire on an ac transit bus has pleaded not guilty. police say richard thomas confessed to setting fleshment skirt on fire back in november. thomas will be tried as an adult. fleischmann who does not identify with either gender was badly burned. it's been 25 years since her disappearance of the community in dublin still holding out hope that by allowing--ilene misheloff

for 37 is the time. a happy ending for a puppy rescued from a recycling plant. gem having a family and we have video of the new puppy finally arriving at his no home. the pulpit was found mixed in with the recycling just before christmas at the recology plant in san francisco. she spent the last month recovering from heart injury to looks like she's doing fantastic. yesterday gem finally went home with her new owner and recology employee actually who won a lottery for the chance to a doctor. >>: i can't wait to take her home and just play with her but i'm really excited i feel very lucky to have her and for her to join the

firefighters are here in the 54th block. is currently and in control. reporting have the amount of fire on this home just to make sure no hot spots pop back out. firefighters first got the call around 120 this morning after one of four people inside the home will go to find a fire. all four people inside did manage to get out safely but the fire on and off the home. they tell me it's really concentrated inside the garage. it took firefighters about 40 minutes to get the fire under control. one of the women inside the home this sustained minor burn injuries. and this morning crews remain here. arson investigators are here working to determine the cause of the fire. but at this point cruse tell me there's nothing suspicious. the tried to hit a forehand on the fire. back to you for it >>: 5 03. in san jose this

morning, one person is dead in a crash on highway 85. around 11-30 last night, the c-h-p was checking on a collision on northbound 85 near camden avenue. they found two vehicles hit each other. one of them flipped over. one person died at the hospital. investigators think one of the drivers was impaired and may have caused the accident. the almaden expressway on- ramp to northbound 85 was closed for several hours overnight. this morning. an attorney for the 14-year- old accused of killing his own sister is speaking out about the teen. murder charges have been filed against 14- year old mario toliver. he is the oakland teen accused of killing his sister, justice, last week. we spoke with toliver's attorney, and he gave us some insight about the boy. the alameda county d-a is reviewing whether toliver should be tried as an adult. my impression he is a 14 year-old boy. not a hardened criminal young man who is beyond his years in terms of

sophistication or street life mentality. he is scheduled to appear at a hearing in juvenile court this coming monday. >>darya: the latest storm to hit the bay area wasn't much. in fact, the rain we did get brought little help. so snow levels in the sierra still remain dangerously low. the latest survey shows the state's snowpack is at 12 time of year. only one and a half inches of rain was recorded from october through december. the lowest total on record dating back to 1895. the northern and central sierra snowpack provides about a third of the state's water supply. last year was also the state's driest year since records started being kept.

hundreds of drivers in the atlanta area have been reunited with their vehicles after that massive traffic jam caused by a winter snowstorm. but the impact from the storm is still being felt this morning. while state employees are reporting for work. several schools in atlanta are still closed today. crews continue to work to clear roads and deal with other storm related issues. georgia's governor is also taking the blame for poor planning and response leading up to the storm.

temperatures in the area are expected to reach the low 50's today, which should help crew clear the buildup high and dry. that's what conditions are like for marina operators at california reservoirs. the government's latest drought monitor report reveals that the state's water crisis has deepened dramatically. this latest map from the federal government shows nine percent of california is now experiencing what is classified as "exceptional drought." that's the most serious category. and the first time it's been recorded in

the salt lake city school district says it was a mistake it threw out 32 elementary students lunches. it happened *after cafeteria workers already gave them the food. parents say the move was humiliating and demoralizing. a district spokesperson says the lunches were thrown out because they could not be served to another student. the students affecte were later given fruit and milk. the assembly has passed a bill that would allow patients who lose their individual health insurance under the affordable care act to continue seeing a provider who is treating them for specific conditions the bill would apply to people receiving specific treatments whose policies are canceled between dec. 1 of last year and march 31 of this year. that pool could be as high as 900,000. the bill is urgent and would take effect immediately if

approved by the senate and signed by the governor. big news is coming today that could dictate the future of a controversial oil pipeline project. the results of an environmental impact study into the "keystone x-l" pipeline are due out this afternoon. a final decision may not come for several months. the results are seen as a key factor in determining whether the project will go ahead. if approved, the pipeline would carry 830-thousand barrels of oil a day from alberta, canada to the u-s gulf coast. supporters say the project would reduce oil imports from unstable nations -- and
