now with the latest. what happens is the mother and boyfriend make their first court appearance in a little bit later today. we will be there and corte obviously. in the meantime the community is just kobe try to understand exactly what happened. it is a a year ago cayley was a happy child. you can see the memorial right here in front of her apartment. it continues to grow. there are candles that have been burning for days now that goes up the staircase and she lived upstairs in a marked apartment unit no. 7 and there's her bicycle. people have told me that last year she got her bike. she was writing it in all of a sudden she stopped writing it. they said that was right around the same time that the boyfriend came to their lives. if this visual started ross saturday afternoon when the police department came here after they got a call from a welfare check. you could see people showing up even for a vigil as recently as yesterday afternoon. this is an apartment complex where there are a lot of families.

we say many children already this morning as their parents are heading to work. they are being dropped off to relatives or day care centers. we had a chance to talk with a man the this morning was a seven year old child. he says the two were friends agree that she and kelly were friends. then all of a sudden the moral pops up that the 22 together and that's when they understood that cayley was no longer here. try explaining that to the seven year old child. listen. >>: she's pretty sad about it. when i told her she asked me what happened but i didn't want to tell her but as soon as she sought a voice and loans or she knew that something happened to her. and she's telling sad. >>will: you are a father. how do you explain the concept of child and there for not being here anymore >>: it's not easy. you don't

suspect charged at one of the officers.forcing him to shoot. the suspect was taken to a hospital in vacaville with unknown injuries. police are looking for a man who allegedly followed two female teens in his car while touching himself. these are sketches of the man the two teens say they saw on january 18th in mountain view. the teens were walking on california street when a man driving a green, 4 dour

sedan parked next to them. after they kept walking, he appeared to follow them. he's described a white man between 25 and 30. he is about 300 pounds and has red hair, a short beard and pointy nose. he was last seen wearing a blue jacket with a knit cap that had a white tassel. the car is said to be an older model with a rear spoiler. a brutal day on wall street. investors are hoping for a much better day today. after the dow dropped more than 300 points yesterday. it's the biggest one day than seven months. here's a look at the closing numbers. the dow plunging 326 points. the nasdaq lost 106 points. and the s and p 500 was down 40 points. futures point to gains at this morning's opening. opening bell at 6-30. right now and redwood city. the high today at 56.

the toll plaza for the westbound a trip. earlier occuring problems in san francisco at the 28101 interchange. a stalled bus at the allegheny bus. >>: >>darya: thanks to george. a new proposed tax could increase soda prices by two cents-per-ounce in san francisco. it's set to be introduced today. the tax would affect soft drinks, as well as sports and energy drinks. if it's passed by the board of supervisors, it will go before local voters in november. officials estimate it could generate as much as 31- million dollars.

campaign organizers say money raised each year by the tax would go to fund recreation and nutrition programs. now to the latest on the death of oscar winning actor philip seymour hoffman. tests confirm there was heroin in at least some of the 70 plastic bags found in his new york apartment where he was found dead. police are now working to find out if the drug was mixed with anything else. they want to know if hoffman died from a potent cocktail of heroin and synthetic morphine fentanyl. there have been dozens of fentanyl laced heroin deaths across the northeast in recent months. investigators also found unused syringes, a charred spoon and several prescription medications. philip seymour hoffman visited coffee shop the day before he was found dead on wednesday, the broadway community will pay tribute to philip seymour hoffman by dimming its lights at 7:45 for one minute. hoffman was found dead in his new york apartment on sunday after an apparent drug overdose. the 46-year-old actor was a

miss. it's been out there for several months it when you come on here is the overriding part of the landscape. you could see it out there at treasure island. and just like you said he still don't know exactly what it is all we do know is it can stay where it's at. here's some video in the daytime to get a better look at it. there's been speculation on who owns the bart and we finally figured it out that google owned it. then it was what is it. is it a data center grid is a floating retell center. we still don't know exactly what it is but we do know that the state has issued orders that have to move from a pier 1 and treasure island. they said they now have the proper permits and they never did so they have to move it. as far as what's going to happen. there is some speculation and that they are working with the city of san francisco to get the proper permits and possibly move it over and to that location. we still haven't

popular social networking site that allows strangers to interact. herrera says, the pennsylvania- based company -- violates california laws -- by relying on legally invalid consent from minors -- ages 13 to 17 -- to reveal their personal information to strangers. the suit alleges that dozens of minors nationwide. have been targeted by predators and child stalkers. who prey on victims through the social networking site. the lawsuit is seeking a court order. to have meet- me -dot com follow state

doctor ordered a "coach or sitter" for spalding. and said to never leave her unattended. and when spalding did go missing. the sheriffs department did not search all the hospital stairwells. despite an order to do so. both the hospital and sheriff's office say they've made changes and improvements in the wake of spalding's death. a new report has been released by san jose state university. which details the alleged hazing of a 17- year-old african- american student. by his dormitory suite mates. the report says that for the most part, school officials responded appropriately, at least according to current school policy. it also notes, the alleged hazing may have continued
