warned that they may have ridden a train with someone who had the highly contagious measles virus. this person may have put thousands of bart riders at risk. kron-4's philippe djegal attended a public health meeting about the possible exposure. sa

but erika jenssen with contra costa public health says it's also highly preventable. most americans receive their measles shot twice before kindergarden and are then immune to the virus. the student in question, however, was not vaccinated prior to this trip overseas. health officials say symptoms don't start showing until sometimes up to three weeks after being infected. the student recently returned from asia and last week used bart to travel from the el cerrito del norte station to downtown berkeley to get to and from class. sot- erika jenssen, m.p.h/contra costa public health

the virus is airborne and contra costa public health says it could have remained in the bart trains for up to two hours after the student

disturbing video from late last month. a passenger on bart is tased by bart police. not just once. but twice. the man was reportedly defying police orders to leave the train. and now we know the man in the middle of the incident. which is raising questions about how it was handled. his name is robert asberry. he was arrested and released on the same night -- january 29th.

the initial complaint says, asberry was drunk and harassing passengers. one rider blogged about the incident, saying, the second time asberry was tased, police may have acted excessively by tasing

him for about five- seconds. but bart's police chief is asking the public to wait until all the facts are released before coming to any final conclusion. rainey says by internal affairs will review all video of the incident -- from the platform to the

and wholesaler. left coast grass fed says that while there have been no reported illnesses from their products, they are issuing the recall out of concern for the safety and health of their customers. rancho feeding corporation, the petaluma slaughterhouse currently under scrutiny by the u.s. department of agriculture, processes many left coast cattle. the usda has posted a list of more than 50 retail outlets in california and florida thought to have received shipments of the

the lights are back on this morning for thousands of people hit by the winter storm in the south and east coast.

but crews are busy trying to get service restored for more than a half million homes and businesses still without power. and there's also been a human toll. andrew spencer reports. in washington, d.c., the body of a man found dead, half-buried in the snow. he was a patient at a mental hospital who had wandered off days ago. in ashburn, virginia, a snow plow driver standing by his vehicle was struck and killed by a d-o-t dump truck; in brooklyn, new york, a man driving a bobcat, clearing snow from a parking lot, backs over a pregnant woman, killing her -- three of more than a dozen deaths

attributed to the winter storms. from louisiana to connecticut, the ice and snow cut power to well over half-a-million homes. officials think the weight of the wet snow may have been too much at this building in jersey city, new jersey. part of the roof collapsed onto about a dozen vehicles. ".everybody kind of parked inside so the plows could do their job on the outside, so there was double the amount of vehicles in there." "it's amazing. i think three guys got a couple little scratches then went to the hospital to get checked out, but nobody was seriously hurt."

the storms that hammered the south, this week, swept up the east coast -- the ice and snow piling even more problems on air travelers. "it's a hassle. i wasn't even informed of the cancellation until i was pretty much outside the airport." "i kept calling for the last cc two days trying to rebook, because i thought this was likely to happen, and they said that there was nothing available." according to flight-aware, nearly ten-thousand flights were canceled on wednesday and thursday.and into friday, that number only

state's worst dry spell in more than 100 years. the president will participate in a roundtable with community leaders,and witness firsthand some of the impacts on the region's agriculture. he will also deliver a statement about the ongoing response effort. then tonight the president will travel to rancho mirage, for a meeting with king abdullah of jordan. the man accused of the kidnapping and murder of morgan hill teen sierra lamar. has pleaded not

guilty to new charges. antolin garcia- torres was arraigned in a santa clara county superior court yesterday. a criminal grand jury indicted him earlier this week. the judge granted a motion by the defense. and ordered the transcripts in the case sealed. analysts say the reason why the d-a's office took the case to the grand jury was to avoid pre-trial publicity.

analysts say despite the media attention and invested community interest in the case, the district attorney wants to keep the case in the bay area. 15- year old sierra lamar went missing in 2012. while on her way to school. her body has not been found. an alert this morning for some residents on the peninsula. police in foster city want them to be aware of phone and e-mail scams that claim to be from the i-r-s. the scammers try to convince people to give them cash through moneypak cards.

they're reloadable debit cards that are widely available. and you can use them to pay for your phone, cable or credit card bill. scammers like them because the money is directly linked to the card and they're practically untraceable. soda packaging in california may be getting a *warning label . a new bill would require a warning label on the front of containers for sugary drinks. state senator bill monning just introduced the bill. the label would say. that

investigation for inappropriate behavior with adult interns. then yesterday morning, we brought you exclusive interviews with three men who say they were abused by garza nearly 20-years ago, when they were high school students and garza was their teacher. two of them reported the abuse to authorities. now kron 4's maureen kelly tells us how the victims say their claims were brushed aside allowing garza to avoid prosecution. it's a story you'll see only on four. i actually woke up with my shirt off and his hand, in my genitalia, on my

genitalia, you know, kind of caressing me and him sort of rubbing himself. he was their trusted high school teacher. they thought they were helping him with a science project involving young atletes.but it turned out to be a ruse.so he could victimize them. that's the claim coming from two men.i'm calling " peter" and "john" in order to protect their identities. they say they were juniors at cathedral high school , an all boys catholic school in el paso texas when they were recruited by garza to

peter and john told officials at their high school what garza did. they say at first little was done about it. they asked me what i wanted. i'm a junior in high school and they are wanting me to make the decision as far as how the thing was handled. it was sort of swept under the rug and nothing really

came of it after that. the victims say school officials merely ordered garza to stay away from them. but someone leaked the story to the media, and it made headlines in 1994. the newspaper article you see here does not name garza. it states that cathedral high school put the accused teacher on administrative leave. after the incident made the paper, garza left cathedral. the students say they were shunned by some of their classmates for driving away a popular teacher. i felt like people looked at me, like i had created

this. those in charge at cathedral high when the incidents took place have since died. the current administrators there had no comment. because both incidents happened across state lines the victims say the fbi was brought in. peter and john both remember being interviewed by a federal agent but as far as they know the case wasn't persued. the fbi said without any sort of proof you can't just say hey you caught him

feeling you up and saw him feeling himself up and then extrapolate that he raped you i remember saying then, that i bet you this will happen again if somebody doesn't dig into it further and they just said they couldn't at that point. we asked el paso, texas police and the fbi to search their records for garza's name but nothing turned up. a man claiming to be a former associate of garza's

from that time says garza was afraid peter and john's allegations would keep him from being admitted into stanford medical school. he not only got inhe stayed there his entire career, eventually becoming a popular associate professor and respected researher in sports medicine. you can see him here examining a college athlete, in this video posted on youtube. "peter" and "john" weren't surprised he was once again put in a position of being able to influence
