this morning on the kron 4 morning crews, san francisco police are on the lookout for a shooter in the heart of the city's downtown shopping area, we are bringing you the latest details. a deadly hit-and-run, and why witnesses believe it was intentional. and taking a look at our camera live on this monday morning, we are waking up to areas of fog once again, details on bay area weather. kron 4 news now. good morning. it is monday. february 17th, i am andy, it is president's day, maybe you have school off, early monday morning. erica's got black at forecast.

reporter: it's only reserved to the north bay vallies, everyone waking up to mild temperatures. santa rosa 36 degrees, oakland at 43. temperatures will continue to dr. a few more degrees as we approach sunrise looking at areas of patchy fog, plenty of sun nine into the afternoon in fact it looks like we could see mid-60s for most in land spots. breakdown afternoon highs for today. it looks like -- 63, 64 degrees in sunnyvale, oakland but san francisco will stay in upper 50s. bay forecast shows although we do have a slight chance for sprinkles into tomorrow, mostly cloudy conditions around bay area. windy conditions around wednesday, that will continue the rest of the work week, 70s as we push in closer to the weekend. actually looking at a god chance for unsettled weather to

the the sex seven daves. we are not monitoring any hot spots. looking at the bridges, by bridge moving well, coming from all three directions. holding steady at 12:00 to 13 minutes and no issues or delays moving in right now. here is a live look -- our top story this morning a man remains in the life threatening injuries after being shot several times, the shooting happened around 7:15 on market and powell street in front of the shopping center. right now police do not have anybody in custody, investigators say they believe the shooting was targeted, it happened in the busy part of downtown san francisco and many residents in the area say they are glad no one else god hurt.

>> scary, i have never been that close to a shooting. i hope they got the guy. >> the powell street part station was shut down briefly after this shooting so police can secure the area. in san jose an argument leaves one person dead in a hit- and-run and officers searching for suspects. brings us the latest in the investigation. reporter: just after 3 in the afternoon san jose fire fighters responded to a call, when they got here to the corner of smell and woods avenue, the fire fighters called the police. >> officers arrived and discovered there was a physical altercation, coupled with the vehicle versus pedestrian incident. reporter: would not disclose the nature of that altercation. witnesses who did not want to appear on camera the fight started at the near by flea market before it carried out into the street. the murder victim is only described as a man in his 30s. >> we didn't know what actually

caused the fatal injuries. that would be left up to coronor's investigation. reporter: this woman who is holding a child pulled over. >> we have several witnesses at the scene, transported to the police department. reporter: officers on scene could not immediately disclose any suspect or vehicle information. >> different perspectives, different angles, so we want to make sure we put out the best and most correct information we are have. reporter: so far no arrests have been made,. in other news today is president's day and that means a lot of you may have the day off from work or school. so, all federal and state courts and offices will be closed today along with dmv, city and county offices, banks and post offices. most schools are also closed today. public transit also

. welcome back time now 4:07. the man struck and killed has been identified. the medical examiner, michael mendez, powell street station, and was pronounced dead at the scene. mendez was a transient and may have unintentionally fallen on to the tracks. car break-ins are on the rise in san francisco and you can see in these photos the most recent string of them in the richmond district. one of our views sent in this picture saying over 20 windowses were smashed on wednesday night. thieves took off with personal blockings, make sure your cars are locked and don't leave anything visible, there will be a meeting tomorrow in the

richmond district. a shooting injured a man and a woman in san jose yesterday afternoon it happened just before 1:30 near this liquor store near south king road, several suspects fled the scene and the cars have not been found, victims were transported to the hospital and condition not being disclosed. a home in redding was burned to the ground yesterday after police found of explosives inside. police found explosives after the owner of the home blue off his hand, homes were evacuated as a precaution. as of this morning the owner of this home has not been arrested or charged. police are asking for your help this morning in the murder of a 16 year old girl in fairfield. authorities have identified her as rohas and she was shot saturday morning near the train tracks and died at the scene. investigators have not said if

they have any persons of interest and they say any one with information may remain an anonymous. california highway patrol is investigating this car crash saturday that killed a mother and her 4 children, it happened near river day in fresno county, the van burst into flames after it was involved in an accident with another car, kids ages 2, 3, 6, 11 were trapped inside the burning van. officers say her husband was not far behind and he tried to pull them from the wreckage but burned his hands. driver of the other car was air lift today a hospital for treatment. and live in the weather center looking forward to a day with plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures. we'll details on your president's day forecast when the kron 4 morning news returns.

monday morning. happy president's day everyone. a look at your forecast and your traffic, here is erica, good morning. reporter: good morning, we do have pretty quiet weather to look forward to over the next couple days. slight chance for rain as we head into tomorrow for north bay, nothing too significant. right now dryer air, very few clouds out there, temperatures are rapidly cooling. is ever that 49 degrees right now. we'll lose a couple more degrees approaching sunrise. concord and low 40s out in live more. as we head into the afternoon, 60s pretty mild seasonal day ahead. sunny conditions, evergreen hitting 65, 64 degrees in sunnyvale. 62 for those of you in concord, 62 in vallejo, san francisco will stay in the upper 50s. 63 for those of you in napa. 64 in oakland. now satellite and radar shows relatively clear conditions

maybe a 10th of an inch for santa rosa, the rest of us dealing with cloudy conditions. a lot of people have president's day off and they want to know what to expect. we are waking up to mostly clear conditions temperatures right now in the 30s and 40s, 43 degrees, 39 heading out the door in vallejo, 40s out in live more valley, and 40 in sunnyville. lots of sunshine but temperatures won't be too warm. mid-60s out in livermore valley. temperatures will mainly stay in the upper 50s in the coast. that includes downtown san francisco. 50s that's what we are going to see san francisco 52, 48 degrees in vallejo, dinner plans grab a jacket it will be chilly out there. i do want to take a look at satellite and radar, we are seeing clear conditions right

top story this morning the search is on for whoever terrified a crowd of shoppers in downtown san francisco by shooting a man on the street. san francisco general hospital with details. will. reporter: the reason we are here after the man was shot in downtown san francisco he was rushed here, he has life threatening injuries, his name is not released. this happened at around 7:15 on sunday night. it's being president's day weekend lots of people were already out at that time. shoppers on market and powell at the mall there. once the shots are fired everybody rushed inside, they were terrified, they just basically just a stampede inside. as far as this man we believe according to the san francisco police department, they believe he was targeted, after being shot the suspect fullies and at this point bus of the witnesses all feared for their lives and they were running there is no

description of the suspect. we hope to get more information from the san francisco police department this was the second time the cable cars an basically that area was shut down for 2 days in the road, the day before that a transient was crushed by a car, again, we hope to hear from the police department about this surge and hopefully a suspect description will be released throughout the morning. all right. thank you, will i am. in other news san francisco police are looking for a group of asian men who stabbed 2 men in the city's richmond district. the incident happened yesterday in quarry boulevard and 3 3rd avenue. a fight in the area and when they arrived they found a 29 year old man with cuts to his hands and face. and another man suffering from multiple stab wounds. witnesses say the suspect fled in a 2 door sedan. police are investigating a grew some discovery a burned

body found saturday nightout side a popular park in the oakland hills. kron 4 kelly reports, neighbors are unnerved by the find. reporter: east bay regional park police responded to a report of a person on fire around 10:30 saturday night. the severely burned body was found in this parking lotout side the redwood regional parks' entrance off skyline boulevard. >> the it's likely the body was found here where you can see how the asphalt lookedded charred, witnesses didn't want to appear on camera. until he heard the news the next morning. >> i saw something, you know, like a been fire going on in the corner, it was a different shape, 6 feet long. there was a car behind it, there was no activity going on as far as people milling about or anything, it was in the parking lot, by the time i had driven by it, the fire was
