rescue in san francisco. after three teenagers fell off a cliff at china beach. you are looking at video from the hour- long rescue operation. as it happened this afteroon. a coast guard helicopter was brought in. to airlift some of the teens to safety. >> reporter:another was taken away on the water. now a closer look at where all this all happened. in the city's seaside neighborhood. that's not too far from the presidio. kron 4's scott rates is live unfolded. >> reporter: here are the steps were you call down to the beach but this happened weight off into the distance. that is where these three teams were walking on routes and apparently that is where they slipped and fell. we are told that the speaker. i happen around 12:00 this afternoon it happened and they fell around 50 ft to

>> reporter:mandatory evacuations in southern california ahead of this next storm. evacuation orders have been issued for one thousand homes east of los angeles in the cities of glendora and azusa. that's where a wildfire last month burned vegitation on nearly two thousand acres of steep mountain slopes. >> reporter:both cities have been preparing for tonight's storm, which is supposed to be more intense in southern california than it is for us in the bay area. mandatory evacuation orders have been issued for 1,000 homes in two foothill suburbs east of los angeles in advance of a powerful storm. the cities of glendora and azusa issued the orders at midday thursday for homes that could be endangered by debris flows from nearly 2,000 acres of steep mountain slopes burnedfor days,e been making extensive sandbagging and lining streets with k-rails. widespread rain wednesday

>> reporter:police chief greg suhr was not chief at the time of these alleged incidents, but he says once he took over in from happening again. >> reporter:now the 5 officers have been suspended without pay. they are expected to be arraigned before a federal magistrate tomorrow. pam >> pam: we are learning new details about the fatal shooting invovling officers at san jose state university. antonio lopez guzman was wielding a knife near the campus, when he was shot twice in the back, according to the medical examiner. the shooting happened last week near eighth and san salvador streets. campus police were responding to reports of a man waving a knife and acting strangely. authorities say, guzman refused to drop the knife. they say they opened fire. after guzman starting advancing toward them.

state attorney general >> pam: kamala harris has released a disturbing new report about identity theft in california. there have been as many as 300 data breaches in the last two years affecting 20 million customers. harris says california is also leading a multistate investigation into data breaches at target and neiman marcus that left millions of customers at risk. >> reporter:harris' report comes as verizon says it is looking into two possible security breaches at retailers that use its technology. verizon has not named the >> reporter:but the wall street journal reports the data breaches may have occured at the same time as a massive credit card data breach at target over the busy holiday season. >> reporter:that massive data breach at target caused the retailer's earnings to drop 46 percent. >> reporter:40 million credit and debit cards were compromised, and hackers may have accessed the data of 70
