maybe a visual hazard. >> developing news this morning, a girl was struck and killed by a freight train in martinez. it happened on the tracks near old orchard and howe roads around five last night. the victim died at the scene. sources tell us that she was an eighth grader at martinez junior high school. the incident is under investigation. we have crews on the way and will have a live report with the latest details. >> police are still looking for the gunman who shot and critically injured a man at a san rafael restaurant over the weekend. the shooting happened early saturday morning at pa's mexican and filipino cuisine. police say the gunman walked through the front door, and opened fire on a 31-year-old man who was sitting at a table. restaurant staff then took cover and many of the customers ran out one staff member of the restuaurnat says the victim was a regular at the restaurant. >> he was really nice. the

shooter i believe new that were looking for. although fort shots went straight to him. >> >> the owners say they will consider purchasing a surveillance system for the restaurant. and right now the victim remains in critical condition at marin general hospital. >> secretary of state john kerry will travel to kiev on tuesday to meet with ukranian officials. kerry's trip comes as a response to russia's military advance into ukraine. kerry has raised the possibility of issuing economic sanctions and visa bans. russian forces are surrounding three military bases in the strategic crimean peninsula. this is prompting fears an armed conflict could break out at any moment. . uniformed gunmen can be seen in crimea, but, with no identifiable insignia, who they are or where they are

>> a burglary suspect was arrested after the homewoner tackles him to the ground in newark. police say the homeowner confronted the suspect who was in his backyard on dalewood drive. that was when the suspect tried to run away and the homewoner chased him down the street, tackled him and held him down until police arrived. police found stolen items that he took from an unlocked car in the area on the 18-year-old suspect. >> pets at a local shelter may now be at risk after the car used to transport them to adoption mobile events was stolen. as kron 4's alecia reid explains, some of those dogs already have a tough time finding homes. >> he is a cute and cuddly. but some of them have a hard time getting adopted. >> if a shelter calls, i could drive their apple that dog out.ampule dead dog out.
