areas of fog this morning. it may be a impacted your visibility. pretty much clear elsewhere but the temperatures this morning are on the chilly side. 45 degrees for a bottle. oakland is at 48 degrees. about 43 degrees currently in livermore. we are expecting another springlike day today. we have changes to talk about coming up. >> our top story this morning. a malaysia airlines boeing 777-200 is missing over vietnam. kron four's mike pelton is in the newsroom with the latests. mike? >> marty, this plane-- carrying 239 people, was headed from kuala lumpur to beijing. it took off around 12-30 this morning. it then lost contact around 2-40 local time with air traffic control. search and rescue crews from several countries are searching to locate the plane.

>> here is a map of where the plane reportedly crashed. vietnamese reports say signals have been detected about 140 miles southwest of vietnam's southernmost coastal province of ca mau. a vietnam official has since denied this report. a crash scene has still not been identified. the plane was expected to land in beijing at 6:30 this morning. china's state run news agency reported the plane was lost in airspace controll by vietnam, and never made any contact with chinese air traffic control. >> we are looking at all possibilities. it is too early to make their remarks. >> i just like to say that our thoughts and prayers are with the aggrieved families.

bay teen. which was tied to a cyber-bullying case. is now prompting new legislation. lawmakers and the family of audrie pott have announced "audrie's law." it's a proposed bill that would make cyber-bullying a felony and stiffen penalties for sexual assaults. the measure is being introduced in sacramento and audrie's mother plans to testify. if it passes, it could go into effect as early as next january. >> this lot needs to be a change. teens the to understand how this affects the person that is being bullied. >> 15-year-old audrie pott killed herself in 2012 after pictures of her being sexually assaulted were reportedly sent around her school through social media. but of lesser crimes. >> get ready to spring forward. and set your clocks ahead for daylight saving time. daylight saving officially begins at two a-m tomorrow morning. most americans will set their clocks ahead before they go to bed tonight. you'll lose an hour of sleep, but in return, you'll get to enjoy extra sunlight in the evenings.

>> a ukrainian officer at a military base in ukraine's region of crimea says that pro-russia soldiers have crashed a truck through its gates in an attempt to take it over. lt. col. vitaly onishchenko, deputy commander of the base, said three dozen men wearing unmarked camouflage uniforms arrived late friday. he said saturday they turned off power and cut telephone lines and urged ukrainian troops surrender their weapons and swear allegiance to russia. the invaders left around midnight. no shots were fired, but the incident reflected tensions running high in crimea, where ukrainian military bases have been seized or blocked by pro- russia forces. russia has a major naval base in crimea. >> the summit of conservative activists known as "c-pac 2014" comes to a close today. some of the republicans who've spoken so far. have brought up the subject of russia. and made some pretty critical comments of president obama, slamming him as weak on the world >> mike huckabee former gov. of arkansas i know that the only time putin shivers is when he has his shirt off in a cold russian winter that he's not the least bit worried of

downtown san francisco. mid 60's for the coast. 70 degrees expected for petaluma. and 72 for napa. >> take a look at satellite and radar we have a system that is approaching. we're expecting light showers as early as tonight. it will be light and it will taper off into the early morning hours. once we get past this system with respect to mainly dry conditions for the rest we have a lot of seven days with a lot of sunshine. >> a prison fight between three inmates was broken up by the guards-- after one of them shoots an inmate in the hand. the fight started at about 10 a-m friday morning-- at the salinas valley state prison-- two inmates attacked a third inmate and knocked him unconscious. guards ordered them to stop and when they kept attacking the unconscious man, one guard fired a warning shot but the inmates kept going. guards then fired a second shot that struck one inmate

in the hand. both inmates were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay. >> a neighborhood in fresno is reeling-- after police shoot and kill a woman. it happened on friday at an apartment complex-- police say a woman was threatening a man with an eight-inch long carving knife. when officers arrived to the area the man was waiting for police outside the complex. police say officers entered the apartment and asked the woman to drop the knife, but she refused. one officer had a taser and tried to stop the woman, but it appeared to have no effect. thats when they said the woman then tried to attack the officers. >> "based on her bizarre behavior she either is dealing with some mental health issues or possibility under the influence of some type of drug." >> after the shooting, officers attempted c-p-r and first aid on the woman but she was unresponsive. police say toxicology test results will determine whether or not the woman was under the influence of anything. this is the second police shooting for the city of fresno since the first of the year. >> two 17-year-olds from oregon are facing adult murder charges.

seventeen-year-old brett pearson says he and his friend were high on meth when his parents were shot. pearson's father survived, but his mother did not. he is now in jail - accused of murdering one parent and shooting the other. brett says he and his friend robert miller, had been using meth for three weeks straight and that's what fueled their actions. >> it was a sense of showing no emotion. it was nothing or around that mattered. except for us. the drugs. >> brett admitted he shot at his dad that night but doesn't know if he hit him. both teens will be tried as adults. >> the woman who drove her van into the ocean in florida -- with her young children inside -- is set to face a judge this morning. police say ebony wilkerson was clearly trying to kill all three of her children. people who saw it happen on tuesday. ran into the water to help. they head the children shouting and pleading for

help. eventually all of the children were carried to safety. wilkerson -- who is pregnant -- is being charged with 3- counts of attempted murder and aggravated child assault. she is being tested for mental problems. >> a california lawmaker is trying to put an end to orca shows at seaworld. state assembly member richard bloom is behind the bill. if passed, the bill would ban the orca shows at seaworld in san diego. this is all more fall-out. from the 20-10 death of a trainer during a performance. it would also ban captive breeding programs. and the importing and exporting the animals. seaworld would still be allowed to put killer whales on display in an aquarium- like setting -- but no performances would be allowed. >> i spent my first days being here. i was amazed by the show. i was like the general public fold. the

>> some are outraged after a chicago whole foods employee was fired for staying home with her son. the employee stayed home with her special needs son during inclement weather in january. schools were closed during this time. nationwide.protests are being organized by equality women's group ultraviolet. locally.community members will be protesting whole foods in berkeley and oakland. protesters will be start at 9 in berkeley and 11 in oakland. >> the wheelmobile will be looking for wheel of fortune contestants at graton casino this weekend. however.some are wishing it would wheel some place else. a national anti-predatory gambling organizations plans to protest at the casino. the organization says gambling creates an "unfairness and inequality of life." they say wheel of fortune is too family friendly to be advertisn casino.

now the santa clara county district attorneys office says, a key piece of evidence helped them make two arrests. and as kron four's j.r. stone explains. they didn't have to go too far to do it. >> the details that i have learned are startling. court documents stated that this a victim was linked to her husband's brother. the sad story is that the husband was arrested on friday. this is her picture was last seen 25 years ago. her body was found 48 hours after she was last seen in the back of this car. she was covered by a ". she was strangled to death. investigators only talked about the " last month and now they have arrested her former husband who was estranged at the time and his brother. court documents show that the de in a of her clothing matched

martinez. jenna betti's friends and family poured in to a pleasant hill church on friday for her funeral. jenna was struck sunday evening by a freight train. her mother. dena betti says, jenna was on the tracks with her boyfriend before the collision. she said, they saw the train coming. and got off the tracks. but jenna went back to get her cell phone. and that's when she was hit. >> the c-h-p say they believe two boys are responsible for the recent water bottle throwing incidents last month in the north bay. bottles were thrown at cars, trucks and buses traveling at high speeds in the sebastopol and santa rosa areas. the c-h-p says as many as ten vehicles were hit. including two school buses. a bottle even shattered a bus windsheild, injuring the driver. the incidents stopped when c-h-p released a photograph of the pickup truck involved. no arrests have been made yet. and the boys' names have not been released. maligned we are learning more about a teenage boy who died in a terrible car crash on highway- 24 in lafayette. the crash. near the pleasant hill road exit. shut down traffic for 3- hours thursday. kron 4's justine waldman spoke with the last people

looking for a man who touched a girl and appropriately at school. a seven year-old girl said a stranger touched her yesterday afternoon. the suspect is described as wise, with black hair and mustache, wearing a black t- shirt, jeans and a brown scratcher brand shoes. >> they reported armed robbery their monterey college campus of the school and a lockdown. monterey peninsula college was locked down around 11:30 a.m. friday morning. moderate police said they received an urgent call about a person being brought in a vehicle. because the alleged robbery took place close to the campus was plopped down. they found no evidence of this robbery. >> coming up on the the kron 4 news. san francisco supervisors say that they want a ride sharing company to paplay by the rules. a ride

information. >> the world health organization changed its guidelines for the healthy amount of sugar in our diets this week. right now, on average, most americans eat or drink 22- teaspoons of sugar a day. the organization is dropping its guidelines from 12- teaspoons a day. to just six. that's less than the amount of sugar you'd take in if you drank one can of soda per day. sugar has been blamed for a range of health problems, from heart disease to diabetes. dietians say, don't be fooled by the names high fructose corn syrup, agave nectar or molasses. it's all just sugar. >> a new survey says more and more americans are having more and more trouble sleeping. researchers at harvard say six million americans now take some form of prescribed sleep medication. that's three-point-eight percent of the population -- almost double the number from ten years ago. more than half the people who take sleeping pills also

a malaysia airlines boeing 777 is missing.and presumed down. kron four's mike pelton is latest. mike? >> reports surfacing that vietnamese air force planes spotted two large oil slicks believed to be from the missing malaysian airlines flight. they are at least six - miles long - found off the southern tip of vietnam. however, still *no sight of malaysia airlines flight m-h 370 and an airline official says hey have 'no idea' where the plane is. >> here is a map of where the plane might have crashed.according to china's state-run-tv. in the overlapping waters between malaysia and vietnam. flight m-h-370 left kuala lampur 12-30am local time - expected in beijing around 6-30 but never made it.with the plane losing all contact less than an hour into the flight.the pilots did not make a distress call. flight boards at the beijing airport show the flight in red with the word 'delayed'. family and friends of those

oakland house fire. the blaze broke out a round to a.m. on santa cruz avenue near the barn and street. no other injuries were reported. >> a man was arrested on suspicion of dui and other charges friday afternoon after crashing into two cars and injuring three people in san francisco's russian hill neighborhood, a police sergeant said. officers responded to a report of a collision at the intersection of van ness avenue and broadway street around 12:10 p.m., sgt. eric o'neil said. a man later identified as 26-year-old jacob sahagun was driving south on van ness avenue when he collided with two vehicles driving east on broadway street, o'neil said. sahagun was under the influence at the time of the collision, according to the sergeant. o'neil said sahagun and three others involved in the collision were injured, but none of the injuries were considered to be life-threatening. sahagun was arrested for alleged felony dui, driving with a suspended license, having an open container and being in possession of contraband paraphernalia, >> in the north bay, a motorist with 19 prior d-u-i

convictions was arrested for driving on a suspended petaluma police got a tip that william beall was driving without a license in santa rosa. they staked out his home and caught him driving away. he was not intoxicated at the time. the man had received those d-u-i convictions over 30 years. he was on probation at the time of the arrest. >> hundreds of people gathered to remember a 14- year-old girl. who was hit and killed by a train in martinez. jenna betti's friends and family gathered at a pleasant hill church on friday for her funeral. jenna was struck sunday evening by a freight train. her mother. dena betti says, jenna was on the tracks with her boyfriend before the collision. she said, they saw the train coming. and got off the tracks. but jenna went back to get her cell phone. and that's when she was hit. >> the c-h-p believes two boys are responsible for the recent water bottle throwing incidents last month in the north bay. bottles were thrown at cars, trucks and buses traveling at high speeds in the sebastopol and santa rosa areas. the c-h-p says as many as ten vehicles were hit. including two school buses. a bottle even shattered a bus windsheild, injuring the driver. the incidents stopped when c-h-p released a photograph of the pickup truck involved.
