sunshine and a record- breaking highs. take a look at temperatures right now. due to the wind we have pretty clear conditions and the temperatures are actually dropping. san francisco is a mile-52 degrees. clear conditions for most of us just a hint of coastal fog. that will clear for the afternoon. it is going to get toasty for some of us. sunnyvale will get almost 80 degrees. san francisco have a high of 71 degrees. the temperatures will be much warmer than yesterday and we have high pressure in place. tomorrow is shaping up to be the warmest. it looks like the cold front is corn to slide through for next week and we may see winds up to 40 mi. per hour. exercise will persist but we're back in the rain as we head into

next thursday and friday. >> friends and family of missing teen sierra lamar will be searching for her today. tomorrow marks the two year anniversary that the teen went missing. kron four's mike pelton is live in morgan hill with more on the search efforts. mike? >> this is the research center. this is what volunteers to every saturday, they gather here to search for her. this is a songbird search and it has now been two years and she went missing. of volunteers are here and they searched the back country every saturday. they have conducted over 500 searchers and they still have not located her. she left off from school and never came back. authorities located herself fall and some clothing but she was never

found. earlier this week we spoke with her father who say that he will not give up. >> we're still searching try to find answers. we are born to keep doing this until we know something. >> authorities stated that the move the one responsible for her disappearance, they have dna linking him. he pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial. friends and family are still waiting for answers and hopefully they will get some. >> new details this morning in the case of the missing malaysia airlines flight 370. it's been one week since the plane *vanished somewhere over vietnam. this is a map showing the new location of search efforts. this stretch includes an area from north thailand to the border of turkmenistan and kazakhstan. the southern corridor

reaches from indonesia to the southern tip of the indian ocean. malaysia's prime minister told reporters this morning that investigators believe the plane's communications were deliberately disabled. >> based on communication we can say with a high degree that there aircraft communication addressing and reporting system was disabled. >> the announcement confirms days of mounting speculation that the disappearance of the plane with 239 passengers on board was not accidental. investigators will now focus on who may have taken control of the plane and why. >> despite media reports that the plane was hijacked, i wish to be very

tragedy in castro valley tonight. the city's first homicide of the year is considered suspicious by police. a woman's body is found inside a house near the intersection of stanton and carlton avenues. >> a 14 to 16 year-old girl came out and she was crying. she was brought from home. >> police that she is not a suspect and they're not clear what the relationship is. they're not sure if she was killed inside the home or someone else. neighbors stated that--those living nearby stated that they have not noticed any suspicious activity. >> and fairfield, a one mumbo board remains in the hospital this morning. his father, 18 year-old joshua cooper, is in jail for allegedly biting off a piece of the child's nose. the

incident occurred thursday morning, while he was alone with the baby. a family member tells kron4 that the baby has finished a three hour surgery to reattach his nose. fairfield police investigators describe the injuries. >> the child suffered a skull fracture and brain hemorrhage. >> the same family member also says that the father was filed with the bloody blanket next to him which he allegedly used to try to smother the baby. the infant and his 17 year-old mother are in custody also allow county child protective services. >> coming up on the kron4 new is. the story behind the

>> they were under the care of their grandmother. the suspect, the father and mother went to the residents of the grandmother and they forcibly took the children >> authorities say the suspects were last seen in a dark p-t cruiser with tinted windows. there was no license plate >> swat teams use tear gas to end a police standoff in bakersfield friday. authorities say the incident started after the suspect he crashed, and barricaded himself in this parking garage for several hours, and opened fire on police. neighboring apartments and a high school were on lockdown during the incident. the tear gas eventually forced the man to surrender. he was taken out of the garage on a stretcher. the evacuations were lifted shortly afterward.

>> the co-founder of frozen yogurt chain pinkberry is going to prison for beating a homeless man with a tire iron. young lee was sentenced for seven years for the los angeles beating. prosecutors said lee confronted daniel bolding in 20-11 after the transient flashed a sexually explicit tattoo at lee's car. lee drove away.but then returned with another man and beat bolding. bolding was struck twice on the head and suffered a broken arm before witnesses stopped the attack. lee is no longer affiliated with pinkberry. >> it's been a busy few months for san diego's department of animal services. since the start of the year, the office has received nearly 80 calls-- thats three times normal. they say rattlesnakes are to blame. the warm weather is bringing out rattlesnakes. they've been spotted on trails and backyards. rattlers are coming out of hibernation early thinking spring is here. >> "we had kind of a mild winter, that has a lot to do with it, as it warms up,

snakes becoming more active." >> "they'll be slithering on top of the trail gotta be vigilant and avoid stepping on them." >> warning signs are now posted clearly around parks telling joggers and hikers to be aware. >> staffers at the port of oakland are giving the go- ahead to enter into exclusive negotiations with a group of business leaders who are proposing to build a waterfront ballpark for the a's. the park would be built at howard terminal. the port and the business group will take a closer costs of building a ballpark on the 50-acre site. a's co-owner lew wolff said in january he does not believe howard terminal is a viable location for a ballpark. >> and we're getting ready for the baseball season with two prime time baseball specials next week. leading off, it's the two- time defending a-l west champion oakland a's. next sunday, march 23rd. it's at 9 o'clock, right after the kron 4 news at 8.

ahmad shah's home near kuala lumpur. officials said that the crew and passengers on board the flight are being looked at more closely. it is now believe that someone acted deliberately inside the plane. sources said police have been outside the pilot's tone every day for the past week. >> out of control sexting by middle school students from four bay area schools. officers say a teenaged boy threatened to show an explicit picture of a girl, if she did not perform sexual acts on him. kron 4's j.r. stone has more from brentwood. >> a boy is used a discriminating pitcher and force a girl to perform sex acts on him. students say this is how happened. >> she told me that she was forced to send pictures. he was using it against her. >> officers stated that a group of other kids sent

died and ended up on the shore. the body was found yesterday afternoon at linda mar state beach, then removed from the surf at the north end of the beach. pacifica police say the woman was an adult. and arew working to confirm her cause of death. >> two men are in custody, after police found a stockpile of explosive devices and weapons inside multiple bay area homes. the alleged bomb makers -- are accused of making and selling dangerous levels of explosives. out of their homes. sean gunther and marc ormando pleaded not guilty to numerous charges related to explosives. the police investgation started months ago after an incident connected to an explosive device in san franciso's north beach. surveillance video revealed the two men were allegedly making and selling the destructive devices. neighbors looked on as authorities raided gunther's pacifica home. >> they took out a lot of boxes. >> at this point, terrorism is not suspected. in addition to the charges related to explosives, ormando faces one count of child endangerment, and gunther is also being >> police are asking for your help finding a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery in oakland.

he's john thomas allen. he stands about five feet 11, and weighs about 160 pounds. he has a scar on his chin and a receding hairline. police say allen is considered armed and dangerous-- and if anyone spots him, just call 9-1-1 right away. >> the state is looking into how the welding problems on the new eastern span of the bay bridge were handled. cal-trans says when it heard about the allegations. it asked c-h-p to check it out. a former quality manager for caltrans in china. spoke about the welding problems back at a january hearing. he said his company lost its contract after telling managers about serious welding problems. he also said they were told to *ignore cracks in some of the welds. inspectors are checking the damage to this victorian home in oakland. it partially collapsed thursday night. fire officials say a side wall at the two-story home on myrtle street. began to fall onto another property. and hitting a truck next door. the house was being renovated at the time. no one was inside, and no one was hurt.

>> caltrans says it's going to open a permanent connector for the popular biking and walking path on the new eastern span of the bay bridge. a temporary connection is being used to walk and ride on the bridge. it's necessary due to remaining pieces of the old bridge. caltrans plans to close the bike path from next sunday, march 23rd. to monday, march 31st. so crews can connect both sections of the bike path. >> two trails at san francisco's glen canyon park are in need of names. and the city's recreation and parks department is asking for your ideas. one of the trails runs on a steep edge on the eastern edge of the canyon. the second trail follows one of the last free-flowing creeks in the city. the naming contest runs through april 15th. you can submit your name through the department's website. >>

>> welcome back. >> today and tomorrow will be two of the warmest days. we're looking at temperatures way above average as we wrap of winter. we do have one more week left. temperatures are pretty close to what we see in the summertime we are starting off with cooler conditions for places like concord where they have temperatures in the upper 40's. the wind is so come outside. we're talking about some of the skies and temperatures in the upper 70's. the awesome and valley will have 80 degrees and 79 degrees for santa clara if you think those temperatures are warm will see similar conditions. the total sunshine expected will be low to mid 70's and 77 will be your high for pleasanton.

contained. >> sparks are flying following the black forest fire in colorado. an investigation says firefighters were pulled from the front lines and ordered to risk their lives -- to allegedly protect the home of a public official. last summer, the fire ravaged homes up and down this street, sparing only two of them. one belongs to the high- ranking el paso county sheriff's commander, robert mcdonald. the allegations against mcdonald and his boss were made in a 19-hundred page report commissioned by the black forest fire protection district. the report was met with an angry denial from the sheriff. line"allegations are completely false.we sent resources up there to not to save my house, we had reports y house had been burned to the ground. resources were sent to protect any houses that could be saved." >> "i could spend hours going through this garbage of a report, prepared by a pr firm, not a legitimate investigative party and pick it apart." >> the reason the allegations are so concerning is because commander mcdonalds home is

still standing-- while the home next to it was a total loss and is now rebuilt. the black forest fire chief is paying for a full and complete exoneration in this report and with these new allegations, it gives him his own opportunity to fire back. >> target stores are now acknowledging they could have. and should have. reacted sooner to that huge data breach, which put some 70- million target customers at risk. reports now reveal. target's security software detected potentially malicious activity. but target staffers decided not to take immediate action. the company got alerts from its security system on november 30th. but did not begin investigating until december 12th. that was when the justice department warned about suspicious activity involving payment cards. >> the united states is hoping to go "high-tech" in afghanistan. the top u-s aid agency wants to use smartphones, satellite imagery, and g-p- s cameras to oversee tax- funded development projects in the area. the u-s agency for international development will be seeking bids on a new contract -- aimed at combining existing monitoring work with

>> wild pigs are once again raiding lawns in the south bay. along one road, more than a dozen homes were hit in one night. kron 4's charles clifford went to san jose, where neighbors are doing what they can to keep the pigs at bay. nats >> all along forsum road in san jose, formerly green front lawns have been torn up as if someone has attacked them with a road-a- tiller. the culprit? roaming herds of wild pigs. one neighbor captured these pictures of the marauding swine using a surveillance camera. more than twenty pigs tore up his lawn in just one night. sot lyingi love animals, but the pigs have got to go >> barabara downy has lived here along forsum for 23years. she first noticed

the pigs raiding her yard back in 2009. it was just small claw marks back then but in recent months she says the problem has really gotten out of hand. sot >> there have been several meetings with the city about the problem and neighbors do have the option of killing or trapping the pigs, but that's no easy task. there's red tape to cut through, disposing of the pigs can be expensive and because there are so many animals it would be difficult to get all of them. nast linefor the time being, neighbors are doing what they can to push back the invasion. this family was putting up a picket fence friday, another house installed artificial turf, and this home on a corner has had some success with motion detecting lights and sprinklers that scare away the pigs. >> barabara says she's going to try re-landscaping her front yard. sot in san jose , charles clifford kron 4 news. >> coming up on the kron4 nose. the headliners are ready to rock you. bottle
