a somber but hopeful day for the family of missing morgan hill teen sierra lamar. sunday marked the two year anniversary of lamar's disappearance. dozens gathered to unveil a memorial bench dedicated in her honor at washington high in fremont. sierra attended the school yet their daughter's disappearance. 22 year old antolin garcia torres is charged with kidnapping and murder in the he pleaded not guilty last his month.and will face a trial later this year. developing news we are follwing on the missing malaysian airline plane. caught believe the co-pilot spoke the last words to air

traffic controllers before the plane disappeared march 8. officials say when the cockpit said, "all right, good night," one of the plane's communications systems already had been disabled. and about 14 minutes later, the transponder that identifies the plane to commercial radar systems also was shut down. over the weekend, investigators searched the homes of both the pilot and co-pilot to see if they can find any clues. right now 25 countries are involved in the search. and the search area has expanded to from kazakhstan to the indian ocean. kron four spoke with a local pilot who has

extensive experience with flight simulators. rashid yahya is the chief pilot of pacific states aviation in concord. he says the fact the malaysian flight captain had a simulator in his home isn't immediate cause for suspicion. he says it could have been used for leisure or training. when you go back and have to go back for training mostly all the programs are now on the computer. malaysia airlines says flight 370 may have flown for more than seven hours after its transponder stopped sending signals. the transponder signals where the plane is. yahya uses his simulator at buchanan field airport to show disabling the transponder is as simple as hitting a switch. knowing where to fly in order to avoid radar detection is also something yahya says can be rehersed on a simulator.

firefighters not only find thought flames.but illegal activitiy is at a burning home in san jose overnight. the 9-1-1 call came in but around 10-30 last night on lanier lane near pellier drive. when firefighters arrived, they found a pot-growing operation inside the single family home. no one was hurt in the fire. crews got the fire under control just after midnight. two people lost their home after a fire in redwood city this morning. the fire on johnson street was reported around 11:35. crews say it started in a bedroom and was contained by 12:30. the cause is under investigation. the two who lived in the home are getting assistance from the red cross. coming up on the kron 4 morning news-- a tour bus hits an elderly man walking in the crosswalk. why police say the driver

a woman is in serious condition after a driver with no license or headlights hit her. the accident happened on ulloa street last night around 9:45. scene and was cited. the pedestrian might have been intoxicated at the time. she is now in stable condition. san francisco police are investigating an accident where a tour bus accidentally hit an elderly man-- an sent him to the hospital. witnesses say the victim was crossing at the mission and 7th street intersection sunday morning, when the hot

driver of the grayline sightseeing bus tried beating a red light. the bus hit the pedestrian while making a left onto 7th sauce his people at the scene say at one point the left wheel of the bus was on top of the man. the victim has been hospitalized with potentially life threatening injuries. in a statement, grayline of san francisco tells kron 4 "we are fully cooperating with the local agencies while they conduct their investigation and it will take several days for the authorities to review the information." in san bruno, firefighters and alert neighbors prevented this fire from destroying any homes in the neighbors started smelling smoke and called 9-1-1 around 12-30 sunday afternoon.

when firefighters arrived at the corner of heather and eucalyptus. they found a shed engulfed in flames. a woman who lives at the home adjacent to the shed-- did not want to be filmed, but she talked about what happened the first moment she saw the flames. i ran to decide. ".i just noticed the shadow of the smoke, and opened up the back door and noticed the flames and the.flames and just dropped everything, went upstairs and met my neighbor out here ran to the side, turned on the water, he started hosing down, we called the fire department." >>:".it didn't extend over to the neighbors or to the main building of the structure." neighbors also helped with the firefighting effort. they used their garden hoses to keep the flames down before the professionals arrived. fortunately no one was hurt, and no homes were damaged by the fire. and another fire. this time in mountain view. investigators are still trying to find out what caused a fire at an unoccupied home over the weekend. will have details after the break. happy st. patrick's day.

more than a million people are expected to pack the street's of new york city today for the city's annual st. patrick's day parade. but it's who won't be there that's drawing attention. ed payne reports. sunday beer maker dennis said it was dropping its sponsorship of the parade. an announcement came just after heineken says it too was pulling its support for it and the beer makers aren't the only high-profile absentees. last month mayor bill defazio and new york city council says they will boycott the parade. according to the new york times, the bastille is the first mayor to skip the parade in more than two decades. gay-rights groups are applauding but some of new york's religious leaders have expressed outrage over the map merrill snub. >>: they're trying to shove the gay agenda down our throats with the help of
