plant, there was never any danger to people who live nearby. as the plant is not operational. kron-4's jeff bush was one of the first reporters on the scene. the search is on for the driver of the s-u-v, that police say, hit and killed a pedestrian. it happened just after 11 - a-m yesterday. in san francisco's visitation valley. police say, a woman in her 60's, was crossing the street, when the driver made a left hand turn. and hit her. witnesses say, the driver then seemed to be making a u-turn to come back. but then took off. the driver's actions. shocking to people in the area. police have released a photo of the s-u-v. it's a dodge durango with a black ski rack. investigators say the driver was described as having short curly hair and light brown skin. and is either black or latino. this latest accident marks the city's sixth deadly

accident this year. mayor ed lee has been promoting a safe pedestrian campaign. district attorney george gascón issued a statement, saying. with the city's busy streets. drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians cannot afford to get distracted or let their guard down. a 30-year-old woman was killed in a late-night shooting in richmond.

the national transportation safety board is inspecting parts of a seattle news helicopter that crashed this week. the n-t-s-b posted these photos to its twitter page today. the komo helicopter crashed tuesday near the space needle. killing the two people on board. one person on the ground was hurt. n-t-s-b investigators say they should have a preliminary report on the crash in a few days. but it will take about a year to finish the full report seattle police have released new images of the scene of kurt cobain's death. police say with the 20th anniversary of the nirvana frontman's suicide approaching, they knew they'd be getting plenty of questions. investigators came across

the new photos when they were going through the cobain case files. they saw drug paraphernalia in two previously unseen photos. police have now linked the man suspected of killing mendocino county sheriff's deputy ricky del fiorentino. to another murder. police in oregon believe ricardo chaney killed 79- year- old bundy wasson. wasson was found shot to death in eugene, oregon on wednesday. authorities arrived at his home as it was going up in flames. chaney was shot to death by another officer after allegedly shooting deputy del fiorentino. kron 4's scott rates went to napa, where the deputy grew up. and talked with people who knew him. gil schmit struggling as he thinks about the loss of a man who he says was much more then just a cousin. ricky, a graduate of napa high school back in 1983 demonstrated strength and poise even at a young age his name -- forever engraved on the wall in his high schools gym. les franco was his football coach and friend, he says not only was ricky a star wrestler and football

player, but also one of the most well liked students of campus in bay area news: a woman was rescued from the water off alameda's crown beach. emergency crews received a call about a woman in the water. just before seven last night. a rescue boat and swimmers on longboards went out in the water, and pulled her to shore. the woman is being treated at an alameda hospital. it's still unclear why she was in the water. stephen curry had 31 points and 11 assists, klay thompson scored 29 and the golden state warriors moved 18 games over.500 for the first time in 20 years with a 115-110 victory over the milwaukee bucks on thursday night. david lee added 22 points and 12 rebounds to help the warriors sweat out a tougher-than-expected game against the nba's worst team. golden state remains in sixth place in the tight western conference standings, 1½ games behind portland and 2½ games ahead of memphis and dallas with 12 games left. check out this wild finish in the texas arizona state

in their cells thursday. one man.in jail for allegedly resisting arrest.had spoken about hurting himself at contra costa county jail. he was put in a safety cell and checked on regularly, but was found unresponsive thursday and died at an area hospital. his name is being withheld until his next of kin is notified. officials are still investigating this death. another inmate was found hanging from a light fixture in yolo county jail. thirty-three year old raj singh was in jail on suspicion of domestic violence. a castro valley husband accused of killing his wife. was in court today. police say feng mi allegedly shot his wife at their home friday. mee has yet to be arraigned on murder charges. today he was provided with a court translator. however, the judge presiding over the case told mee, the court would not be paying for a translator because he is apparentley fluent in english. mee is due back in court next month. a mother is behind bars tonight. suspected of driving under the influence, and causing a crash in fremont.

the crash critically injured her four- year old daughter who later died. and injured another driver. it happened after midnight on march third. on osgood road near auto mall parkway. 33-year old patricia serratos' daughter died on march 8th. serratos was arrested at her fremont home on tuesday. officers also say, serratos put her daughter in a child seat. but did not secure that seat to the car. she is being held on charges of vehicular manslaughter. and child endangerment. an armed robbery at an east bay bart station leaves a man bruised.and now police are serching for two suspects. scary scene late yesterday afternoon. police say the victim was sitting in his car in the lower parking lot of the north concord - martinez young suspects drove up behind him.got out.walked to the victim's door.and demanded money. the victim gave up some cash.but one of the suspects then grabbed his wallet.and they started fighting for it.

the best lead yet was two objects picked up by satellite about 15-hundred miles southwest of perth, australia. malaysian officials now say they're preparing for a deep ocean salvage. its now been two weeks since the aircraft disappeared as it was travelling from kuala lumpur to beijing. with 239 people on board. the city of san jose says. the number of police officers on the street is falling -- and falling fast. right now, there are 970 street- ready officers. but according to projections, by june of 2016, the department will have only 879 street- ready officers. back in 2008. the department had 1,400. that was the year the city was forced to make drastic budget cuts. dozens of concerned willow glen neighbors listened to police officers and fire uphill battles with low staffing, and dwindling resources, leading to drastically increased response times. the police officers association says a proposed plan to add 200 officers to the police forces over the next few years is unrealistic unless there's a change to measure b. that's a voter-backed initiative that reduced benefits for new hires. coming up on the kron 4 morning news. thieves caught through
