the f-b-i has announced the indictment of 26-people in aruption scandal. including yee. the f-b-i conducted raids in several places throughout the city and the peninsula. yee -- who made gun control campaign -- is accused of connecting people with gun campaign donations. among as other things. kron-4's philippe djegal was in front of senator lee's home in san francisco when it all went down. silent and rushing his way through a crowd of reporters. state senator leland yee leaves the federal courthouse wednesday evening after being arraigned on corruption charges. and, once arriving at his home in san francisco -- again -- not a word. federal authorities accuse yee of accepting thousands

of dollars in cash and campaign contributions in return for political favors. and, in return for connecting an undercover fbi agent with an arms dealer. yee is now charged with conspiracy to traffic in firearms without a license and to illegally import firearms. he's also accused of six counts of defrauding citizens of honest services. yee was one of 20 people arraigned wednesday and 26 people cited in a criminal complaint. among others arraigned, yee's political consultant keith jackson, who is charged with a murder for hire conspiracy. also, one-time chinatown gangster raymond "shrimp boy" chow -- charged with money laundering,

conspiracy to receive stolen property, and conspiracy to traffic in stolen and contraband while chow is being held behind bars, yee was released on a 500 thousand dollar unsecured bond. yee's attorney had little to say about the charges against his client now, more on political consultant keith jackson. senator yee, and is accused of illegally soliciting thousands of dollars for yee's campaign. as kron 4's alecia reid reports, he's accused of trying to move weapons between coieuntrs. keith jackson is accused of soliciting funds for leland yee's secretary of state campaign, in exchange for connections to a weapons dealer. court papers say an undercover agent asked jackson to help him acquire up to 2 million dollars worth of missiles and automatic weapons. documents show jackson

assured the agent the deal would go through. the agent had to provide a shopping list. jackson was to turn it over to the arms dealer, who would then give the list to his nephew in the philippines. both senator yee and jackson would have been paid 100-thousand dollars. there's also reference to cocaine transaction. jackson connection between a dealer and a buyer. and there's mention of a murder for hire plot. court documents say when it came to criminal matters, jackson said he preffered to work with quote: "people in our circle" jackson is also accused of breaking up large sums of cash into legitimate campaign donations. also making sure money was sent to leland yee's campaign in exchange for introducing the undercover agent to influential state legislators involved in medical marijuana legislation. jackson is no stranger to politics. in the mid-90's he was the president of the san francisco board of education. and has since worked as a consultant. if convicted of all his charges, and serves consecutive terms, jackson is looking at 150 years in an

on another trip with him. this timehe handed out permission forms for those students to attend a spring break trip to yosemite. shortly after the forms were handed out, he was arrested. all of this got the attention of parents who were inquiring about background checks. as it turns out, there was no such policy in place. it happened because we did not review all the background check information and we should have. it's something i have spoken to the superintendant about and we have taken care of it. tonight we are codify and memorializing this practice. the school board debated the merits of the issue for about an hour and eventually came to a unanimous decision. background checks will now be required of any teacher applying for a position at the district. officials say,

425 is the time. the boston fire department is in mourning -- after a fire claimed the lives of two of its own, and injured more than a dozen others. andrew spencer has the details fueled by strong winds, flames quickly spread through the four-story building west of downtown boston. in 30 years, i've never seen a fire travel that fast, escalate that quickly, and create such havoc in such a short a period of time. more than 150 firefighters responded with about 25 fire trucks to the building on beacon street. they rescued a number of people stuck on upper

floors. at one point, an explosion blew firefighters down stairs. officials later announced the grim news. it's lieutenant ed walsh of engine 33. and firefighter michael kennedy, also of engine 33. it's a sad day for the city of boston. we lost two heroes here today. makes me proud to be mayor of the city of boston after watching the way the men and women of the boston fire department worked today.

san jose students are celebrating the life and legacy of civil rights leader cesar chavez today. students and their families will march from doris elementary school to the mexican heritage plaza for a celebration of the founder of the united farm workers union. today's march begins at 845 in the assembly at the plaza begins at 945. today marks 50 years since one of the most powerful earthquakes every quarter. on march 27th, 1964 a magnitude 9.2 quake hit prince william sound in alaska here in san francisco they're using the anniversary to train for the possibility of a large quick answer not here. emergency offices around the bay area was in today conducting readiness drills. according to the u.s. geological survey the 1964 earthquake was the second-largest ever measured anywhere in the world.

peter lee, executive director of color--covered california says that people will start an application on the state health insurance exchange by 11:59 p.m. monday will have until april 15th to finish. the announcement comes after the obama administration said it will allow people additional time to sign up in certain situations. with five days left to enroll for coverage of this year the state health insurance exchange is encouraging california's to sign up and avoid a tax penalty. you may soon be able to find out the fire department--

the boston fire department is in mourning -- after a fire claimed the lives of two of its own, and injured more than a dozen others. andrew spencer has the details fueled by strong winds, flames quickly spread through the four-story building west of downtown boston. in 30 years, i've never seen a fire travel that fast, escalate that quickly, and create such havoc in such a short a period of time. more than 150 firefighters responded with about 25 fire trucks to the building on beacon street. they rescued a number of people stuck on upper
