accident to report on interstate 80 off of pinole valley road. this car has spun out of lanes and that maybe this steamy, concern a great car fire and they are dealing with this. you may encounter that if you're going this route. >> the bridge check, as you will notice on interstate 80, the bay bridge approach of the toll plaza we have wet roadways for most of the bay area and the traffic is light with no problems reported. heading over to the san mateo bridge we have no incidents to report. the richmond center fell bridge you can say it is wet and we are seeing showers in that area. give yourself plenty of room between each car. >> the rain and lightning left major damages here in the bay area.

this is one example. witnesses say lightning made a tree in berkeley "explode." kron-4's alecia reid was near the spot where it happened, where residents in the area say it was pretty dramatic. a look at more storm damage. >> it will take awhile to clean up, lightning struck a tree and sent debris flying in both directions. this house is deemed to be unsafe and cannot be entered or occupied. the homeowner had to pack his items and leave. he stated that the past summer else to stay. cars had severe damage. four hours, crews cleaned up and boarded windows. neighbors stated that when the lightning struck it was very loud like a bomb exploding. >> eyespot our roof had exploded.i thought our roof had

exploded. >> property damage is left up to the homeowners and their insurance. >> in sausalito - lightning hit a tree that was touching the deck of a home early monday afternoon. the energy from the strike transferred to the home on spencer ave. blowing out several large windows and sliding glass doors. fire officials say the deck exploded and glass and bark were scattered throughout the inside of the house. none aum > >> the lightning struck the tree. their windows rattled and some of the other neighbors had broken windows. >> no one was home -- and nothing caught fire. the lightning knocked out power to a thousand homes in the area.

>> and in oakland. yet another lightning problem-- lighting hit a plane arriving at the airport. it was a scary moment for passengers on alaska airlines flight 2580. here's a similar planeit's operated by horizon air. the plane landed safely at oakland's airport around 1245 yesterday afternoon there was no damage - and no one was hurt. however that strike did inconvenience the passengers waiting to get on the plane's next flight. >> when we were getting ready to board, they stated that the plane was struck by lightning as they had to check the plane and it would be a couple hours. we waited about 20 minutes and they stated that we could get our bags and just route. >> the plane was grounded so it could be checked. it's expected to return to service this morning. >> coming up on kron 4 news.

>> welcome back. leland yee's attorney is questioning the government's case against his client. he raised concerns after yee was in court yesterday - to talk about his half-million dollar bond. kron 4's dan kerman has more from the federal courthouse in san francisco. >> the suspended senator did not one to answering questions after he left court yesterday. >> it took three years. >> he stated that he has concerned that the feds and did not have any confidence in their case and it focused on allegations that he
