this morning on the kron 4 morning news. fort hood is the scene of another shooting. the suspected gunman -- an iraq war veteran being treated for ptsd the military says he opened fire at the texas military base, the nation's largest.killing three people and wounding 16 others before killing himself. officials do not believe the incident is terror- related.

polo sandoval is live at fort hood with the latest information. 4 people are dead, 16 others injured, after a gunman opened fire at fort hood. the tragedy played out in a community that was hit by the same violence just five years ago. polo sandoval is there with the story. the sprawling army base in fort hood texas is yet again the scene of a shooting. this time, authorities say an army specialist killed three people before turning his gun on himself. 16-others were wounded. the base commander says specialist ivan lopez opened fire in one building, then driving to a second building. military police caught up to him as he started shooting in that second building. lieutenant general mark milley says lopez took his own life when one of the military police officers confronted him. "it was clearly heroic what she did at that moment in time, and she did her job, and she did exactly what we would expect of a united states military police" ivan lopez had only been stationed at fort hood since february, and had previously served four months in iraq. military officials say lopez was being treated for depression and anxiety, and was being evaluated for

post-traumatic stress disorder. "obviously, we are digging fifth deep into his background, any criminal or psychiatric off history, his experiences in combat." fast fan neighbors tried to console lopez's wife. "she was worried and she was crying, and she had a little girl with her, and i tried to console her and comfort her and let her know that everything was ok." as far as i knew he was a nice guy guy. he always smiled and waved. and that's about it. the shooting bears a sad resemblance to the 2009 mass shooting at fort hood. when major nidal hasan killed 13-people. and injured 32 others. he's now on death row. president obama says the government will get to the bottom of what happened in the shooting at fort hood.

this is mount hamilton east of san jose. it got about three-inches of snow in the latest storm. locals tell us snowstorms seem to be fewer and farther between in recent years -- with much less snow. but there was more than enough to lure michael murphy and his daughter, maryanne away from the city for a spring- break getaway. the superintendent of the lick observatory says, this was just the third time mount hamilton got any measurable snow this season. in years past, he says there have been as many as six days of snowfall.

authorities gave the all- clear at kent state university, after a gunman fired a bullet into the ground near a classroom building wednesday night. the gunshot apparently followed a dispute between a man and a woman. ten police agencies and a swat team responded. some buildings were put in lock-down mode while others were evacuated. the man was later arrested off-campus. five people have been arrested following an attack on a homeless man at a park in campbell last month. a 16-year-old boy was

68-year-old alicia vitug was last seen walking in the area of cypress street and glen court way. she is described as a 5- foot-1-inch asian woman, about 115 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. she was last seen wearing a white fleece sweater and black pants. police say vitug has been known to enter unlocked cars and urge residents to check backyards and cars officials in contra costa county have identified the body of a man found inside a car that was overturned and underwater in pittsburg.

an appeals court says a family can proceed with a lawsuit that claims a woman was frozen alive in a los angeles hospital freezer after she was mistakenly declared dead. didn't arroyo was placed in the freezer in july 2010. her body was later found face down, with a broken nose and cuts and bruises to her face. the family attorney says this is a case he has never seen before. a trial date has not yet been set. a spokesperson for the hospital says they can't comment on the matter, since it's in litigation. the family initially sued for mishandling of the body but refiled the case two years ago after a pathologist concluded the
