officers arrived on scene to find a man lying in the road suffering from at least one gunshot wound. the man was pronounced dead at the scene. a woman's body matching the description of a missing hiker on mount tamalpais has been found. search and rescue teams found 50-year old maria sanner of mill valley last night after searching all afternoon. police say that sanner and a male friend were out hiking late wednesday. sanner decided to head back, while her friend continued down the trail. sanner never made it to her car. her father became worried when he got a phone call about sanner's dog running free. the dog was waiting next to her car.

thursday afternoonlooking for 50 year old maria sanner of mill valley. police say that sanner and a male friend were out hiking late wednesday. the sun went down and sanner decided to head back, while her friend continued down the trail. sanner never made it to her car. her father became worried when he got a phoe call about sanner's dog

running free. lt. doug pittman marin county sheriff's department it wasn't until this morning, sometime late this morning that he was contacted because someone found her dog. when the father asked where the dog was located, he said the dog was running free in this parking lot at the mountain home in in mill valley. the dog was waiting next to her car. search crews were looking for her all afternoon but the search was called off when a body matching her description was found. all this comes less than a

week after the body of another female hiker was found on saturday. sheriff's deptuies say there doesn't appear to be any connection in the two cases. there is no immediate concerns at this point from us here at the sheriff's office. i know there has been some talk and some speculation about the recent body that was discovered last weekend, miss glinkowski, and if there is any association. i want to say right now that there doesn't appear to be any, none whatsoever, connection between the death investigation, that we are still investigating, from last weeke nd, and the missing person investigation that we are conducting here today. investigators say that they also do not see any signs of

foul play in this case. the body of another hiker was found on mount tamalpais over the weekend. police say, there were no signs of foul play in the case of missing hiker. magdalena glinkowski. she had been missing for nearly two- weeks. police are not yet sure exactly how glinkowski died. and say, it will take a couple weeks before they get results from toxicology tests. developing news from mount everest: at least six people are dead in an avalanche and another nine are missing. the dead are six local guides. the avalanche hit just below one of the camps this morning. it's one of the route used to climb the world's highest peak. four bodies have been recovered and rescuers are digging two more out of the snow. the sherpa guides had gone early in the morning to the area to fix the ropes for climbers.

jose police yesterday. school administrators reported the incident to police. investigators say, they found evidence which linked chang to the minor. chang is being charged with two felonies. the investigation is ongoing. frantic 9-1-1 calls capture

the chaos of the bus crash near chico last week along interstate five. yesterday, the c-h-p released the recordings from people describing the fiery wreck. shrieks can be heard in the background.as passengers who escaped the bus. struggled to describe the crash to dispactchers. the bus was carrying 44 southern california high school students to humboldt state university at the time.

five students died, as did three adult chaperones and the drivers of the fed ex truck and charter bus. investigators were at the scene yesterday, and they re-created the d crash.trying te out what caused this tragedy. kron-4's scott rates was there.and reports from orland.

ship went down. the captain was among the crew members who survived. right now there are only 28 confirmed dead. with more than 270 people still unaccounted for. the search of the wreckage had to be called off overnight. because of strong, dangerous currents, heavy rain and bad visibility. officials say divers will keep trying to enter the ship.

the outlook for obamacare is getting better, with more people enrolled overall and a much-needed surge of interest among young adults. the president announced that 8 million have signed up for insurance and that 35 percent of them are younger than 35. still, that's only a peek at what's going on with the nation's newest social program. the administration hasn't said how many were previously uninsured and how many actually secured coverage by paying their first month's premiums.

people killed in the explosion. some recalled hearing a large boom. and then seeing a big column of smoke. and immediately knew people had died. alameda county prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for the man accused of killing a little girl in oakland. police say darnell williams was the gunman who opened fire at a sleepover. they say he killed alayshia carradine, and wounded two other children and a 63- year-old woman. investigators say the shooting was a retaliation. prosecutors also say, williams is charged with

another murder in berkeley. the last time alameda county prosecutors sought the death penalty. was almost ten years ago. cal- osha is fining bart for an accident that killed two maintenence workers during last year's bart strike. the state safety agengy has fined bart 210-thousand- dollars for three safety violations. a bart train hit and killed laurence daniels and christopher sheppard last october. while they were inspecting the tracks between the walnut creek and pleasant hill stations.

a 21 -year old san bruno man was arrested at a-t&t park during wednesday night's hoss giants game. after he allegedly tossed a large firecracker from the bleachers. police say, paolo pavone tossed what is believed to be an m-80 into a bar area at the bottom of the seventh inning.

five fans suffered minor injuries. officers were able to take the suspect into custody. after other fans pointed him out. we spoke to one fan back at the ballpark, who heard the explosion and saw the smoke. ".stadium to hear."

only on kron 4 this morning-- there is an investigation underway to determine how so much garbage ended up on one street in oakland. it was more than anyone has seen at one time. which had investigators and city officials scratching their

heads illegal dumping in oakland is a problem we have been following for a long while. city leaders even took action to address it. now, kron four's stanley roberts gets to the bottom of this particular incident. in this edition of people behaving badly. you are looking at a whole lot of trash that covered what seemed like a h of an entire city block it was marked off as a citizen crime scene and even brought out oakland fire and the alameda county da's office the district attorney investigator stated that he had never seen anything of this magnitude but vowed to get to the bottom of how all this trash ended up on a city street it was trash from all around the bay because they found bills from as close as oakland and as far away as lafayette but no one seemed

to have a clue how this much trash got here photos were taken and letters with address were photographed and cataloged looking for any al all evidence so whoever dumped all this trash could be identified nothing was overlooked, even this bottle of miller high life which seemed out of place was tagged and bagged oakland vice mayor larry reed came by and voiced his displeasure in how some people appear to have no respect for oakland so was it some mad dumper coming into oakland with rampped disrespect for the citizens of oakland or was it a case of be careful what you wish for or a little bit of both

well apparently the alameda county district attorney got right on the case and tracked down a suspect and a possible motive they looked at surveillance video and this is that they found out when the east oakland beautification council ended its hugely successful amnesty dumping program two days early and some well some people didn't quite get the memo all they say was this add telling people there was free dumping from april 12 to april 16th so on april 16 all the last minute dumpers showed here and well unloaded what they have including this giant stuffed blues clues dog, this vintage television and well containers of oil stuffed in a fish tank everything possible was dumped here including the bathroom sink but what was learned here:

this morning. a woman's body matching the description of a missing hiker on mount tamalpais has been found. search and rescue teams found 50-year old maria sanner of mill valley last night after searching all afternoon. investigators say that they also do not see any signs of foul play in this case. c-h-p released frantic calls to police from the scene of last week's deadly crash between a tractor-trailer and tour bus carrying students. investigators remain on the scene trying to determine the cause of the crash that left 10 people dead. the bus was carrying 44 southern california high school students to humboldt state university on april 10. lossand at least six people are dead after an avalanche wipes out a climbers camp on mt. everest. 9 others remain missing this morning. the six people killed were guides who left the camp early to prepare the climbing route.

san jose police are investigating the death of a baby. that was left in a car for more than nine- hours. the boy's father telling police, he forgot to drop his 9-month-old son at the babysitter's, before parking here on payne avenue where he picked up a truck for his job. servicing vending machines. a friend of the father, who lives in the house where the car was parked, said he was home all day and had no idea the child was still inside. so far, no charges have been filed against the father. the case been passed on to investigators with the district attorney's office for further review. new details this morning about a teen girl found naked, pepper sprayed, and crying for help in berkeley.

at a restaurant in the shopping center on macdonald boulevard tuesday evenng. two people were shot. one of them a minor. they're both expected to survive. police are also looking for a silver or gray infiniti s-u-v. connected to the crime.

life. the newfound planet, called kepler-186f, is slightly bigger than earth and may support liquid water. it was spotted by scientists using nasa's kepler space telescope. the planet circles a red dwarf star about 490 light- years away. nasa says it is the first definitive earth-sized planet in the habitable zone of another star. still ahead. president obama says he hopes russia follows through with its agreement with ukraine, but he's also being realistic, given russia's previous actions. russia could face more sanctions if it doesn't call for separatists to give up their weapons. and ukraine's new government

many of those accused in a federal corruption case, could soon be facing some stiff new charges. among the 29 defendants. is suspended state senator leland yee, who is accused of conspiracy to traffic and import firearms, and trading political favors for cash. during a hearing yesterday, the u-s attorney says he plans to file racketeering charges against several of the defendants. an updated indictment is due in july. meantime, lawyers from both sides are hard at work, so the prosecution's evidence can be shared with defense attorneys. today marks 108 years since

friday night lights. we are seeing more cars on the road. barack easy conditions in san francisco. drive time 12 to 13 minutes. over on their traffic map what about a drive time. a ride of under 25 minutes and his san francisco. james? a >>james: today marks 108 years since the devastating earthquake struck san francisco. leading to fires that killed more than three thousand people. and destroying about 80 percent of the city. the mark the anniversary, the annual ceremony at lotta's fountain begins at 5 then at 5:11 a-m, sirens will sound at the moment the quake struck. then from 5-40 to 6, on 20th and church streets. officials will paint the gold fire hydrant that helped stopped the spread of the fire that broke out after the earthquake. other ways to commemorate the anniversary include painting two fire hydrants which were crucial to the 1906 post-quake fire fight. the "silver hydrants" are located on the corner of

sun killed every syllable he was on ran into a channel marker buoy in the san francisco bay. the crash also seriously injured another man on the 42 ft. boat. the accident happened during a noncompetitive races involving 30 other boats. the cause of the crash is still under investigation. however, authorities have ruled out alcohol as a factor. and also, this week marks the two-year anniversary of another deadly hot accident three the accident happened near san francisco's fa rallon islands. you can see a photograph of what remained on the boat. authorities said one person was killed. the bodies of four others also on the boat were never found. officials

at the right now shooting in richmond. kron4's will tran is live. >>will: welt james you can see if this is still an active scene. this was a robbery. where it appears the victim and the suspect both should be shown free to send a gift of his rush to a local hospital. there's a kaiser a couple miles away. at last check he is in critical condition. they're focusing on that door. people were inside at the time. suspects don't have any information we do know he also shot in the hospital. we will talk to investigators as soon as they're done. at this point it does not appear to be a deadly gun battle between the victim and suspect. but as you can see this thing is still active. doesn't look like police are going anywhere.
