a fast moving fire

threatened about 40 homes in antioch overnight. the flames moved quickly and came with in block of diablo vista elementary school. crews were able to hold the fire to about 4 acres. one area resident suffered smoke inhalation. the cause of the fire remains under investigation. and 5 suspicious grass fires in the oakland hills are cause for concern. oakland 's fire chief says the area of the fire. and around the same time leads the department to believe there were not accidental.

a blood alcohol level of point-12. an inmate who escaped from san francisco county jail earlier this month was located at a san francisco homeless shelter. timothy midgett escaped on june 7 when he was escorted to the basement of the hall of justice to take out the trash to the building's dumpster. midgett took advantage of an open door and ran away. the supervising deputy ran after him but couldn't catch up. he was found last night at the st. vincent de paul society's homeless shelter and now faces felony escape charges. following the escape, the sheriff's department is conducting a review of its policies and procedures. traffic officers in san mateo county will be on the lookout today for speeding motorists in well-known trouble spots in south san francisco and san bruno. around two dozen officers
