good morning and happy friday everyone. thanks for stopping your morning off with can kron morning news. take a look at your temperatures. humidity is high right now, san francisco at 64 degrees leaving the house to 63 degrees in livermore. we do have some heavy drizzle along the coastline and along our base shores. we are dealing with damp roads, but a lot of that is going to burn off by the afternoon.

speaking of the afternoon, temperatures near seasonal today. expect a few high passing clouds and temperatures mainly in the 70s and 80s. santa claire looking good. 77 degrees in mountain view. warmest reading, checking with the high of 87. if you like 80s wee see that in fairfield, pittsburgh, so cooler concerns naturally along the waterfront. open beach today, 77, oakland today at 77 degrees. and as are facing off against the orials. expect temperatures to start off in the 70s. looking ahead here, here's your seven day, around the bay forecast. we'll see an increase in cloud cover associated with a system. a disturbance actually

approaching the southern california coastline. it is going to push a lot of cloud cover, maybe some sprinkle into the bay area by sound. high pressure as we build into the middle of next week. enjoyable summer-like conditions. upper 70s for our base shoreline and upper 60s for the coast. 5:17 is the time right now. hey, george. >> we are tracking an accident in the south bay that has shut down the lawrence expressway off ramp from northbound highway 101. it is closed for the investigation of a fatal accident. those investigates can take some time, so it is likely that this closure will be in place at least for another hour, possibly an hour and a half, 6:30 to 7:00 is the estimated opening time. we are starting to see a little slowing around the 237, 101 interchange. that is not in connection with

this accident. north 880, a crash there, that sent debris across all of the lanes still pretty light, watching the crews getting it cleared. an accident just off the roadway westbound 580 at greenville adding to the slow traffic already starting to form heading into livermore. looking at your bay bridge ride, it is a light and easy commute here. no problems getting from the maze. and 92 and easy ride, and a look at the golden gate bridge commute where we are delay free for 101 southbound. looks like another wet deck there this morning. >> well that's the sound of bullets ricocheting off the suv used in the get away in stockton. it ended in a caught out and

all caught on camera, caught in the middle, an that, an innocent hostage. >> on thursday, the police chief eric jones said the department believe the three suspect ins this case intentionally took hostages with the intent of using them as human shields. >> the three heavily armed suspects exited the bank with two employees and one customer of the bank as hostages. they used them as shields during a stand off and got into a vehicle. they also said during an hour long chase, the suspects may have been trying to target police officers in all 14 police cruisers were damaged by june fire. jones described one encounter where he saw the suspects exiting off the highway. >> when he stopped and lie and wait while one of the suspects pointed the assault rifle at the officers who we believe were about to be ambushed.

our officer fired several rounds at the suspect vehicle causing the suspects to flee again. >> a short time later the chase came to a violent end when police were able to disable the suspect's vehicle here along thoraton. >> they returned fire until the gunfire from the suspects stopped. the gunman had not the slightest intent of a peaceful resolution. >> in the end, two suspects and one hostage were killed, one man was taken into custody and two other hoss damages remain hospitalized. in stockton, ckron4 news. and a meeting was he would, to keep the a's in oakland. the amendments made by the city on that deal could hold things up. >> deal? no deal, staying or leaving. what exactly is the deal with the a's in the city? >> 99.999% of that contact is exactly the same.

>> last night the city approving a deal that would keep the a's playing at odot for the next 10 years, however it is not exactly the deal the a's approved. >> we thought it was important to have clarity rather than am -- so there are no disagreements later later. >> if a deal was reached to build a new football only stadium for the raiders. another one of the amendments includes clarification that would allow the a's to leave oakland in the end of 2018, babe the biggest change would free the city if they would violate the terms of their lease. the principle believes the amendments are reasonable. >> so i want to emphasize we want to change the basic deal points. the a's have the total benefit that were bargained. there were clarifications that

were needed. so i'm very hopeful that they will see the benefit of having resolution and will move on. >> now, other city council members, i spoke with, tell me that they believe that the amendments add to this deal could be a deal breaker for the a's if by some chance the a's do approve the deal, it would then go to vote with the county board of supervisors. that vote is scheduled to take place july 29th. basketball to football, now the 49ers rolled out the welcome mat. we have them cutting the ribbon there for the opening and levi stadium, eight years in the planning and two years after ground breaking the $1.3 billion stadium. first, new nfl stadium built, and they say this is just the beginning. >> this is going to stay host to many unbelievable events. already, we've locked up super

bowl 50, wrestle mania, soccer games, concerts, there is also going to be great entertainment experiences on a daily basis here. you can take tours of levi stadium. we have an unbelievable stadium that showcases them. >> before the ribbon cutting ceremony, there was a salute to thousands of construction members and the two that died during the construction. here you see the workers being applauded by everybody. the first supporting event will be a soccer game. the san jose earthquakes playing on august second. realtors across the country taking a new approach to show off the residential homes. they are using drone aircraft to have pictures of the property they are trying to sell. however the federal aviation prohibits drone use. there is a potential 10,000- dollar fine for violators. many realtors are testing the law's limits trying to boost business by using low-flying

it's new. welcome back to the kron 4 morning news. texas will open a new immigrant processing facility today that will be used for children. immigration will be able to handle up to a thousand unaccompanied minors inside this 55-thousand square foot facility. in a system of wire mesh cages. children will sleep on foam rubber pads on the floor. they'll be at the site before being shipped to temporary shelters. on a bay area weather and traffic, as the kron 4 morning news continue ins just two minutes. fo wholesomerain

good morning! welcome back to the news. starting with a live look from out of roof camera. cloudy conditions, and even some drizzle along the coastlines, we aren't seeing my moisture on the satellite and radar imagery, that will start to clear up through the afternoon. take a look at your day planner for the next couple days, so today we'll see low 80s inland, and mid-60s for the coast, this is pretty much where temperatures should be for this time of the year. a little bit of a warm up for the weekend, we are talking a slight chance of rain for sunday. passed that, dry weather concerns and temperatures continue to warm. so the full details on what to expect your seven day around the bay coming up shortly. for now, here's a look at traffic. good morning, george. >> good morning. i'm going to change things up a

little bit here, we have a picture you have of the golden gate bridge. take a look you'll see the crews are at work on the bridge and actually working on changing over the pylons, in is being set up for the morning community and that's why you see the one leading and one trailing truck. they are working here in the southbound destruction as -- direction as you can see. if you're heading to the bridge soon, you'll find the bridge had already been set up by the time you get there. let's get to the traffic maps and point out the incidents we're following. first of all, the closure of the off ramp, expected to remain closed for at least another hour, 6:30 to 7:00 is the opening time, a fatal accident ovnight, that's why the investigation there on the ramp has it closed. also, the accident that we were tracking here, this is cleared now, they've managed to clear the debris from the lanes.

barrels were struck there. westbound 580 was not as backed up as we feared with an accident on greenville road with a greenville left the roadway. starting to see a backup forming for the westbound community. thank you george. fire fight on the scene of a house fire in san francisco. we're live right now with the latest. jackey? >> this is a difficult one not for the fire fighting reasonings, but because of the logistics of getting here. i'm on holiday, about a block and a half away on may flower. it's one lane road, here's some video from earlier this morning, not a lot of information right now. we do know it was a single-home fire that occurred on the 300 block of may flower hawaii we're also hearing is it was a

marijuana grow house. i just had to talk to talk to ab official, who says the house was illegally wired, which meant they were stealing -- once they did, they were able to put out the flames relatively quickly. it appears as though nobody has been hurt we're waiting to get official word from the fire department and or the san francisco police department. as i said, it was difficult just to get here for the firefighters. the good news it appears it is out right now. as soon as we get some more confirmation, exactly how many plants were inside of this home we'll passed it along. it appears it was about 100 marijuana plants inside this home. >> we'll check back with you. 5:33, the clock has run out for cannabis dispensaries. the deadline to collect enough

signatures to change the new rules was midnight. they were at city hall where marijuana advocates made a last- minute push for signatures. >> once the ordnances take affect on friday, the city says that dispensaries will have one year to come into compliance with the knew rules. the club owners say their real deadline is much sooner. >> i think it is just terrible. >> medicinal marijuana advocates have been camping out all week across from city hall. >> they got alcohol legal, why that night they have marijuana legal? >> camping out in hoping to get signatures to get the city council to adopt two referendums to the new ordnances or have them put on a ballot some time next year. >> i believe we have collected 100,000 signatures. he says he and the other more than 70 dispensary owners have 30 days from the time the new ordnances were passed to collect enough signatures to successfully qualify the

referendum. and those 30 days are up. >> it's actually look really good. >> we feel like we will have a success. we won't know until they verify the votes. >> they restrict where and howdies they can operate. saying it will be too expensive for club owners to consider. >> it is going to be really bad. within 90 days, the city will start doing enforcement letters, and then within a year, it will be down to the seven or eight that the city estimates. >> she supports the referendum because she says she doesn't like the alternative. >> there is going to be more dope dealers selling more weed, more people in jail going to prison for selling marijuana. >> cannabis patient has glaucoma and says marijuana is his best medication. >> what will you do if you don't have access to the

dispensary? >> i'm not sure. maybe go blind. >> the city says that the dispinsries that sec saysfly complete the registration process can legally operate in the city. at city hall, kron 4 news. a domestic violence call resulted in an officer-involved shooting. kron 4's reporter explains what happens. >> several 911 calls were received around 4:30 in the afternoon reporting a domestic violence situation on east 14 14th street and 168th avenue. a deputy arrived on scene and saw a man beating a woman so violently that he dropped his motorcycle on the ground so that he could rescue her. >> he was smashing her head off the side of the car, violently, according to our witnesses and he was dragging her up and down the sidewalk and repeatedly beating her. >> the deputy was able to stop the beating, the batterer then

got into his car and tried to run the deputy and the woman over with his car. the officer shot the suspect several times to stop him from driving into both of them. the suspect died at the scene. you can see the suspect's car in this video from abc 7. police say this is not his first encounter with police. >> this appears to be at this point a domestic violence-type incident. we've looked into the suspect's criminal history. there are cases and reports of domestic violence along with reports of drugs and weapons possession. the suspect, from what i'm hearing, was recently released from prison. >> a sfo a passenger posing as a security agent lured two women in a security room and patted them down. the women went onto catch their flights but that man was allegedly drunk at the time.

obstructed we do have moisture in the air, it is not actually showing up on satellite and radar. you'll probably need to use those windshield wipers for the next couple of hours or so, but beyond that, we are looking for some of the cloud cover to start to break apart just high clouds and some sunshine filtered sunshine by the afternoon. now temperatures are near seasonal today. what that means is a lot of 70s and 80s for places like the south bay. 77 in mountain view. and 78 for the lower peninsula. we'll see low 80s for places like pittsburgh, upper 70s through the valley, now will hold onto cooler weather along the waterfront, that includes richmond at 53. and daily city with a high of 64. as we look out your seven day around the bay forecast. we're going to see an increase in cloud cover into the weekend. sunday we do have some chips -- changes to talk about.

it is going to be muggy thanks to a system approaching the southern california coastline. that's going to guide some cloud cover to the bay area. we are looking at a 10% chance of an isolated shower or two. beyond that it will be a little warmer with that pattern of morning fog, afternoon sunshine and 90s as we head into the weekend. let's take a look at the roads, here's george. >> as we start to look at the bridges, looking first at the bay bridge where the lights have just been activated and traffic is backing up to the 880 over crossing, for the westbound trip from the beginning to the backup to the san francisco anchorage. highway 92 with no delays and an eleven-minute community time over towards foster city. and if you're heading to the golden gate bridge the crews have finished with their reconfiguration of the lanes

breaking news out of atnti, ch. >> the final report on the -- >> kron 4. the bay area news station. 5:57, the time for newborn seal cubs. the birthing season, i should say for these seals is happening right now. during the season in a lot of newborns get separated from their mothers, this isn't the first case they have a need for a new home for the seal, that's what they are doing before they release them back to the wild. several lost pups. they have taken care of 40 so far since the last month alone. hopefully they can get them back out to sea. we'll be right back.
