his 50s suffering from several stab wounds. the lone suspect was taken into custody. lieutenant jason dyer said that the victim and suspect live in that home. >> we will look if police has ever been called out to that house before. so far we know that he is known to be here in san jose. we know that the suspect is known to us, the victim and suspect knew each other. there's no eminent danger to the public. the guy who committed the stabbing is in custody. police officers say that a woman was stabbed one time but her injuries are not life threatening. one person is dead after a

two car crash on interstate 80. the incident happened around 12:30 this morning. we lane was closed for nearly 3 hours due to the crash. the victim has not been identified. also in vallejo, a firefighter was injured. it happened last night in sonoma and york street. firefighters were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries but hospital officials say they're expected to be okay. in santa clara, an elderly woman was killed in a car accident on monroe street. a woman in her early 30s was backing out of her drive way when they hit and killed the elderly woman. neighbors say the victim would have been tough to see, especially since she wasn't at

the crosswalk. >> there's bushes and things that come out of. the side where you were looking, you could have looked twice and then there's someone right there. >> police have not released the identity of the woman. they believe she lived in the area. quan says the change will give her time to attend to city business. her driving has been scrutinized since june. the first time when she was caught using a cell phone while driving, and a fender bender that damaged a city issued car. quan is running for reelection this november. a 70-year-old hunter was shot by one of his companions. the napa sheriff's department

said that the sacramento man was shot during the opening day of deer season when another member accidentally dropped his rifle and he was rushed to a local trauma center for treatment. no word yet on his condition. police in solina is asking for your help about a shooting. the two victims were 26 and 22 years old and both later died. anyone with information that is asked to call soly nsa police. . a textbook, some parents are complaining that it's inappropriate to some students. the superintendent is recommending to put using the

>> clean up efforts are still under way in hawaii from tropical storm iselle. the storm hit the islands earlier this week knocking downpour lines, phone lines, and trees. no reports of major injuries. now they're bracing for hurricane julio, which has been downgraded to a category 1 hurricane. it's expected to come near the islands today but is not expected to make landfall. what can people in hawaii expect? >> good morning. there could be some rains, stronger winds, high surf advisories have been issued for the coastline. as you see, you can see that

they're working to diagnose him. janice was reported missing last weekend. the 17-year-old suspect live in the same bremerton area as janice. . a missouri teen is dead after being shot by police. he was unarmed and dorian is his name. he was walking home from a convent store. he then said a police officer in a car told him to get off of the street. johnson said they kept walking causing the officer to confront the boys. the officer got out of his car, and fired a shot. johnson and brown then ran away but johnson said the officer continued to shoot and many are now demanding answers. >> he shot again, and once my

and father. police are calling this a likely incident. officers responded just after 6:00 last night after the 600 block of charter oak place. they found a man in his 50s stabbed multiple times. he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. san jose police arrested the man in his 20s in connection with the stabbing. they found him 5 blocks away. san jose police will try to recreate what happened but they're investigating this as a domestic incident. >> as part of the investigation, they're going to look if the police has ever been called out to the house before, had we had contact with the suspect. he is known to the police here in san jose. the victim, we're going to look at if he or anyone is involved here is someone we have talked to in the past. the guy who's responsing to this

by 8:00 this evening, it looks like widespread 60s throughout the bay. let's break down the highs expected in your neighborhood today. mountain view 75. redwood city, 7 degrees cooler than where we should be. if you like 80s, you'll see that in the san ramon valley. downtown san francisco, reaching the upper 60s. 72 in oakland. napa at 78 and a few degrees cooler than that in santa rosa. the possibility for some unsettled weather as we head into early next week. if we see rain drops, it will be for the north bay and east bay. look for a 10% chanceful we're going to tap into some subtropical moisture. thunderstorms are in the forecast for the sierra nevada. we could see some lightning strikes which is dangerous

welcome back, the redwood city fire crew is being send to help in san medy mendocino. they were air lifted to the burn center at uc davis. three of them are from the south bay and other five are inmate firefighters. they issued an evacuation order for the area that stretches across 6 communities. the fire was started by lightning on july 30th and charred more than 7,000 acres. it's now 30% contained. let's take you to hawaii where clean up efforts are under way after tropical storm iselle. it knocked down phone lines, power lines, and trees.

serious issue. >> for most people, it's that standby of 8 glasses per day. for seniors is it different? >> new york city they still need to be consuming 8 glasses of water a day. what we try to tell people if they're not interested in drinking water maybe you can dilute it with some cranberry juice or lime to make it interesting. that makes a big difference. >> hydrating is important, just as it is for anyone at any age. what are some other tips you have for people who are in the senior age group? >> one of the thing that is people can do is eat a lot more vegetable and truts. think of watermelon or tomatoes, they have a lot of water content in them. that hydrates a senior. >> what else can you, in terms of food. >> in terms of food, again lots

of veggies, not so much protein. stay away from that. >> why is that? >> that will pull away the water from a person's body. >> so air conditioning is also important but a lot of senior are on fixed income and we hear about these tragic stories about people living in an apartment or home with air conditioning but they don't turn it on because the electric bill. >> exactly, we encourage penal to put a fan up that's less costly, take a cool bath or shower in the afternoon, to cool them down. go towards the lighter clothing, things that can just keep that body temperature down. >> household chores. >> yes, stay away from that. do something early in the morning, in the evening, but stay away from doing a lot during the day when it's hot. >> yeah, it seems like you want to keep the house as cool as possible, that means shutting the blinds.

>> yes, keeping the shades down, and many times keeping your windows closed. we have the same thing where we live, we try to keep the blinds closed down to keep the house cooler. >> a lot of times they find themselves in situations where they're overheated. when can you tell? >> you can see that people are becoming lethargic, they're not thinking clearly, and when we observe that, you can call the doctor or 9-1-1. don't take the chance. it's better to be safe than sorry. >> are there any ore warning signs that you see in a senior that you know what, this is something that needs medical attention. >> yeah, when you see them really lee that are jibbing, not a lot of energy, not thinking clearly, that's really when we need to take some action. >> thank you very much.

fellow driver, 20-year-old kevin ward jr.. we have video of the accident but it could be disturbing for some viewers. you can see tony stewart spinning out kevin on the 14th lap. kevin ward jr. was extremely upset. he is trying to confront stewart about the spin out and he is walking towards stewart's car. we stop the video before he was hit and thrown about 50 feet. ward was taken to the hospital where he later died. one man is dead and another person is in custody after a double stabbing in san jose that mark it is city's 24th homicide this year. kron 4's mike pelton is live at the scene. >> this is a likely domestic incident. they're not commenting on the specific relationship between the suspect and the victim. >> reporter: this morning, a neighbor who knows the family well say it is man is the

in iraq calling on leaders in baghdad to unite against sunni militants. tens of thousands of minorities have fled into the mountains and into neighboring syria in efforts to escape the militant group isis. they prompted the u.s. to launch air strikes for the first time since 2011. isis groups continue to advance and kill innocent people. they are confirming that war planes an drones pounded areas in iraq. they killed at least 16 isis fighters. the air strikes will continue in iraq and there's no timetable on when they will end. >> so far these strikes have successfully destroyed arms and

injured 40 others. it was a typhoon and then was later downgraded. it's headed towards the sea of japan and it's packing strong winds with gusts up to 67 miles per hour. advisories has been issued for more than 1.5 million people. . >> cleanup everies are on the way for dr clean up efforts are still on the way for damage from tropical storm iselle. they're bracing for hurricane julio which has been downgraded to a category 1 hurricane. they're expected to come near the islands today but is not expected to make land fall. they're even tracking a little further north. >> and tracking all that is erica kato. good morning.

>> it's 330 miles north of hilo right now. it has been downgraded to a category 1 with winds at 90 miles per hour. as we look at the forecast track, it sticks well to the north. it's not going to bring rain and wind to the area. as we head into monday, it's just going to be a tropical storm with cooler sea surface temperatures and stronger wind shear. it's going to lessen the impact of the storm. we are looking at rough surf. we do have surf advisory eastward facing parts of the islands. and in addition to that, we could see waves up to 13 feet. this is something that we're going to continue to monitor. as for the bay area, this is a live look at the golden gate bridge. temperatures are in the upper 50s, low 60s. as we head into the afternoon. look for a mix of sun and clouds. fairfield today at 80, 67 in san francisco, and 80 degrees in san

three of them from the south bay and other five are inmate firefighters. they issued an evacuation order for the area that stretches across 6 communities. it was started by lightning on july 30th. officials say it's now 30% contained. investigators in washington state arrested a teenager because of the death of a 16-year-old girl. her body was found in a wooded area near her home. the 17-year-old suspect lived in the same bremerton area as janice. he has been booked on suspicion of second degree murder, manslaughter, and rape. a teenager is dead after being shot by police. dorian johnson was walking home from a convenient store with his friend mike brown. a police officer in a car told him to get out of the street. they kept walking, causing the officer to confront the boys

we've been starting the day with overcast skies, erica kato is here to tell us how long that's going to last. >> we will see a mix of sun and clouds by the early afternoon, in fact, we're seeing breaks of sunshine for places like livermore and concord. here's a look at all the cloud cover from our cam, but we have something to talk about, an area of low pressure parked off the coastline and it's spinning and it's going to top into some subtropical moisture, it could bring some isolated showers as we head into tomorrow. it doesn't look too likely. a lot of the models are backing off in that possibility. we could see some rain in that sierra nevada. this area of low pressure will bring our temperatures down and it will bring drizzle to our coastline and deepen the marine layers and bring in cloudy conditions. pleasant and 86. napa at 70 degrees.

welcome back, time now 9:45, happy sunday. maybe you have plans to go outside. we are looking at some clouds and some drizzle. here's erica to fill you in. what can we expect. >> looks like a much cooler day ahead. we're looking at temperatures 7 degrees cooler than where we should be this time of the year. off to a cloudy and drizzly start. temperatures aren't too bad right now. 63 in livermore. look at the satellite and imagery. we do have an upper level low right now parked off the california coastline. that's going to pull some showers into the bay area.

some isolated showers in the east bay but it's backing off, we're going to keep a 10 % chance in the forecast of this area of low pressure. it's going to bring extensive cloud cover and drop our temperatures. you're going to see mainly 70s and 80s out there. fremont 87. union city at 77. downtown san francisco looking at a high of 67. 62 close to ocean beach. 72 degrees in oakland. here's your 7 day around the bay forecast. cooler weather on the way. we're talking about the possibility of some showers, foggy conditions through the rest of the week but slightly warmer weather as we wrap up the week. so thursday into friday, you're going to see those temperatures climb as we head into next weekend, we're going to be this the low 90s inland and mid-60s for the coast.

video of him riding his bike at golden gate park. he does spend some time here. let's talk about the exhibit you have going on celebrating 50 years of the beatles. >> it began a number of years ago. we have become the central location for all beatles photographs worldwide. that's right there. >> yeah. >> so, i have about 100 photograph that is are accumulated. they sort of do a survey. remember, the beatles change every 6 months. if you look at that, that's a video set up by patty, she sent that in for the show. the contributors of the show include ringo. that's a self portrait. he selected us to represent him in america. so we have the video that patty

until 2019. then they broke up and it's 50 years since the break up. since we worked closely with a lot of people that worked with the beatles, we have anniversaries coming up for a decade probably i would say. >> why is there still this fascination with this group? i mean when you look at it, they were only together for 10 or 12 years, but yet their music goes on. >> it's funny, i knew you were going to ask me a question like that. i think there's something about the beatles that stand out, a lot of bands and groups at the time saw the beatles as unintentional trail blazers. they were passionate about their music, they were on a mission. and, to become a great artist, whether you're a painter or actor, you have to be audacious, and have a dream and pursue it. the beatles were unafraid to change. at the peak of their
