definitely getting top billing, the largest quake of the day but not the only quake of the day. 3.5 struck at 9:00 a.m. but if you zoom in closer you'll see the swarm of earthquakes. here's the 3.5 in the 9:00 a.m. hour. however we did have several more strike in the same hour. a 2.4 this one three and a half four miles in depth. we also had a 2.1 at 950 in the morning and also one at 939, 1.3 in magnitude and 1.7 in magnitude just before the 10:00 a.m. hour so a swarm of earthquakes centered around the gill roy area none stronger than 3.5 but strong none the less. >> the small quakes in the south bay come as people in the napa area continue to rebuild. they are trying to get their lives back to normal last

month. one of the few schools that remained closed after the quake will reopen tomorrow as scheduled. kron4 scott rates is live tonight in napa with more. scott? >> you can see right here this is a red cross service center that's opened up in napa and you can see a lot of people coming in and leaving to get assistance. it is open right now, red cross representatives out here helping people, taking them into a back room and assisting them any way they can. roll some video shot just a few minutes ago. this service center opened around 10:00 a.m. and so far they've had at least 100 people come through here. all kinds of coordinations going on to meet with case workers to find out what resources might be available too them such as shelters, mental health assistance and anything else. >> we can work with people so

they are able to can connect with different programs being offered by a lot of non profits and by people in the city so it's a really great opportunity for people to find the resources that they need. >> now i'm told this service center will remain open tonight until 7 and will stay open throughout the week really as long as it is needed. reporting live in napa scott rates kron4 news. there's big news the nfl days after the league's new policy on domestic violence the first arrest and player in trouble is ray mcdonald. grant is here with details on how long the 49ers could be without him. >> well in the short term that's unclear but this came just less than 48 hours after the nfl's big new crackdown. mcdonald was arrested on felony domestic violence charges early sunday morning, police

responding to the domestic violence call early that morning in an upscale neighborhood at his home. officers saying they had probable cause and made the arrest without incident. the 29-year-old posted $25,000 in bail money and was released on his way out he said i can't say too much right now but the truth will come out. i'm a good hearted person. meanwhile reporting his fee yan is he showed officers bruises to her arm and neck and he was trying to drag her out of the home who is 10 months pregnant. the 49ers take this seriously and are gathering more info before commenting further. he's played for the team since he was drafted in 2007. nfl commissioner roger faced intense criticism after suspending ravens running back

day out here. according to park rangers a gentleman 22 years old and his girlfriend. he decided to go further out and was caught in a rip current. at one point he told park rangers he couldn't swim anymore. he was that tired but there was a surfer in the area able to help him. the catch is emergency crews went out there when in fact this man had been caught in the water was already on the shore. she was watching some of these search efforts and during that time life guards went out and had a very hard time getting back when they finally learned he was safely on shore but the good news here those life guards were also able to get back to shore. i did speak with one of those life guards. we'll hear what he had to say about this incident tonight at 6. live in san francisco. jr stone kron4 news. it was just yesterday afternoon that two men had to be rescued north of ocean

dollars. there is breaking news right now out of son yoma county. a grass fire is burning there.

grant is there with breaking details. >> just getting into the news room. a county fire has been on the scene. apparently multiple structures are involved. a vegetation fire last gotten some homes involved. this is near summer home park road and laurel avenue in forestville. crews got there at 3: 30. this patch here is not at liberty to disclose if there are any injuries. this may have been started by a propane tank explosion. that part is not confirmed. firefighters are there trying to put out the structure fires and dealing with the vegetation fire in forestville 12 miles northwest of santa rosa along the russian river area and a follow with the fire district said there were some injuries. the fire crews are responding and we will keep you posted. police in pittsburgh have identified a woman killed in a hit and run on sunday night and

now they are trying to identify the driver responsible. kron4 will has more on the investigation and the family the victim leaves behind. >> the 50-year-old woman was pushing her shopping cart in this direction here on the sidewalk on billow pass road in mountain view right off of highway 4. this is where she was ultimately hit. the driver of the chevy silver pick up truck before hitting her hits a pole losing control of his vehicle tries to crockett it and slams into her. you can see a road side memorial already at the scene. earlier today her husband and mother tears in her eyes showed up to the scene asking this question. who would leave the scene and leave a woman fighting for her life. >> if i were to do harm to somebody i'd stick around and at least apologize. it was an accident. something went wrong they went into the sidewalk and hit her.

why run? that's not right. it's not right at all especially somebody as beautiful as she. she wouldn't even hurt a fly. >> what would you like to say to the hit and run driver? >> she was a wonderful person. she never did harm to anything. this is going to be a real loss for a long time. >> i called her on my break and she wouldn't answer and she told me the dog was there with the leash on and no one was around. a police officer answered the phone and i found out what was going on. the police picked me up at work and brought me over to the station. >> the pick up truck should have considerably front end damage after hitting the pole and shopping cart. the woman picked of cans for money as well as to make sure the neighborhood is clean. we don't have a sketch of the

driver but we do know the pick up truck has side steps. >> work crews are still on the stretch of interstate 280 shut down late last week for upgrades and repairs. it's scheduled to open tomorrow morning. charles clifford is live tonight at the scene to tell us if the work is on schedule and what commuters need to know. charles? >> i'm sitting on the northbound lane of 280. it is still closed no traffic right now. they closed this roadway down last thursday and are continuing to work here. they are getting close to wrapping it up. what they are doing is replacing some seismic jointst between two sections of roadway. put in a new joint and rebuild it. it's taking time but i spoke to a spokesperson a short time ago and he says their contractor on this project is on time and scheduled to finish by 5:00 a.m. >> we basically did twice as

much work as we normally did and left ourself a window and gave the contractor an extra seven hours to do twice as much work and it appears as if that's going to happen in less than the amount of time that was allocated so we are very happy about that. >> all right. one other thing they have to do is when they are replacing the giants they had to tear out a barrier on the edge of the roadway and repour that concrete. that takes some time but they believe that northbound 280 into san francisco will be reopened by 5:00 a.m. just in time for the commute. in san francisco charles clifford kron4 news. >> despite the 280 closure we still had too many people on the roadway. very little cloud cover. that's going to start to change. we do have some fog rolling in. temperatures by ocean beach still in the 70s.

take a look at this. a lot of us know drone video is the new thing and we are likely to see more images of what could be sharks. take a closer look off the florida coast. keep your eye in the middle of the screen. right about there, see that dark shadow. a lot of surfers out there too. this drone captured what appeared to be shadows right near all the surfers. it's not clear what it is but several times it captures dark shadows, maybe a shark. the teen who was bit by the shark was body in waste deep water. she was taken to the hospital in a private speak expected to be okay but some disconcerting
