now morning fog, back in the forecast as we head into early next week and with that said we are going to cool things down. so more details on that coming up in a moment. quickly looking at the bridges around the bay area, we are not looking at any hot spots. let's start off with a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza, the westbound trip looking good, the meter lights are off. san mateo bridge, drive times 12 to 15 minutes. golden gate bridge looking good despite fog. pockets of fog for trips into san francisco. but if you're headed to the richland bridge, things are clear, especially on the east side. 4:04, the latest happening right now, we are expected to get the verdict in the murder trial of oscar pistoruius. he is accused of killing his girlfriend last year. he could

be sentenced to life in prison. if he is not guilty, he could face a lesser charge. there is a murder out of south africa the judge may be leading toward thinking premeditated murder has not been proven. a vicious fight caught on camera at an antioch middle school. a mother is demanding answers and charges. the video was posted on social immediate y it's a story you will only though on kron4. >> reporter: this antioch mere, it's a video that's hard to stomach. >> it hurts just to see all the girls, and the one that's wearing the red shoes, something in her face. i cannot imagine the pain and the scars that this girl is going to have in her life. this is brutal. and something has to be done. >> carmen first called us about the fight video that was posted

by a student on instagram. >> it's a concern because kids they need to be safe. >> so we followed up and met with the principal of the dallas ranch middle school and said the fighters have been disciplined. >> we have kids that made some poor decisions. we did respond to the altercation between the students. we followed district policy and education code in assigning the appropriate discipline to them. and then we also due to the trouble, we contacted antioch police department for assistance from them. >> reporter: according to the school principal there have been six fights on campus since the start of the school year, nothing rising to the level of the one that showed up on the internet. >> when there's altercations like this, everyone whips their cell phones out, we grabbed the cell phones in trying to prevent this type of video getting out because it does lead to cyber bullying. >> cyber bullying had that is

carmen's daughter on edge. >> she is scared, nervous, she wants to be in a different school. >> reporter: in antioch, kron4 news. in the ray rice scandal new developments, the nfl is looking into a report from the associated press about a law enforcement official who says he sent the complete video of ray rice punching his then fiancee to the lead five months ago. the nfl says it didn't seat video until monday when rice was suspended indefinitely. league officials say they have no knowledge of anyone receiving a copy of that infamous tape. in a memo the commissioner maintained he asked for that tape multiple times during the investigation and here's what he had to say to reporters. >> we're trying to do the right thing at all times. when we make a mistake, we're honest about it and we're open about it and say we're going to work to do better. we worked two weeks ago, we improved our policies in this area and we have more work to do.

authorities have confirmed a death in the napa quake. laurie ann thompson was struck in the head by a falling tv. she didn't go to the hospital until she felt dizzy the next day and her condition got worse. she died on friday. the napa earthquake injured other people, a 13-year-old boy broke his pelvis when a chimney fell on him. nicholas dylan is recovering at home. he said on a morning of the quake he fell fell asleep on a mattress near the chimney. >> everything started shaking really fast. it felt like an eternity for me. it opens up your eyes. you could die. and knowing i had all these opportunities. i feel really bad. while recovery will be a slow one. nick is a associating player and determined to get

it is 4:14. let's head over to the weather center where erica is keeping an eye on the holt forecast today. >> that's right. it will continue to heat up today. today will be a touch warmer than yesterday. lots of sunshine, but boy, in the east bay and south bay, it was hot. we are starting things off warmer than 24 hours ago. oakland currently 61 degrees, 63 in livermore. we do have minimal fog. the fog we see however is a little thicker this morning and drizzle in san francisco. all of this will quickly burn off. we have a strong ridge of high pressure over the region and that will allow for temperatures to warm to above where we should be for this time of year. focusing on the south bay, a lot of 80s and 90s out there. san jose 91, and plenty of 90ess in the

east bay, temperatures will be in the 80s very toasty along the east bay shoreline. very little evidence of a sea breeze today. we will climb to 70 for ocean beach. it may be the day to get outside if you can. low 80s in downtown san francisco. napa 92 degrees. we will continue with the heat wave as we head into tomorrow. tomorrow will be the hottest day of the next seven. temperatures will back off as we head into the weekend but temperatures below average as we fall through fog on monday. temperatures will cool down, enjoyable conditions for everyone upper 80s in land and mid-70s bay side and upper 60s for the coast. more details on the evolving roller coaster forecast in ten minutes. right now let's check the roads on the bay area, a fatal accident at southbound 280 at page mill road. all lanes are open now. the bay bridge toll plaza, a handful of cars making

slaughtering men, women and children and two u.s. journalists. the president is ready to take the fight to them. >> congressional republicans and democrats reacted to the president's speech last night we heard from house speaker john boehner. he said the speech is not the main thing of the strategy. he added the president present add compelling says but he says questions remain on how the president intends to act. >> nancy pelosi mirrored what president obama talked about saying the u.s. will lead a comprehensive counter terrorist strategy to dismantle the isis threat. a driver hitting a group of special needs students in san mateo. five people are recovering from that crash around 10:30 yesterday morning. a black acura on westbound hillside avenue jumped the sidewalk hitting a student teacher and three special needs students from hillsdale high school. a witness describes what happens. >> the car jumped the sidewalk,

4:23 is the time. a big deal for california workers. the governor signing a bill

providing millions of employees up to three mandatory paid sick days each year. supporters say as many as six and a half million workers including temporary and part-time employees will benefit from the law which is effective next july. the governor says the law is the least we can do with growing income gap dividing america. critics say the law could drive jobs out of california, the legislation makes california the second state in the nation to require paid sick leave. connecticut was the first. one of the world's wealthiest couples is pledging $50 million to fight the ebola outbreak in west africa. the bill and melinda gates foundation made the announcement yesterday. the couple has donated much of their fortune particularly in poor countries. the u.s. announced it is sending an additional $10 million to fight ebola on top of the $100 million it's already sent. there are conflicting reports this morning into the

procedure that led to joan rivers death. the new york daily news reporting the clinic where rivers suffered cardiac arrest made an unplanned decision to perform a vocal cord biopsy. the report says this caused the comedian to stop breathing. that manhattan clinic is disputing the report. joan rivers died last thursday at the age of 81. federal laws limit what providers can make public about their patients. toronto mayor rod ford is suffering from a tumor and is in the hospital. doctors don't know yet if the tumor is malignant. health officials say ford has been suffering from stomach pains for several months and have gotten worse. the mayor acknowledged last year using crack cocaine in a drunken stupor. he finished rehab in june and had returned to work. an entertainment news, britney spears might pop up on a dating site. shia shows up in court and chris pratt makes waves.

coming up on 4:30, here are some of the big stories we're working on. today is the 13th -- today marks the 13th year since the september 11th terror attacks in new york. the names of those killed will be read. in pennsylvania a congressional gold medal will be awarded to those passengers on united flight 93. and the passengers fought the terrorists before the plane crashed. there is an observance ceremony at the pentagon. a judge is expected to read her verdict in oscar pistorius's trial. he has been on trial for the murder of his girlfriend. we're told the verdict could take hours, possibly even all day as the judge reviews testimony and legal arguments. president obama meanwhile says the u.s. will expand it's

offensive against islamic state militants. the president authorized military air strikes in syria, the president vowing to degrade and ultimately destroy the terror group isis. he announced he will send 475 additional service members to help train iraqi security forces and provide intelligence, but he insists they will not be on a combat mission. back here in the bay area we are following our weather and we have more hot temperatures in store this afternoon. in fact hotter than yesterday. good morning erica. >> it's the start of this heat wave, james. we're talking about toasty conditions. if you liked yesterday, you will certainly like today. in fact i think we will be a few degrees warmer. we are starting off with minimal fog out there. temperatures have dropped back down into the upper 50s, low 60s. approaching lunchtime, quick warming, lots of sunshine around the bay area. by 3:00 we'll have warm conditions. very light winds out there, very dry conditions, temperatures range from the mid-70s coast side to the upper 90s inland.

into tomorrow i think we definitely approach the possibility to hit triple digits but for today warm in spots, staying in the upper 90s. we are dealing with a compressed high pressure system, the fog doesn't extend further than san francisco, we are talking about thick fog along the coastline, so definitely keep that in mind with any fog we do see will be quick to burn off. futurecast approaching lunchtime, 12:00, the entire bay area in the 70s and 80s. it's up from there. at 3:00, we will introduce 90s into the forecast. and the delta, the valley, napa and even a lot of locations in the south bay will be approaching mid to upper 90s. a closer look at the numbers, napa 92, fairfield 97. temperatures in the mid 80s alodge the eastern shoreline. downtown san francisco 82 degrees, and upper 08s for red wood city. tomorrow is the hottest day of the next seven.

be held an the names read aloud of the victims of the attacks in new york, washington, d.c., and pennsylvania. and people across the bay area will be holding 9/11 memorials and commemorations to honor the anniversary. kron4's mike pelton joins us live. >> reporter: i'm here at fire station seven in san francisco's mission district where a remembrance ceremony will take place a little more than two hours from now. it will involve many of the officials from the san francisco fire department and this ceremony has become an annual event. we want to show you the video from the ceremony in year's last. the fire chief and the mayor usually take part. they are expected here today. this is in memory of those who lost their lives on september 11th, 2001, that terror attack began at 5:46 in the morning our type when hijackers crashed american airlines flight into the north tower of the world trade center. when the attack was over 2977

people died, many of those were first responders who died trying to save the lives of others. among the dead of 343 new york city firefighters, 23 new york city police officers and 37 officers from the port authority. firefighters here at station seven in san francisco will remember their lives and all of the first responders who died 13 years ago today. they will read many of their names allowed. here at station seven this is just one of many ceremonies held across the bay area. we put a complete list on kron4.com, that ceremony begins at 6:45 this morning. we'll bring part of that ceremony live later in the newscast. back to you. thank you. also following another big story out east bay where san ramon police have arrested a high school wrestling coach for an inappropriate relationship with a minor. jeff bush explains. >> reporter: san ramon police were tipped off about the relationship and arrested

27-year-old kevin lopez of san ramon at his home on tuesday night. lopez was the wrestling coast at california high school from 2005 until the time of his arrest. he was fired as soon as the district found out about the relationship. >> well, we're obviously really disappointed in the allegations. we expect our employees professionally and personally to act in a way that is responsible and ethical and so this is very disappointing. we're working with the police department and cooperate fully in the investigation. >> was this relationship with a student? >> i can't comment on that. >> what happens next with your wrestling coach? >> actually, he is dismissed of his duties. >> the school district says lopez was the assistant wrestling coach until 2012, that's when he was promoted to head coach. the district says they never saw anything to indicate inappropriate behavior. >> went through all of the process the and procedures of

hiring including full fingerprinting and background checks. >> reporter: lopez is also a youth minister at a local church. he is being held in the county jail on $750,000 bail. i'm jeff bush, in san ramon kron4 news. as we first reported on kron4 wildlife experts shot and killed that mountain lion that was thought to be responsible for attacking a six-year-old boy. tracking dogs an wild live experts picked up the scent near the scene of the attack. that cat was located after a four day search and they found it just 130 yards from the attack site. official says that mountain lion displayed aggressive behavior. >> this particular cat crushed down was aggressive and territorial and appeared to be thinking about jumping on the warden which was very surprising, very unusual. tranquilizer him was not possible, he was 65 feet up, the shot would have killed him, it

was the humane way to put him down. >> the department of fish and wildlife will conduct dna tests to make sure the mountain lion is the one that attacked the boy and they will perform rabies tests. after months from arab american antidiscrimination groups a southern california high school has changed his nickname and logo. they are the my mighty, it has a stoic face, getting rid of the scowling look of the old image. the school abandoned the costume and belly dancing genie that appeared at halftime shows. trapped in the streets, how several drivers in indiana could not get out of their cars overnight. we'll have more on that story. >> a man known for his killer steel teeth, we will have more on the life of richard keel

t-mobile is changing how customers can use their phones. it could save you a lot of money, improve your signal quality and pressure other carriers to do the same. gabe slate explains the wi-fi calling and texting plan. >> reporter: good morning, t-mobile is rolling out what they call wi-fi unleashed. they are turning all the wi-fi hot spots in the world to extensions of their mobile network. any time someone is in a wi-fi hot spot with a wi-fi enabled t-mobile smart phone they will automatically pick up that wi- fi and use it for free unlimited phone calls and text messages. here is what is good about

this: using wi-fi with the phone can save a lot of money on data plans because when using wi-fi everything is free. this essentially turns any wi-fi hot spot into an extension of the t-mobile cell phone network. this means overall better signal strength. this can pay off big time if there is one place in your life where coverage drops out your basement, office, a friend's house. as long as there is wi-fi presence in that area your phone will get a good signal for calls and text messages. this means free calls and text messages from other countries back to the united states are free as long as you're in a wi-fi hot spot. that's great when traveling abroad. on a grander scale i think this is huge news because it will push other carriers to do the same. the blending of wi-fi with traditional cell phone signals is what we need for the future. it will lower our phone bills and overall give us better signal strength. for

4:44 is the time. happening today, he was just 14 years old, today family and friends of rashon williams will remember the teen who was killed in a stabbing at the hands of allegedly another 14-year-old boy. a funeral mass is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. at saint mary's cathedral in san francisco. williams who was a sacred heart prep freshman was killed last week interrogatory

mission district. police have the suspect in custody. while you were sleeping drivers in indiana had a tough time getting around last night. take a look at this. this video showing the streets and what they looked like after heavy rain fell in the indianapolis area. several drivers in fact got stuck in flooded streets. firefighters had to respond to at least seven water rescues overnight. back here in the bay area it's not the rain, it is the heat that we'll be dealing with. good morning erica. >> yeah a little heat wave around here james. we're dealing with mostly clear conditions. we have minimal fog along the coastline. you can see all the twinkling lights as we look from our camera. today is a spare the air day, we will see lots of sunshine, still air, calm conditions, but the heat is up like yesterday. we are talking about similar conditions if not a few degrees warmer. the heat will continue on into tomorrow. i actually think friday will be the hottest day of the week before temperatures back off into the weekend.

temperatures are much warmer than where they should be for this time of year. the satellite and radar few, dry conditions, compressed air, where we are dealing with fog it is thicker this morning. heavy fog in pacifick and half moon bay. any fog will be quick to burn off. no 60s throughout the area, all locations in the 70s if not the 80s. as we fast forward the clock by 3:00 p.m. all the 90s make an appearance. very toasty conditions, mid to upper 90s for the delta, the livermore valley, a few locations in the south bay area 93 degrees, and also in napa valley. the highs expected in your area, 84 in mountainview, santa clara 93. and we'll see warmer weather in the east bay, lots of sunshine, upper 90s in fairfield. 94 in concord, vallejo 88 and 89 in walnut creek. 80s on the east

bay shoreline. a minimal sea breeze, almost nonexistent, low 70s close to the beaches, and low 90s in napa. tomorrow is the hottest day of the week, 90s as we head into the weekend. fog returns to the forecast as we head into early next week and with that said temperatures will cool off. so we'll back things off a bit and more enjoyable and comfortable conditions for just about everyone. upper 80s inland, mid-70s bay side and upper 60s for the coast. following traffic around the bay area, we're not looking at hot spots. a great time to leave your house if you're headed to the bay bridge toll plaza. a small wait in the cash lanes. i checked we don't have any incidents to report. drive time 12 to 13 minutes. so no time whatsoever as you cross the san mateo bridge and headed to the golden gate bridge a lot of space between cars we have fog working your way out of marin.

richmond san rafael bridge, no problems. and along the traffic maps green on the roadway sensors as you drive south bay. james? thank you much. now to a live report from kron4's jackie standing by in richmond where police are investigating a stabbing this morning. jackie bring us up to speed. what happened? >> reporter: actually, james it's a shooting and stabbing. i am here at the richmond police department. it was a strange case last night overnight in richmond. around 8:15 last night the richmond police department received a call at fourth and mcdonald of a stabbing string. when they got there they found a vick it will laying in the street. while doing the investigation, they had to air lift that victim out of the scene, officers heard shots on fifth street just a block away, multiple gunshots. when they got over to the scene a block away from the stabbing, that's when they found a 68-year-old male victim laying in the street with multiple

gunshot wounds. and what they're saying now is that victim 68-year-old anthony biggs was pronounced dead at the scene. so just a block away from each other. initially reports are that these two cases are not related to each other. at this point, obviously very brazen for the people to go and obviously shoot the victim just a block away from where multiple police officers are. we're waiting to hear from the richmond police department on any suspect information out there on either one of these cases. i can tell you this stabbing victim was air lifted and he had serious wounds. unfortunately, as i said the shooting victim died at the scene. james. >> thank you very much jackie for the update. live from richmond this morning. we want to follow up with a story a my kron4 story we brought you last month involving an intersection in santa clara residents say has been dangerous for years. here's more on the

changes the city is talking about to make that area safer. >> we are at davis and regina and this is our follow up to our kron4 story. the best solution is to create -- >> reporter: on wednesday afternoon the ditman's met with the city engineer and director of public works for the city of santa clara. he said in order to make this intersection safer the city would have to add additional left turn lanes and signals on monroe and benson streets. >> you could add those if we take out the street parking, which impacts residents and other businesses. that is not advisable at this time. >> currently what we're trying to do is trim those trees down in that corner and that allows a good site distance for vehicles westbound on benson and previously the trees were over grown, the shrubs were over

grown, we've trimmed those down. those the first thing could do. it doesn't solve the problem of left turn movement. given the volume just that people have to drive carefully and safely. the left turn generally are made at yellow lights and so that gives a very small time for vehicles to turn left. what we are looking into also is increasing the gap between yellow and red so that people can safely make the turn during yellow so that the opposing traffic doesn't start moving until the cars have cleared the intersection a. >> i was recently happy i'm glad something is being done, but i don't think it's enough, but time will tell as we measure the accident that is are coming. >> i am very happy that the city is doing something looking at the situation and i appreciate that your media station has taken the initiative to do
