pressure. the one that brought us rain during the work week. it is stagnant over the nevada area. it hasn't moved by much and it could bring showers to parts of santa clara area. and we have 50s and 60s. more sunshine in the afternoon. they are trending we low average. it is mid-70s and upper 70s. for the warmest inland spots. it shows the high clouds moving into the bay area. and some moisture to the east. it will build in as we head into the first day of october. we are looking at gradually warmer weather and even perhaps increased concern for fire danger with the shift to the offshore winds. that is something we will be monitoring and we will have 90s back in the forecast. that is coming up in 15 minutes. marty. >> thank you, erica. a suspect is in custody for

setting four separate fires in alameda. it was reported at 1:00. two of the fires burned two homes blocks away from each other. the other two fires are considered minor. >> the red cross working this morning with the residents who were displaced. one woman describes the chaos in her neighborhood. >> someone is out there. >> i looked out the window. it is just fire, flames all the way to the sky. people were pounding on the tore and they said it is gas. it is going to blow. >> no one was hurt in the fires. crews remain on the scene this morning gathering evidence. a developing story this morning. police still looking for the suspects who shot ferguson, missouri police officer last night. it happened during a foot chase between the officer and two burglary suspects. the officer was wounded in the

arm and police say that he is expected to survive. ferguson is the site of protests after an unarmed black teenager by the name of michael brown was shot to death by a white officer. >> this particular incident appears unrelated. >> this is an area that is fairly secluded and i have no reason to believe it is linked in any way, shape manner or form and it doesn't appear that way. >> the officer has not yet been identified and he fired shots in return and no indication that either suspect was hit. >> president obama speaking last night on the shooting death of michael brown. he said there is a mistrust between residents and law enforcement in may be communities. >> this a wakened our nation once again to the reality that people in the room have long understood which is in too many communities around the country,

a gulf of mistrust exists between law enforcement and the community. >> he said the mistrust has a corrosive affect on all of america not just black communities. >> san jose police investigating a fatal shooting. a man was killed in south san jose last night. there were 44 homicides in san jose just last year. no word yet on the motive and circumstances surrounding last night's death. no arrests have been made and the suspect or suspects remain at large this morning. we are learning more about the victims of a deadly crash in san mateo. two people were killed. and five others injured in a head on collision between a van and bus. look at video from the helicopter partnership. kron 4 spoke with the elderly couple. and this is only on kron 4.

kron. the highway remains closed this weekend. second weekend in a row it is closed. they may have to close it, however, five more nights this coming week. drivers should be expecting delays. >> they will be aware to allow extra time and if you are traveling up here. >> we have tried to make changes and they are still. there is still highway delay. >> pretty significant delays last weekend. we tried to make adjustments too, to make it less. >> the highway is expected to reopen. caltrans doesn't know it needs

. we are back with a dramatic video of a col vein no erupting in japan. authorities say there were 250 hikers in the area when the volcano erupted. they were helping them out and they found rescuers found more unconscious bodies and people are living near the mountain. they decided to stay in their homes. the last eruption was back in

2007. bring it back home to the bay area. we are expecting another lovely day. here is erica kato, they have backed off of it and we will warm things back up as we head to the middle of this coming week. here is a look at current conditions outside right now. san jose, and 56 in livermore. higher clouds compared to yesterday. it is not as clear as you head out on this sunday morning. we have moisture well to the east bringing this to the sierra, nevada and we did see additional 2 inches of rain with the higher elevations of rain. this is pretty stagnant. it is a slow mover and thanks to the circulation. we could see wrap around showers as we head around later this afternoon. doesn't look too likely and it is calling for a slim chance.

it is an isis compound. two armed vehicles at the border with turkey. there are attacks near the border with turkey. turkey is not participating in the airstrikes. it has called for an international buffer zone that would separate the country from the combat zone. we are about to take an inside look, inside syria which is rarely seen. jim clancy reports one woman went undercover to show what the town looks like understand the control of isis. >> reporter: with a hidden camera, a syrian woman risked arrest or worse, to look inside the capital of the calaphate. walking through the heart of the city. completely under the control of isis.

. time to check the weather. >> hi, marty. look at the golden gate. you will bridge. and -- bridge. and it is helping temperatures out a bit. vallejo right now at 60 degrees. we started in the low 50s. and 62 in the house in oakland. this is the cooler side of normal yet again. very few 80s and most inland areas. upper 60s. gradual warm up is expected as we head into early next week and for the pressure of the first week of october. that will bump up the temperatures. mid-90s back in the forecast. i will show you when and where back in the next 15 minutes. cancellations and delays continue at ohare and midway

airports. it was because of a fire in aurora. >> passengers at the airports are frustrated at the sudden cancellations. >> i left alaska two nights ago at 10:30. arrived in phoenix yesterday to find out the last two legs of my journey were canceled. i arrived here and there is nothing. no alternative way to get there. >> charges are against brian howard for destruction of aircraft or aircraft facilities. howard remains hospitalized. he tried to commit suicide at the control center. officials at sfo say flights should be getting back to normal this morning. all departures were on time and few arriving flights were delayed. airport officials will do what they can to make sure it runs

smoothly this morning. this is the four chicago bound flights canceled. and they were delayed. at oakland international. six flights were delayed by 45 minutes. and one flight was canceled. it is nearly two months since the napa earthquake and the largest to hit the bay area in some 25 years. nearly 2500 people were injured. more than 2,000 homes and buildings were damaged or destroyed. and many are in need of repairs. >> they report that elected officials are helping rest dents rebuild their homes. >> this letter to the white house is making a case that the damage done in napa not only qualifies the city, but also individuals for assistance from the government. richard dogron's home buckled. now, he sleeps in a tent in his yard. in the meantime, a shed is being built in the backyard. richard is one of the

they say it washed ashore before 10 ing. she was from american canyon and police have not yet released her identity. nfl commissioner roger goodell visited the texas headquarters of the domestic violence hotline. they were visiting for a private two hour meeting. the commissioner has been criticized for his handling of the recent suspension of ray rice and many critics are calling for goodell to resign. they say he hasn't responded appropriately to domestic violence issues. ray mcdonald is expected to play against the philadelphia eagles. his abuse case was postponed again. his victim, his fiance had injuries. there is a delay in the case as the investigation into the incident tips. several prominent politicians are calling on the team to beverage mcdonald because of the allegations.

the economic collapse of 2008. but at the same time, he's someone who has actually brought real vig or to the civil rights. i think his actions going to ferguson have helped calm down that community and he's made a promise to ferguson that he will finish that before he leaves office which means there will be a big department of justice going on for all of st. louis county very soon. it's someone -- he's the first african-american attorney general. and i think he's done a very good job. a lot of people don't like him. a lot of people do like him. >> he definitely was a lightning road-- rod. who do you see on the short list to replace him? >> there's a long list. everyone throwing their names in, wanting their names in. i mean, there's, for example, the special prosecutor for the 7th district of new york.

there's tom perez, former assistant secretary for civil rights and d.o.j., very popular i think in terms of trying to view with the latino community, and there's women. there's former white house council. there's kamala harris, the california attorney general, people who say oh, no, she wouldn't want to do it because she's running for office. >> she's running for governor. >> she wants a senate seat. understand two, four years is a long time, you can be an attorney general -- the president only has two years left in his term. that's a lot of opportunity for someone like her to make a name for herself and still come back to california and run very well. >> a stronger candidate eventually. >> she's well-liked by the administration. she has a lot of charisma. >> that could build a strong foundation for her in a couple

it's been two months since the napa eark. nearly -- the napa earthquake. nearly 300 people were injured. among the buildings and businesses destroyed, many are still in repair. elected officials are pleading with the white house to help residents rebuild homes. >> reporter: this letter to the white house is making a case that the damage done in napa not only qualifies the city but also individuals for assistance from the government. this individual's home buckled during the recent earthquake. now red tagged, he sleeps in a tent in his yard. in the meantime, a shed is being built in the backyard. richard is one of the homeowners in napa that needs help from the government. >> a bunch of stuff under the basement. most all of it has to be moved.

we're back on kron4 news weekend with this dramatic video of a volcano erupting in japan sending smoke and ash in the sky. authorities say there were about 250 hikers in the area when the mountain erupted. police and firefighters were deployed to try to help them. as of this morning, japanese police say rescuers have found more than 300 un-- or rather 30 unconscious bodies. nearly 250 people living near thement have opted to stay in their homes. that volcano last erupted in

we're recapping our big stories -- police have two men in custody suspected of setting eight fires overnight in alameda. police say that one of the suspects is a 22-year-old transient. the other a 27-year-old alameda resident. all of the fires were reported just minutes apart and within a seven-block area of each other.

firefighters say the last fire involved multiple businesses and vehicles. fortunately, no one was hurt. crews remain on the scene this morning gathering evidence. firefighters seem to finally have the upper hand on that blaze burning in el dorado county, the king fire. containment now is at 87%. the recent wet weather and cooler temperatures helping firefighters make real progress. but more than 97,000 acres have burned. no reports of injuries. but 80 structures have been destroyed, including a dozen homes. that fire has cost more than $53 million to fight. police are still looking for the suspect who shot a ferguson, missouri police officer. it happened last night. the officer was shot in the arm and the wound is not considered life-threatening. police say that the shooting is unrelated to the fatal shooting of teenager michael brown by officers last month in ferguson. and turning to sports this morning, the giants getting it done at home beating the padres. 3-1 at at&t park saturday. it was brandon craw the two-
