>>james fletcher san francisco authorities have shut down part of harrison street at 5th street last night - after a stolen car chase. a c-h-p officer spotted the car traveling down 3rd street towards folsom street in the afternoon. when the officer tried to pull the car over. the driver ran a red light. and proceeded down harrison street. the driver then hit another car and tried to get away - but was eventually arrested. no injuries were reported. police in the south bay are warning the public about a string of strong arm robberies that are targeting people wearing jewelry kron 4's charles clifford has the details. >> charles clifford according to the santa clara police deparment.... there have been 45 strong armed robberies. 13 in santa clara of loan. 13--the majority have been in this area with most of the victims being an asian or indian descent. >>they will grab whatever jury

>>james fletcher young people convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious victim. will now face mandatory sexual offender treatment in california. governor brown signed the bill known as "audrie's law". the legislation was first introduced after 15-year-old audrie pott committed suicide after a photo of her assault spread online. the new law closes a loophole. allowing lesser penalties for juveniles if a victim is unconscious or developmentally disabled. the governor also signed a bill requiring limousines which seat up to 10 passengers to be equipped with two fire extinguishers. they also have to be inspected by the c-h-p every 13 months. this is video from out helicopter partnership with abc7. the bill is in response to the limousine fire that killed a new bride and four of her friends on the san mateo bridge last year. investigators say the fire was caused by a failure of the limo's rear suspension system.

bryan stow sues dodgers again- ots vo bryan stow. the gravely injured giants fan who was beaten by two dodgers fans. is suing the dodgers again. he previously won a multi- million dollar lawsuit against the team. but he claims the dodgers are trying to get back 3-point-4 million dollars in insurance payments from him for his medical care. stow's attorney says the dodgers and its insurer want the money returned from the 18- million dollars awarded to stow this summer. stow suffered traumatic brain injury after being beaten three years ago. murder charges in a 25-year-old dismissed. that's after the d-a's office prosecutor was having an affair with a key witness. this is video of 69-year-old robert zimmer in court yesterday -- as he learned he'll soon be set free. so will his 66-year-old brother david. they were arrested in connection with the 1989 murder of david's wife, cathy zimmer. cathy zimmer's body was found under a quilt in her car at the san jose airport. outside court, david zimmer's attorney praised the d.a.'s decision to drop the case.

>>jeff bush if you have ever been in san francisco and had to cut your trip short to catch the train back to the east bay you know that anxiety of possibly being stuck in the citycoming soon, there will probably be an alternative way home. bart and a/c transit will team up to provide service from the 24th and mission bart station in san francisco and separate bus lines will go as far north as pittsburg and as far south as fremont. the idea is to give service industry employees some breathing room and an alternative way to the east bay. it's an idea that has been kicking around for a while. bart says they have secured an $800,000 grant for a pilot program that would take passengers from the city to several bart stations in the east bay. the program is designed to help those on a lower income. alicia trost>> it will be a year long and we are going to see how do these buses fill up. if they are not filling up we are going to do some more marketing and make sure we are reaching out to the right group that are working in the middle of the night and we

a new era for the raider nation as the oakland raiders introduced their new coach the team officially named tony sparano as interim head coach. the raiders fired head coach dennis allen after going oh and 4 so far this season. allen's last game was this past week in london. raiders owner -- mark davis says it was a difficult trip.to see all the raiders fans and all the support they got in europe.then to play as bad as they did against the dolphins was tough. general manager reggie mckenzie has been the subject of conversations as well.

released a statement last night - saying no arrests will be made at this time in the death of bell gardens mayor daniel crespo. the investigation will be turned over to prosecutors, who will determine whether to file charges. police say that mayor crespo got into an argument with his wife. and their 19-year-old son tried to intervene. that's when crespo and his son started fighting. and crespo's wife, levette shot her husband several times. mayor crespo later died at the hospital. a multi-million dollar settlement has been issued to the family of a woman run over and killed in san francisco's holly park last year. a settlement of 15 million dollars has been given to christine svanemyr's husband and child. the woman had been lying on the grass with her daughter and family dog last year. when she was run over by a parks department truck. the driver -- thomas burnoski - has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and hit - and - run. he no longer works for the parks department. a new problem for the new eastern span of the bay bridge. engineers recently found that about three dozen of the 424

the thief is still on the loose. university of california president -- janet napolitano says she is looking into whether the u-c system has been admitting too many out-of-state and international students. the number of out-of-state and international freshmen accepted to u-c schools jumped from 12- this fall. napolitano -- a former homeland security expert says that a review will happen. she will work with the u-c regents to develop a budget for the next academic year that may include the system's first tuition hikes in four years. homicide is the leading cause of death between sam francisco used between 15 and 24, almost double the rate statewide.

as of right now no one has been hurt. but at least one family of six has been left without a home. as the search continues for a missing university of virginia student, another college in virginia hosted a candlelight vigil for her. last night's vigil at randolph- macon college was aimed at honoring hannah graham, supporting her family, and raising awareness for women's safety. hundred gathered to sing, remember graham and pray for her safe return. graham was last seen september 13th in an area of charlottesville known as the downtown mall. the 18 year old was a second- year student at the university of virginia. the intruder who climbed over the fence of the white house is scheduled to appear in federal court today in washington. former u-s solider omar gonzalez was indicted tuesday on federal and local charges. white house officials say he was armed with a knife when he entered the unlocked white house front door. authorities say they searched gonzalez' car and found hundreds of rounds of ammunition, two hatchets and a machete.
