a live look showing a gorgeous start. satellite and radar shows dry conditions. however, tracking system that's going to bring some rain. a tenth of an inch and a quarter of an inch with heavy values north of the golden gate bridge. we take a look at your headlines. light rain predominantly in the afternoon and early evening for much of the bay area. we are not going to see rain for the sierra nevada, but next week looking at high-pressure making a return. with that said, mainly sunny skies and warming trend. again, i'll be talking about the storm headed our way in my next report. >> thank you so much. happening now, the 11th annual nike women's half marathon just ticked off in san francisco. mike is among the big crowd there. good morning, mike. >> reporter: good morning. these runners left union square at 6:30.

just leaving this morning as we take a live look. the nike women's half marathon features about 25,000 runners today, all here in san francisco. the run today is tourism awareness for leukemia. that's why many of these runners are all dressed in purple. one woman won her battle with cancer nine years ago and this morning is running her first marathon. >> this is kind of my way up being like, i'm a survivor, i had cancer but i can make something so positive of it and be helpful to other people. i have to do this. i have to inform people what it's like to be a survivor. >> and these women are running from union square west through golden gate park. you'll find various street closures this morning but it's all for a good cause. you can see many of them

comparison. >> a sales associate at the giants dugout stores says they've been very busy and they're staying open for extra long hours to accommodate the extra traffic. dan rubin, back to you. >> the giants on the field for the first time since winning thursday. this was the first time back together as a teams and dramatic walkoff national league victory on thursday. after the workout, the giants reflected for a moment. the world series is bringing together two wild-card teams. >> we played close to 200 games. just a kind of let it go and realize that they're still a job to do. >> two teams that have gone through a lot to get here. the wild-card brothers, it's pretty special. >> the manager says those are games one and two.

the giants leave for kansas city later today. also happening today, the final day of the 44th annual pumpkin festival today. on the schedule are the pumpkin pancake breakfast, the pumpkin run or walk. that starts in about an hour at 8:00 a.m. pumpkin carving and a pie eating contest taking place this afternoon. festival starts at 9:00, runs until 5:00 and admission is free. as thousands of people in their cars had south on highway one for the festival, traffic in pacifica was backed up for blocks. it was especially congested this year because of construction on the highway at the south end of town. engineers are monitoring the traffic also adjusting spotlights to minimize the backup as best they could. if you're headed that way, give yourself enough time to plan ahead for the pumpkin festival. coming up, the long search for missing university of virginia

>> where back. law-enforcement in virginia expanding their search for a coed who disappeared five weeks ago. they say the missing person investigation is no death investigation. >> reporter: thousands of hours have been spent by literally hundreds of law enforcement and civilian volunteers in an effort to find hannah. we think, perhaps, today proves there with. >> authorities searching for missing university of virginia student hannah graham made a

startling discovery saturday. human remains have been found on an abandoned property in albemarle county, virginia. >> these are human remains. tests need to be conducted to determine the identification of those remains. >> police have notified her parents of the discovery, though positive identification could take some time. >> today's discovery is a significant development. we have a great deal of work ahead of us. >> surveillance footage of the downtown mall shows graham leaving a bar 12:00 a.m. september 13th. the video also capture suspect jesse matthew following her. matthew was taken into custody september 24th in galveston, texas. he's the only person who's been detained in connection of her disappearance. he's currently charged with abduction with intent to defile. >> coming up this weekend, both in the ebola outbreak. we'll explain after the break. and will take this live look outside. this time around, san mateo bridge. hazy conditions there. erica has the forecast when we come

>> hurricane on his on course to us live by more than 100 miles but the storm is still generating high waves and strong winds and heavy rain. flash flood warnings are in place throughout the islands. there's also a tropical storm warning for collide. a watch is still in effect, but a tropical storm watch was lifted for several islands. let's bring it back home and talk weather here because we are expecting changes. >> we are already seeing them in the camera shot. look at the thick fog in san francisco. this is a live look. a great start, so quite a contrast compared to yesterday. yesterday clear, blue skies. this fog is going to be pretty seven. it will take quite some time to officially burn off.

as a result, it limits temperatures. still expect much of a warm-up today. here's a look at satellite and radar. we are dry around the bay area but tracking a system headed our way. it could arrive as early as later tonight up far north of us. it could affect the morning commute north of the golden gate bridge into tomorrow morning. light rain for much of the bay area for much of the afternoon. here's a look at your high for today. a lot of 70s. lots of sunshine eventually. getting to 72, 76 in fairfield, upper 70s for pleasant and livermore. now temperatures will be in the upper 60s for san francisco, berkeley, so notice cheating along the east bay shoreline. right around the waterfront is where we are seeing the thickest fog. 69 santa rosa, and as we take a look at future cast, you'll see the light rain already affecting

the week. >> thank you. big news from canada. canada will start sending the experimental ebola vaccine. 800 miles will arrive in three separate shipments beginning tomorrow. canada says the vaccine clinical trial started last month in the u.s. but results are expected in december. the current outbreak has killed more than 4000 people in west africa. a cruise ship carrying a texas lab worker who may have handled specimens from ebola patient thomas duncan is docked in galveston, texas. the health authority says the lab worker enter travel partner were allowed on the ship without any restrictions. officials say the lab worker is still asymptomatic and there's no evidence of a public health threat there. and ebola scare prompted in emergency landing oklahoma saturday as the american airlines flight was en route from connecticut to

we're back with national news this morning. new details in the ferguson missouri shooting of michael brown. according to the new york times, through police reports, detailed the officers side of what happened the day that brown was shot. officer darren wilson told police he tried to get out of his car but that brown solved him back in. he says brown pinned him inside the vehicle and struggled to gran for his gun. wilson says he feared for israel safety. forensics show the gun went off twice inside the car. one bullet hit brown's arm while the other one's missed. brown's blood was found on the gun, wilson's uniform and the

out in syria last week. officials say it's helping push isis way from a key city near the border crossing with turkey. mary maloney has the details. >> reporter: u.s. air strikes against isis rebels continued near kobani following a week of increased fighting. for the first time, the u.s. military says it is receiving intelligence from syrian kurds on the ground. >> the campaign is on the right track. we're doing the right things, and we're creating the right effects. >> reporter: between friday and saturday, the u.s. military carried out 15 total air strikes in syria. two of them hit isis positions near kobani. >> my goal is to defeat and ultimately destroy isil. if he continues to present us with major targets as he has done in the kobani area, then clearly we'll service those targets and we have done so very very effectively. >> reporter: despite these advances, u.s. central command

the forecast with erica. >> good morning, and happy sunday, marty heading out to foggy conditions. here's a live look. can't see much at the golden gate bridge right now. all in all, visibility, actually improving around the bay area. socked in in san francisco, now we're dealing with partly cloudy skies and down in the south bay, visibility down to a 1/4 mile in san jose. it looks like we have seen at least some improvement there. let's take a look at satellite and radar, although we are dry for now, we are tracking a system. this confident, arriving from the pacific is going to bring some light rain to northern california beginning tonight and then it could actually affect your morning commute as we head into tomorrow. so keep that in mind. light rain is expected but when this system is said and done, not talking about much rain, the wetter models putting a 1/4 inch for the north bay hills, a tenth, and not expecting much in the south bay. we have a dry layer of a air underneath this system, and that's going to limit rainfall for the east bay and south bay.

approaching the 205 interchange when the driver of one car pulled up alongside the other and the driver opened fire. two people suffered minor injuries. police are investigating it as a possible road rage incident and they're still looking for the suspects. a martinez man is charged in connection with a sex case involving a 14-year-old oregon girl. he appeared in federal court in oakland friday for his first hearing. and investigators say that blake robert johnston met the girl online. they say that he traveled to salem with his underage daughter to meet the 14-year- old girl. he is charged with intent to engage in illicit actual conduct. police found the girl at his home in martinez on wednesday. she has been reunited with her family in oregon. police in union city are advising residents to be on the look out for a mountain lion. it was spotted saturday afternoon. officers searching a trail without success by alameda creek behind carway after several residents reported seeing the big cat. so advising

residents in the area keep small pets inside the house, and also to call 911 if they see any mountain lions. dozens of supports met in san francisco, criticizing the chinese government for the way protesters have been treated in china. this angers many local chinese who say the chinese government has gone too far and is mistreating its citizens. >> i think a lot of mean pictures and videos and on the web already, like they are spraying tear gas or pepper spray to peaceful protesters and unarmed protesters so these are the pictures and visions that we saw online and then also we heard a lot of stories from friends over there. >> the rally in san francisco was peaceful and there were no arrests made. turning to politics this morning, the midterm election is just around the corner. president obama is shifting into campaign mode.

the president has events planned for democratic candidates in maryland and in chicago today. mr. obama attended democratic fundraisers but hasn't campaigned with candidates in public. the president's first rally was supposed to take place last wednesday in connecticut. that trip was canceled so the president could focus on the ebola crisis. surprising absolutely no one, governor jerry brown officially announcing he will run for reelection. should he win, he will serve an unprecedented four terms. he served two terms back in the 70s. with almost two decades in office, brown is california's longest serving governor. as governor, brown has steadied the state's financial situation and expanded water and transportation infrastructure. he'll be facing republican candidate neil cashcary. border guards exchanged gunfire with north korea for the second time in less than ten days. officials say north korean soldiers approached the

heark posted about 400 passwords online and claimed they were drop box passwords. claimed they had 7 million more and would post them if he got donations through the web site. >> looking for money here. okay. drop box came out publicly they were not breached and the passwords were not there. a third party service and a collection of services were breached and these passwords were posted online. they worked with drop box. >> in other words, they keep the same password. we can't keep track of all them. >> we're all guilty of this. >> of course. that's rule number one. >> don't share passworded on multiple web sites. >> and also to keep it complicated, if you can. >> 8 characters is the recommended minimum. and you should put numbers, symbols, characters that, you know, to make those passwords more complex. >> it's hard to remember, though,. >> who can remember that, exactly. i use the password utility. helps remember all of the passwords on various web site.

i don't know my passwords to multiple web sites. i use a third party app to last pass. there's several other that you use. >> you recommend people use that? >> absolutely. many people use their phone number as passwords and all you have to do is get somebody's phone number, and now you have your password to e-mail, bank, various other web sites. >> why are we seeing so much of it now? >> it's a trend. it's a dangerous trend, you're right, and it's profitable. selling these user names, passwords, bank account details, it's profitable for these criminals. >> and so we seem to hear about this more and more and more, so what is it that the hackers are ahead of the security or how is this happening? >> it's not even that. there's a lot of consumers out there that are not security experts and they may, like i said, we use passwords, they may not turn on two factor authentication. >> two factor authentication,

you require two assets to log in,ed first is the password, the second is the phone, a text message or a security question that you've probably answered when you have logged into certain web sites. drop box sports this. people have it turned off. >> oh, okay. >> so turning on two factor authentication, many banks have this in place. >> so is it safe to say that we are the weak links in this security? >> absolutely. it's a two sided relationship. on our part, we should be choosing complex passwords, not reusing them web site to web site. maybe even using different e- mail addresses. on the other hand, the service should enable two factor authentication by default, and obviously have security in place so passwords aren't breach. >> one of the tips we have is avoid bad web sites, what does that mean. >> easier said than done. don't be searching on web sites that are ominous, to say the least. use trusted web sites, look for

web of trust, for example, has a list of good web web sites. >> one of the tips as well, would be to, if you get one of these in your e-mail, what should you do? because they look official. >> don't open it. if you get an e-mail with an interesting attachment or interesting subject, just throw it away. you can always go to the person that sent it to you or call them on the phone, did you send me this e-mail. same with facebook, you know, you see a bunch of texts from your friends that say click on this link, i've got pictures for you. of course you're going to fall for that. it's simple to call and say did you send me that. >> if he could, if we could go back to the top couple tips, we want to talk about those a little more if we could get back to that. there we go. so number one, don't wait until you're a victim. >> they prey on the apathetic, right, so go today online and change your passwords immediately. we'll wait right here. >> exactly. so that's number one. that's the first line of

missing university of virginia student hannah graham. charlottesville police say a set of remains was found on an abandoned property in the area. they have notified graham's parents of the discovery. graham disappeared on september 13th. jesse matthew junior has been charged with abduction. he was the last person seen with graham. and the san francisco giants headed for kansas city today. the team was back on the field at at&t park yesterday for the first time since they won the pennant. manager bruce bochy says left hander madison bum gardener will pitch game one tuesday night in kansas city. a big turn out for the nike women's half marathon this morning. an estimated 25,000 runners were out in san francisco today. the race began at union square, ran through golden gate park and ended up at the marina green. along the course, runners were treated to live entertainment and stations where people were
