yesterday. the doctor lived in harlem and this is video of the new york's mayor and governor as they brief the public about treating him. he's been back for six days and he road the subway and he went to a bowling alley, which is now closed. two of his friends have decided to self-quarantine. and new this morning in the bay area, a fire. we're live on the scene at farm crest street. mike is there with more. >> reporter: good morning, carria. the fire department tells me unfortunately the family dog possibly a poodle died in this blaze. the fire is out this morning and investigators are here on the scene and crews remain on the scene working to check for hot spots. here's what it looked like a short time ago employ the fire sparked at 3:00 this morning. their mother and grandmother were asleep in an upstairs bedroom. the fire engulfed much of the

first floor trapping the family. all four family members climbed on to the roof. neighbors say they heard screaming early this morning. fire officials say some of the family members jumped from the roof with the help of firefighters. the rest of them climbed down a ladder a short time later crews put out the flames with the millepede us fire department. >> the next thing was to get the victims out. they're being cared for, is our primary responsibility coming out here to provide stuff and care for them. beyond that, we're securing the building to make sure the fires are out and we're start our investigation. >> and here's a look at the damage to the inside of the home. there is extensive damage to the first floor and upstairs. the fire possibly started on the 50 floor, but an investigation -- first floor but the investigator is here to determine the cause of the blaze. we're told the grand month sustained burn injuries but the

. welcome back to the kron four morning news. the metering lights are activated and the back up only reaches to the 880 over crossing. the drive time is only 13 minutes currently for the westbound bay bridge ride. if you can get out early, too. i don't think this will last much longer. >> thanks, george. kron four a san francisco's man quick thinking tells police to number the suspect in an attack on the streets. here's a look at the good samaritan. his name is patrick, and what he did was he saw a man getting mugged so he took photos of the get away car and those pictures helped police track down the suspects. >> and radioed in the license plate number to dispatch and one of the police officers told me that within between the seconds

anymore south than ukiah. it's going to stay well to the north with skies nice and clear, that'll look for conditions as we expect temperatures to warm up nicely. right now we're in the 50s for a good bit of the bay area, and concord, 49 in santa rosa. we'll see temperatures like this. upper 70s to low 80s through the south bay and mostly sunny skis. upper 70s for the east bay valley. low 70s and some upper 60s. downtown oakland 75, with 70 in san francisco, and across the north bay mid-70s through the wayne country. and clouds will really start to build later on tonight. this system, you can kind of see that cold front, slowly working its way and eventually it will bring us rain but probably won't fall until after midnight tonight. good news for game 3, but by tomorrow morning, a different story. we have 5 p.m. with a futurecast first pitch, fast-forward until

time is still very good at just 14 minutes. we're a little heavy for the westbound 4 through pittsburgh, but through the willow path, it's not bad. still have this vehicle fire tying up traffic westbound on high 24. ing this a big pickup truck with a dual axle end, hauling a force trailer, so it might be a little bit complicated to clear. i'm holding confidence it will be out of the road before this back up turns into a major hot spot for the westbound ride. westbound 580, we're not tracking any major delays there. the north bay ride is fine through marin county through sonoma county, in ped lum a south from -- petaluma. and tracking the bridge commutes, the bay bridge, only a 13 to 15-minute drive time, not

opening bell on wall street, we're expecting early trading at 11 points ahead of the opening bell. we'll bring you the numbers throughout the morning on this friday. >> and talking a look at the numbers in the weather as we are looking at rain and the timings's just right. >> at least for one of the games tonight. >> tonight's game we talk a look outside. this is what you'll expect from the city. very similar to what we're seeing. relatively clear skies, cool but not wet. that's the good news. the rain that we're seeing is well to the north and looks like it's going to stay that way throughout today. tomorrow here's a different story. but as for today, temperatures during the morning hours in the mid-to-upper 50s. that's exactly what we're seeing right now. 68 by the way, inland around 71, and by 3:00 in the afternoon, we'll see some sunshine here and there. near 80 though inland.

but it's never too early to start planning on how to get down here. let's face it. thousands of people are going to be coming down to watch the game. others are coming down just to be around the atmosphere and parties. and as you said it's right in the heart of the friday commute. a really pain to get down here and we have some options because mass transit is really stepping up to help out with people trying to get down here. muni, the big one here in san francisco, baseball shuttles, and the t 3rd line. cal train for folks in the peninsula and the south bay. they're going to add extra capacity and to the game express service leaving the ballpark. bart, they say that october 16th championship series game was their fourth busiest day ever and they're going to add service and be running longer trains. if you're coming from the east bay, you want to avoid the bay bridge if you can. if you live in the city and can

bike, they have parking for bikes on the south side of the stadium so you can do that. if you're coming from the north bay, golden gate ferry has a special fer that's leaves and goes right to the -- special ferry that leaves for the ballpark. if you don't have a ticket you're too late on that, and after the game on king street, closed from second to 3rd, that's starting in the 7th inning, and will go for sometime after the ball game. mark obviously, lots ever people are going to want to come linger about, but the last thing you should probably do is step up and add service for folks who want to come down here and get away. i always recommend trying to get down here early, a couple hours in advance would probably not be a bad idea. >> thanks for the update. continuing coverage of the world series on air and online, at

kron 4.com. 6:34's the time, and happening right now, congress is meeting on the federal response to the ebola crisis. this is the white house oversight committee that you see here and they're hearing testimony from different federal agencies today about how they're working to the try to contain the disease. we should learn hour front line military personnel may come in contact with ebola patients in west africa. in the meantime, here's more with the latest. >> reporter: 33-year-old dr. craig spencer is being treated for ebola here at bellevue hospital. the first case of ebola in new york city. we know that he started to feel sluggish on october 21st, but those really severe symptoms of ebola we're told did not kick in until this morning. sometime between 10:00 and 11 a.m. eastern time when he started to get a significant fever, body aches, also nausea and fatigue. he immediately, from his

apartment, at that time officials say called a medical official and ambulance to get him in full protective gear. the first responders brought him immediately here to bellevue hospital, the hospital designated to deal with any potential ebola cases. he was taken immediate into isolation and determined that he did test positive for ebola. four people he came into direct contact with are being monitored by the authorities, also three of his close friend, and another one is an uber taxi driver who officials say does not need to be in quarantine because he did not have really close contact with the doctor. what we also know is that this doctor was out and about in new york city as recently as wednesday evening he went bowling in williamsburg

fog not an issue this morning. santa rosa's cool. 48 there. some upper 50s in concord, oakland, sfrap is just above the 60 degrees park. currently at -- san francisco is just above the 60 degrees mark. this afternoon's going to be nice. by noon time, 60s and 70s and later on this afternoon, widespread 70s and even some low 80s here and there for the south bay and the east bay. where? down in san jose we'll be at 78 nearby in evergreen, 81 for you. in the delta, 77 to 80 degrees this afternoon, 80 in pleasanton, just about that in livermore, san francisco 70 this afternoon, 75 in oakland and mid-70s across the north bay. then, this cold front begins to push in. this will be tonight after the game. probably about midnight or so we'll start to see some scattered showers in advance of that storm. the main event happens about 5:00. 3:00 to five5:00 in the morning.

community is still unsafe to drink this morning. they're getting tired of it. officials say it could be sunday at the earliest before they're able to fix this problem. they've beg your pardon fluring the system since it tested positive. more drinkable days. >> they need to pay all the expenses that anybody had for going including going to the hospital. >> i'm not good it's continuing. it makes it a little hard for doing the dishes. can't do laundry too much and the showers's a little tough. so far three people have reported being sick. until the contamination, residents are being told, boil your water or use bottled water. >> and a marin county neighbor, is concerned the draining of

sudden saltwater canals drained a number of fish. we have more. >> reporter: my name's john, this is my kron 4 story. >> john is 14 years, walking along these canals almost every day. he noticed the water in the canals and the nearby lagons drained out, in the tens of thousands of fish have been stranded and dying on the muddy banks. >> i would venture to guess in the hundreds of thousands. it sounds like a lot for such a small area but if you look at the banks. you can see only fish. >> apparently these are maintained by the public works department but have yet to receive a response. according to the city's web site, the saltwater and lagoons and canals is flushed in the san francisco bay so crews can perform maintenance on the pumps and generators. every fall, it begins on the 3rd sunday of october and continues

until the following weekend. that means water should be flowing back into these canals in just a few days. in the meantime, john has been catching fish and trapped setting them free in the bay. he's hoping that when the water is drained in the future, a better effort can be made to protect wildlife. >> since they decided to command the waters and bring it in from the bay and allow fish to come in with it, they should have some respect and take responsibility to take the time and let them out, as well. >> and a police officer's in critical condition this morning attacked by a man with a hatchet in new york city. you can see a man charging for a new york city police officer with a hatchet. those officers were opposing for a photo. he hit one officer in the head with a hatchet. a second officer was hit in the arm and expected to be okay. the remain it would go officers shot and killed the attacker.
