morning, mike. >> good morning, marty. just about 020 seconds ago, they're had hadding west down marina boulevard over the golden gate bridge and will snake their way back here. 5,000 runners from 24 different countries are taking part this morning. this is the 13th annual u.s. half marathon in san francisco. many people here are running to benefit saint jude's children's hospital. some of the bigger marathon that is we've covered. many people have run a couple of these types of races before. >> so we're looking forward to seeing how well we'll cope with the hills. >> with the strategy, we're not looking forward to it. this year. the strategy is a good thing. we're 13.1 miles trying to finish without stopping. >> a lot of road closures in effect this morning, among them bay street and laguna that runs

until 8:00 this morning. the intersection at bay street and franklin octavia are shutdown until 8:00 this morning. several routes have been rerouted in the area but perhaps impacting the most people on sunday morning foot traffic across the golden gate bridge is closed until 9:30. there are shuttles in place that will take them across the bridge as we come back out here live to aquatic park you can see the runner still making their way through here. a couple of these runners did joke the only reason they signed up. they new daylight's saving times was this weekend they're getting an extra hour of sleep before. >> that's great. we'll be checking in with him throughout the morning. looks like a wonderful day to run, sunshine already up, looks fantastic there, erica. >> lots of sunshine out there, clear conditions for the most part but temperatures actually running between 3 and 12 degrees cooler than 24 hours

greatest. >> a group of 5 was out early saturday morning on a privately owned 32-foot fishing boat with tragedy struck. on the way back, a wave hit the boat. >> they're up this morning. they'll get them long gone and this time of year. >> the 1 survivor, 66-year-old philip sanchez told authorities when tossed out of the vessel he swam towards the rock and waited for help. >> we just got inside the warmed up and to the hospital. >> no 1 aboard had on a life vest. >> we're ready to have the light jacket on. you need to understand what kind of weather you're getting into and be extremely careful. >> he was pronounced dead after getting pulled of the of the water. cpr was performed on the other 3 while en route to the hospital. it was too late, none of them survived. >> the great concern coming out especially not protective

police seized $1 million worth of marijuana. they found over 500 pot plants as they were executing a search warrant. the warehouse hit an intricate growing operation that was equipped with the system. no 1 was at the warehouse at the time. officers say they are following up some clues that could lead to arrest. the operations is believed to

be run by a gain in san jose. >> fremont police are searching for a man who robbed a woman in her own home. it happened around 11:30 on thursday morning. police received strong arm robbery and 4200 block. the intruder stole a gold necklace and fled after the woman yelled for her husband's help. according to police the suspect was last seen driving away in a 4 door gray colored vehicle heading north. a winning ticket from the halloween drawing of mega millions lottery was sold in alameda. it was bought at the market that's on maitlin drive. the ticket matched 5 numbers but not that mega number. this ticket is worth over $600,000. the owner of the ticket has 6 months to claim the money. and coming up, an ebola patient being held in isolation in europe. we have details coming up. here is a live look outside

get. >> they got about 2 inches. there were hazardous driving conditions it looks like lots of sunshine and pretty clear conditions right now. let's take a look at temperatures here in the bay area. low 40s out the door. 46 in jose. 53 in downtown san francisco, but some locations have actually dropped into the upper 30s. we're talking about some pretty mild weather. looks like everyone for the most part the exception is now at 70. but they're climbing to 67, 65 for san francisco, 68 degrees in fremont you'll notice not variation in these micro climates. we'll see dry weather, comfortable weather if you're headed to levi stadium. the 9ers peace off against the ram. kick off at 10 i 5, sunny mild conditions, 64 by 1 this afternoon, 65 we'll gain a

next sunday. >> preliminary numbers show 12 fatal accidents over the past 24 hours. dan ruben reports 1 of the people killed was a san jose resident who may have been an uber passenger. >> my daughter called me from washington this morning, she was getting on a plane within an hour and but she had already been planning to visit because her mother donna, it's her birthday today. >> she went to a party with his boyfriend lawrence. >> i was going to go have a good time at the party and in this case they were smart enough to get a uber taxi and they wouldn't be driving. >> chp is yet to confirm who the driver was working for but they did say it appeared to be a ride sharing company. just before 1:30 saturday morning the driver of the car was in weathered to avoid hitting another vehicle. the driver of shane's car lost control and hit a tree killing

shane instantly. >> at that age it's too young. it's getting started in life. >> another vehicle and semi truck also collided injuring at least 3 people, 1 of them critically. >> meantime we have family loses a loved 1, you know, especially a kid. >> meanwhile, steve holland is hanging on to the last words he said to hi son. >> we had a discussion on the phone about, you know, come down and visit and he told me about his change in lifestyle and i just told him you're my son and i still love you no matter what. >> reporting in morgan hill, dan ruben, kron4 news. and national news struck fireworks at magic kingdom ignited a small fire at the latest ride in florida. firefighters doused these flames quickly and riders got off the mine train safely. disney spokeswoman said nobody was hurt and was evacuated from

the park and ride an hour later. health officials say ebola is in stable condition this morning. dr. craig spencer contracted the potentially deadly virus while treating ebola patients in west africa. he has been undergoing treatment at new york hospital for the past week and spencer is receiving they werey that had worked in treating other ebola patients in atlanta and nebraska nebraska. meanwhile famed ebola patient who is cured is no longer being isolated. she's completing a 21 day period of isolation after recovering from ebola. she's now being attended by hospital staff that no longer have to wear protective outfits. new this morning francis government says it's taken in an un employee while working out there. the patient was evacuated on the special flight and undergoing treatment in high security isolation near paris.

pilots involved in the failed flight of the passenger spacecraft. the current county sheriff's office says 39-year-old michael was found dead at the crash

site. they say the 2nd pilot identified as 43-year-old peter parachuted to the ground but was seriously injured. the spacecraft star ship 2 disintegrated at 45,000 feet over the desert. they're finding out why the spacecraft had the catastrophic failure. >> space is hard and today was a tough day. >> they're stunned following the loss of a 2nd craft in the united states inless than a week. spaceship 2 test flight ended in disaster over california's desert friday. the federal aviation administration said the incident occurred just after the craft separated from the plane that carried it about 50,000 feet into the air. the ceo george whiteside says the company will persevere. >> we are going to be supporting investigation as we figure out what happened today

and as we head into the afternoon, expect upper 60s for the bay location and low 60s along the coast and then it looks like we'll see gradually warmer weather as we head into next week. by the middle of the week we'll see temperatures near 80 for the warmest imland spot. i'll have the full details on what to expect coming up in 15 minutes. >> an investigation underway this morning to try and catch a shooter who is on the loose in san francisco. kron4 andy anderson has the details. >> welcome this morning. i was on my couch and i heard what sounded like fireworks. >> what nate clark heard seconds later made him think otherwise. >> i heard like cars, tires squealing that's what made me think like it was gunshots. >> that's exactly what it was, just after 9:00 a.m. saturday morning a man was shot on the street between ellis and eddie street in san francisco. he heard about 7 gunshots fired in rapid succession. police say the victim was hit

at least once in the chest and tried to help the man. there was too much damage. he died late saturday morning at the hospital. this is the 3rd murder since mid october, that leaves neighbors on edge. >> you know i live right up there. that's concerning. you know, what can you do. >> well, police have a suspect in mind, that person hasn't been caught yet and police are looking for leads on where he might be. in san francisco andy anderson kron4 news. >> a man is under arrest this morning in connection to an attack but injured a 17-year- old girl and a 4-year-old neighbor who came to her rescue. police say the man is aqueoused of beating the girl on the 300 block of east oak wood boulevard. the neighbor tried to intervene both the neighbor and the girl were taken to the hospital for treatment and are in stable condition this morning. the suspect was arrested on suspicious of attempted homicide. a southern california community is in mourning after

3 teen trick or treaters were killed by a hit-and-run driver halloween night. police are still searching for the driver and a passenger who ran away from the abandoned suv that hit the girl. lori perez has more. >> reporter: for the 2nd day children and families filled these sidewalks only today it was to add flowers, stuffed animals and tears to a sad memorial. they're trying to remember the good times as they accept that memories are all they have now. >> they're happy girls. they always like to. >> police say the girls were in the crosswalk at north and fair haven just before 7:00 friday when they were killed by a speeding hit-and-run driver who took off and ditched this suv in a plaza just around the

corner. what she saw left her still visibly shaken sad yeah, i was like, oh it's a joke. so i ran to 1 of the girls and touched her and i saw that she was real and she was dead. >> and more than 1 witness tells us they chased after that suv after hearing the accident. as sad as they are about hearing of this, they're frankly not surprised many say they've been asking for a light or stop sign here for months. >> everybody has, not just me, even from the 1 of my friends from the city console is trying to see if we can get a light here. >> as of late saturday police were still looking for 2 men believed to be the driver and passenger who took off. >> eric appearing in a pennsylvania court on friday. he walked into the courtroom wearing handcuffs of state trooper brian dixon, 1 of 2

state troopers allegedly gunned down, seeing him and handcuffs has some people breathing a little easier. >> today we find some comfort as a community that we are taking these next steps towards justice justice. >> prosecutors preview the long list of charges being filed against him. the state has financed to seek the death penalty. >> and in maine investigators trying to figure out what sparked this deadly house fire, 5 bodies were found inside the home. police say that it's used as an off campus housing apartment, university of southern maine student and halloween party was held there saturday night. seven people escaped with no injuries. authorities looking for at least 3 others who attended the party but remain unaccounted for this morning. it's possible that the missing guests left before the flames broke out. a woman in hawaii is lucky

to be alive as she was attacked by 12-foot shark. her name is clark and she was surfing when the shark bit her surfboard and her left hand. clark pulled her hand out of the shark's mouth and that tore off the skin of her hand. her foliole friend -- her fellow surfer and friend brian grabbed the shark, punched it in the nose 5 times until the predator swam away. now doctors say that clark will need skin graft surgery to fully repair her hand. much more ahead on kron4 news weekend. we'll have more after the break. and live look outside from our roof camera. we're waking up to sunny skies, chilly out there, but a drying and warmer trend heading this way.

time now 7:38, gun stores are dealing with a problem they haven't faced in a while. they have more product çon shelves than they can sell. failed following a shooting at newtown, connecticut school in 2012. back then gun stores could not keep up with demand but it seems at some point they've been over ordered and now there are too many guns sitting on their store shelves, background checks which are required for most gun transactions have risen every month since march compared to last year. the u.s. postal service is gearing up to help customers ship out 15 half billion cards letters and packages in time for christmas. it's also aiming to cash in on the holiday by offering festive stance packaging and gift cards to make sure that your package is delivered on time, the postal service is suggesting sending gifts out a little early taking advantage of

some of the big stories we're following for you, tragedy strikes. four people are dead after their boat capsized off the coast. one person was pronounced dead after being pulled out of the water. cpr was performed on the other 3, but unfortunately none of them survived. a 5th person, 66-year-old philip sanchez is recovering this morning in the hospital. no 1 aboard, according to coast guard, had a life vest on. plus police seizing over $1 million worth of marijuana. they found more than 500 marijuana plants inside a warehouse while executing a

search warrant. police say the warehouse hid an intricate growing operation equipped with special lights and even a water system. no 1 was inside but officers say they are following clues that could lead to arrest. the fatal accident may have involved the driver working for the online ride sharing company, uber, 24-year-old shane hall and his boyfriend lawrence were dressed up to go to a party. they decided to take an uber taxi. the accident happened just before 1:30 saturday morning. the driver of the car swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle that spun out of control on i-80. the driver lost control and hit a tree and that killed shane instantly. chp has yet to confirm who the driver of shane's car was working for. let's go ahead and check out the other big story of the day. that is wonderful weather outside. >> good morning marty, beautiful skies, blue out there, as we take a live look from our roof camera but you

will need a jacket. it's cold out there. temperatures have dropped into the upper 30s, most of us in the low to mid 40s, now san francisco milder 53 right now. and it looks like we will enjoy mild conditions into the afternoon by 12:00 looks like most locations in the 60s and then it looks like we could squeeze out 70 or 2 as we head into 3 this afternoon. here is the break down today, 67 in fremont. could reach 70 grows in napa. now, that october is over and done with, i want to talk about how much rain we received for the month, santa rosa saw about half inch. over half inch for oakland, that's a pretty good start, right, take a look at the october rain fall monthly deficit. we should have seen about an inch and a half in santa rosa, over half inch in san francisco. we're still a little behind where we should be this time of year. no rain in sight as we take a look at the forecast, lots of

sunshine, temperatures will warm up as we head into the middle of the week, so wednesday into thursday we are talking about temperatures approaching the 80-degree mark. although the temperatures will back off a bit, we're still going to hold on to dry conditions. >> here is stanley roberts who found some people behaving badly. >> if you leave kaiser medical center in walnut creek and use 1 of the 2 crosswalks you can make it to the strip mall across the street for lunch in less than 4 minutes, including waiting for the walk to go across. however, the shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line, which is what employees and visitors have figured out and apparently $200 is nothing to save 4 minutes. you see, that's how much it cost they try to start issuing jaywalking tickets to all the people i caught in just 90 minutes after receiving a tip simply with video clips i came here and watched dozens upon dozens of people violating

state law by crossing illegally, sometimes stopping traffic in the process. once someone spotted me recording, the word got out quick. even security showed up to make sure i wasn't on their property. it was a steady group of people crossing, and this guy using a cane. these 2 are warned i was there and the appeared to change their mind but that was a fake out. now, with all the jaywalkers, some on cell phones and in some distracted drivers and moving violations and you have a recipe for disaster. but, hey, it's right out side a medical center, so the evidence fee if you get hit should only cost you about a thousand dollars. for the record in walnut creek, crossing a street between 2 controlled intersections, ie, intersections with a traffic control signal in a business district is considered jaywalking. now, many people i spoke to say mid block crosswalk, the city

of walnut creek's policy is not to add mid street crosswalks they believe motorists respect expect them at intersection not mid block. there is a way of making that crossing legal, it's simple, turn the business district into a residential district then you can cross at your own risk. in walnut creek, stanley roberts. let's turn to sports. the cardinals taking on the ducks in eugene last night. this 1 was all about the ducks they're forcing 2 stanford turn overs and put up 25 points and ducks defense held the cardinals to passing. oregon goes on to win in a walk, 45-16, 1st time the cardinals allowed more than 30 points in a game and more than 31 game. different story for the bears as they were taking on oregon state. cal ran up almost 550 total yards forcing 1 turn overas

brian stuart tracked him down in alberta to learn more about the man and his passion for the patio. >> in the middle of downtown melody so beautiful that she knew she had to record this. >> i wanted to show it to my kids. i wanted to show it to my friends. it's kind of unbelievable. >> but the question became just who is this man and what is his story after 3 days of searching the inner city and the shelters we finally found him, 43-year- old ryan. he looked much different and had no idea he was a star of a video that went viral. >> it's hard to piece together just how he got here. he was put into foster care as a young child and it was in 1 of those homes where he 1st

pull your shoulder blades back bit and palms down and then palms out, pull back. do you feel that. >> you do feel it. >> and bring it forward a little bit. palms down and palms out and pull back. >> i can feel it. >> you want to do it about 10 times, last 1 keep it back here. i want to move so i don't smack you in the face, you want to go into a swimmer's position like this with your palms down. you want to pull back out like this. bring them forward with your palms down. >> i feel i'm going to be soar tomorrow. >> right. >> it's not the point. you know, you really don't especially if you're sitting at the computer like this. it's çkind of stretching. >> and feel them slowly and controlled fashion.

the hospital this morning. kron4 news alecia reid has the story. >> very confused. hypothermic, so he was very confused. >> reporter: a group of five was out crabbing saturday morning on a privately owned 32- foot fishing boat which tragedy struck. on the way back into bodega, a wave hit the boat and flipped it. >> the conditions were pretty rough this morning. the conditions this is typical for this time of year. >> reporter: the one survivor, 66-year-old phillip sanchez told authorities when tossed out of the vessel, he swam towards bodega rock, and waited for help. >> we basically got him warmed up and to the hospital. >> reporter: no one aboard had on a life vest. >> you need to have your life jacket on and understand what kind of weather you're getting into. be extremely careful. >> reporter: one was pronounced

dead after getting pulled out of the water. cpr was performed on the other three. it was too late. none of them survived. >> it's a great concern. the water temperature is very cold. >> nobody goes to that island. that island took 8 people a decade ago. mary jean went down and 8 people flipped over board and they never found the bodies. >> reporter: and a kron 4 viewer sent this boat. they say it's part of the boat that capsized and we're learning the identities of the victims in the accident. two were bodega bay residents, jesse langley, samuel garcia, and a fourth victim has been identified but investigators have yet to release that information since they are still working to notify next of kin. in san francisco, one man is dead after a hit-and-run in the city of bay view neighborhood. police say the victim is a man in his 20s or 30s. he was riding a skate board at

the time of the collision. officers found the driver who told police he at no time realize that he had had hit the -- he didn't realize that he had hit the victim. it's an ongoing situation. daily police arrested two women for offering sex acts to undercover officers at massage parlors. they worked at union spa and salon on mission therapy. the latest sting happened on thursday. both cases have been turned over to the san mateo county district attorney's office. new this morning, oakland police are investigating a deadly shooting. it happened last night on the 3800 block of west street in north oakland. one person was shot and killpol for the suspects. and happening right now, thousands of runners have been spending the morning running about 13 miles this morning in the annual u.s. half marathon in san francisco. the course started at aquatic park, went across the golden

big day. we have elections coming up. break down the states. it's a big battle between the republicans and the democrats. >> this is for control of the united states senate, and the republicans need to get a net gain of seats and they have 3 in the bag, montana, north dakota and south dakota and west virginia are basically gone, so then it's like a cafeteria plan for the republicans. they have to decide which ones they're going to choose, how they're going to do it, and the democrats strategy is to try and steal one or two away, make it difficult, try and pin down their resources but basically if you're on election night there with the chart going can way is it going to go, you want to look at these states, alaska, mark the incumbent in a tough race, arkansas, mark pryor if a tough race against tom cotton. colorado, you wouldn't necessarily think colorado would be in the flip column, but mark ye udal, the incumbent

senator is in deep trouble, trailing in the polls to korey gardener, and a state where obama has won twice in a row and he's now very unpopular there. iowa, probably harry reid is identified as the most important state, figures whichever way iowa goes that's the way the senate is going to go. it's an open seat. used to be tom harkin's seat, a democratic seat, and joanie who has made how would you put it an interesting ad involving castrating animals as a metaphor for dc against bruce braley, and the member of congress for indiana. it's neck and neck. louisiana, where mary landy is in deep trouble. new hampshire where scott brown is putting up a fight against incumbent. north carolina, kay hagan looks like she's going to take it away. kansas is the wild card. in a situation where the democrat withdrew from the race, you have an independent

named greg orrman, hasn't said democrat or republican. democrats are pouring a lot of money into that. pat roberts say he went back to kansas if he had an opponent. that's neck and neck. watching all those, the democrats if they can take kansas and hold up to, you know, four or five of the others, they're going to be okay. but if they lose candidates and they lose three or four others, it's all over, and that's what obama is worried about right now. >> right. and so, you know, he's facing the possibility of a gop controlled house and senate. >> right. >> so what's his role been if because he hasn't been out there campaigning a lot. >> the common wisdom is when you have a president who's a little unpopular and he's a little unpopular right now, you don't send him out on the campaign trail. you send him out to raise money, to simply turn spigot and send to candidates that are needed. a pattern repeated throughout

history. the most recent is george w bush. his approval ratings, 38%. obama's low 40s. he was nowhere to be seen during the 2006 midterm, but he was to be seen raising money left and right. that's what obama is doing now. the president is helping out in some states, very blue states, pennsylvania where he's helping a candidate who's probably going to win in a landslide anyway, connecticut, a close race. and he's doing a lot of other things to get out the african- american turnout which will help the senate candidates if the south. they just wanted help with that. they don't want him in the actual state itself. >> one person who's been busy campaigning this weekend is mitch mcconnell who is the senate minority leader. he may become the senate majority leader. >> and he's in a tough race against allison grimes. >> in kentucky. >> in kentucky. there's been a little brew ha ha over the fact that the mcconnell campaign sent out a

notice, an election violation notice which is a political flier. it was targeted toward african- american democratic strongholds. people are claiming foul. he's trying voter suppression. the fact is mitch mcconnell for lack of a better word wins his elections all the time. he wins dirty. he wins with a lot of money. i think he's probably going to pull it out this time now, but it has been easy for him. >> do you think with president obama unpopularity right now that the gop has a very good chance of controlling both the house and the senate. >> well, they're going to control the house. there's no doubt about that. the only question now is will obama break the record for most midterm losses in the house, currently held by harry trueman around 83. he's lost 66. no one's expecting a big wave and maybe a little wave, but so all the political bidding right now is whether or not he goes

gilroy please seized $1 million of marijuana. authorities say they found 500 pot plants inside a warehouse while they were executing a search warrant. police say the warehouse hid an intricate growing operation equipped with lights and a watering system. no one was inside the warehouse at the time but officers are saying they're following clues that could lead to arrests. the operation believed to be run by a gang if san jose. fremont police are searching for a man who robbed a woman in her own home.

it happened around 11:30 on thursday morning when police received a report of a robbery taking place on the 4200 bloc t the intruder stole a gold necklace from the woman's neck and fled after she yelled for her husband's help. according to police, the suspect was last seen driving away in a four door gray colored vehicle heading north. in national fuse, in maine, investigators are trying to figure out what sparked this deadly house fire. five bodies were found inside the home, and police say it's used as an off campus housing area for university of southern maine students and a halloween party was held there on saturday night. 7 people escaped with no injuries. authorities are looking for at least three others who attended the party but remain unaccounted for. investigators say it's possible the missing guests left before the flames broke out. a woman if hawaii is lucky to be alive this morning after she was attacked by a 12-foot

that lifts the veil on ancient saudi arabia going on at the asian art museum in san francisco. >> joining us is the rose of arabia, at at asian art museum, and a new exhibit in traveling to different cities around the u.s., starting in dc, ending in san francisco. tell us more about the exhibit and what we can expect to see. >> yes, so the exhibit features art and artifacts from ancient saudi arabia. really does reveal a new part of the region that we've never known before. so visitors should expect over 200 objects that date as far back as 1 million years ago to the 17th, 18th century. >> i would assume that it was difficult to convince saudi arabian authorities that this exhibit needs to be seen. can you tell us a little bit about the negotiation that went on back and forth to try to get this exhibit going. >> luckily, since we were not

the original organizers, dc was the original organizers, they did the negotiation for us. >> so you got to reap the benefits. >> yes, until our main responsibility was simply to taylor the exhibition to our space and audiences. >> archaeology is a somewhat fairly new venture if saudi arabia where the objects have not been seen or brought until 2010 or so. so is this kind of you think the door opening to understanding more about saudi arabian history and culture? >> yes, for our opening dinner last week, the prince was our special guest of honor and he said it is the initial step towards making connections between saudi arabia and the u.s., and opening up the cultural history of the region. >> there are so many artifacts that are going to be on display there. tell us what stands out most to you and why? >> the things that stand out to

me the most definitely are these colossal stone sculptures from northwestern arabia. they stand out to me because like most of our visitors, you know, my conception of o saudi arabia is that it's a vast desert. but yet, you get these stashes that are over 9 feet tall that came out of that desert, and i think it would be a surprise. >> is that what we're looking at here? >> this is a know owe littic sculpture. >> and -- neolithic scroll pture. >> what do you think are -- sculptures. >> what do you think are the star pieces of the exhibit? >> these are some of the star pieces. we consider them among the earliest art work to come out of o saudi arabia. >> how old is that. >> 4th millennium bc.

boat capsized of the sonoma county coast. one person was pronounced dead after getting pulled out of the water. cpr was performed on the other three. unfortunately none of them survived. a 5th person 56-year-old phillip sanchez is recovering in the hospital. no one had a life vest on. gilroy police seized more than a million dollars worth of marijuana. they found over 500 marijuana plants inside a warehouse while executing a search warrant. the warehouse hid a growing operation with special lights and a watering system. nobody was inside the warehouse at this time but officers say they are following clues that could lead to an arrest. a fatal accident in sacramento may have involved a driver working for an an line ride sharing company. it happened before 1:30 saturday morning, the driver of the car carrying 24-year-old shane holland and his boyfriend, swerved to avoid another vehicle that spun out on i-80 in sacramento. the driver lost control and hit
