as perspective. this side show was large and seemingly well organized. you see these two red cars here doing their spin donut business. at one point, one of the cars hits or almost hits people right there on the side of things right there. the driver stops. moments later surrounded by an friday spectators. other cars, they also get in the act. eventually police show up and cruisers are out in droves. other officers approach on foot with guns drawn. eventually the crowd disperses. look at them go, first on foot and then in vehicles. one guy right there hanging out of a car as it takes off off the crew responsible for this came from fresno. officers need to be on their toes for this sort of business.

pam? >> whether it is the result of the holiday, the cold temperatures or the length of time since monday's grand jury announcement, protests seem to have calmed down in ferguson, missouri. demonstrations have not stopped entirely, though. in fact, they have even spread over seas and as andrew spencer reports, tensions remain between officials and protesters. >> even with protesters at times shouting obscenities. it's calmer here than it has been in the last several days. tense but calmer. the aftermath of rioting after monday night's announcement the grand jury found no probable cause. business owners have also asked why the national guard and some 500 police officers weren't able to protect their stores

to head across the bay bridge and into the city this thursday evening on this holiday. hopefully a lot of turkey. i know i did. all right. right now in san francisco, it's 63 degrees. also 63 in oakland. san jose still mild at 68 degrees. vest, -- santa rosa, 60s. increasing clouds will be dry for the early black friday shopping. the north bay late afternoon evening rain arrives and then, boy, it's going to be another wet weekend. we're talking rainy conditions. our futurecast showing us the rain arriving in the north bay as early as late afternoon. i would say early evening hours. vest, nevada, by 5:00 and 6:00, you may see the rain arriving. this is the first round of storms. more storms coming this way. some locations could get up to six to eight inches. we'll talk more about where those locations are.

margaret choi spent the day trying to raise awareness. her friend, robin williams, is her inspiration for her action. >> the problem is worse than ever. i grew up in this city. i've never seen it so bad. so i wanted to come back and for the rest of the year, i'm doing events where we can raise money and give people food, clothes. give people whatever they need. >> margaret visited one of the youth services facilities during their harvest fest that provides a hot thanksgiving meal for the youth. >> when you see a homeless person on the street, don't ignore them. remember that is somebody's child. it's somebody's kid. and it's scary out there. >> margaret is doing popup shows across san francisco for homeless resource centers. you can find out about these performs by following her or twitter. her handle is at margaret cho.

it may be thanksgiving, but the shopping countdown is on from now until christmas. americans will be hitting the stores this holiday season. the national retail federation predicts holiday sales will total $616 billion. that's up 4.1% from last year and online shopping is expected to grow to as much as $105 billion. remember the days when a single toy whipped parents, kids, stores into a holiday frenzy. well, things have changed over the years as the electronics and gaming ranked higher on kids' wish lists, and toys slipped in sales. we looked at some of the items aiming to bring back the joy to toy sales this season. >> which of these toys will be the single runaway hit of the season? likely none of them. >> although there's some key trends that we're seeing, at

last night ending in that wild side show at the port of oakland. now the chp was able to get this there and bust up last night. they're trying to sift through evidence to try to find out who was involved. cars spinning donuts, dozens of people flooding the streets, and this car fire, this video courtesy of the helicopter partnership with abc 7 news, all of this happening just before 11:00 wednesday night at the port of oakland. from the ground, you can see up with of cars allegedly involved in the side show on fire. investigators say several gunshots were fired in and around the vehicles involved in the dangerous side show shenanigan shenanigans. >> we were trained in certain tactics. we were able to use our training in this instance to block everyone in and block all the escape routes. some people were able to get out. >> the chp is saying they had to detain over 100 cars near the side show and then officers going car by car had the task

of determining who was involved in the side show. >> right now we're identifying everybody that was involved. we're going to have to take enforcement action on most of those parties. >> the chp has not confirmed the exact number of arrests made, just saying dozens of people are now facing several charges. officers conducted over 200 field interviews at the scene and recovered several firearms as well. and the chp says they're more than willing to -- in this case. >> an oakland man is behind bars tonight, accused of driving drunk and causing a deadly crash on interstate 880. it happened near the off ramp in hayward. authorities say it started with a two-car collision on winston avenue. that's when another car driven by chad rain nor of oakland collided with another vehicle, killing the driver.

he suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital in castro valley where officers arrested him on suspicion of dui. and oakland police on alert tonight, just in case more protests erupt over the ferguson grand jury decision in the michael brown case for a third straight night. last night, protesters busted windows and vandalized several businesses. this video from the partnership with abc 7. police were there the entire time. at one point, protesters and police got into a verbal confrontation. by the end of the night, 30 people were arrested. since monday night, oakland police arrested more than 450 people. darren wilson, the police officer at the center of the nationwide protest is reportedly now in hiding. his lawyer says wilson is in talks to leave the ferguson police department and may give up being a police officer all

happening today, it's the season for giving this thanksgiving day. volunteers showed up very early to help serve thousands of people in need in san francisco. this is all happening today. reverend lee and jackie spear on hand to carve the turkeys and hand out the meals at all the trimmings. some call it the best meal in san francisco. they serve more than 8,000 meals a year to anyone who shows up at the church. a number of community

organizations in san francisco are opening their doors for anyone in need of a warm thanksgiving meal. st. anthonys will be serving this those in need. their new dining room is on 121. volunteers with meals on wheels will be delivering thanksgiving meals to people who cannot make it out of their homes n. richard, the bay area rescue mission and dinner service begins at 7:00 this evening. that's located on mcdonald avenue. >> comedian margaret cho spent her thanksgiving in san francisco trying to raise awareness about the city's homeless situation. she's doing popup shows across san francisco at various homeless resource centers. she says her good friend the late robin williams inspired her to help the homeless. >> this is all about him. i couldn't get over his death, and my friend said don't grieve robin. be robin. he was such an advocate for the

thousands of travelers are trying to reach their holiday destinations after severe weather back east crippled air travel for much of the country. airlines canceled more than 700 flights and delayed more than 4,000 others yesterday. the busiest travel day of the season, more than 450 flights were canceled today and nearly 4300 were delayed. as you might imagine, that did not sit too well with the passengers stranded at the

here in oakland there have been three straight nights of protest. wrapping up with a side show in oakland. you can see the cars spinning donuts. the chp was able to get in and bust up the side show, but they had to go through more than 100 cars that were locked up in the side show. one of the cars was actually set on fire. we know that dozens and dozens of people were placed under arrest by the chp in that area near the port of oakland. i can tell you that the chp says this is an ongoing investigation. they will be looking at evidence and more arrests are likely. reporting in oakland, scott race, kron 4 news. in san francisco, comedian

it has one storm after the other just kind of hitting us, hitting us. the next several days, it loose like it starts tomorrow. late afternoon, early evening for the bay area. so i think we're going to be out early tomorrow doing the black fridayen shopping. you're going to be fine. you will notice temperatures are a little cooler. clouds will be increasing, friday night, the rain arrives. then it comes into the bay area early saturday morning. sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday, we're going to have plenty of rain and we'll also see the rain pick up, especially saturday night into sunday. there's a small possibility that we could see downed trees or power lines, and because there's one storm after the other, right now a flooding is a concern. minor flooding. so there is a possibility that flood advisories may be posted over the next few days. let's keep you posted. we need this rain. this could be some of the wettest conditions we've seen since november 2012. >> that's amazing. >> yeah. >> be careful if you're out driving.
