21st, the first day of winter. i'm marty gonzalez. here is what the weather will look like. here is erica kato. >> we aren't dealing with storms in the bay for the first day of winter. although it looks like we're maintaining mostly dry conditions, if you're heading out right now you'll notice wet pavement and drizzle. i needed to use my windshield wipers this morning. here is the wider view of satellite and radar. we're starting to dry things out in the bay area. we have rain to the north and to our east, so still dealing with the showers if you're heading up to seataira nevada. visibility a factor right now. we have low clouds forming not only along the coast but for the north bay as well. the visibility is at hadmiles, only seeing a mile and a half through half moon bay. visibility in hayward down to two miles. this fog will be a pattern for the next couple of mornings. good news is temperatures running 10-15 degrees above normal for this time of the hour and it looks like we'll see cloudy conditions with a few

breaks of sunshine as we head into the afternoon. sunny and warmer conditions on tap as we head into tomorrow and it looks like we'll maintain dry weather as we need the christmas holiday with high pressure building over the eastern pacific. the full details on what to sxekd at 7:15. -- expect at 7:15. the new york police department is mourning the death of two of its own officers. two officers were killed saturday by a lone gunman. andy rose reports the gunman then took his own life. >> these officers were shot execution style, particularly despicable act. >>reporter: two new york police officers are dead following an ambush saturday afternoon. william braden says wenjin liu and raphael ramos were shot while they sat in their patrol car in brooklyn, both sustained gunshot wounds to the head. >> officer lie and officer ramos never had the opportunity to

draw their weapons. they may have never seen the assailment. ismaaiyl brinsley's body was found in a nearby subway station. he died of a self inflicted gunshot wounds. they're shocked and outraged by the violence. >> they can't happen. if you're mad at somebody, be mad at the person you're mad at. we have two families missing somebody for the holidays. i don't condone this and i'm not with it. >>reporter: investigators say they're looking for a motive but that brinsley's social media post indicated bias against law enforcement. the fallen officers were not engaged with the shooter in any way before they were attacked. i'm andy rose reporting. dozens of new york city police officers turned their backs on new york city mayor bill de blasio. it happened as he was headed to a press conference about the two officers that were killed in brooklyn saturday afternoon. that is when numerous nypd officers gathered awaiting word on the conditions of officer

raphael ramos and wenjin liu. that is where they were taken after the ambush. mayor de blasio faced criticism after a grand jury decided not indict a white officer in the death of eric garner. many people say he failed to support the police department in the after math of that decision. some people blame city leaders for the events leading up to saturday's deadly shooting. >> there is blood on many hands. those that insited violence on the street under guides of protest that tried to tear down what new york city police officers did every day. we tried to warn it must not go on. it cannot be tolerated. that is blood on their hands, on the steps of city hall, in the office of the mayor. >>reporter: crowds gathered at the hospital saluting the ambulances escorting the two fallen nypd officers. fellow officers and new york

residents showing their compassion as the ambulance drove away. this somber tribute was hours after the officers were killed in brooklyn. happening today in san francisco, a pro investigational to mark the nine-month -- processional to mark the nine-month death of alex nieto. they shot him back in march. police sthachl officers opened fire after nieto fired a taser gun at police. he was a student at city college of san francisco and worked as a security guard. he was also a community activist and had plans and dreams of becoming a probation officer. well, as we mentioned it is the first day of winter. it may feel like a winter has been around for a month or so but today is the first day that the winter season officially starts. it will be the shortest and darkest day of the year today. hundreds of people are marking it in grand style. thousands rather. they're heading to stone heng in england. in the bay area tonight, many people will mark the winter

solstice with a night hike. they will meet at the rob hill campground in san francisco. today another very busy place, travellers trying to get out of town for the holidays, make it crowded, bay area airports. jacqueline bennett live at sfo this morning with the latest. how is it looking out there? >>reporter: well, it is very festive out here is how it looks. fefb the sfo -- they have the sfo international airport lit up in the holiday colors and they are expecting to see that holiday travel start to ramp up, actually, it started on friday and will culminate on tuesday when they expect to see the business yesterdayest travel day -- buzz yesterdayst travel day -- busiest travel day of the season. there are ground glachls because of weather. they expect to see delays somewhere in the 30 to 45-minute range which isn't unusual this time of year but expect to see

about 66,000 people leaving the airport today, another 6 65,000 coming into the airport, so a total of about 120,000 which is a little above normal but the busy days will start tomorrow and tuesday, tuesday they expect to see well over 150,000 people travelling in and out of the airport. the good news is so far we haven't seen any weather delays around the country that will cause any travel issues. but you know, this is something we do every year. we talk about it. when you're travelling this time of the year, you should expect to see delays, check with your carrier. the other thing is, so many people are travelling with gifts. do not wrap those gifts. we talk about it every year. you go through security which is much tighter than it used to be and those presents wrapped, well, they go through the check point and have to be unwrapped. so if you have the presents you're bringing to uncle sam's house across the country, don't wrap them, leave them out, wrap them on the other side.

saturday morning. >> officers with k-9's canvassed the area. >> you wouldn't expect that here. >> on saturday, a man lay dead in hons park with multiple gunshot wounds, a victim, a white or hispanic man in his 20's was found on the trail. a number of neighbors heard the gunshots and called authorities. >> there was no suspects seen leaving the area. >>reporter: attack took place in the morning. for hours, the police had the park closed off as officers searched for clues. >> they were cops all over, i asked if i could walk through, he said no. >> this is my backyard. it is a quiet area it is surprising something like that would happen here. >> once in awhile you hear of somebody having a car broken into, but a murder? no. houses broken into, probably, that is really about it. >>reporter: police are investigating this as a homicide. meanwhile, people who live in the area believe this may be an isolated incident.

golden gate bridge forming along the coast and shoreline. visibility down to just a half mile in the oakland area you're seeing about three miles in hayward and redwood city. now, the low clouds will start to lift through as we head into the afternoon. a lot of cloud cover will stick in today's forecast. we'll only experience a few breaks of sunshine. satellite and radar shows that most of the wet weather, however to our north and to our east. so if you're heading up to tahoe. we're dealing with rain but chains aren't required if you're headed in that direction. after noon highs look like this. plenty of upper 50s, low 60s. vallejo, 53, 60 degrees in oakland. upper 50s for downtown san francisco. we do have a coastal flood advisory in effect until tuesday afternoon. we're talking about a significantly higher tide than normal for the next three mornings. ocean waves over 20 feet expected. also, keep in mind that some areas will be prone to flooding especially the low lying areas. keep that in mind and be

cautious if you're headed to the beaches. look at your seven around the bay forecast. we'll maintain dry weather as pressure builds in. we'll see temperatures climb into the upper 60s as we head into early next week. dry weather sticks around as we head into christmas thursday and it looks like temperatures will right lane start to drop off as we head into next weekend. the extended models showing that we will be wet weather free for at least the next seven days. the strong earthquake hit eastern indonesia a few hours ago. there are no records of injuries or damage just yet. authorities say a tsunami is not like lae. the greatest quake to strike was 10 years ago. it triggered a tsunami that killed 230,000 people in a dozen countries. they're prone to earthquakes due to the location on the pacific ring of fire. that is an arc of volcano and

fault lines in the pacific basin. north korea now speaking out about the cyber attack against sony pictures which led to the studio cancelling the release of the film, the interview. the north korea regime is suggesting an unprecedented solution. april williams has the latest on the hack and the fall out. >>reporter: north korea slammed the united states investigation into the cyber attack against sony pictures. right before the regime suggested the two nations work together to find the hackers called guardians of peace and issued a threat if the u.s. refuses. the news agency reported saturday america's childest investigation result and it's attempt to frame us for the crime shows the hostile tendency toward us. if america refuses our proposal of mutual investigation and continues to link us to the case, they will be met with furious consequences. the fbi has determined north korea is responsible for the attack. their investigation linked malware and techniques used

against sony to previous attacks. the interview is the movie that prompted attack. seth rogan and james franco movie about reporters recruited to kill kim jong-un. >> you two will be alone with him and the cia would love it if you could take him out. >> president obama believes sony made a mistake by cancelling the release. >> we can't have a society in which some dictator can start imposing censorship here in the united states. >> but the sony picture ceo michael lenden hit back saying that his company did not make a mistake. >> we experienced the worst cyber attack in american history and persevered for three and a half week as under enormous stress and enormous difficulty. we have persevered and we have not backed down. >> the studio is currently exploring other options for releasing the film. i'm april williams reporting.

new this morning, the u.s. is considering twhotd put north korea back on its list of state sponsors of terrorism. president obama says the cyber attack against sony is an example of cyber vandism. in the meantime, the u.s. is asking china with potential responses to the hack. an official with the obama administration says the u.s. and china have shared information about this attack nd in an editorial published in a chinese newspaper, the ruling communist party says any civilized country will oppose hacker attacks or terror threats. they go on to condemn sony saying the vicious mocking of north korea leader kim jong-un in the film, the interview; a result of sense less cultural arrogance. the cyber attack on sony pictures is raising questions about just how prepared the u.s. government is to defend itself against hackers. there were 61,000 hacks and security breaches throughout last year. the network's at the white house

and the state department were targeted recently. cyber incidents involving government agencies are sky rocketing. that number hit more th,000 last year and in january, 2013, hackers hit the army core of engines grabbing sensitive information. people were stealing hard copies of paper work and passing them off when we had spies. today they can do that digitally and take magnitudes more data than in the past. >> in july of 2013, the hackers got into the department of energy and stole the personal data of more than 100,000 people. they also lifted information including birthdays, social security, and bank account numbers, the u.s. government says it has to assume an attack could happen at any time and that organizations need to be pre. attorneys in national news this morning & legal battle could be brewing and it all has to do with the phrase i can't breathe. that saying has become a rallying cry for demonstrators angry over the recent deaths of

african-american men at the hands of police officers. that includes eric garner. an illinois woman filed an application for a trademark on the phrase. garner's mother has threatened legal action of the application if it isn't dropped. >> those are our personal words. that is personal with the family. if we want to coin the phrase, we'll do it because we're his family. we don't want anybody making money. we're not making money off the phrase. we weren't trying to make money off the phrase. >> the woman who filed the application claims that she has been using that phrase for commercial purposes since august. there is no word on whether the application has been approved. still ahead for you on kron 4 news weekend. the niners taking on the chargers go to overtime at levi stadium last night. we'll hear from niner faithful who are sticking by the team even if the playoffs are no longer an option.

police were originally called for a noise complaint because the suspect was banging on doors in the neighborhood. when police arrived to the neighborhood, the suspect shot one of the officers. the gunman is now in police custody. we'll continue to follow the story throughout the morning. we're also learning new details about the gunman who ambushed and killed two new york city officers and turned the gun on himself. new york city police commissioner says the suspect, 28-year-old ismaaiyl brinsley, who ambushed and killed and made online posts that were anti-police. brinsley reportedly posted on instagram saturday, quote, i'm putting wings on pigs today. they take one of ours, let's take two of theirs. he also wrote, this may be my final post. he had an image of a silver handgun that you see there. brinsley used the #shootthepolice and rip eric garner. hours before the shooting new york police officials say he

shot and injured his ex-girlfriend in baltimore and made posts on her account. they're investigating that shooting and receiving information that he made threatening comments about police and issued an alert to the nypd. they received at lert about the same time -- alert about the same time as attack. president obama issued a statement while on vacation in hawaii condemning the murder of those new york police officers. the president saying there is no justification for the murders. he went on to say that officers risk their own safety to serve and protect the communities and they deserve the public's respect and gratitude and asking americans to reject violence and harmful words and instead im brace words that skwleel the family of michael brown released a statement through their attorney condemning the shooting of the police officer saying in part, any kind of violence directed toward members of law enforcement cannot be tolerated. michael brown, as you know, was shot and killed by a police

officer in ferguson, missouri, back in august. demonstrators a grabbing at tension of holiday shoppers at the mall of america in bloomington minnesota. organizers of the black lives matter protest say they want to get word out about police brutality. mall management says that the mall is private property and urge the demonstrators to gather at an empty lot nearby instead. demonstrations against police violence are going on across the country ever since michael brown's death in august. an estimated 2,000 people attended saturday's protest. the world still reeling this morning after a bloody attack on innocent school children in pakistan. that massacre happened last week when taliban terrorists killed 11 people, mostly young students. anti-taliban demonstrations have been protesting in the streets of pakistan's capitol to bring attention to the brutal murders. back here in the bay area, a vigil was held in san francisco saturday for all of those lives

lost. kron four jeff pierce has the story. >> in the after math of the tragedy in pakistan where more than 130 children were killed by taliban extremists, pakistani americans gathered in san francisco saturday trying to deal with the horrific event. >> this was just unacceptable. 130 children were just brutally massacred. it is just not something you can turn your eyes away from, your heart away from. >> absolutely devastating. i could not come to terms with how somebody could do something this monstrous. >>reporter: what began as a vigil quickly turned into a forum for the well educated pakistani americans to express their frustrations and hopes for pakistan. >> it is not as easy as sending a bunch of planes and bombing the crap out of them and this is it. it is not worth it for everyone. it is not working.

>>reporter: what we can do, just here with our family members, is know there is an idea. >>reporter: one thing they agreed upon is for their country to begin solving its many problems lies in the place where the tragic events took place. >> we're educated pakistani americans, and you know, who have been taught critical thinking, like this is what happens when you have somebody who thinks critically. we need more of that among the pakistanis in pakistan. >> this tragedy that happened earlier this the week was -- earlier in the week was just horrific. i wanted to create a space for people to reflect on what happened and how they can go and try to make the lives of pakistani children better. how they can go and support education efforts there. >> in san francisco, jeff pierce, kron 4 news.

15 degrees warmer than where we should be so it is a mild morning in that regard. temperatures through the most part in the mid-50's. by lunch time, some of the low clouds will start to lift but we're talking about higher clouds staying with us throughout the day. so sun breaks are expected in the forecast and temperatures for the most part in the 60s. satellite and radar says we're dry for the most part in the bay area although we're dealing with mist right now. that is in the process of tapering off. any active weather is situated to the north and east. we've seen pretty impressive rain fall totals in the month of december. we remember how dry we were last year and the bigger story, the cold temperatures, we were dealing with the cold snap with temperatures in the teen and in the 20's. take a look at rain we've seen for the past month, over 14 inches for santa rosea. 11 and a half inches for downtown san francisco. that is well above average. it is actually one of the wettest december's on record.

we received 100 % of normal in san francisco area. we won't see too much rain as we wrap up the month. high pressure back in place over the eastern pacific so with that said, we'll maintain lots of sunshine, warmer temperatures, and i think we'll hold on to at least mild weather. no rain into the forecast. >> thank you ericka. with the proposed normal observation with the relations between the u.s. and cubea. some businesses and citizens stand to gain more than ozes. rosa -- others. rosa flores shows how the u.s. can gain. >>reporter: everybody loves cuba's independent contractor renting for about 10 u.s. dollars a day. he is not allowed to drive tourists most of the time it is donating services to the states

visiting cuba freely for a very long. >> maybe the price go up and more tourists come in, more service and business come in. >> we don't want to see too many starbucks and mcdonalds on the corner. we would like it to be as . >> it is a historic time in havana. while there are sure to be winners and losers if the u.s. embargo is lifted, he hopes the road leads cuba to a better tomorrow. in the meantime, back in the bay area, the long discussed design for the golden gate suicide barrier has been approved. the board agreed to the design for the 20-foot nets. they will be added to the bridge to prevent dozens of suicides every year. the plans for the barrier have been in the works for decades. it is expected to cost a $75 million. these nets will be made of stainless steel and will take

three years to install them. 46 people took their own lives last year on the golden gate bridge. in the north bay, a pilot walks away from a small plane crash at the san rafael airport saturday afternoon. officials say the plane flipped over but the pilot was able to get out uninjured. no one was inside the plane when it crashed. unemployment rates around the bay area continue to tropical. san mateo counties have the lowest rates in the region. morin is at 3.9%. san mateo at 4.1%. this is down from 5% compared to this time last year. serrano county has the highest unemployment rate at four and a half % but that is the lowest it has been since 2007. the edd says last year solano's county unemployment rate was nearly 8%. much more ahead on kron 4 news weekend. first we want to take you outside for the live look. this is a look at conditions on the san mateo bridge. you can see the over cast,

another busy place today. travelers are trying to get out of town for the holidays, making it crowded. jackie is live this morning at sfo with more. jackie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, yeah, the holiday season, what does it mean? they are ramping up here at sfo. it was all lit up in christmas colors earlier this morning. they are starting to get ready to see thousands of people coming in and out of sfo over the next couple of days as they get ready for that holiday travel. here is some videos from earlier this morning inside the national terminals. it did not look too bad today. they expect to see some where between 30 and 40 minutes delay which is not unusual this

time of the year. on a normal day like today, they expect about 120, 000 people coming in and out of sfo. tomorrow, they expect about 140, 000 and on tuesday is the busiest day of the christmas holiday travel season upwards of 150, 000 people coming in and out of sfo so about a 30, 000 more people traveling. let's face it. this time of the year there are a lot of families and weather issues across the country and people could get frustrated. the thing you can do is patience. i had a chance to talk to one traveler and she has the right attitude. >> i expect a lot of family reunions and, happy, and wonderful experiences.

>> you don't find mind the holiday travels at all? >> not in the least. >> >> reporter: see that's the way you got to do it. pack your patience. i know it is an over use expression. this time of the year it is a great way to go about it. marty, we say it every year , i am going to say it one more time. don't wrap those presents, if you wrap it and try to go through security, they're going to make you unwrap it. look at this, hawaii airline getting on the plane to hawaii sounds like a great deal today. so far so good here at sfo. >> jackie, one thing before we let you go. how long will delays be at sfo today, what are they predicting? >> reporter: well, they're saying ground delays will be in effect all morning probably until midnight tonight, that's all dependant ton weather.

condition that we saw last week. afternoon highs today for the most part in the 60s. antioch 61. santa rosa topping out at 6 3. we'll see temperatures a degree warmer in to sunnyvale. we are concerned of a flooding tuesday afternoon. ocean waves over 20 feet expected and it looks like some areas are definitely prone to flooding. certainly be aware of that t. here is your 70 around the bay forecast. warmer temperatures. we'll see more sunshine. it looks like those are going to be busy as we head into the christmas holiday. we'll maintain dry conditions and see olt of sunshine. a lot of sunshine. >> the white house is busy on two front, mobilizing with cuba and dealing with the

good morning welcome back to kron 4 news weekend. let's take a look at our forecast for the first day of winter. >> good morning marty. fog certainly is a factor with visibility getting worst along the coast. half-moon bay drops down to half a mile and same for oakland. keep this in mind, look like we'll be trading off low clouds for higher clouds later on today. sunny weather as we head into tomorrow. we are moving in the direction of during the course of the trial weather as we head into the christmas holiday. we'll get a little breezy as we get into christmas day.

a fuel look at your extended forecast coming up in 15 minutes. thank you, we are learning new details about the gunman who ambushed and killed two officers and then turned the gun on himself. police commissioner says the suspect, 28-year-old is mail brinsley made is mail brinsley posted on instagram. he also wrote, quote, this maybe my final post and he has an image of a silver handgun that you see there. he also used the hash tag, "shoot the police, rest in peace, eric garner".

saturday morning in hahn park. the vick was a white or latino man in his 20s. residents in the area say they are surprised by the murder. police are looking for a man they tried to kidnap a woman. they released the sketch of the suspect. she got in the car and that's when the man put a knife to her in the backseat of her car. the suspect told her to start her car but she was able to escape. the only description of that suspect is that he's a white m his #20rs and wear ing wearing -- 56-year-old marco bron steen

is facing four counts of vehicular. she swerved around cars that were stopped at the red light and clouding into a group of pedestrians in the crosswalk. she kept on driving before colliding head on with another car. a mother and her 6-year-old son and two people who were aged 81 and 87-year-olds were killed. brons will be facing about 40 years in prison. the long discuss design for the golden gate bridge suicide barrier will be approved. they'll be added to the bridge to improve dozens -- it will take about three years to install. last year, 46 people took their lives on the golden gate bridge. still ahead on kron 4 news,

a pilot walks away from a small plane crash, it happened on saturday afternoon. officials say the plane flipped over but the pilot able to get out uninjured. marin county has the lowest rate in the region. san mateo is at 4. 1%. both of those are down from about 5% compares to last year. solano county has the highest unemployment rate right now at 6. 5%.

weather in the bay area. expect breezy or dry weather as we head into the christmas holiday. marty. >> all right, touch. thank you very much, christmas is just around the corner. san francisco has a symphony this week. joining me richard, richard, we have been talking about charlie brown and how magical it is since the '60s people have been watching the special every year and the music just seem to talk about christmas. >> absolutely, it has bonus a wonderful experience to work on this project which is a live version of the tv special sort of told through dance. yeah, we can see photos from our dress rehearsal there. we have a whole troop of actors and dancers portraying a lot of the characters and playing it live at the symphony and

narration. and it really adds this entirely new dimensions to this. >> well, it really is a bay area's product because so many principles in this have bay area's roots. >> absolutely, charles sholtz, and his family is around here. he's been chatting with me a little bit. >> oh great. >> and vince geratldi as well. it has a wonderful connection here. >> you mention the fact that you will portray the characters and the rest, the symphony is going to be playing the music and at the end of the program there is part where the audience can take part.

>> absolutely. and then at the end of the show, there is a great opportunity for the audience to sing along with the whole cast of the orchestra. >> it is so fantastic. it is so timely, it is surprising that the first time the symphony has done this program. >> absolutely, it is a brand new show. often at christmas we have done smaller and wonderful more intimate shows. we want to bring this magical and warm experience of the full orchestra on stage as part of this holiday tradition. it has been a wonderful reaction so far >> i was going to sashgs say, this might be a tradition here. >> we hope so. >> what you have coming up on new year's eve.

and that's seth mcfar land. he will be joining us for new year's eve. a lot of you may not know he's a singer. he's actually the voice of brian and steward on "family guy". and, he has a fantastic singing voice and so we are so pleased to be presenting this show with i am. we have been developing a lot of new materials with him and stuff that he's not done on stage before with live orchestra and creating a lot of experience. >> tell us a little bit about the mcfarland show and what people could expect? >> you mentioned a big band. >> you have strings and the whole nine yards, really. seth is going to be doing, you know, a great set on the second half of the show. on the first half, we have the

vallejo 62 and your high in hayward reaching 62 degrees and 64 in livermore. we have a coastal flood advisory in effect for the next couple of mornings. tuesday afternoon, we are talking about normal than the high. but, that wou case as we head boo the bend and thursday, the bigger condition is the air. >> marty. >> all right, erica, thank you very much. well, when most travelers visit japan, toke t tokyo is the first place to look at. >> and you know, it is one of those places that when a lot of people consider that trip to

find new things. when i arrived the first day, i checked in at the hyatt regency, at 3:00, i knew i could not stay in my room. i had to get out and get moving. i had three testimony ps at temples standing out. my afternoon were full. >> what else stood out for you, you were there for five days? >> the temples are a big thing. they'll see the temples themselves and learning about the religious background. the gardens are a huge thing. why you are going, may vary, every visitor is a little different. whether it is a learning architecture, the garden is simply gorgeous. obviously, it is a major city, what we are seeing here is peace full and quiet.

>> perfect example. >> then meditation settles in that you can take this and do something for everybody here. they really do a nice job of hitting a lot of visitors' interests. >> also, the fall color i understand is fantastic. >> with spring, it comes with cherry blossom. i was there a couple of weeks ago. >> grant it i was at the end of of it. but it was very nice. there were not many travelers. the other bonus is what's called the temple light up. this happens four or eight times a year. if you were in town and when this is happening, you got to see it.

during these certain days, they'll open at night and they'll light up. >> the building becomes art and the garden becomes art. they look different at night than they do during the day. they're taking hundreds of lights. the video and the picture should be told. don't do it yet. i understand you can do a little shopping there as well. shopping and eating are two things we cannot deny that's really important. the market, even if you don't like to shop, you should make a point to get to the market. it is not a tourist market. this is a market where you are going to the locals there. the focus is on food and all sorts of food from fruit and

vegetables and you will see things there that you will never see before. it stretches for about five blocks. the nice part about it, the day i happens to whine up there, the weather was not so great but it is covered. you are all set. it is a great thing to do on a rainy day. it is one of those things it is just visually beautiful. there are so many different things. some of them you will have no idea what it is. and that's okay. >> [ laughter ] >> that's part of the fun of it. that's part of the experience to go to a foreign country. you will see things there and you will go wait a minute, i know what that is. you will buy souvenirs and those types of things. most of it here is not going to be in english cht i , i should not stop you from come going. >> english is calm, it is not

we are back on kron 4 news weekend. five years after her brother was murdered, 18-year-old judith lee renee was found shot to death saturday. rescue crews tried to save her her but she died at the scene. the other victim is taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. police

are still looking for the suspect and motive. muhammad ali is in a kentucky hospital this morning with a slight case of pneumonia, that's according to a spokesperson. he has suffered from parkinson's disease. he's being treated by his hospil . still ahead, we are learning new details of the gunman who ambushed and killed two officers in new york city. we'll tell you about some of his online post, how chilly it is when we come back. first, a live look outside. erica has the forecast when we return.

be the case as we head into christmas. storm tracker four shows dry conditions here. we do have some low clouds and drizzles. viz nlt at zero for some locations. up to one and half-moon bay , you are thinking of a half a mile driving through the oakland area. these low clouds will be replaced by high clouds as we head boo the afternoon. in the low to mid-60s, we'll hold on dry conditions for the first official day of winter. take a look at how temperatures climb. we are talking about upper 60s for places like oakland and western pacific. the full details and a look at your extended forecast coming up in just a few minutes. erica, let's get back to the news this morning, we are learning new details about the

gunman who killed and ambushed the two officers. ismaaiyl brinsley made posts on instagram. he also wrote that this maybe my final post and posted that image that you see of a silver handgun. brinsley also use the hash tag, "shoot the police". >> baltimore's authorities investigating that shooting, received information that brinsley has made threatening comments about the police. they issued an alert to in ypd. president obama issued a statement while on vacation in hawaii condemning murder of the officers. he says there is

no justification for those murders. the officers risked their safety to protect the community. meantime, the family of michael brown also released a statement through their attorney condemning the shooting of police officers saying in part of any kind of violence directed towards member of law enforcement tolerated. brown was shot and killed back in august. demonstrations are grabbing the attention of sho. mall management says the malice private property and they urged demonstrators to gather at an empty lot near by instead. the protest against police violent goes on all over the country ever since

michael brown's death back in ferguson. an estimated of 2000 people attended the saturday's demonstration. the world is still talking about the massacre in afghanistan that killed 120 students. it has been going on in the streets of pakistan's capital to bring attention to the brutal murders. in the bay area, a vigil was held in san francisco on saturday for all the lives that were lost. kron 4 news jeff pierce has that story. >> the after math of the tragedy in pakistan where more than 130 children were killed. people are gathering and trying to deal with the horrific event. >> this is 120 something

children just brutally massacred. >> i could not come to terms with how somebody do something this monsterous. >> >> it is not as easy. it does not work for anyone or boston. >> just hear -- we[ indiscernible audio ] >> the one consent that these passionate pakistan americans agree that for their country to begin to solve as many problems. >> we have been caught critical thinking. this is what

happens when you have someone who thinks critically. we need more of that among the pakistan. >> this tragedy that happened in showers earlier in the week was horrific. i want it to create a space for people to reflect on what happened and how they can go and make the lives of pakistan children better and how they can go and support education efforts there. >> san francisco, jeff pierce, kron 4 news. police are looking for a man tried to kidnap a woman at uc santa cruz on thursday. the victim told police she got in the car and that's when the man put a knife to her from the backseat. the suspect told her to start her car but she was able to get sdout escaped. the only description of the suspect is that of a white man in his 20s resistanting

. temperatures are bumping into the upper 60s. breezy conditions in the foreca. >> the holiday of course, means entertaining and gathering with families and friends. we ask chef allyson from fresh and easy to share some holiday tips. >> i love this time of the year whether attending or attending a party, i love to have fun and not stressing out. i can share a few tips how you can elevate your party. this is a cheese platter that's really easy. don't unwrap the cheese and thrw it on the platter. >> it is all about presentation >> here you are going to help me out. this is goat cheese, it is really soft. what we are doing is brushing it

with a little bit of honey. it is going to give it that sweetness because goat cheese is a little bit tart. you can roll it over whatever you want. this is smoked almonds and cherries. it is going to give it crunch and sweetness. >> so am i literally just rolling it? >> yes, go ahead. do you cook at home? >> yes, i do. >> get your hands dirty. >> get involve with your meal. >> look at the difference that makes. absolutely. >> it will be like a cheese in the sky. another option on that bowl, i have four ingredients. i have olive oil and lemon and thyme. i like to heat it up in my pot and pour it over. >> that's a great idea. >> and you dress it up with fruit or meat or all kinds of stuff. >> we have the appetizers taken

care of by spending a few minutes to dress things off. the party is off to a great start. >> now, we are talking about the main course, dinner. i like to get my guests full on the cheese so i don't have to make much dinner. >> there is a method to your madness. >> you can order it by december 21st and what you will get is a box full of everything you need. >> so what we see here. >> one on tray and three side dishes here, i have green beans and bacon and you pick it up at the story and it is ready to go. >> what will this cost? >> it starts at $60 depending on what you want to choose. it is easy to go. >> you heat it up. >> this would feed about how many people? >> 6 to 8 people. the order corms with a pie. >> so you have deserts taken

care of. >> yes. >> this is my favorite part of dinner, deserts. these are wine poached pears, they're extremely easy. if you are cooking with wine, you want to get something cheap, don't take out that expensive bottle. >> here we have this and we are adding more sugar and you want to add whatever spices you have in your pantry. i have orange and cinnamon. you want to bring this to a boil and once it boils, you drop in your pears. starts outlooking like this. it is full of yummy spices and wine. >> what a great idea. >> you can dress it up with ice cream or cookies.

i brought out my fancy glasses of glasses. >> where did you get the idea to drop in the pears? >> it gets nice and tender. it is really easy. >> should you take care of this before the party starts. will it holdup? >> you can do it two days in add skrans. advance. >> the longer they simmer in the wine is better. >> the happier the party wil.
