cold compared to the last couple of mornings. we have had freeze warnings. and frost advisories in place. none of that happening today. temperatures are still chilly. 34 in santa rosa and no 20s on this map and all of us above freezing for now. >> upper 30s in san jose. and 36 in livermore and pleasanton, good morning to you. you are at 37 degrees. it is a little milder out there. and showing that. we are a few degrees warmer compared to yesterday. we are 6 degrees warmer right now compared to the 24 hours ago. and 4 degrees. milder, and novato and in oakland. >> so, we have had high pressure dominating the forecast area for the next couple of days. giving us more sunshine and also, temperatures will be a little milder and starting today through tomorrow and through the middle of your week before a system comes through and giving us some more rain.

potentially for the north bay. >> look at the future cast showing temperatures generally in the 30s and some 40s and then by 10:00. we will see widespread 40s. then temperatures will be similar to yesterday. maybe a couple of degrees warmer for some locations. we will see widespread 50s. maybe a couple of low 60s. including oakland for us today. and otherwise mid-50s in san francisco and in santa rosa. and san jose; 59. 55 in livermore. and 56 in pleasanton. and 53 degrees in concord under partly cloudy conditions. here is the kron 47-day around the bay area. warming up by tuesday and wednesday. upper 60s on wednesday. clouds increase late wednesday and thursday. slight chance for showers thursday. and still mainly in the north bay. >> marty. >> we will get to the top stories this morning. thousands of police officers are attending the funeral for

new york city city -- police officer wenjian liu. and he was killed back on december 20th. the 32-year-old officer was killed along with his partner rafael ramos. officer ramos was laid to rest last saturday. he leaves behind a wife who he married two months before his death. buddies ceremony is set to begin at 8:00 this morning. that is followed by a police memorial. a wake was held in brooklyn for detective liue and mayor bill deblast yo and captain brat ton was saluted. this action by the officers was in contrast to the hundreds of police officers who turned their backs to video screens showing the mayor speaking at last week's funeral. rafael ramos. the respect shown by the officers came after brat ton told police that "a hero's

funeral is about greeting not grievance. the san mateo sheriffs went to honor him and attend the funeral. this collage was tweeted by the san mateo sheriff's office. they paid the respects at the wake and in the september 11th memorial in new york city. and introduce comb mow attended days after his father, former governor mario cuomo passed. >> he looked tired and his eyes were red as he spoke to reporters. but the grieving governor tried to keep the focus on the slain officer. i can say i miss him already.

there is a hole in my heart that i fear will be there forever. and today is about to move. >> they were promoted to the rank of detective. >> jet blue is covering the cost of hundreds of police officering the funeral and free flights for detectives to attend the funeral for ramos. this is covering the cost of his family flying in from overseas as well. a house goes up in flames in the east bay. a christmas tree catching fire on antioch and destroying a home on san jose drive. we have more on what is left of the house and how the fire started. >> it is awful. >> toy cars. clothes. and even the front door now toast. a 15-year-old girl was home when the fire started. >> they were banking on the

door and and it went up in flames. >> is everything okay. >> i said no. the house is on fire. >> maria said the mother of the home was working in oakland and the fire start the before noon. until she was able to get back home. maria took care of the kids. >> got some socks for their feet and blankets and we gave them water and made sure they were comfortable. the contra costa fire protection district said the christmas tree caught fire despite the lights not being plugged in to the electrical outlet. >> when christmas trees are trying out, get them out the house quickly. they said the home is 80% destroyed with $150,000 in damages including some of the 9-year-old's gifts. >> my dad just got me a big remote control car and when they cleared the house and family members started going in. they found the car and truck

. we are back. earthquakes rattling southern california last night. the first was a 3.0 quake hitting 7:00 p.m. then followed by a stronger 4.2 magnitude quake just before 7:20 last night. the quake hit about r50 miles north of los angeles. they were felt across the la basin and ventura counties as well. >> no damage or injuries have been reported. we will turn our attention to the bay area weather. you will notice temperatures are still chilly and in the 0s and no 20s this morning. live look at the golden gate

bridge and right now the fog is not too bad. you can see the visibility down to 5 miles in petaluma. and six for livermore and concord. overall, the fog is not all that dense this morning. big weather story is the wind that will be kicking in. we will see a chilly morning. no freeze warnings or frost advisories for today. partly cloudy skies and cool this afternoon. then we are looking at tomorrow. morning fog and sunny and warmer. and then for wednesday. a storm approaching. and bring cloud late and maybe a little bit of showers. for a thursday. we will talk more about that in the # day forecast. you will notice rain far to the north of us. it will not be impacting the bay area. that's what we are expecting. we are seeing clouds and with the cloudy conditions and for the partly cloudy skies we will feel the warmth over the next

couple of days through the middle of the week. >> here is a look at the highs for this afternoon. very similar to yesterday. >> 55 in livermore. >> 56 in pleasant ton. and pushing close to 60 in sunnyvale and in san mateo and mid-60s in san francisco. and santa rosa and 59 in napa. >> here is the kron 4, seven-day forecast. on tuesday, mid-60s and on wednesday. and i was looking at a few spots in the south bay. and you may get to the lower 70s. that is until spring around here. again, a chance for some really light rain on thursday. maybe friday. right now, the models are bringing a slight chance of 10 to 20% over thursday and friday. mostly to the north bay and we will keep you posted and you can see by saturday. dry and temperatures in the lower 60s. marty? continuing on that theme,

the wintry weather on the east coast said the snow, ice and rain is just beginning. this is parts of new england. and roads in massachusetts are covered in snow and they are struggling to get around town. boston and surrounding areas may be getting up to 2 inches of new snow. >> icy road cause assist salt truck to crash into a home ner pittsburgh, pennsylvania. road salt trucks are supposed to help keep roads safe. authorities say the driver lost control in the freezing rain and then slid down a hill and into the home. the truck slipped over and hit the house. the home only had a little wit of damage to the living room. the homeowner and truck driver were not hurt. we are hearing more from the kentucky man who found and helped the young survivor of the plane crash that killed her family friday night. they report that many are calling the little girl's trek from the wrecked plane a

miracle. >> reporter: at home in rural kentucky, larry wilkins finished watching the news. when his dogs started barking. >> i went to the door. there is a little girl 7 years-old. crying. not bad. lip was quivering pretty good. bloody nose and arms and legs were scratched up real bad and she told me that her mom and dad was dead. >> the 7-year-old is the only survivor from a friday night plane crash. her mom, dad, sister and cousin dead after the small begin engine crashed into the woods of kentucky. the little girl survived and is incredible when considering what she had to do to get help. >> she walked three quarters of a mile through very, very rough territory. and she was bare footed. one sock on her foot. that was all and she was dressed for florida. wearing shorts and light, just

little shirt happen no coat. >> reporter: he said the 7-year-old liningly saw a light on at his house and made his way towards it. the highway patrol officer said he speaks for most when he said it is really a miracle. >> if you could see the terrain. you wouldn't realize how incredible it really was. she is a terribly brave little girl. >> well, the ntsb arrived in kentucky today to investigate the plane crash that killed four people. sailor gutzler walked miles to get help. they are from nashville, illinois. they were on their way home from florida when marty gutzler, her father and seasoned pilot reported engine problems. it is a holiday visit that turned horrified leaving the community mourning four deaths and finding ways to comfort the lone survivor. new, this morning the british coast guard is searching for eight crew

members after a cargo ship overturned off the coast of scotland. photos show that the ship was going down vertically with one end sticking out of the water. life boat crews searched for survivors until sun down. tugboat stayed on the scene to wash other ships. two search and rescue helicopters were involved in the rescue operation. nebraska health officials say they will be taking in a possible ebola patient. the patient is a healthcare worker and exposed to the virus while caring for victims in sierra lee own knee. >> -- sierra lee own -- leone. >> the same hospital cared for three american ebola patients last year. two fully recovered. one did not survive. the trial boston marathon suspect dzhokhar tsarnaev will

start tomorrow. the court said defense attorneys haven't justified their request to have the trial moved. he is pleading not guilty toe the charges -- not guilty to the charges. if he is found guilty he could get the death penalty. the defense is suggesting that he was controlled by his older brother who was killed in a police confrontation three days after the bombing. we mentioned earlier, the groundbreaking ceremony for the high-speed rail it is on tuesday. governor brown is expected to attend the invitation only event. 1200 guests are also expected to attend as well. first part of the construction project will be a 30 mile stretch from the fresno station. the controversial multi billion dollar project will run trains over 200 miles an hour from san francisco to los angeles. they hope to have the project

the loss for officer liu is across the country. 50 police agencies gathered in solid car itd with the nypd. they said the purpose was to remind people that officers risk their lives every day to protect others. this at a time when gun fire at or by police have dominated headlines. developing story for you today. this marks the eighth day of search and recovery efforts of the plane crash. they are moving the search area to the east as the ocean currents shift debris and bodies. more wreckage was described overnight. described as 10 yards long. many of the unrecovered passengers and crews are still strapped to their seats. 31 bodies have been recovered. they are hoping to find the rest of the bodies and clues to the rest of the crash. there is still no clues for

where the plane's black boxes are. they are slamming the u.s. for sanctions against the government for the recent cyber attack against sony entertainment. they accused u.s. to stir up whose i willity toward the country. he claimed the sanctions would not hurt north korea's military. on friday, president obama signed an executive order issuing the sanctions against three north korean organizations and 10 individuals. north korea continues to deny involvement in the cyber attack defense sony. back here in the bay area, a dozen dmv's opened up after a historic day in california. new law allows undocumented immigrants to apply for driver's licenses without the fear of deportation. the processing center saw crowds for second day in a row and the line was wrapped around the building before the doors open at 8:00 a.m.

turning to sports, carolina panthers have advanced the divisional round beating the arizona cardinals yesterday. 27 to 16. carolina's defense held the cardinals to 77 total yards and that is a postseason record. panthers now go on to play seattle ors green bay packers next week. >> baltimore ravens are also moving on. they dominated the pittsburgh steelers. joe flacco is throwing for two second half touchdowns to lead the ravens. final score was 30 to 17. they will play the new england patriots next saturday in the afl or the divisional round. while card weekend continues today. cincinnati bengals will take on the on the indianapolis colts. they will and cowboys will be hosting the lions later on this afternoon. we will have more at 9:00.

. in san francisco, a tribute to the late robin williams was held last night. it was in the moition district where local artists were celebrating the renowned comedian by showing portraits and other art work that depicted williams it has been in the works for quite awhile but they wanted enough time to pass out of respect for him and his family. >> this is a celebration of robin williams in all the love and fun he brought to us and love and comedy and you have to think of this as the most fun week you have ever been to. >> it took place on erie street and lasted until 2:00 in the morning. it will be donated to children's hospital in oakland. still ahead. kron four, they say -- kron 4, we have a a report standing by.
