4:03 am

4:05 am
and she wasn't carrying id. she has been booked into the jail and a preliminary investigation shows she may have jumped a fence at the southwest corner of the airport. this as -- if you have been counting is the fifth breach of security there in less than a year's time. also, happening now, police in southern california are investigating the death of andrew getty, an heir to the getty oil fortune. his death does not appear to involve foul play. the 47-year-old son of the san francisco billionaire was found dead in bathroom in his hollywood hills estate. early reports suggest he may have suffered blunt force trauma. but this morning, investigators say it appears that getty died from accidental or natural causes. we will let you know what comes out of that investigation as it develops. also, happening right now, singer song writer, johni mitchell is recovering in southern california at a hospital there. paramedics got a call she was
4:06 am

appearance later today. to the east bay now and a warning for people living in one east bay city. the newark police department says that fake check scams are becoming more and more popular. >> reporter: finding a new job isn't always easy. if someone calls offering a job, that should immediately raise a red flag. this new scam not only offers a new job, but thousands of dollars upfront for victims to deposit into their accounts. the newark police department says the phone call or e-mail offers jobs as secret shoppers with retailers like wal-mart, k- mart, best buy or home depot. victims are instructed to activate their employment by depositing those fake paychecks. they are told to keep some of the money as advanced payment. they are then advised to purchase green dot money pack cards at various locations as mystery shoppers. evaluate the retailer and then e-mail the evaluation forms along with the 14 digit code from each of those prepaid
4:08 am
cards. the thing is, once the bank realizes those paychecks are fraudulent, and they bounce, the money loaded on to the green dot card is now gone. the scammers have their paychecks, and the victims will have to repay the bank. remember, police say if it is too good to be true, it really is. alicia reid, kron 4 news. coming up on the kron 4 morning news we will tell you why one san francisco woman says her rising rent could end up leaving her with no place to go. it is this morning's my kron 4 story. and the alcatraz ferry terminal could be on the move. after the break we will tell why you some residents are not happy about one of the new proposed locations. here's a live look outside. we have our san mateo bridge camera there in the background. san jose right now 50 degrees. should warm up to 69 this afternoon. at subway, a great meal starts with a great sandwich on the new "simple 6 menu." with six of our best six-inch subs, like the tender turkey breast plus any bag of chips and a 21-ounce drink

tourists destinations in the world. people come from all parts of the planet to take the tour. the park service says that it wants to have a 50-year lease in place by this time next year. the service says that the three locations being considered all have their advantages and their disadvantages. >> we're in discussions with the port and we're moving along but we need to reach a conclusion to those discussions because we really do need to find a solid long-term home for the ferry embarcation to alcatraz. >> reporter: they presented the option to the public. the most controversial is the one at fort mason. residents and others oppose that location because of numerous reasons. traffic, unfamiliarity with the location, and ferry routes are all concerns for people who live near there. >> i think it would be devastating to have the ferry cruises move to fort mason and you presented viable alternatives to fort mason. there is no good reason to move the ferry cruise terminal to
4:13 am
alcatraz terminal to fort mason. >> reporter: the park service says the most important thing is to have a long-term facility so that they can put down roots and make the experience nicer for visitors. >> we believe if we had the opportunity to make an investment in the land site facilities, we could begin that visitors' experience to alcatraz here on the mainland and then of course carry it forward on to the island. here's a live look outside our golden gate bridge camera this morning as we take a quick break. we will be right back. currently in san francisco, any of 1 degrees. should warm up to the -- 61 degrees. should warm up to the mid 60s this afternoon. we will be right back.

sfo. clear skies like you mentioned before. not bad way to start the day but you know what with these clear skies it will help to drop down those temperatures for the next couple of hours before that sunrise comes up. here is what it looks like from our studios looking at the bay bridge. it is hard to tell that the trees are moving just a little bit in the wind but it is a breezy start across parts of the area. it is all because of high pressure in place now. that storm that can move through the -- yesterday, that didn't really give us any rain, but the cooler and windy conditions have moved off to the east but high pressure building in giving us those clear skies and we are going to see some clear skies for much of the day later on. but, the thing we are talking about will be the wind. here are the winds right now. they are light across the east bay. not bad way to start. but if you are along the coast, we have breezy winds from the northwest at 18 miles per hour. so just be prepared as -- if you are traveling along 1 this morning. that it is going to continue to stay breezy. -- it will give you a tail wind

4:48 am
a little breezy at times from the northwest. if you have any outdoor plans be prepared that it will be another breezy day. but i do have good news. it won't be as breezy tomorrow across much of the area. afternoon highs across the peninsula, mid 60s, across the north bay, upper 60s. the rest of your storm tracker seven-day forecast, we are going to continue with a warming trend starting tomorrow into thursday and friday. and then for the first half of the weekend, still dry. we have lower 70s across inland locations with some upper 60s reduce the bay. not too bad over there. but we're also talking about a chance of rain for easter sunday. and the rain chances do continue to last into early next week. so we will continue to monitor in all week long. and on our web site, www.kron4.com. if you are traveling eastbound on 580, about a mile before, we do have a traffic collision. so just take your time as you continue in that direction. we will work to get more information on that coming up at 5:00. here is what it looks like at the bay bridge. traffic in the westbound direction it is starting to pick up as we get closer to the
