are supposed to break ground on a new arena in san francisco's mission bay next year. >> catherine:now we're learning the proposed plan.is facing growing opposition. >> catherine:kron 4's charles clifford is live in san francisco's mission bay neighborhood with the the latest on what's happening. charles? >> reporter:if the warriors owners get their way the new 18,000 seat arena, seen in these artist renderings, will be built here in mission bay and completed in time for the 2018-2019 nba season. but a non-profit calling themselves the mission bay alliance has come out against the project. the group, which is apparently made up of ucsf supporters and major donors as well as representatives from the biosciences industry is worried that building a new park will create a traffic and parking nightmare. this afternoon, we spoke with the mission bay alliance's spokesperson sam singer. >> reporter:in an email today, warriors spokesperson pj johnson said the team has been caught off guard by this new opposition to the planned arena. he says "we've been working with all of our neighbors including ucsf, for nearly a year now, to address any and all concerns. the san francisco public overwhelmingly supports the bay. this really comes out of nowhere." >> reporter:the environmental impact report on the project is set to be released next month. singer says that after they review the mission bay alliance may move forward with legal action against sponsor a ballot initiative.
