the area. in berkeley, this year, display lee webb lawnplay off of-- >> in the south bay, fireworks display will be held in san jose, fireworks kicking off at 9:30 . authorities will be offering expanded service to help people get to the show. on the north baythere will be fireworks on the county fair of santa rosa. big question of course in san francisco, are we going to be able to see the fireworks as we say good to brian. >> good morning, it is a tricky forecast, it is right about the time that the low clouds are rolling in.

i am hoping that the low clouds will stay high enough that the fireworks can go up underneath the clouds. as we get in peralez mre son tant and san jose. you notice in the live shot there. we had lowclouds and boo the south bay and east bay with some gray skies to start things out. as we go throughthe day, look for clouds toe clear through about 10 a.m. this morning. as we go in the afternoon hours, sunny skies and still great conditions hanging on at the beaches and a warm day with temperatures getting up in the 90s for the inland valleys. here is howit looks for the fireworks tonight at 9:00. lowclouds in the bay towards oakland and san francisco. temperatures mid-60s. low 70s in pleasanton and san

walk the streets. >> in light of the shooting death of 32-year-old kate steinly on pier 14. many questions have been raised why the alleged shooter, francisco sanchez was on the streets. >> [ indiscernible audio ] >> certainly, there is jurisdiction jurisdictions- -when there is sere criminal, the city will not give them a heads up. sanchez has been deported four times. he wastransferred to the san francisco jail on march 26th this year on an outstanding

drug warrant. thesheriff's office says once he's determined he had no warrant, he was released from jail. this despitethe fact that i asked if he would be notified whn henne he's out of custody. law enforcement shall not detain an individual based on an individual. in2014 the sheriff made a policy saying his department will no longer honor the detainer unless the judge says there is a probable cause or there is a warrant of arrest. policies need to change to benefiteveryone. >> this is somebody that you would not twoont let want to

let out on the streets. >> the sheriff's office is pointing their fingers at ice saying that if ice wanted to detain this man, they should have got nl a federal warrant to do so. that would negated the city's ordinance in this case. presidential candidate donald trump is weighting in on the shooting. we'll show you how trump is using that shooting to renew his push for toucher immigration laws. happening right now, police are looking for two men who took a young boy hostage while robbing the store. one of them grabbed the 4-year-old boy whohappens to be in the store and threatened to shoot the boy. the men got the keys and stole somejewelry. the boy was not injured but was very upset.

happening today, san jose's native joey chestnut going for his hot dog eating contest. it is taking place in new york.

last year, chestnut ate 671 hot ate 61 hotdogs in 21 minutes. he was the record holder backin 2013. chestnut's biggest competition tomorrow ismatt stoney who finished second last year trailing by six hot dogs. ton s. stoney is also from san jose. why expert say one of the biggest concerns could be right in your backyard. we want to show you where you can catch some of the bay area's fireworks show tonight, take a look at your screen and we'll be right back.

let's go ahead and get the forecast forthis holiday week, our meteorologist, brian has that. >> sunshine is showing at the bridge already. it is still great out there to start the day today. as wego flu the morning, we'll see a lot of sunshine and warm temperatures. a lot of 80s and 90s popping up. not quite as hot as what we had earlier this week. this morning, look for the skies to clear by the bay around 10 a.m.. for the afternoon, sunny skies andwarm temperatures but still cloudy at the coast. all the way through the afternoon and for the fireworks, where is the fog going to be? well, i think it will be by the bay, san francisco, for the valley, san jose, mostly clear. here is fog trackerat 8 a.m.. there is the clouds by the bay stillhanging out in santa rosa. this should back outuntil 10 a.m.. those will not affect us for

today. through the afternoon, a lot of sun but notice the fog hanging out here at the coast all the way through the afternoon and that means by the time we get into the evening, the low clouds just ready to push back in. 9 p.m. right about the fireworkstime, we have the low clouds in san francisco and into towards hayward and now in live moore valley it r mror valleymore vally, it will be clear. south bay going into the 80s or awarm afternoon. some low 90s in the inland valleys. here is a look ahead through this afternoon. again,the sunshine 70s by the bay. tomorrow, low cloudswill be more extensive in the morning and we'll have to wait around noon to see the sunshine in san francisco. temperatures come down a few degrees.

the same is true for monday. a little bit cooler sowe have a cooling trend going through the holiday weekend here. that'll persist through the next week. look for mild temperatures by the timetuesday and wednesday rolls around with a lot of heavy fog and highs by the bay in the upper 60s and low 80s inlands. marty. brian, thank you. >> we have breaking news from the south bay this morning. that's where a man has been stabbed todeath. san jose police call to the area of north king road near alum rock avenue. officers found aman with one stabbed wounds. he later died at thehospital. they're not identifying the victim justyet. we'll continue to stay on top of the story. u.s. officials have warnings for everyone who's celebrating 4th of july today. threats from isis militants,

they say people could be at risk right in their neighborhood. cbs mary maloney has the story. >> this is the new normal across the country, increasing security as community big and small responding to a warning attack for the holiday weekend. >> isis is particularly good at the lone wolves. >> behind the threat are called armed from isis to supporters to attack where ever or however they can during the muslim month which lasts through the middle of july. the terrorist group is growing bythe week. nearly 50 people have been charged inconnection to radical is slam.

>> the scary part was i hope that my camera would not get wet. >> the water is unusually warm and maybe why the sharks are here hanging around for the past week or so. >> these currents are pushing these warm water further north so we are getting exotic expertise species near the bay than we see it in mexico. >> what's happen ng the east coast, niese sharks these sharks shown no aggression >> although they're smaller than white sharks but they're aggressive and the most dangerous in the world. >> no, we just have great white sharks like the one on his shirt.

the bay. now, for tomorrow, the fog once again starting the day, it will take longer the clear. as a result,temperatures will be cooling and we'll look at cooler weather all the way through the next seven days. readings upper 60s and low 60s as you step out the door. we have high clouds on this subtropical moistures coming up, producing some showers in the sierra this morning. it is sayingoff in the east today. it will continue to stay out here and meander and as it gets closer to us. eachand everyday, it will help deepening the amount of fog that we see. temperatures this afternoon, lookfor the 70s and low 80s for the south bay. low 90sin the warmest places in the east bay valley. lookfor upper 60s and low to

and we are back on kron 4 news weekend, a live look outside at the sfo this 4th of july morning. we are tracking the holiday flsa. we are checking forecast. we arechecking win brian. >> hi, marty, i am waiting for the fog to clear but it is taking its time. about 10:00 we'll have fogall over the place. the napa valley is completely cleared out of the low clouds. 11 a.m., it islooking fantastic. and we are beginning to see the low clouds start to lift here at the embarcadero and san francisco. and in richmond, well, still prettycloudy out there. that's going to change very soon. we'll have the clearing take place by 10 a.m. by the bay and the amp, sunshine everywhere, except for the coast. all the low clouds at the coast are going to push back in the bay as we get into towards

fireworks time for san francisco, i think it is going to be cloudy and hopefully, the fog is getting deep enough that it will lift high enough for the fireworks to go right underneath that. some yearsthe low clouds are very low and the fireworks go s go right in the clouds. north bay, and napa valley did clear out. and by 10 a.m., that's all back to the coast, look at the fog hanging on late morning and through the afternoon. if you want to go to thecoast and enjoy some beach time, well, you also enjoy some cloudy skies. there will be a few breaksof sunshine, eventually, as we get in the ianing, notice what happens to the low clouds into the bay around hayward and berkeley and oakland and getting close to livermore. i think it is going to hang up here at 9 p.m.. the fireworks are looking good

with clear skies. temperatures this afternoon, upper 60slow to mid-70s bay side. the hottest temperature in the inland valleys in the low 90s. as we go intotomorrow, look for slower clearing and maybe it will clear us through about noon so that'll mean cooler temperatures in the average. cooler still bymonday. we'll have a lot of low clouds and slow clearing and extensive fog of the morning. bymidweek and high temperatures much cooler than we have seen in the upper 60s by the bay. low 80sinland, marty. >> thank you, brian. >> the rush is on, fireworks expand around the bay area. union city is one of three cities now where legal fireworks are sold. this phantom fireworksstan had people lining up to buy on the eve of 4th of july. >> our big sale right now, our

>> i think it looks good tonight. the fog, it wantsto ruin our 4th of july, but i don't think that's going to be the case today. it will be here tonightfor the fireworks at pier 39. i think it will behigh enough that it will be above of the fireworks. notice the tower of the bridge is well below the over cast layers. that means for tonight, we'll be able to get those fireworks up underneath the bottom of the clouds. i remember a couple of 4th of julyswhen the low clouds are so low that you watch them go up and it goes right up in the clouds. not fortonight. for today, look for the low cloudsclearing about 10 a.m. and the afternoon, a lot of sunshine but the beaches, it is going to be pretty gray all the way through today. santa cruz isgetting some sunshine. as we get into half-moon bay and monterey, look for low to mid-60s and a lot of clouds

we are back on kron 4 news thi week. you are looking at a cell phone video showing a punish man fisherman hooking the shark this morning. the fisherman throw threw it back in the water. so far, ten people have been attacked off the coast of the carolinas this year. >> the carolinas are not the only place dealing with an influx of sharks. life guard are putting up warning signs. >> juvenile white sharks right aurnd my class. under my class. >> right out here is where i saw the shark. >> he shot that video on wednesday right out there north of the ship.

>> i saw a thin pop up. i started to get it onvideo and about five seconds in the video, the shark changed course and comes right at me and dives under my kayak. >> he proceeded to take a still photo of several more sharks. she describes it as juvenile graywhites. most of them are about 10 feet long. >> it is pretty naturely . gnarley. >> still, he's posting warnings and advising people not to venture out too far in the water. it isunusually warm and maybe the young white gray sharks are out here.

hannigan -- van aken. >> i think we will have low clouds but they will be high enough in the sky that the fireworks will be visible underneath the overcast layer. that is what we are seeing in san francisco. this guys are clearing as we speak. the skies are clearing as we speak. we are now looking for the clouds to go back to the ocean. it's warming up, livermore upper 60s, upper 90s today. oakland 63, upper 50 san francisco -- 50s san francisco. looking for low clouds clearing out by about 10 am. it will be cloudy at the coast with highs in the low to mid 60s. inland galleys -- valleys up to

the 80s. this is our activities. marin county fair will be clear as well as the alameda county fair. we will have the low clouds by the bay in san francisco and a temperature of 60 degrees. will talk more about the forecast coming up. for many people fireworks will be a big highlight of the fourth of july celebrations. charles clifford takes a look at where you can see some of the biggest fireworks shows.>> reporter: just off. 39 we will have fireworks launched. there were a pair of incidences this weekend so there should be a strong police presence. alameda county fair will have fireworks around 9:00 this evening near pleasanton. there will be fireworks at 9 pm

big news that we have been following all week long, the man accused of murdering a pleasanton woman along the embarcadero was recently released from prison. this was a random act of violence. says his girlfriend has -- francisco sanchez was free to walk the streets in spite of his long rap. >> many questions have been raised into why the alleged shooter francisco sanchez was on the streets. i spoke to julie myers would do was head of the agency from 2006 until 2008. >> we have the official policy that they will not cooperate [ indiscernible - intermittent audio ] there are jurisdictions that have varying levels of cooperation. for practical purposes, when they are serious criminal, even if they know they are there the

city will not give them a heads up.>> reporter: sanchez has been deported five times. federal immigration officials transferred into the san francisco county jail on march 26 of this year on an outstanding drug warrant. on march 27 this case was dismissed. the sheriff's office is once they determined that he had no warrant and had completed his federal time he was released from jail. this despite the fact that i ce asked to be notified -- ice asked to be notified. a city ordinance prevented. this was passed by the board of supervisors in 2013, if signed off by the member -- it was signed off by the mirror -- meir. they shall not be detained after an individual becomes eligible for release from custody. in 2014 the sheriff made a policy citing his department

the fireworks except some fog pushing into san francisco. i think it will be cloudy at. 39. the ceiling -- pier 39. the ceiling of the clouds we high enough that i think it will completely interfere with the fireworks. the fog bank will redevelop in the late afternoon and push into the bay so by 9:00 berkeley, oakland, san francisco and into alameda and even towards a santa rosa. it will be clear elsewhere. highs in the upper 60 san francisco, 70s bayshore, 80s south bay, low 90s inland. here is the forecast for the next seven days. we are going to see more foggy weather and temperatures will drop, only in the low 80s inland valleys by the middle of

next week, upper 60s by the bay. fireworks shows set to light up the night skies across the entire bay area, those loud booms can often be terrifying for pets. joining us this morning with advice for pet owners who -- is the training associate for the san francisco spca. thank you for joining us. is this? >> this is elsie, a seven-month- old. she is friendly.>> tell us a little bit about what the fourth of july means for pets like elsie.>> certain pets are fearful of certain environments, especially loud noises such as what goes on on the fourth of july, especially fireworks. as far as recognizing the fearful behavior in your dog, some things you can consider is the dog's body language.

sometimes the dog can be pacing or lip licking, trying to escape. >> if we look at elsie's body language, what are you seeing?>> she is curious.>> she is not frightened? >> not at all. she is fairly loose, comfortable sitting on my lap. she is neutral.>> the first thing is recognizing the fearful behavior which you have gone over. one thing that a lot of people do is they head out to the fireworks show and they may be out all day not taking their pets and leaving the pets at home and all of a sudden the loud booms occur and there is no one there to help them be comforted.>> the first thing you want to do is, i suggest not taking your dog to the fireworks show. keep your dog secure in the home. that your best bet. make sure that your dog has proper tags attached to the

caller. -- collar. if they are not microchips already, i would definitely do that. for the dog is secured in a comfortable place with toys and things provided for him. >> she is mesmerized. [ laughter ] you want to make her as comfortable as possible. in that case, you also want to have toys and things like that which she can understand is comfort. she enjoys it. >> somethings we recommend, as far as dogs that are fearful of noises, you can play music for the dog, classical music. >> leave the music going on in the home? peanut yes. that we can ask some of the noises -- >> yes. that way you can mask some of the noises. if a dog is scared of certain noises i would recommend a super high value reward such as

new for you this morning, it still needs to be finalized but diplomats working with iran say there is a tentative agreement as part of the nuclear deal. these sanctions have been one of the toughest issues to iron out for both sides. they have been trying to move forward on the deal since november 2013. negotiators are pushing to wrap up the agreement before the deadline on tuesday. a helicopter crashed killing the pilot in colorado. two other medical workers where -- were on board and they survived. look at the massive plume of smoke. it happen on friday near frisco, colorado. firefighters swarmed the area trying to put out the flames. witnesses say to helicopter

started spiraling out of control and exploded. investigators are looking into what led to the crash. police in the philippines have filed multiple charges against a ferry boat owner and crew after the ferry capsized. on thursday it killed 59 people on board. 145 others survived including all 18 crew members. the boat is called the mv nirvana. and it capsized after leaving port. a marine investigation is underway to determine how many people were actually on board the ship when it collapsed. san mateo county is back open to the public at least for now. the land has been caught up in a legal battle over public assess. the secluded beach was bought by a developer four years ago who closed off public access. a judge ordered them to reopen the beach after losing a lawsuit. the lawsuit was brought by people that believed the [ null ] -- beach should be open to the public. still ahead, get

it will be sunny. that's the case everywhere with the exception of the beaches which may clear out a little bit later on today. santa cruz is looking at sunshine in the afternoon, a high of 77. nice area at the boardwalk, half moon bay in pacifica a little cool. upper 50s to the low 60s at ocean beach. we have a little bit of sunshine , the clouds will redevelop as we get into this evening and it looks like they are going to push in over the south of san francisco. with the cost -- the cost of electricity is going up in california. a new residential rate has been approved. it increases rates on more efficient rates where big energy users will see a break. it's the first overall in 15 years. said those consumer advocates have tried unsuccessfully to pass a plan that would provide

more awards for people who conserve energy. as a result the majority of residents will have dirtier air and higher bills. the changes will be phased in over the next several years and will begin showing up on your bill next year. happening right now, warnings of a potential attack this fourth of july weekend, unzip -- unprecedented security measures in place. hundreds of thousands of people will be in washington dc to mark independence day. we have our media partners cnn with the story.>> reporter: raised security across the nation. checkpoints for those watching the fireworks with more than 18,000 feet the fencing in place to protect the national mall. special patrols at washington landmarks and a heavy police presence in unseen ways and also seeing ways.

far this year. the carolinas are not the only place dealing with an influx of sharks. great white sharks keep showing up in the waters near santa cruz. lifeguards are putting up warning signs of at the cliff state beach for the holiday weekend. we were there and have the story of one man and his close encounter.>> a juvenile white shark. this is where i saw the shark.>> marine biologist and sark enthusiast shot this video -- shark enthusiastic shot this video on wednesday.>> i saw a thin pop up -- fin pop up right next to the ship. i started the video. about 10 seconds into the video the shark came right after me.>> he proceeded to take still photos of several more sharks. these were juvenile great

whites most of them 2 feet long. he saw -- showed me a job on any is worried. >> the scariest part for me was i was hoping that the camera wouldn't get wet because salt water and technology don't mix.>> don't venture too far out into the water. this is unusually warm, the water. that may be why the great lakes -- great white sharks are here. >> we are getting a lot more exotic species because of the warm water in the monterey bay. we usually see it in southern california.>> please sharks -- the sharks have been spotted as close as 20 feet from the shore but so far have shown no aggression. the culprits on the east coast were bull sharks. they can be smaller than great white sharks but they are more

oakland, berkeley. i think they will be high enough that the fireworks will still be underneath the ceiling of the clouds. marin county fair should be clear, also the alameda county fair and for san jose. it should be upper 60s and low 70s. off to the east a few showers are taking place. subtropical moisture coming up from mexico continues its days to the east of the bay area. a big weather system in the pacific will slowly make its way closer to us over the next several days. it's taking its time. each day we will see progressively cooler temperatures, upper 60 today, 70s close to the bay, low 80 s. bay, low 90s east bay valley. looking ahead for the rest of the week, flawed -- file will be clearing between 10:00 and 11:00 this morning. temperatures tomorrow will get cooler.
