this is actually a list of the earthquakes. there is the 4.0. you can see the list of after shocks. the 2.7 was the strongest after shock felt. so they are making on the list this morning. in terms of who felt it, the shake map. you can see. that is the epi center. the color gets thinner and bright er and lighter. it was felt in portions of the

>> breaking news. a 4.0 earthquake. kron fletch er following the er quake. >> i want to emphasize the 4.0 was felt but a good number of after shocks weren't. the you were jostled out of bed, that's what it was. >> the wider view, just want to point out exactly -- let's switch over to the maps and show you where the epicenter was. a 4.0. you can see there were nine in total after shocks. the vast majority of those weren't felt. they were down in the 1.5,1.6. the largest was a 2.7. we are going to talk more about this throughout the morning. there has been no reports of damage or injury. we put out a call to bart, so far we have not heard back from

them. looks like they are not on alert with this. we're going to keep monitoring for you. if you did feel it, describe it to us. we will share that as part of our continuing coverage of this cluster of earthquakes that happened out near fremont. we are at the weather wall. some moisture in the area. maybe a pop up shower but it is going to be well to our south. we're talking about the very southern edge of the barras you head down to santa cruz. you will see there is no activity. we are looking for today to be cooler by about four to eight degrees as the ocean breeze begins to kick in. you can see widespread cloud

coverage. they wonts pull back much by noon. as we head into the 4:00 this afternoon we will get some clearing finally. but again because of all the cloud activity not going to get near as hot as we did yesterday. that is going to be welcome relief to a lot of folk whose were dealing with hot sticky conditions yesterday. today will be a different story amount live look at the godden gate bridge where the sea breeze is entering the bay and cooling everybody off this morning. temperatures in the upper 50s in san francisco. 62 in san jose. so very cool by comparison. that is the story right now. here is where we will be come later on this afternoon. expect conditions to warm up. temperatures a good 10 degrees cooler than they were for the east bay. 81 to 82-degree there is. this terms of the long term forecast looking for mild

conditions to round out the week. not bad. well, he said earthquake. let's check in for more on the shaking there. >> it was no joke. i was up at the time. you and i were texting. we had just finished texting. all of a sudden my house started to rattle. this was not a rolling one that we saw back in napa back in august. this felt like a rattle, a shake. it lasted about 15 to 20 seconds. the scary part i thought it was going to pick up speed. you could hear it was very loud. i didn't hear any car alarms go off on the roadway. on the roadway those cars didn't go all. inside my alarms were going all. i was scared and getting dressed. fortunately nothing tell from

feeling. it there are almost 4500 responses reporting feeling that quake. other big news a man in the hospital after police open fire on him. he is accused of chasing his roommates while he was armed with a knife. this happened just before 7:00 last night a home near pisaro drive. two women called police saying they were being chase bid their male roommate and they were being chased with a knife. >> i was sitting this my room. i heard three bangs. i thought it was fireworks. a few minutes later i heard cars speeding down the treatment i saw a bunch of cop cars on the corner anna fire engine. and i looked at my neighbor. called him up.

he said somebody had been stabbed or actually there guy pulled out a knife. i guess he was coming toward the police officers. and they ended up shooting him. >> we have also learned that two officers opened fire. the big story we have been firing, learning more about the man suspected of killing his mother, exgirl friend with and three children in modesto over the weekend. victims range in ages of 6 months old to 57 years old. martin martinez is also accused of killing a 2-year-old boy last year. >> reporter: shocking, suspect in this case martin martinez. news conference monday, modesto police confirmed the two adults killed were martinez mother and

his one time girlfriend amman crews. >> in october of 2014 mr. martinez was listed as a potential suspect in a crime report involving the death of a two year old christopher ripley. christopher sustained head injuries while mr. martinez was watching him alone. >> reporter: it took nine months to determine two year old ripley's death was not an accident but a homicide. police did not go and immediately get an arrest warrant for martinez. >> absolutely not the modesto police department did not drop the ball on this.

when it comes to homicide investigateses, you only have one shot to make your case there. is much more involved in criminal investigations. we put together a case. there has to be enough probable cause to arrest that individual. so no, the police department did not drop the ball. >> reporter: still quite a coincidence that on thursday forensics determine that death of that child was a murder. police don't believe the two are related. they say they don't have a motive for saturday's killing. >> the friends and family gather tonight to remember the victims of the home glide a. >> reporter: tragedy struck this family not once but twice.

amanda crews lost her son last year possibly at the hands of her boyfriend candles and photos. loved ones gather a loving mother her two daughters six- year-old elizabeth and six months old rachel. >> our con solation is she is with all her kids. >> the family's any says amanda always made time for one on one interaction with each of her children amount few weeks ago amanda had a rough couple of days over the death of her son christopher. rachel's father martin martinez who is accused is also the main suspect in christopher's homicide. >> i don't want to mention his name. >> the doctor was loved by her patients. colleagues remember her as a

>> another big story we're following disturbing new details about mark muller. a man accused in a dublin home invasion. that case was dismissed as a hoax. court documents indicate the case in dublin was real. >> reporter: we have your daughter. those chilling words allegedly said by matthew muller. he allegedly entered the home's master bedroom and confronted the sleeping victims just before 3:30 a.m. on june -- told the couple to turnover. lay face down on their beds and put their hands behind their backs. according to court records a flashlight was pointed at the

times. this seems like a thrill motivated kind of crime. i am sure investigators aren't confident they have completed this investigation. >> muller pleaded not guilty. former san francisco police officer is found guilty of accepting bribes in exchange of giving taxy drivers a passing grade. he was in charge of administering and grading the police department's taxy cab exams which are required to get a permit. evidence shows between 2009 and 2007, he accepted bribes. the police officer is a 36 year veteran of the sfpd. the battle over public access to a bay area beach has been in and out of court a public meeting was held last

here is the look at the intensity map. the epicenter, the star are areas where people called in. most of the was the light to weak nature. that's what these callers indicate. you can see how far it was felt. way up in the north at santa rosa. as far as south as santa cruz and down toward monte ray. it was fairly wide felt. the intensity was on the low to weak side. there you have it this morning. all right. on to bay area weather. quick look. relatively calm conditions. clouds are back into play this morning. temperatures on the cooler side. ocean breeze bringing it down. 59degrees in san francisco. 63 in san jose. yesterday we had low 70s. also going to be seeing a nice

i got a two story home, boy did it shake the house. it was almost, you know for a second i got up and went outside the front door. i go was that a big rig that drove through neighborhood. i was looking around. for a sicked went online, didn't see anything until about five or six minutes. then it started updating. i didn't feel those little after shakes. i felt the big 4.0, 4 dot 1 that hit. had a photo that came off the wall. it broke. picked up the glass. i got a couple of animals in the house. that was a wake up call to get that home hayward. it is earthquake country. >> the worst spart that one or two seconds where you don't know if it is going to stop or get worse. >> well, yeah. those i mean when you looked

we continue to follow breaking news a 4.0 earthquake in fremont. here is the map as you is see most of the small dots were had the range of 1 to 2. this all along the hayward fault which does creep about a third of an inch a year and every once in a while slips. it was about five miles deep in a very populated area. it felt strong to a lot of people in the area. location, location, location with earthquakes. no reports of any major damage or injuries obviously a 4.0. as we get more information we will check in with you and give you updates. a lot of people feeling it this

morning. over 4 ,000 responses in over 200 zip codes. at 2:41 this morning waking a lot of people up. a 30 minute delay on bart. first of its kind, a fine on central farmers in the central valley amount 1 and a half million dollar fine. the district is accused of diverting water from a pumping plant even after farmers were warned there was not enough legally available. they have had claims to water that are more and century old. happening today we should learn more about bart's planned train service shut down. officials from at least public

our breaking news a 4.0 earthquake hitting in fremont. happened at 2:41 this morning. there have been several after shocks, most of them light. two noteworthy. kron4 james fletcher. >> he felt house shake, he says. we will be chatting with him

throughout the morning. this is the shake map. gives us a good gauge of how many people anaphorrer how far away the epicenter the shaking was reported. that represents fremont. the colors that raid eight out indicate how strongly it was felt. right there at the epicenter it was described as weak shaking. weak to light. that is the general sense of all those people reporting in this morning. there have been a little over 4, 500 people reporting to the gs this morning. so that is the story with the shaking. we will continue to follow this for you throughout the morning and keep updating you on the after shock. there is the main quake and 11 after shock. most report manager the 1 point range.

right now. we are learning more about the man police believe killed his daughter and others. police say 30-year-old martin martinez is also the prime suspect in the murder of another child last year. he was arrested in connection with the killing rather than the family mastiff cheer. -- massacre. at a news conference yesterday, the police confirmed the two adults we were kill eds were his mother and one time girlfriend, amanda cruz. a daughter of martinez as well as a daughter and 5-year-old who was a distance relative of cruz. the police arrested him in the killing of 2-year-old son last year. christopher riply died of head

juries in 2014 while martinez was looking after him. it took nine months to determine that the death was not a accident, but a homicide. they didn't get an arrest warrant for martinez until saturday, after the five were killed. a memorial was held outside of the home where the loved ones were killed. they shared their memories of 38-year-old amanda cruz and the two children. friends and family say she was a devoted doctor dedicated to caring for low income patients and a doting mother. >> our consolation is that she is with all of her kids. >> just a wonderful teacher, a role model for all f us. >> the family's nanny said she always made time for her kids even while dealing with the

month. i was up texting with you throughout the morning and i knew it was close to me and it turns out it was centered in fremont at about 2:40. my place was shaking. this one felt like somebody grabbed the house and started to shake it and it lasts for about 10-15 seconds and we ran out here. we were the first to get out here at this location. they were working, they had people stocking the shelves. they were concerned about the wall of soda, but that did not go down. so many people working stocking the shelves, but importantly, they were not -- fortunately, they were not injured. a couple of cans of beans fell down, but the others stayed on the shelves. one guy we spoke with told us

believe. a little bit of shaking going on this morning and i didn't even feel it in the north bay. most of the country, obviously in the fremont area, but not many felt it. >> there were people calling into santa rosa saying they felt it. i have a shake map which lays out not only how far it it is out, but also the intensity. people reporting it was light and weak, but the colors on this map show that most people categorize the light shaking in their enabled, but they -- neighborhood, but they did feel it. with the after shocks, nobody really felt them except for the 2.7 this afternoon. as far as moterey, and everywhere around the immediate bay, folks felt it to varying degrees. i will tell you there was one more after shock. we have had the main shake and
