it starts at 4:00 a.m. and new this morning the terrorist stop by three americans on a european train was being monoer tord by authorities in three different concerns. the shooter has been identified. he was tackled by students and two military members all with ties to the sacramento area. the man was subdued. they are now saying he had ties to radical islam and may have recently traveled to syria. u.s. air minnesota was injured when he tried to help subdue the gunman. he has injuries to his head and neck. for the first time this morning we are hearing from stone's brother who says that his family could not be more proud. >> pride is not an accurate enough word to describe it. he sums it means to be a warrior. he should not be alive at all and he saved every single person's life this that train including the man who was shot

in the neck. he was able to plug the wound and stopped him from bleeding to death before they could get him medical help. >> stone was released from the hospital yesterday. according to his brother, he will be getting an wayrd from the french government. president obama called them to commend them and congratulate them on their courage and quick action. happening today, there will be memorial service for 8-year- old mahdi middleton last month you may recall her body was found inside a trash can after she was strangled and stabbed. a 15-year-old has been arrested for her murder. today's memorial is at 3:00 p.m. firefighters are battling another fire. it started at 5:30. it has burned 400 acres

79 in sunnyvale under sunny conditions. when i come back we'll take a look at your forecast and i'm also tracking tropical storm danny, we'll let you know where that's going to be coming up a little bait later. back to you. we have breaking news that we need to tell you about this morning. a man and a child have been shot in the eastbay, we first told you about the shooting involving these two victims last night at 11:00. since then, we've learned that the victims are a girl and an adult male. they are in stable condition right now at the hospital this morning and their name has not been released yet. the shooting happened just after 10:00 last night near 77th and garfield avenue in oakland. police are still looking for the shooter. we'll continue to follow the story throughout the morning and also post updates on kron4 weekend as well as kron4.com. tomorrow is the big anniversary of the last year's nappa earth quake. here is a look at some of the damage to downtown nappa. the 6.0 earth quake caused millions of dollars in damage,

hundreds of homes were left uninhabited, one woman was killed after being hit in the head by a falling television. hundreds of others were also injured in the aftermath and now, let's turn our sights to a live look at a church that was also damaged in last years quake. you can see the scaffolding still surrounds the building we will have special coverage of the earthquake anniversary all day long tomorrow. kron 4 mark dannon will be live from nap a all starting tomorrow at 4:00 a.m. and new this morning, the terrorists stopped by three americans on a european train was being monitored by authorities in three different countries. the sheet has been identified. he was tackled by a student and two members of the military, all with ties to the sacramento area. this is video during the attack as the man was subdued french officials say he had ties to radical is almost and may have recently traveled to syria.

brothers in the eastbay turns deadly. kron 4 has the latest on the investigation from fairfield. >> reporter: two lives lost, both brothers. siblings at odds for quite some time police say, culmonating next door to this woman that ends in a deadly double shooting. >> can't imagine it getting so bad. you could always wish you could do something to help. we didn't really talk to our neighbors very much so we didn't really know what was going on. >> the brothers aunt telling kron 4 the men were 29 and 31 years old. fairfield police lieutenant says that the two often argued in this home on beachham court. things reached a head late friday night when one brother pulled a gun out and shot the other before turning the gun on himself. he says a third brother upstairs heard the gun shots, ran downstairs and discovered the bodies. >> we don't really see the police here ever, so that was very shocking especially that time of night they came to knock on our door, it was very scary.

we're getting an update right now on the new wildfire burning in lake county this morning. a fire has been reduced now to 200-acres. calfire originally said it covered 400-acres. it's now 17% contained the fire started at 5:30 saturday evening off peterson lane and adobe creek near indicationerville. right now, there are no evacuations in place and no homes are in danger. the cause of the fire is under investigation. the tesla fire has torched around 2700-acres and it is now 95% contained. crews at this point are

happy sunday. here is a live look at the walnut creek camera and we are starting off with cloudy conditions for our inland spots again this morning so we're seeing clouds pretty much all across the bay area wherever you're at. livermore good morning to you at 64 right now under cloudy skies and then temperatures are warming up to a nice 79 at lunch time, 85 by 2:00 p.m. and we'll reach our afternoon high of 86 at around 3:00-4:00 p.m. and the winds pick up a little bit but a nice breeze, west southwesterly winds 10-15 miles per hour so morning clouds this morning cool for some spots, mild in others mainly 70s and tomorrow morning clouds once again for your morning a little warmer and then we continue with that modest warm up into the week ahead. wind speeds right now they're a little stronger in fairfield coming in from the west at 20 miles per hour, but still under 10 for concordant oakland and also for half moon bay. we'll see the winds get a little stronger in the afternoon hours. right now it's low 60s in san francisco, san jose, mid to

upper 50s in antioch. by 10:00 we'll see clearing inland first and then the clouds continue to clear out through the morning hours into the early afternoon and the coast is the one exception. no surprise there. partly to mostly cloudy conditions for the coast but for the rest of the bay area plenty of sunshine in store for us and then by later tonight we'll see the clouds and fog develop once again but it may not be as thick for inland spots. 73 in oakland today, low 70s in hayward, upper 70s in freemont, very pleasant, little warmer for our inland locations compared to the shore but temperatures are going to be very nice. 82 in walnut creek, mid 70s in orinda and mid 80s in livermore. oakland a's taking on the tampa bay rays this afternoon, 105 the first pitch, very mild and pleasant don't forget sunglasses and sun screen. the next three days look like this upper 80s tomorrow, warm up continues through tuesday but no extreme weather is expected for the next several days.

more details on storm tracker 4 seven day, i'm also tracking tropical storm andy as well. back to you. well, if you're looking to get out of town without spending too much precious vacation time on a plane you might want to head to seattle, put that on your list of possibilities. summer has a beautiful reputation up there and it might be a perfect time to make a visit up there. we've got travel enthusiast dana with me. what's the best thing about seattle from your perspective? >> that's a hard one. that's asking a lot. seattle is a great great city. in many respects you could draw a lot of comparison to the san francisco bay area. they've got a lot of big name attractions but that said those big name attractions have a way of wanting you to come back and back over again. perfect example pike's place market. you and i were talking about that. it's hard to find something not to love about it and it has a great history, it goes back to the early 1900s and really

developed to cut out the middle man so to speak and different day vendors come in so you can go on any given day and see different things. there's some certain things that are always going to be there, you'll always fine great food, fresh produce, fresh fish. there's a lot of things to love about it but you can watch it go through seasonal changes which is fun as a traveler too at the height of summer you'll have tons of fresh flowers in the fall, you might see more-- >> those flowers are most beautiful i've ever seen. >> it has a fragrance just a fun place to wander. seattle as a whole is a fun place to wander but the market in particular, you can spend hours, if you are a coffee buf, starbucks. >> i am. >> the oldest starbucks is there and that's on a lot of people's must see list type of thing. be ready for a crowd because you certainly won't be the only one lining up. there will be a lot of people kind of hanging out to get their cup of tea or coffee.

>> it's a good experience. >> exactly. it's an experience in its own. there's a blend there you can buy that you can't buy anywhere else. it's just one of those things but again, it's a place that you can wake up and go to breakfast every morning and see something different. >> where else? okay you have to talk about the space needle. >> okay. everybody knows the view. everybody knows the view, you may have never gone up to the top though. you've seen it, certainly what it looks like but you may have never gone up. >> i don't think that in all my travels i've actually ever been up. >> okay so another thing to add to the list. >> well okay, so 520 feet up it's very smooth though. >> yeah, but you still have to look down. >> you still have to look down. if it's not your thing that's fine. you can enjoy views like this from afar. >> i want to take my daughters just to say to suck it up. >> maybe you'll go next door, have you ever been there? >> no, i have not. >> garden and glass is

literally next door. it's a famous glass artist, and he does exhibitions all over the place and he's invited but this is kind of his permanent place. >> wow it's beautiful. >> what more can you say? there's a lot of indoor exhibits, eight indoor galleries to be specific, but then what happens is eventually as you kind of,. >> wow. >> exactly as you wander and make your way through, you'll wind up. >> how do they do that? >> exactly and you'll just kind of stand there and go wow, and the colors are just gorgeous. it's not overly crowded. they do a really nice job. you get to the point where you can go outside. this is the glass house. that's about 100 feet. you can't feel it and if you stand in the right place and look up you get this view of the space needle. >> as dynamic as the day progresses different lighting, different perspective. >> absolutely and it the type of place if you have a time you

could easily spend time wandering. there's a nice cafe area in the garden where you can sit and take it all-in. the outdoor exhibit as well they work in conjunction with the blooming flowers so you've got all sorts of great possibilities and it just a nice place to have a relaxing visit if that makes sense and this whole area is great because you can wander from that location and go in so many different directions if you're traveling with kids for example, you'll want to head toward the art it's at play playground and one of the best playgrounds-- >> oh, my gosh, ever. >> exactly. >> i have teenagers and they were thrilled. >> they have slides? >> there's slides, monkey bars, it essentially sits right next to the enp museum which is a pop culture museum. tons of stuff to do, constantly people moving around. this is where you'll go to the area if you'll want to hop on the monorail to take a quick

two new york state police officers being shot. the officers were responding to a reported carjacking last night. authorities say that one officer spotted a man matching the description of the car jacker and called for back up. after the second officer arrived the suspect opened fire on the two officers. they fired back killing the suspect. both officers are expected to be okay. the man housing rosie o'donnell's missing daughter has been arrested. the 25-year-old is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and distribution of obscenity to a minor. police found inappropriate texts between the two over the last several weeks. 17 year old chelsea o'donnell ran away from home nearly two weeks ago and she was found in his home earlier this week. police say that she went to his home voluntarily. sheerer could face up to five years in prison for each charge if convicted. and now, a live look

to look for marty in that shot. good morning everyone. a live look at sfo. we do have cloudy skies out there and that is the reason why we do have delays at sfo for arriving flights averaging around 40 minutes low visibility and oakland, san jose you're looking fine at this hour and you should be for the morning hours. san jose good morning to you at 62 right now, 77 by lunch time so a nice warm up and then we'll only see low 80s for the afternoon so warm but please about by 2:00 this afternoon, northwesterly breeze expected 5- 10 miles per hour so right now generally we're looking at 60s all across-the-board including santa rosa at 61, so it is a little milder for our north bay communities this morning. our futurecast shows us by 10:00 we'll see generally 60s, 70s indicated by the green and yellow respect everly. by lunch time we'll see more 70s maybe a couple low 80s for our warmest locations but we'll see temperatures warming up to

just yesterday afternoon. they had permission to get a ride. the 55 year old victim was one of two people riding on the tank when the accident happened. >> as far as what happened he was sitting on the edge and coming over a hill and somehow so under investigation he fell off the edge. >> his i dent it has not been released yet. happening today, there will be a memorial service for the body found inside a trash can after she was strangled and stabbed to death. a 15 year old has been arrested for her murder. today's memorial will be held at 3:00. and they are being called the bonnie and clyde of target and now they hit stores in petaluma. here you can see a picture of

the suspects. the man and the woman purchased $15,000 worth of target gift cards using stolen credit cards friday afternoon. officials say the duo walked in and the man was wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans and the woman, a white sweatshirt. the two suspects are believed to be driving a black suv. this driver in the blue car is backing up into an intersection in redwood city wherein east palo alto police officers just happen to be standing so the driver gets waived over so they can have a chat and what an interesting chat this will turn out to be. >> this is an intersection okay? you can not back up in the middle of the intersection because of the on coming traffic. that's going to hit you. right? that's on coming traffic from that way. >> the officer asked for her information and then i tried to talk to her.

orphan deer are being sent to a fawn rescue area near sacramento. a frightening scene at an airshow in the united kingdom where a mill tear it fighter jet comes crashing down killing seven people on the ground. here is video from yesterday afternoon. you can see the hawker hunter jet performing a flying loop, just before it started to nose dive. but the pilot lost control hitting several vehicle on a busy road and crashed. along with the seven killed one person had life threatening injuries and more than a dozen people were hurt. the pilot was pulled from the wreckage and at last check was in critical condition. today's airshow has been cancelled. and the hyperloop what we've been talking about first sounded like science fiction, but now it's getting closer to becoming a reality. the tesla space ceo has announced that he is is planning negotiations to test the two blind transport system next year. the ceo released plans two

years ago. the hyperloop project reduced travel time between season francisco and los angeles by moving passengers at speeds of more than 700 miles an hour. the trip would last just 30 minutes. he hoped he will have the project up and running by 2018. and still ahead on kron 4 news weekend edition, congestion issues on a bay area bridge have state lawmakers and community leaders demanding some action. the proposal they hope will come to fruition. and a bay area charity needs your help this summer. why organizers say now is the type to volunteer and give back. and here is is a live look outside at our camera in walnut creek. annie will have your full forecast in a couple minutes. stay tuned.

needs help. kron 4 jeff bush talked to organizers who say volunteering is a very rewarding way to give back to the community. >> reporter: st. anthony's makes its headlines around christmas and thanksgiving and other notable holidays but summertime is when the charity is most in need. the warm weather and vacation plans usually means a drop in volunteer numbers and it has become a real problem lately. >> for st. anthony's we're serving 365 days a year and serving close to 3000 meals each of those days so while many folks think of st. anthony's november and december and we love that this is really a year around effort. >> they need volunteers to serve food and cook food and distribute and organize clothes to the needy. it not hard work, important and it helps people who need help the most. >> i think what we need the most is volunteers come in and give so much more than they give.

welcome back. time now 8:45. good morning everyone. we're going to track tropical storm danny because right now it's still tropical storm. there's puerto rico, domonican republic and cuba so here is a look at the track that danny is expected to take. it's going to be heading farther west by monday morning, still a tropical storm and then becomes tropical depression that will weaken a little bit as it approaches puerto rico and the domonican republic as a tropical depression and we do have tropical storm watches now posted for puerto rico already. looks like by tuesday morning still a depression and it could be impacting cuba. so we're still watching danny and it could probably bring heavy rains and floods through those areas we just mentioned. and the bay area right now we're looking at mild conditions, low 60s all across the bay area except for antioch now at 56 degrees. our wind speeds looking at fairly light winds coming in

though at 20 for fairfield, near our breezy spot but the winds will pick up for the afternoon so we'll watch that onshore flow. here is a look at our highs for the peninsula locking at low 70s in san bruno to 80s in redwood city. 67 our high for friends in pacifica and south bay communities nice warming up to upper 70s in sunnyvail, low 80s in san jose, but grab a layer and we'll cool down for the evening hours. here is your storm tracker for seven day, around the bay forecast a modest warm up, starts tomorrow and into your tuesday, and wednesday low 90s expected for our inland spots. it is back-to-school for a lot of kids so i'd say layer up because it will start off cool and cloudy for the morning hours but warming up quite nicely and i think we'll see more cloud cover by friday and saturday. theresa? well there is a new legislative effort to free up an extra lane on the richmond

bridge and anyone who drives that area knows that traffic is super super bad. now cal trans says they already plan to reopen the third lane but seems to not be going as fast as a lot of people would like including of course state assemblyperson mark levine. what would you like to see happen out there? and i know that you've been working on this. >> in the evening, you'll see a back up of miles on 101. >> brutal. >> just trying to get on the bridge on the eastbound commute getting home. now the bridge was originally designed for three lanes was open with three lanes and it was taken away back in the 70s when during a drout they put a pipe across that lane but after the earthquake they repped the third lane. now we're trying to see if we can open that lane again and we've seen that traffic across the bridge has gone up about 13 million cars a year and we need traffic relief, we need to get people home and relieve that commute that's having people sit idle in their cars, spewing out exhaust in their environment not spending

quality time with their families. >> i always feel horrible if i'm commuting in the other fashion going from the north bay and i can see in the mornings the back up is just profound and then i feel awful as people are trying to get home to their families and trying to get home and i know a lot of people work in marin trying to get back to the eastbay and it's awful sitting in that traffic forever. >> it certainly impacts people. we also want to learn from government mistakes in the past and i believe that cal trans can reopen this lane because they've done it before and they can do it in a very quick way that is ineach pensive with resigning and restriping that will build confidence in cal trans actually getting these types of infrastructure projects correct. >> now to play devils advocate i've seen them out there and they are working and they're trying to do something out there and so forth but i know they are working to open up that third lane. they've said that it's important to keep that lane available to pull off to the side. >> yeah, absolutely so if you look at how that third lane is

used now, there is a barricade on that third lane and there's equipment that is stored there for painting the bridge but if you look at the golden gate bridge which is constantly repainted you don't see equipment taking up space in a lane so it's not the highest and best use of the third lane, to use it essentially as a storage closet for the construction of mini projects when that lane could be used for traffic, my fix is a temporary fix. while they plan for the long term permanent fix for that third lane, they at first said they could do it in three years. i introduced a bill ab157 to speed that up bias much as 12- 18 months they've adopted that bill so they sigh that now they can go it by 2017 but that's still too long for the relief people want in traffic today and so i believe that they should be able to open this bridge by the fall and that's my challenge to them. let's show commuters that we can actually get these projects done in a timely manner and not waste a lot of money.

>> what about your research? what does the research show as far as you were saying 13,000 or 13% increase in over the year. what are the back ups? what have you heard as far as back ups? >> so we are at a point where we've got more traffic crossing that bridge than in the past five years about 13 million commuters a year and every month that number is getting higher and higher and of course as the economy is getting stronger, more people are going to be traveling back and forth across that bridge, so if we look at that traffic demand, we also want to make sure that people are able to utilize the infrastructure that we have and so we talk a lot in the state legislature and all of our communities about how we need to reinvest in infrastructure to make sure we can move people and goods, services in california to make sure people can get to their jobs and earn a living and this is something that can show that cal trans can get the job done, make lives better for people and utilize the existing infrastructure we have as

compared to say the $6.5 billion debacle that is the bay bridge, which has perhaps hundreds of millions of dollars of construction defects that unfortuntely cal trans paid bonuses to those construction companies for and we'll never get that money back. >> okay i have to step in because we don't have cal trans here so moving aside from the bay bridge because we could talk a long time about that exactly what is the next step for the richmond bridge? >> so this is a point where cal trans can on its own say yes we will open this bridge by october. i have a bill in the extraordinary session that governor brown has called that will actually require cal trans to open this bridge by september 30 so this bill will go through the legislative process. >> 2015. >> okay and that is the challenge we have. we can actually get this job done. >> okay as a reporter we'll have to follow this up. thank you very much. well let's take a live look outside at san francisco international airport right now. if you have a plane, well we're
