east bay. westbound 80 and highway 4 there's an accident here. cars and debris in all lanes at one point. looks like they are in the process of getting that cleaned up this morning but that may slow you down just a little bit. westbound 80 at highway 4 most of this accident has been pushed to the right hand shoulder. quick check of the bridges very light traffic conditions here on interstate 80 heading westbound into downtown san francisco this morning. san mateo bridge looking quiet no fog being reported on 92 and the golden gate bridge looking really quiet as well. just a few cars heading southbound on 101 this morning. last but not least looking quiet at this hour on interstate 580. back to you. >> thank you annie. back to more breaking news just coming into the news room this morning getting word of a fire at an apartment complex. that fire broke out at 2:30 a.m.

on sunset avenue. it's unclear how many apartments are effected by all of this but we have jackie and avery headed to the scene and hopefully we'll get that in the next half hour to 45 minutes. the other big news following this morning five students sickened at school and sent to the hospital. two others taken home by their parents all of this after teachers and staff noticed the students were acting strangely. the school district appears the students injested anti anxiety drugs, zanex. kron4 has the latest. >> the second the west school district a teacher and staff saw a group of students looking a bit worn down at lunch time. >> they called the ambulance and principal and security guards and came and got them. >> they recount when one of the five hospitalized students was

tended to by paramedics. >> they were checking vitals and a bunch of police outside the classroom. >> school district spokesperson says it didn't take long for police to determine the students had injested zanex their ages not released. an anti anxiety prescription medication one of the listed side effects hallucinations. the school district says all seven students will most likely be suspended and possibly expelled. the student witnessed by classmates being checked out described as aloof. >> he looked lost. >> the adults did what they were supposed to do in the situation. >> the school district will be reaching out to parents asking they describe the dangers of drugs. >> happening now police are looking for the man who stabbed three grocery store employees

in pittsburgh at around 8:00 last night. we have a picture of the man police are looking for. take a look good. he stole shaving raisers from the shelf and was confronted by five employees. a fight broke out and three employees were stabbed. the suspect is still on the loose this morning. the three employees are expected to make full recoveries. the man suspected of trying to lure 15 different school girls has been identified. since july there have been 11 reports of girls walking to and from school. the 29-year-old has been identified as the owner of the sedan described by victims. he's not under arrest but the district attorney is reviewing possible charges of annoying children under the age of 18. he has admitted to asking those girls if they needed a ride. police are looking for more

possible victims. big news we are following if you are getting ready to head out the door this morning the metropolitan commission says the morning commute is starting earlier and earlier as drivers compete for lower tolls and parking spots too. they are competing for seats on trains and kron4 jeff bush takes a look at all of it. >> the traffic load on bay area bridges has gone up about 20% compared to last year. those numbers were taken between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. the mtc says that more people on the road earlier and a lot of people trying to get ahead of the rush. but the rush is starting earlier than it was this time last year. >> it aamazing across the board all seven of the state owned toll privileges had significant increases in traffic this year compared to 2014 but the bay bridge between 4 and 5:00 a.m. is at half capacity about 50% full between 4 and 5:00 a.m.

>> the toll is $4 between 5:00 a.m. and jumps to $6 from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. the commission says the simple fact is that there are just more people living in the bay area but the number of parking spaces remained the same. people are leaving home earlier so that they can get a parking space in san francisco. bart riders say they have seen an increased competition for parking spaces at the station and competition for seats on the trains. commute has gotten worse. it seems there has been a big increase in the amount of people getting onto the bart station from the east bay primarily in the earlier trains which is surprising. >> it's cut throat. if you can get a parking space you lucked out. >> that was jeff bush reporting for us this morning. more on that story as well a little bit later on. >> coming up on the kron4 morning news at 11 hours on capitol hill we'll tell you what if anything was learned

friday expected. mid to upper 50s at this hour and by lunch time in the 70s a nice mild lunch hour and low 80s our high today getting to that between 3 and 4:00 p.m. this afternoon with a northwesterly breeze at around 5 to 10 miles per hour. visibility looks pretty good especially in the north bay. around this time we did have dense fog in napa but this morning looking good at half moon bay around the coast two mile visibility. a lot of us in the 50s and 60s the exception of santa rosa cool spot at 47 degrees. upper 50s san francisco 55 san jose and mid 50s livermore so high pressure still in control. we are going to see lots of sunshine for the next couple of days. temperatures remaining on the mild to warm side but this system here we see the clouds and moisture. there's a slight chance to bring us showers on sunday in the north bay and the bigger chance over the middle of the week with wide spread rain.

we talk about that later. future cast showing us temperatures warming up to a nice afternoon. lunch time a lot of 00s across the bay area and between 3 and 4 our temperatures will peak we'll see a lot of 70s and 80s across the bay. so here's how it breaks down. low 80s in, 84 in pleasanton, 81 in ledwood city along the peninsula, low 70s in daily city and the north bay looking at lower 80s. here's a look at your next three days. temperatures remain warm inland through tomorrow for saturday great pumpkin picking weather with the kids. on sunday we are looking at a slight chance for a shower generally in the north bay so no need to cancel your out door plans just yet. looks like it doesn't look too bad. temperatures fairly mild low 80s on sunday inland and mid 70s for the bay shoreline. let's do a quick check on

traffic friday morning. drive times hercules to berkeley drive on interstate 80 will take you 15 minutes with no slowing since traffic is so light out there. concord on highway 4 will take you 15 minutes this morning so no slow downs here as well. and the concord on the creek ride on 212 will take you 88 minutes this morning and your last but not least walnut creek to dublin ride on 680 will take you 16 minutes so it's a great time to leave the house with light traffic conditions all across the bay area are with no major hot spots to report. back to you. >> thank you annie. three burglars broke into a home and shot a man happening on green parkway and san jose. catagenel has the story. >> this is my house and my family and that's all i could think about. >> just a few hours after a

car and took off. inside the mom took two purses and a wallet but they left blood behind from when they broke in the window. dna evidence could lead to an arrest. she's happy her son is okay. >> i'm lucky and thankful. >> a san jose police officer who posted comments on social media is no longer on the job. last year officer phillip white posted comments directed that other posts criticizing police. in one post he said he would kill anti police protestors who threatened his family. they confirmed he is no longer with the department but would not say if he was fired or resigned. u.s. and mexican law enforcement officials have discovered a complex cross border tunnel linking houses near san diego and tee womanna. it stretched 2600 feet which is

one of the longest ever built under the border. it had a ventilation and lighting system but the entrance was a bit unusual. >> this particular tunnel drops down 35 feet straight down and then you are able to access the tunnel. this tunnel unlike other tunnels does not have that staircase or ladders and we believe they were using a pully system of some sort to bring the drugs up from the tunnel. >> they seized $6 million in marijuana when they discovered that tunnel on wednesday. the u.s. attorney said this was the 0th large scale drug tunnel found in the san diego area since 2006. two people robbed and elderly couple in a neighborhood about six meals away from fresno. they might have struck again if a woman with a rifle didn't scare them off around 8:30 a.m. wednesday. marilyn williams was sleeping and woke up to commotion outside her front yard. saw a police helicopter above

and two men in hoodies and ban danas. she got her rifle and returned to the window and started yelling at the men to get off her lawn. little did she know she just scared off a pair of armed crooks. they just broke into a home and held two elderly people at gunpoint. >> i was looking around and had it in my head the first guy i saw had jumped over the fence. the other person had taken off. i kept yelled i'm going to shoot you and i was saying because i heard my husband saying shoot him, shoot him. >> wow, the crooks ended up leaving behind a pillow case full of jewelry a gun and a mask which ties them to other home innovations. in that case the elderly couple was shaken up but they are going to be fine. the crooks managed to get away but police are still looking for them. instead of being a presidential candidate she had to act in her former capacity

but yosemite national park could see above average as well. the park does have a history of dramatic flooding and earlier this week he was in the park service to ask if they are preparing differently for a wet winter. >> this was the yosemite valley back in january of 1977. warm heavy rain combined with rapidly melting snow pack flooding extremes and the river. thousands of visitors were stranded for days until the water receded. it was the worst flooding in history of the national park. in the after math the national park service made extensive changes. >> since 1997 the park has moved away from the river to mitigate flood impacts and also to work with t river plan that the park is in the process of implementing. >> even though there's a high likelihood that the large el nino in the pacific ocean will send heavy rains into california this winter the repeat of the 1997 food is

unlikely. >> we get reverend rains this year the different between that and 197 is that we had the huge snow pack in the higher elevations in 1997. we don't have that now so warmer weather with heavier rains the river has more capacity to handle that water. >> the park service is hoping for a deep snow pack to help relieve drought conditions and keep the extremes rivers and water falls flowing through next summer. >> we would love to see snow in higher elevations and here in the park but glad to have the rain as well. >> that was charles clifford reporting for us this morning. the national weather service says that yosemite has a roughly 40 to 50% chance of seeing above average rain this coming winter. let's hope it happens. it would be nice to see those water falls flowing again. and jr stone sits down with livey shaft. it's an interview you'll see only on kron4.

a lot of folks thinking about the weekend. so what is the outlook. >> did you guys carve your pumpkins yesterday? >> my daughter will get hers this weekend and we'll do that. >> this may be a good weekend for that it will be a little drizzly. here's a look at the bay bridge. and we're looking at partly cloudy skies out there. and we're not seeing a lot of fog. and the temperatures are looking really nice. a cool 60 at this hour. and we'll hit this between 3 and 4:00 p.m.

and the temperatures cooling down and fairly mild and we're talking upper 60s at 8:00. so it will be a nice night to be out there using the patio and the bbq. the temperatures will be comfortable t is a lot better this morning. and we have dense fog yesterday. but this morning, we're looking at 10-mile visibility. and the temperatures a lot of 50s on the map and 55 in san jose. and we're talking low 50s in fairfield, 47 in santa rosa. so you're the cool spot. and we'll see lots of sunshine today and the same deal for saturday, almost a repeat of today. and we're tracking a system off the coast and to the north. and that could bring us a little more from the coast.
