breaking news. at least six people are dead in texas after severe flooding. the latest victim, and elderly woman. her body was found after she was swept away from her home in the austin area. the storm has moved on from texas. that, causing problems in louisiana. the good news about all this is the severity of these storms, it has started to

a teacher wrestled a student to the ground. reporter adrienne moore spoke to students. >>reporter: a bad day made worse when david fritz was caught in handcuffs after cellphone video captured him tackling a student in english class. >> the student was acting up in class and the teacher told him to sit down. he didn't pay attention. he sat down and the teacher started yelling at him. we couldn't understand his words. he was slurring his words. >>reporter: students ran to get a resource officer and the 58 girl teacher was taken into custody. >> it blew my mind. i said, are you serious? i thought it was a rumor. >>reporter: they described the twenty-year educator as tough, but eccentric. a teacher who always invited a healthy dialogue.

two teenage girls are dead and another in the hospital this morning after crash on franklin canyon road near martinez. video from the scene is into the kron4 newsroom. the crash happened just before 3:00 this morning. a mangled wreck and police believe that all three people appeared to be high school aged, 16 or 17-year- old girls. the driver survived but was seriously hurt. >> the driver was not able to

negotiate the turn and went off the road and struck a tree. we talked to her and she said she fell asleep on the last thing she remembered was being at 60 miles per hour. no breaking, the car came off the road and hit a tree. unfortunately, two of the passengers have been pronounced deceased at the scene. officials do not think alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. the victims have not been identified and we are working together more details on this horrific crash and we will stay on top of the story on kron4 newsweek and. our attention is now turn to the weather. we are continuing to track rain headed to the bay area and some great clouds from the embarcadero shot. >> that is the game plan. you can get your activities done early today and even into the afternoon. it takes a while to get its act

go into the water and swim from alcatraz. you can see them checking in. everyone is gearing up for the swim, getting ready to go from alcatraz island to the city sure for a good cause to raise money for the support of a foundation called that man may see. it supports vision sciences through you see san francisco. some of the people will have visionary disabilities and suffer from diseases that take away their vision. the creator of the swim is suffering from a disease that is slowly taking her vision. take a listen. >> i did not want to be kicked in the face by 3000 people. i am losing my eyesight to degenerative, progressive, inherited eye disease and i thought if i'm going to swim from alcatraz, i might as well turn it into a platform to eliminate blindness worldwide. >>reporter: i said there were swimmers that are completely

blind but i'm told there will be kayakers to assist throughout the swim. i'm going to get on a boat ride and go out to alcatraz with the swimmers so we can see them dive i in. we are getting ready to do that at about 8:00. these swimmers are getting ready to leave and we will be there to show you everything that is happening. >> that young swimmer is so inspirational on how she is doing this and what a great story that is. >> it is. >>reporter: she is losing her vision. she has no peripheral vision and has 10% of her site left and she is doing this so that doctors can raise money and find cures for these diseases. that is avery harper live from aquatic park in san francisco. the last gun shop and san francisco closed its doors on saturday.

it make san francisco the first major city in the entire country where customers can no longer buy guns a local retail stores. kron4's jeff peers witness the quiet into history. >>reporter: saturday was the final day of business for the last gun shop in san francisco. highbridge arms admitted customers into the shop and for them, it was a day of regret. one did not have to be a gun owner to feel a sense of loss. >> i've lived here for 30 years and never minded having a gun store here. i always supported gun rights and it is the end of an era. i am not a gun owner. >> those manning the store declined to let our cameras inside but had a crew recording the closing. the 60-year-old shops closing came on the heels of proposed legislation by the board of supervisors calling for the videotaping of all transactions. >> a video of someone buying a

milk, fruit, cultures. mmmm, yoplait. we are back on kron4 news weekend and have a new look sumer confessed -- new consumer excess recalled a handy case. it lets you interact with your phone or tablet in a unique way. the startup company just behind this wrapped up the crowdfunding campaign and raised almost double of the goal. there's a lot of those about this product. are reporter gabe slate got his hands on one to give you a sneak peek. >>reporter: i am in the east bay at a startup called hands capen they invented the handy case. you will hear a lot about this device in a couple of months when it hits the market. it is very intriguing and changes the way we interact with our phone or tablet. here's a sneak peek.

>> it looks like a regular tablet case. when you snap in a tablet it offers the first of its kind, the case that allows as the user to tap, touch and swiped the do back -- the back of the device. it extends the touch screen to the back of a phone or tablet. as you get used with it has a transparent feature that lets you see virtual versions of your fingers. you can turn it off so you don't see your fingers or change your fingers into robot fingers. the handy case comes in a smaller version for smartphones. same thing, but for phones. what is the point? we all hold our devices and touch and swiped them with one finger or maybe two thumbs. the handy case tries to take advantage of these other digits and open up a world of opportunity for app developers to design apps that take advantage of the extra control the handy case user has. you can imagine this could enhance gameplaying on the
