widespread heavy rain. we have nothing but yellow and orange which indicates moderate to heavy rain. you can see san francisco, oakland, union city, both sides of the bay under intense a rain as you drive on the roads or step out your door this morning. we are tracking heavy rain on the bridge and here is what it looks like from foster city towards hayward. you can see the coloring on the map with that orange and red. that will be a wet ride for you. in the south bay picking up some spots of moderate rain. portions of burbank south and west of san jose otherwise, light rain from santa clara.

look at east day, you have got training can -- you have got changing conditions here. that situation on interstate 680 as you head towards walnut creek there is heavy rain on that portion of 680. across the north bay san jose is beginning to lighten up a little bit. he will need to bundle the kids up and pack a raincoat because we will looking at shower activity to the 8:00 hour. by noon nothing much changes. we will still be tracking light showers around the bay. by 3:00 it will be partly cloudy but we will have the chance of a thunderstorm so make sure the kids keep the umbrella handy.

hit by three vehicles. he died at the scene. the drivers involved state at the scene and police say they were all sober. russian investigators in egypt after an airplane clashed over the weekend. we are learning the russian jet broke up in mid air. it was flying to st. petersburg russia. police trying to figure out what caused the flight to suddenly drop off of radar. the crash happened in a remote region that is plagued by violent islamic insurgency. yesterday families gathered at the airport waiting for the remains of their loved ones. rushes media outlet says there pilot reported technical problems.

police looking for three women who used a baseball bat to rob a woman in san francisco. it happened yesterday morning. three women approached the victim, they started yelling at her then one of them swung a baseball bat at first hitting her several times, while the others grabbed her belongings and drove away. the victim has bruises on her face and several cuts. the robbers were seen getting away in two different vehicles. after thousands of tell students flooded this secretes you can see the damage left behind on the campus. police arresting three people as the crowd got out of hand. witnesses say the situation turned dangerous when people started fighting and police said there were several reports of guns and knives involved.

where we are seeing the rain at its most intense. san francisco, the east bay shore like to oakland, berkeley, union city we are seeing light to moderate rain and heavy too. you can see these areas of orange. that impacts of the bay bridge. also seeing it along the san mateo bridge. on either end you have got moderate to heavy rain falling right now. you can see the showers in found -- you can see the set sulfate it is hit or miss. san jose, burbank, you are dealing with light to moderate rain. sunnyvale starting to get a little bit of a break but there is more wet weather on the way.

580 is backed up. take a look at hour alternate, highway four is jammed up in the westbound direction and that is not a great alternate but the best of the available choices. we continue to be jammed up on 880 northbound even though hour accident no longer blocks a lane of traffic. bigger delays now for the ride on that southbound part of the highway. for the westbound bay bridge your ride is not completely backed up into the maze but it is over 29 minutes no out of the bay. let's get to check on weather now. how long is this crane going to be with us? >> well, for most of the morning. after the 10:00 hour it looks like it will pick up some. we still have a chance of a shower all

day. as for right now it is steady and widespread. you can see it is in tension spots. let's zoom in. san francisco, the entire half of the peninsula is under heavy rain right now and the same could be said for east bay. the entire picture just about covered in yellow and orange. this is what we are seeing right now and more moisture is coming their way. the san mateo bridge is under heavy rain right now. not so bad for the dunbar bridge. you have a pocket of moderate rain near sunnyvale. let's head to the east bay where they have been dealing with heavy rain especially out near dublin, and livermore. you can also see in the valley that

hotspot is right here and you can see they are getting dumped on at the moment. let's head to dublin, danville, that entire stretch now seeing heavy rain with just a few pockets of relief. but, all of this heavy rain is heading in your direction. enjoy it for now because things will change quick. in the north they it has been the same. you can see dark orange that indicates activity that is on the higher side and that impacts your entire ride on interstate 37. that is what we are seeing right now. what does it mean for you? if you have kids going for school you need an umbrella all the way up until 8:00 this morning and even through noon.

loaded, and according to the chp reports, it's loaded with chickens. so that has to be dead with. when that's done, they can work on rioting it. but until then, miles of delays. i'm going to ask jackie to pan to the left. a lot of people like to use the old altamont pass road as an alternate when 580 backs up, but look at it. it is completely jammed as well. it is not likely to save you much time here. the other alternate route we've been sending people to is to highway 4. let's switch back to the traffic maps. the highway 4 ride is also heavy this morning. in the westbound direction to concord. now concord into walnut creek. nimitz freeway, northbound, 808 jammed from the calcium, into downtown -- coliseum, into downtown. another a 44 minute drive time for marin county south to the

golden gate bridge. because of the accident at north san pedro road. back up here, is now over 35 minutes, coming out of the macarthur maze. so things are slow as the back up gips to fill in across the lanes, 92 in the san mateo bridge, slow enough that 24 minutes for the trip time heads west, and east bay ride to the richmond bridge is backed up with over 20 minute trip time into san rafael, and the golden gate bridge, it's slow across the span here, southbound. let's head to the weather center, here's james with your update. george, thank you. let's start off with storm tracker 4, getting into the meat of the forecast which is the rain. coming down hard in spots. again, the peninsula, san francisco south towards the san mateo bridge underneath moderate to heavy rain, you can see the

areas in red beginning to show up with rain intensifying here. south san francisco at sfo, and down to burlingame across the bay on the oakland side. it does stretch from richmond down through oakland, and down to, around fremont with med rat to heavy -- moderate to heavy rain in spots. you see how the color changes from yellow to orange periodically along 880. we're dealing with heavy rain there. in the south bay, it hasn't been terrible as of yet. things were on the lighter side. another shot of foster city, and hayward, both end of the san mateo bridge. you can see that ride is wet. but south bay, mostly light rain throws the entire santa clara valley. this has been the story with the south bay for most of the morning. the east bay seeing heavy rain, particularly out near dublin and through walnut creek, so that stretch of 680. raindrops on your windows, on windshield. this is the live view out of

sfo. as we look at the late at the rainfall totals in the last 24 hours, we've actually seen a pretty decent uptick. we're at san jose, .67, mountain view, and clayton, coming in at .7. livermore, getting awfully close to an inch. had a lot of rain come down there. so a pretty substantial storm, and it's not done yet. we'll expect this rain to fall throughout the morning, and turn into a scattered shower with a possible thunderstorm through the afternoon. right now, we're at low to mid-50s, generally around the bay, warming to the upper 60s for the inland valleys. milder temperatures closer to the water. low 60s by the bay shoreline, and the peninsula coastline. here's your quick look at the 7-day, wrap up the weather with that. this is just a one-day event. tuesday and beyond, we dry out, keeping it cool though, inland highs hovering in the low 70s. it is certainly going to feel
