bay area jail. here is what we know. it happened in the martinez detention facility. the contra costa facility said the inmate was not moving. we don't know yet the cause of the keith. recently, there is treatment over the -- there is concern over the treatment of prisoners. >> an investigation determined the prisoner was beaten. three santa clara deputies were charged with murder in that case. then in september, another inmate was found dead in his cell. no foul play is expected in that case. >> just two months ago or last month, two former sonoma county jail inmates filed lawsuits against the deputies. they claim they beat more than 20 inmates. >> we are following the latest out of merced and they held a vigil. they are carrying candles. very somber event.

on wednesday, a student stabbed four people before he was shot and killed by campus police officers. all of the victims expected to survive. this is the attacker. >> he went to high school in santa clara. and this is a yearbook picture of him. muhammed had a manifesto with him at the time which expressed anger of being kicked out of a school study group. >> . it is devastating to be in the lawsuit and to be there. this father with a child with autism has a lawsuit against them. neighbors allege the 11-year-old boy is a public nuisance who hurts other children. they shared this with justine waldman and this is taking away time for him caring for his

child. >> reporter: swimming is one of the therapies they gave their son with ought tim. their life is dedicated to providing him with what they call the gold standard of care. >> we have always been very supportive and very supportive and careful parents. it is unimagable that we are -- unimagine inable that we are in a lawsuit like this. >> they were living there for seven years. former neighbors served them with the lawsuit claiming their son attacked others and his behavior disrupted the community. they wanted him declared a public nuisance. >> people there had suddenly become antagonistic toward our family and child. we felt very betrayed about that. it claims he hit, kicked and slapped children on the quiet

cul de sac. >> they told them that people there did not feel safe. >> a lot of kids were scared because of things that happened. >> this case is really about very minor incidents that are greatly exaggerated. it really lacks any merit. >> they leaf hair home because of all the tension and would move back if the case gets dismissed. the family's attorneys worry it could set a poor precedent that is the fear with lawsuits like this. it stigmatizes individuals with autism and creates this paranoia and fear that could be very, very dangerous and trying to make strides for him and for ak tans -- acceptance. they are seeking a specific amount of money for the harm they caused their families. it will go to a judicial settlement conference next month. the hope? it gets settled before it heads
