right now on kron 4 news weekend, we are tracking a storm. we are taking a live look outside san francisco, golden gate bridge from the marin headlands, there is rain and wind and the bay area heading south and west -- make it south and east. i want to show exactly where that rain is, let's take a look at storm tracker 4 radar to give you a better view, will get to that in just a second. we can tell you the rain is moving into the northbay, good morning, i'm marty gonzalez. we have complete coverage for you on the storm this morning. kron4's averi harper is

standing by, but first let's go to dave and the weather center. >> at morning. rain coming from the north, moving to the south and into the southeast, through the bay area, when we are talking to all this morning, we have been tracking it inch by inch, right now, quick live shot, another perspective to give you, this is obviously of the bay area. it does not seem to a parent with the wind, but they're out there and enforced, remember when you're over bridges, your overwater. there's nothing to stop the wind at all. storm tracker 4 marty was referring to come here it is, heavier rain to the north, this is where the line of the front will be as it degrees users through the bay community. right now you can see well into sonoma county, again, give it time to develop to the south. have had a train of rain as you have heard and you can see from the pictures we are showing and the wind, here's the wider perspective to show you, it's a northwest right now, starting

to fill up with rain over the bay area, a strong dribble or light rain that is working for most of the paper right now. and wind speeds, we have it wind advisory covering most of the bay area, that will be with us until 10:00. a look at what these readings are, well in the business of the teens as you can see, this is going to be around all day and into tonight, perhaps some spots tomorrow morning. will show you all that coming up. right now, heavy rain going on, windy, temperatures around 50 or so, very mild. we are in a bit of a wedge here, that is the wedge of the mild air until cooler air filters in, outlined by the front. by noon we will call that heavy rain to the south of that point, in the south bay, showers up to the north, 54 will do it for the bay and the coast, 52 going on inland. and then by about 4:00 into the afternoon, we get some sunshine going on today, those winds will be with us, and scattered showers all taken to me through the night, 57 happening at the coast, 60 at the bay. we are going to put this

together for you, timing of the rain and wind, but you know how the day is. it's not a complete washout but be aware of some things. >> thanks a lot. we want to continue with our coverage, kron4's averi harper reporting live from crissy field. how are you doing? >> reporter: i'm keeping up, holding up out here, there is no rain out here at crissy field right now, it was raining not too long ago when i got here, the wind is blowing pretty hard, i'm sure you can see my hair blonde, but that does not do the wind justice. it sounded like it was howling a few moments ago, there were a couple of wind measures out here, and it's blowing pretty hard, but it's not keeping people from being out here on crissy field, you might have seen a runner just pass by me. there have been quite a few of them out here, regardless of the rain and wind, i am surrounded by puddles. and i'm about 5'9", i could lay

28 games last night. new this morning, the three- day underwater search for information linked to the san bernardino shooters is over. fbi divers were trying to find a computer hard drive linked to the shooters that killed 14 people. investigators say the killers trying to cover their tracks by destroying emails, cell phones and other items at their home. they began searching the small lake in san bernardino thursday after they received a tip that the shooters, syed farook, and tashfeen malik, had been in the area on the day of the attack. investigators found some items during the search, but the fbi refused to comment on whether those items were related to the investigation. still ahead for you on kron 4 news weekend, donald trump's presidential bid takes a hit. he now faces his largest skepticism in the latest poll,

for your money, let's take a look at stories that might affect your bottom line. more than 1 million bottles of sweet leaf ice-t are being recalled because there might be broken glass. they are recalling 16 flavors and 16 ounce bottles. recalled flavors include original, raspberry, green tea with citrus, peach, mint and honey. they were distributed between february 27 and december 6 of this year. if you buy one of these, return it to the store for a full weekend -- refund. ups is getting slammed with holiday deliveries, the on-time delivery rates for ground packages fell 6% last week compared to the same time next year. fedex numbers also lower than usual according to analysis by shipping software developer. an increase in online sales that started just after thanksgiving is likely fueling

see on storm tracker 4 on the left side of your screen. you can see the flag blowing in the upper right, tells us we have a wind gust and we can see rain on the pavement on the richmond bridge, lower right, all of us telling us that the storm is arriving. it's going to be a strong one but will move out quickly. >> yeah, the rain part will but the winds will be with us all day. if you're on the bridges, remember your above the water and there is no resistance coming off the wind, in high profile vehicles particularly, it will be challenging your drive effort. there it is on the radar, sonoma and napa counties, quite active. that's the future, you can see aligned to marin county, outlining basically where the frontal system is. causing any problems beyond that, here is sfo real quick, low-lying clouds, we have winds, big surprise as you know. as a result there's a bit of a delay going on, coming in out of sfo, 87 minutes because of low visibility.

if you are flying out there, yes, there are effects from it at sfo. the other two airports not so much, oakland and san jose have the green light for now. check with flights to see if there are problems with that activity. okay, future cast, with the rain, going on today, by 9:00 a.m., there it is, right across, looks like it's crossing over the golden gate, that is where the heavier rain remains to the north. until the noon hour, 10:00 a.m., rather, heavier rain in parts of the east bay getting down to san jose at that point. looks like some clearing trying to work in across wine country already got 10:00 a.m., you can see by noon, it's further to the south and breaks up considerably. i want to note, there you can see the return of more showers over where the rain past. post frontal, we will still get showers we should make note of. all of this will continue with the wind. we may get breaks in the clouds to help out of the bit after the system moves through in the morning hours, but basically most people will be affected by heavy rain pre-noon.

afternoon, yes, you will get breaks in the action the plan on scattered showers all day, until 5:00 or 6:00, when the evening sunsets, it's already in the evening hours. guess, it clears out during the overnight, a couple of stray showers are still in the works here. tomorrow morning, that ray not coming together but we probably will have morning fog because of the surface moisture. here are the winds that i spoke of, lower 20s in spots, therefore, that wind advisory has been posted for everybody involved in all of this, some of the valleys may be shielded from some of that, you can see to the north bay and off to the east bay just a touch. what happens with those winds, they pretty much aligned the frontal boundary, there they go. 20s for the early estimations, peninsula to the north bay, 27, san rafael by 9:00 a.m. this morning, however that is an hourly estimation. wind speeds will exceed that well beyond. by this point, it is well since gone at 1:00 p.m. but breezy conditions continue through the day, into the

been almost a year since a 21- year-old man was gunned down on his driveway in san leandro. a tragic case of mistaken identity, police say the joel ramirez was not the intended target. kron 4 spoke with his family at a candlelight memorial. his loved ones are hoping that someone out there can help solve this cold case. >> reporter: a hard-working college student who aspire to solve crimes as a police detective nearly a year has passed, and joel ramirez's murder remains unsolved. a cold case that has not been cracked, leaving bloodlines aching for justice. >> it made a big impact on the family, and it has been very hard. >> reporter: so hard that his aunt and godmother says ramirez's mother and grandfather have since moved out of the in law apartment they rented on kenilworth avenue, living near the driveway were joel was shot to death, too much to bear. >> she could not stay any longer and my father had to

relocate as well. >> reporter: just days before the anniversary of the murder, a gathering near the scene of the crime, a memorial to remember who family describes as a good man. a guy who loved to ride his bike and share a good laugh. >> is every parent's worst nightmare to have something like this happen and for no reason. it just seems like we need to start respecting people more. >> that person is out there and that person knows who they are. >> reporter: police say joel was shot to death in his driveway not long after coming home last december. investigators say it was a case of mistaken identity early this year, and a $25,000 reward was offered to help solve the case, they're hoping someone comes forward with new information. >> hopefully he can see us from kevin, see the hand -- candles and now that we are thinking about him and i know he's probably here somewhere right now. >> my promise to you is that we will do what we can to bring this person to justice.

>> reporter: in san leandro, philippe djegal, kron 4 news. happening now, a $1 million warrant was issued for the rest of a man connected to a brutal stabbing in the south bay. police say that jeff mcdonald stabbed woman many times near gilroy tuesday morning. he pushed his way into the woman's home, demanding to see his estranged wife, just before he stabbed the victim. allegedly. she remains in the hospital with serious injuries, investigators say that he is no stranger to crime, he is a known gang member and has ties to sacramento, modesto and the east bay. police say they hope to track him down before he hurts someone else. i'm at a bay area airport that is displaying an exclusive image, wait until you see what they are showing off. it is in a public area, anyone can come and check it out, that's next. we continue to track the rain heading into the bay area on storm tracker 4, will have continuing updates for you on

good morning, everybody. we are back on kron 4 news weekend. we are tracking this storm. >> nice shot of the north bay. >> yeah, a lot of rain in the north bay right now and pockets of yellow is heavier rain as well. let's take a live look on the side, on the left you can see the shot from the marin headlands, in the middle, richmond bridge, headlights on, droplets on the lens. on the right you can see the golden gate bridge, wet pavement as well, telling us the storm has arrived. >> low-lying clouds and all of that business going on, a very stormy start to your sunday. it won't be that way all day today, but certainly you want to plan anything with a.m. as part of your day, that's where the storming is will be. wind is hanging around in the afternoon as well. we have been tracking the rain here on storm tracker 4, it has been in the north bay for the most part although it has rained elsewhere. that's pretty good rain, and with strong winds, there you can see heavier rains right now happening to the south, it

breaks up a little bit and there is a little patch up there in sonoma county and through napa county as well. so, beyond that point, we're also talking about these winds. usually with the winds outlining the front, we tend to see a southerly flow, after that you have a northwesterly flow. it has not yet shifted, as you can see, santa rosa indicating a strong southerly wind at 20, and with the local topography, but it may also mean that real front has not yet passed over and all of the rain is reverse of motion. we have the wind advisory it has been posted for the entire bay area, technically it doesn't start until 8:00 a.m., okay, whatever. but it goes until 10:00 this evening, and except for shielded area, your talk about everybody getting involved in this. temperatures for san francisco, i want to note the winds, west northwest, 20 to 25. gusts will be higher than that. around the city, make note of that.

dropping off into the evening hours. but here's how your day kind of breakdown for you. by noon, we are talking about 54, lower 50s for the inland valleys. very mild even to start. heavier rain by noon will be south bay and for east bay, and by 4:00, sure, there will be breaks in the clouds, we can see the sun coming out just a little bit, we still have remaining showers and remaining windy. coming up we break it down in terms of timing and check the seven-day forecast. our team coverage continues this morning with kron4's averi harper reporting live from crissy field. and, how are you doing out there? last time we checked in with you the rain had not arrived just yet. >> reporter: yeah, the sky just darkened and it did start to drizzle a few minutes ago, so there is a bit of rain out here but it's not stopping people from coming out to crissy field and enjoying the scenery. there are some joggers who are here. i saw some people walking their dogs on the beach, but it is definitely very, very, very windy. there is a windsock just in front of me blowing very hard, and i can see some palm trees

that are definitely bending in the wind. there's definitely a lot of puddles out here, it was raining here a few hours ago, it will continue to rain. and, i'll be sure to monitor the weather conditions as the morning goes on. i'm definitely going to try to talk to some of these runners and people out here enjoying the rain and wind, even though, you know, the weather is not that great. back to you in the studio. >> all right, thanks a lot for that report. he will check in with averi throughout the morning. breaking news into the kron 4 news room, part of 164th ave. in castro valley is closed following a deadly crash. we got off of the phone with the chp who say one person was killed when a car hit a concrete barrier. no one else was injured, but the chp is still on the scenes, again, part 164th avenue is closed in san leandro. other news, breaking overnight, 23 people are dead,

another 23 injured following a fire that broke out at a psychiatric hospital in southwest russia. the fire started late last night. a hospital employee says there were about 140 people disabled in the hospital at the time. including 50 who were bedbound. at least 51 people were rescued unharmed, but so far, the cause of the fire is still unknown. also breaking overnight, officials in geneva, switzerland say they arrested two men of syrian origin and their car had traces of explosives. it's all part of an investigation into suspected jihadists one went after the terrorist attacks. the city has been on high alert over terror concerns possibly involving a plot against meetings at the united nations. happening now, california authorities arrested a man in connection with the fire at a coachella mosque. carl dayal junior has not been formally charged the police say he was taken into custody on suspicion of arson, a hate crime and felony burglary.

julie buhler with our partners at cnn reports on how the mosque is planning to bounce back. >> reporter: smoke has dissipated and flames are gone but the damage remains on the outside of the islamic society of the coachella valley. the acting a mom at the mosque eight years ago moved to the area for a job but he has been muslim since 1970. >> it's a feeling of sadness. but, not despair. you know, we know where said that our mosque was affected, we intend to fully get back to normal here shortly. you know, we do consider this an act of terrorism, just like anything else. we do understand that there is a very small handful of people who do these types of things, you know, on both sides. and, we just want the message to be out there that we do not condone any of this behavior or criminal activity, coming from any side. >> reporter: the mosque suffered considerable damage to the entrance and smoke damage throughout. while they are still in the process of cleaning, mour said

they don't have a cost of estimates. in the next day or so, mour said they will be porting enough for any damage. there is no timetable to return to the building, and he will be speaking with his board to see if they need a new place to worship. >> it is a critical building, but the truth is we could worship anywhere. we could worship in the parking lot. the building just offers as protection from the elements, and a symbol of the fact that we are here. we are a people of resolve and i'm absolutely sure we are going to pick up the pieces and fix the building and move on. >> reporter: the attack is in stark contrast to the expression of tens of catholics on their annual pilgrimage across the coachella valley, mour is hopeful that is what america is really about. >> that's what makes america great. you know, the fact that you have the right to worship in your own manner. and it really doesn't matter who likes it or doesn't. >> and still ahead on kron 4 news weekend, protests are up after a group stages a mock mass shooting near a university. will explain what message that

we are back on kron 4 news weekend with the national news this morning, a small group of gun rights activists staged a mock mass shooting near a college campus. they were met by dozens of protesters standing against the gun rights group. amanda brandeis reports from the university of texas at austin were students say it was a victory for those opposed to guns on campus. >> reporter: a home for diversity and free speech.

ut austin has been the stage for many protests, that this one left behind a bad taste for many. >> they are completely out of touch and trying to antagonize us during finals. they shouldn't be here. they don't belong here. >> reporter: 15 gun rights activists marched on the edge of campus with a clear message. gun free zones must go. >> you got rifles, don't give them to anybody. >> reporter: andrew clements brought along his ar 15 rifle. >> it's my bill of rights. >> it's really disrespectful considering they are doing it at ut on a campus with a history of a very disastrous school shooting. >> reporter: the gun rights groups also turned heads with her next plan, to demonstrate a mock mass shooting. >> regardless of what you think about gun rights, about campus, this is a completely bad idea. >> reporter: dozens of people marched to protest the mock mass shooting, but organizers did it quietly before they or

clinton, bernie sanders and martin o'malley will face-off for the third time. saturday's debate takes place in new hampshire, that of course, the second state that will hold a primary competition next year. as always, we continue to track the weather, rain and strong wind in the forecast for the bay area today. it could dry out a little bit more for the possibility of rain returning again next weekend. here to start all of that out is meteorologist dave. >> good morning, looking at the seven-day forecast and checking in for the rest of the week as well, right now we go to crissy field. -- right now to go to storm tracker 4. here's the heavier rain rest of san raphael, then it breaks out again, a new patch further up, it changes in most around, we are hearing from averi harper out there telling us that where she is in the city in san francisco it's not raining intensely right now, although the wind is with her and will be with everybody through the day today. sfo, live look, look at the clouds, no surprise. a 47 minute delay or so, check in with any flights it may

concern you, we might have some delays to deal with there. give yourself extra time to catch the flight. here's your future cast tomorrow for as we watched this role the 9:00 a.m., it paints a good section of the bay area by that point, heaviest of the rain, this would be the heaviest rain everyday we will get. this line that you see moving through, 10:00 a.m. by that point, starting to reach the south bay covering the east bay, and then by the time we get to high noon, heaviest rain will be largely south below the community for the bay area. dennis more of a scattered showers defend back here, even skies are opening up which will be the case but again, more scattered showers upstream. we're not going to go to the clear blue skies were everybody after this wave moves through, it will be kind of messy a little bit throughout the day with clouds and sunshine and scattered showers come up at wins for everybody. you can see things opening up for us tonight, although i suspect we will get talk tomorrow morning on the commute along with the winds, current check of the winds, they are in

the upper teens to 20s, for example, santa rosa, interestingly enough, usually we get the wind before the front moves through. a check into the future cast winds, here we go, about the noon hour, there we have the wind, well above, and by the way, that is it wind advisory. that takes up the entire bay area until 10:00 this evening. for the commute tomorrow morning, we may even be producing some of the winds and east bay as they remain in the teens along the eastern shoreline. speaking of which, temperatures today should reach the upper 50s today, near 60, very mild to start. temperatures are moving at all, off to a mile to start today. all of that cloud covering a mild wedge. we're talking about some rain perhaps next weekend, that is still with us. in fact, it doesn't look like the rain friday night is holding together as much, maybe up to the north bay is a

possibility. there are the chilly temperatures to watch out for, cold air behind this front, wednesday, thursday morning, temperatures approaching around freezing. >> thank you, days. now to the latest indecision 2016, the latest polls senator. ted cruz has opened up a double- digit lead in iowa. the latest polls showing ted cruz with a 10 point lead over donald trump. i'm of course the first state in the country to will the primary contest that the way first. trump and ted cruz square off in the next republican debate tuesday night in las vegas. donald trump taken to twitter to respond to the latest poll, he posted this three saying, new cnn iowa poll, "people behaving badly", ted cruz, 20. everyone else, way down. don't trust des moines register polls, bias toward trump. president obama: the deal that world leaders reached to combat climate change the best chance to save the planet. the agreement was reached saturday in paris and set the goal of eliminating greenhouse

now. good morning a figure for joining us on kron 4 news weekend. i am marty gonzalez and we are looking at storm tracker 4 tracking the storm over the bay area. we have complete coverage of the storm. averi harpy is live along the embarcadero in san francisco but first we want to go to dave spahr. he continues to keep track of the rain and wind in the weather center. good morning. a good morning. as we have been talking about the intensity of the rain as we speak . it is entering into the city of san francisco, crossing the golden gate, and hope it -- as we speak, you can see right here, this seems to be outlining a little bit of what appears to be somewhat we say in the trade as a bow echo and it can carry with it some intense rainfall and heavy wind with it. it may not be that intense as we get in the midwest and deep south. the energy is concentrated into this line as you can see and the intensity is showing up on the radar. downtown san francisco, it extends and you can see the north bay, down to the south

back on kron 4 news weekend, continuing to track the storm as we see the rain moving into the bay area. you get the latest look at the storm tracker for showing where the storm is now and where the hotspots are where the rain is falling. upper right, we get the view of the embarcadero and the lower right we see the richmond/san rafael bridge. there is rain pretty much around the bay area. you were saying that this band right here is extra heavy. >> that is the intensity and averi was on live when this --

near the embarcadero. it took her off of the air. that carries with it heavy rain showers and it is -- we call it a bow echo. it may not be the intensity in the midwest and deep south because they can have a tornadoes but what we are getting is obviously some straight-line wind is with it. more intense way that we have experienced across the area and intense rainfall which it is delivering. right now, as we speak, it is making its way towards the area airports. i suspect the the oakland airport and sfo what we already have a delay. putting this into motion, you can see of formulating at the end. this is running behind storm tracker 4 but there it is a right there, lining up in southern marin county before crossing over the bridge and into the city. that is extending off towards the east bay. we have a two hour delay at sfo. oakland does not have a delay been posted but i suspect on

the tarmac, with the -- it will cool it for 15 minutes to see what goes on. san jose, looking at green as well. putting this into motion, as we were talking earlier, what we can see -- falling knives, we see the radar telling us this is more advanced than the models were telling us by maybe one hour or so keep that in mind as we go forward. from 10 am, and you can see it is around livermore, and the south bay. i suspect it may be further south so it might -- it might strike these communities earlier. around 12 noon, you have clear patches trying to develop. all of that will give energy for the atmosphere to spawn scattered thundershowers and with all of this going on, the wind will continue. more waves continue to come in and the wind has shifted from the north and ultimately into tonight, things start to clear out and it looks like into mars

track the storm and you can get a live look. we can see the heaviest rain is moving to the east bay and into the dublin valley, dublin san ramon air, raining hard. san leandro and danville as well. >> it is about to cross into sfo. two hour delay. up to the north, the rain is continuing. this is going on. >> we have the bay bridge on the left and bridge -- richmond/san rafael in the center and all of them with water droplets on the camera. wet pavement. it is a mess. >> it will be for this morning of that will be coupled with the wind and the rain will be subsided -- the heaviest will subside in the next hour or so. it is an next destination down to the south bay and the further east bay is what is left over. it is a bow echo that was in place with delivering -- intense rainfall and some straight-line wind to make note of. we will put this in emotion and

now. that is averi harper reporting live from the embarcadero. looks like things are calming down a little bit. >> reporter: yeah. the rain has gotten lighter a little bit. not a whole lot. it is coming down here and you can see people who are here. they have umbrellas. varies a lot of people who are driving out here. they have their headlights on, windshield wipers on. it is definitely not pleasant to be out here this morning. i would suggest, if you plan on coming outside, that you put on some rain gear. i have rain boots, a code, a hat on, all to try to keep dry but there are not -- not a lot of people stay dry on the embarcadero. there are runners and i've seen people walking their dogs and people taking a stroll in the rain. not a lot of them are staying dry there are lots of puddles and it is high tide and we are seeing water come up onto the embarcadero. i will be out here throughout the morning to update you about the conditions.

breaking overnight, overseas, officials in geneva switzerland say that they arrested two men of syrian origin and -- a car had traces of explosives. it is an investigation into expected jihadist one month after the paris attack. the city is on high alert possibly involving a plot against the meetings that are taking place at the united nations. in the golden state, california authorities arrested a man in connection with a fire at a mosque. 23-year-old man of by the name of carl dayal junior has not been formally charged but police said that he was taken into custody on suspicion of arson, hate crime and felony burglary. joanne feeney buehler from our partnership with cnn reports on how members of the mosque are planning to bounce back. >> reporter: the smoke has dissipated and the flames are god but the damage is on the outside of the islamic society of the coachella valley. he became the acting him on of the mosque eight years ago when he moved to the area for a new job he has been muslim since 1970. >> a feeling of sadness.
