there were multiple incidents this morning. bart officials tell kron4's haaziq madyun, the weather may have played a role in making some riders lose consciousness. >> reporter:6 medical emergencies on san francisco bound bart trains during tuesday morning's commute >>"6 different trains at 6 different times" >> reporter:bart spokesperson jim allison says the incidents occurred between 7 and 10 o'clock this morning. >>"fortunately they don't appear to be serious at all, there were 3 people who passed out or fainting and then some other problems" >> reporter:the rain played role in slowing down the trains. you can see some water on the tracks here at the west oakland station >>"we do have what we call a rain profile where the trains accelerate and decelerate at slower speeds to prevent the wheels from creating some delays on the train, the additional delays from the medical emergencies just compounded the delays that we had"

released new crime numbers for the first 6- months of 2015. >> pam: catherine heenan is here with details.which a lot of people find discouraging >> catherine:unfortunately - a lot of the crime numbers are up. violent crime rose across the country in the first 6 months of 2015 - compared to the same period the year before. >> catherine:the statistics show a 1.7 percent jump in the number of violent crimes reported by local law enforcement to the fbi. >> catherine:with increases in murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault. and nationwide - there's a 6.2 percent jump in murders from january to june of 2015. >> catherine:the fbi isn't offering any possibly explanations -- simply releasing the numbers. taking a look at a couple of examples in the bay area: >> catherine:in san francisco - 3279 violent crimes were reported for the first 6 months of 2014. that jumped to 3453 for 2015. >> catherine:looking specifically at robbery -- the numbers are 1510 robberies in 2014 -- but

nearly 1900 in 2015. and in san jose -- 1629 violent crimes were reported for the period in 2014. >> catherine:in 2015 -- it was 1700. and san jose robberies -- 561 in 2014 jumped to 581 in 2015. >> catherine:nationwide, some officials are trying to put a positive spin on the report.pointing out that most numbers are still below where they were 20 years ago. >> pam: californians would be limited to buying a maximum of one rifle or shotgun each month. under proposed legislation in the state assembly. the bill would create the same limit currently in place for handguns. >> pam: a democratic assemblyman says, his proposed legislation responds to a trend of californians purchasing more long guns than handguns in the last decade. >> pam: he says, it makes no sense that anyone can buy as many rifles or shotguns as they want at any time. last week, other lawmakers introduced two bills that allow firearm manufacturers to include "bullet buttons". those allow rifle owners to rapidly exchange empty ammunition magazines. for full ones. >> pam: an ominous prediction today. which does not bode well for the health of our oceans. grant is here now with the specifics.
