. >> temperatures over at levi stadium reaching the mid-70s yesterday, as expected. we will be warmer today. the heat will peak today. if you're lucky to get today off or once the kids get home from school you want to go to the beach, this is the day to do it. people enjoying that unusual warmth and sunshine. here is a live look at the bay bridge this morning. we're not seeing any fog out there this morning. temperatures are fairly mild. i haven't needed my heater for the last couple of days. 40s and 50s across the board. 57 in downtown san francisco. 40 in antioch. a little cooler there. and for the north bay, we're looking at 40s and 50s. and, boy, napa, richmond, in the low 60s. i'm going to double check those

numbers. those are fairly mild readings at this hour. temperatures will be general lie a little warmer than yesterday. low 70s for oakland and alameda. near 70 for union city and fremont. almost getting to 75 in locations. 70 for walnut creek and concord. 72 in livermore. low 70s in pleasanton. checking out the rest of the bay area, the warmest readings in the south bay like yesterday. mid 70s for san jose. 74 in sunnyvale. even low 70s in downtown san francisco. so even sf getting in on some of this warmth. low 70s for concord. 73 in napa and santa rosa. again, today the heat peaks. we will start to cool things down gradually the next few days. i'm tracking a chance for rain

in the 7-day forecast. we will talk about that coming up later. but first here is traffic. >> all right. the commute is off to a great stop. no major crashes or stalls. i'm tracking that drive time in san francisco right now. it's nice and smooth. 8 to 10 minutes from the maze to downtown san francisco. no problems on the peninsula to slow you down. it's a great time to get out there. it will be a nice connection from foster city to san mateo. 101 is at the limit in both directions. even coming from the north bay it's smooth. to marine city it's a quick 16 minutes. back to the desk. >> thank you, robin. the denver broncos as you heard earlier are your super bowl 50 champions.

they are taking home the lombardi trophy. cam newton and peyton manning taking the field. they say defense wins championships and the broncos proved that was the case. von miller stripping the ball out of cam newton's hands right here. von miller won the mvp by the way. von miller again stripping the ball from his ends. c.j. anderson sealed the deal right there. peyton manning not only the oldest quarterback to win the super bowl but the first super bowl to win the championship for two teams. we got sound from manning and von miller and other broncos players. take a listen. >> i've been playing a long time. i know how hard it is just to have the opportunity to play in

played -- they played great today. >> the super bowl as we know brought football fans from all over the world to santa clara. we saw all of them out there, sporting their own jerseys. it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. >> reporter: it's the hottest ticket in america. more than 100 million people watched. a tiny fraction get to go. it's fair to say everyone inside is incredibly rich or incredibly lucky. >> i won a trip and i'm here from all the way from south carolina, from greenville. it's awesome. >> i have a very, very successful wife. >> reporter: once you get here, you still have to muscle your way through the crowd and stand in long lines for expensive beer. obviously some fans have been preparing for years.

>> take a look at this video. super bowl 50 kicking off in formal fashion. fantastic there. the blue angels doing the fly- over at levi's stadium. boy, did they time it out right. as soon as lady gaga hit that final note, they streamed over. it was incredible to see. i didn't get to see it in person but it looked great on tv. looking at the forecast today, we saw a lot of sunshine in the shot there. more today. >> can't lady gaga sing? she nailed that yesterday. >> i know. >> it was wonderful weather yesterday. that continues today. we still need the rain though. so we are looking at some rain.

>> is there any? >> a little in the 7-day forecast. we will talk about that a little later. excuse me. my allergies have been out of control. the pollen has been going nuts because it is warm and things are already blooming out there. here is a live look at sfo. we are looking at clear skies all across the bay area this morning. no fog out there. temperatures are fairly mild, especially in napa. richmond, upper 50s to low 60s at this hour. 57 in san francisco. 53 in oakland. cooler in livermore and the south bay where we're looking at temperatures in the 40s right now. a lot of folks went to the beaches over the weekend. it was great to do that. a lot of folks tempted once again. but we have a beach hazard statement in full effect right now through tonight. we will see swells around 6 to 8 feet. so you have to watch for waves and rip currents all day today. keep that in mind if you're heading out today. temperatures the warmest in the

south bay this afternoon. a lot of mid 70 readings today. look at these numbers. 76 in san jose. 75 in campbell. 72 in morgan hill. 76 in los gatos. sunny view coming in around 74 today. checking out the peninsula, a lot of low 70s this afternoon. even 72 in downtown san francisco. 69 for daly city. plenty of sunshine in the forecast today all across the bay area. a lot of 70s for santa rosa and napa. 70 in concord and oakland. 72 in livermore. check out the next couple of days. we are looking at a little cooldown but still sunny and dry through tomorrow and into wednesday where we're going to see temperatures back into the 60s. and then it looks like we are tracking a little bit of rain during that storm tracker 7- day. and we will talk more about the

weekend as well. don't forget it is chinese lunar new year today. if you have celebrations for that, enjoy the warmth. you will want to be outside. here is a look at traffic with robin. >> let's start off with the ride on 92. the san mateo brimming is in good shape. no major hot spots or slowdowns. it will be a great ride coming out of east bay or hayward. maybe some are connecting to union city. the right across the golden gate bridge looks good. no trouble spots in san francisco. an easy ride on 101 north and south in and out of san francisco. i'm tracking your commute on 580 rich heading into the north bay. so far a quick 8 minutes from the toll plaza to san rafael. >> thank you, robin. good news for drivers, the

average price of gas dropped 8 cents over the past two weeks. that brings the average down to $1.73. here in the bay area we will never see prices this low. san francisco on average is $2.56. not bad. oakland $2.41. the price may continue to drop if crude oil costs continue to supply. we will see if that continues. two people are dead and one in the hospital after an attack in marin county. police responded to reports of an attack on cole drive. people reported the fight involved bats or sticks. they couldn't make it out. shots had been fired just before police arrived on scene. police are not saying if the two people killed were shot but it appears to be an argument between a man and woman. one person was taken to the hospital but expected to be okay. it's not clear how that person

was involved in the attack. we're still waiting for those details. meanwhile police continue to investigate a police chase that ended in a fiery crash killing three people. you can see in the video how it ended. it was just before 9:30 saturday night near 9th and brandon. the car took off once police started to drive closer. moments later the car crashed into a taxi and burst into flames. all three passengers in the suspect car was killed. the taxi driver had minor injuries. the governor of north carolina is recovering from minor injuries this morning after a car crashed shortly after the panthers lost the super bowl. the car that governor mccrory was riding in was rear-ended after leaving levi's stadium. mccrory experienced minor pain but was able to continue on to his destination in another vehicle. all of the fun and the festivities have come to an end

in super bowl city which had shut down theem the eembarcadero has been shut down. it was crazy for people leaving levi's stadium. we have reports on what it was like for fans trying to exit the game. >> reporter: some left a couple minutes before the game ended. >> i wanted to beat the traffic. i bet $1,000 on carolina and carolina lost. >> we really want to go to the martini bar. they beat us two weeks ago, they're going to win. might as well go get grey goose martinis now. >> we have to bounce. >> reporter: even then, the crowd was intense. bars opened the flood gates to tens of thousands of fans could get through. >> everything about the stadium was wonderful. smooth. smoothest i've ever been to. >> very easy. >> reporter: some people

decided to wait it out inside the stadium for a little bit. >> half an hour and then we decided to go out. >> traffic too much. too much. ♪[music] >> the 12 minutes of the super bowl that is always highly anticipated is the half show. coldplay and bruno mars and beyonce rocking the stage there. how fans and the celebrities responded to the show. >> reporter: fresh off her killer national anthem performance -- >> you did amazing out there. >> thanks. thank you. >> reporter: lady gaga went to get her seat for the halftime show. back stage, a buzz of dancers and crew members getting into place. local kids were giddy about taking part in the halftime show. >> so much time. and i'm so happy to be here.

>> reporter: they found out two weeks ago that they would be on the biggest stage of their lives. >> it's going to be crazy. >> beyonce is in the house. ♪[music] ♪ got kicks on ♪ >> reporter: between the fireworks and the bruno mars- beyonce dance-off, the audience just went wild. >> i thought the halftime show was outrageous. i thought it was outstanding. >> it was amazing. awesome. >> i literally almost shed tears at super bowl 50. >> awesome. >> that halftime show is the most amazing we have seen in our history since michael jackson. >> reporter: even celebrities were star struck by the halftime show. >> i'm glad i got to have one of the best seats in the house to see three great performers perform. it was exciting. ♪[music]

>> well, on to national news now. we have two people who were shot and killed following a mardi gras parade in mississippi. police say that carlos bates and isiah major the third were fatally shot when someone opened fire at a christian mardi gras parade. both died at the scene from a gunshot wound. four others were hurt and taken to the hospital. their condition unknown. >> it was very chaotic. trying to sort out what happened. we had two people down on the ground. that's all we knew. we had officers yelling for help. again, there were thousands on the street leaving. we were trying to find out if we had suspects fleeing or if the actual suspects in the shooting fleeing. >> police are investigating obviously. no arrests have been made at this time. we will take a quick break.

>> and we're back. the time is 4:28. coming up on the 4:30 mark. here are the big stories we're working on this morning. the denver broncos, if you haven't heard already, are taking home the lombardi trophy. they had a dominant defense last night. they beat cam newton and the panthers 24-10. if this was the final game of peyton manning's 18-year career, he couldn't have scripted an ending any better than this. the broncos put an exclamation point on that last night. von miller got his first touchdown of the game in the

first quarter. he went on to win the super bowl mvp. lady gaga kicked things off with her rendition of the national anthem. it was breath taking. as for the halftime show, bruno mars and beyonce joined coldplay on the stage. beyonce chose the perfect time to announce her new tour. the formation tour will kick off on april 27th. and crews of course cleaning up around levi's stadium and santa clara and san francisco as well. that will be the story going forward this week. coming up in the 5:00 hour, we will have a live report with kron 4's jackie on what to expect for traffic this morning as street closures are still in place. when you can expect traffic to get back to normal. let's talk about the weather because it was fantastic yesterday. levi's stadium and the bay area was on center stage for the

14 minutes from hercules to the maze. a great ride coming from the grade and casper valley. that's a quick ten minutes. if you plan on connecting to 238 you will be in good shape. maybe you're traveling along the peninsula this morning. if you have to make the trip through san francisco, it will be a quick 15 minutes across the lower deck and into the oakland maze. so far a good ride. >> robin, thank you. to politics we turn. we're a day away from the first primary of this year's presidential race. the candidates are canvassing the granite state, asking for votes. scott mclane has more on where the candidates stand. >> reporter: voters are there for bernie sanders that's according to the latest cnn poll of democratic voters. sanders is well ahead with 58%

support. 23 points ahead of hillary clinton. >> when we began this campaign in new hampshire, we were 30 points down in the polls and she was much better known in the state than i was. >> reporter: but not everyone is predicting a landslide. >> it is the hardest state to poll. there's no way that bernie sanders will beat her by 30 points. >> reporter: clinton left new hampshire sunday for a meeting in flint, michigan where lead has contaminated the water supply and threatened the community's health. >> the children of flint are just as precious as the children of any other part of america. >> reporter: the issue will be front and center in the run of michigan's primary next month. >> if i came in second, i wouldn't be happy. >> reporter: on the republican side the latest polling shows about a third of voters backing trump. on tuesday, it could be the end of the line for some candidates that don't perform well enough. >> usually what happens, iowa

and new hampshire weed out the weaker candidates. you might not have a lot of weeding out after tuesday. >> more on the latest with new hampshire throughout the week. super bowl 50, by the way, brought roughly a million people to the bay area. that number was reflected on bart as it was a record day for ridership this weekend. it carried over 419,000 passengers on saturday. that was a record for a weekend day. and then breaking its previous record by about 100,000 people. so it was packed on the trains. bart officials are running longer than normal trains today to sfo to accommodate the fans leaving the area. wednesday and thursday were days when record number of passengers rode bart. everybody coming into san francisco to attend the concerts and the festivities gearing up and leading up to the big game. happening today, drivers will resume the search off of the -- divers will resume the search for a wreckage off of the coast.

the remains of two victims and parts of one plane were recovered sunday more than 100 feet below the ocean surface. the search was launched friday after both planes disappeared from radar. one of the planes was a beach craft. the other was a super, a plane often used for stunts in the air. we will take a quick break. it's 4:37. still ahead, we will have a look at some of the best super bowl commercials. we will have that coming up. and you didn't have to be in the stadium to be fired up about the game. we will tell you how fans outside the stadium spent their super bowl sunday. there are lots of people to talk to. more on that coming up. here is a live look outside at the total plaza camera. more on the commute with robin coming up.

if you didn't have a ticket to super bowl 50, no problem. that's what some fans thought. we talked to some that traveled a long way in hopes of watching the big game. >> reporter: the parking lot outside of the stadium fans sprawled out on the grassy median. they didn't have tickets but they had their face paint and team colors. some broncos fans drove up from southern california. >> we drove up from riverside to enjoy the festivities of the super bowl. we're broncos fans and we're supporting our team wherever they go. >> we have a motorhome and loaded up the kids and got somebody to take care of the dogs. we will be back. >> reporter: this panthers fan flew in from new york. >> the atmosphere is the super bowl. it's the first time that i have been around anything this scale. it's huge. >> reporter: several thought they would be able to watch the game on the big screens outside of the stadium. but that didn't happen. >> despite neither of our bay area teams playing in the game

of course, 49ers fans and raiders fans were out there at levi's stadium representing their teaches. some had some not so kind words for one of the teams. >> we're just here to represent the 49ers forever faithful. >> welcome everybody to the bay but you're in our house. >> came out to curse these broncos. they deserve the raider nation since we're right down the street. they deserve to see us. every raider fan should be out here. >> it's not too early to look ahead at next year for our bay area team. the 49ers are hoping to bounce back from the 5-11 season. and we will have the 7th pick in the nfl draft. the raiders are in the middle of the pack with the 14th pick after finishing 7-9. we will take a quick break. it's the year of the monkey by the way. coming up we will take a look at the many pact that has on the chinese culture. here is a quick look outside.

again. oakland set a record yesterday. they got to 74 degrees. check out what is going on outside right now. clear skies across the bay area this morning. here is a live look at the bay bridge. the camera froze there but we have clear skies greeting us this monday morning. let's talk about some of the cities that have the best chance to set a record or tie their old record for today. so san jose your record today is 75. we're forecasting 76. oakland the record high today at the airport is 70. so you're probably going to set a new record around 74 or 75. that's our forecast high. sfo, 73 is the record high. san francisco and downtown record high was 74. and then we're forecasting lower 70s today. so we may get close. that will flirt with the record high there. napa maybe tying their record of 73. san raphael going for lower 70s. excuse me. all right. here is a quick check of how

they will finally give the pandas a run for their money. >> in other headlines this morning, two teenage brothers are dead and several others injured after police in canada say they broke into olympic park in calgary. the accident was a joke gone horribly wrong. at least 8 teenagers entered the property at 8:30 in the morning and used a personal sled and tried to go down the bob sled track. they collided with a concrete gate. what the teens didn't know is that it branches off into two separate tracks can there's a large gate that separates the two. >> two of them were deceased on scene by paramedics, just given the injuries. the remaining six were transported to various hospitals in calgary. >> now there are questions about whether the track is adequately secured and whether this could have been prevented. the company that operates the facility is cooperating with

police and will conduct their own review of the incident. officers will be reviewing footage around the track. one in critical condition. crews worked on sunday to remove pieces of the crane that collapsed friday in new york, killing one person. we brought this story to you friday morning. the boom came crashing down on north street in tribeca. it was cut into 35 pieces and hauled away on a flatbed as you can see in this video. the last piece was moved sunday morning. crews are working to repair a water main and gas line. they hope to reopen in time for the commute this morning. if you're not talking about the game or halftime show you're probably picking out your favorite super bowl commercials. these are some of the highlights from this year's ads. >> the nfl released its own

so many people could not get an uber ride. they were swamped with so many people in such a short amount of time. the crews need to get the barriers removed. we're on a scaffold, a highrise and it will probably take three or four days to remove this. the media, national, local, were all here as well. we will talk to the santa clara police department to see what is going on. the traffic over here, let me quickly show you, right now it's slow. not a lot of people moving. what you don't see, you don't see cars going by. so the santa clara police department, because this is tell a concern, believe it or not, even though the game is over, they're still asking us for our security badge. this is still shut down. i will find out how much longer it will be shut down so people can get back to work. this is an example why i go to parties and i don't throw a party. because if you throw a party, there is so much cleaning up to

about the morning drive. >> not bad but it is crowded. if you have to use the san mateo bridge, there is a little bit of traffic. that is normal. it is less than 20 men's for the total trip from 880 to 101. if you use it now it's trouble free. over to the golden gate bridge. if you have to take that trip along 101, still nice and quiet in the north bay and san francisco. kick 16-minute ride from novato heading to the golden gate bridge. it's clear across to the san francisco side. i'm tracking travel times throughout the bay area. 580 west looks good from casper valley to san leandro. no problems in downtown oakland. 238 to 980 is trouble free. and for those of you who plan on commuting from the south bay this morning, northbound 101 is in great shape from palo alto to the south bay. >> thank you, robin.

if you were planning to go to chipotle for lunch today, you have to make different plans. they will close for four hours for a food safety meeting. it comes after the e. coli outbreak last year. about 500 people were sick inned. during today's meeting employees will go over an updated food safety program implemented by the chain last month. they will reopen at 3:00 this afternoon. also happening today, fuel experts will talk about why california's gas prices are consistently higher than everybody else. the petroleum market advisory committee has been studying gas prices and what causes them to pay. california drivers pay more than the rest of the country because of our higher taxes and blend standards. but members of the committee say the taxes and cleaner burning fuel don't account for the full difference in the price. we have been complaining about this for years.

in the hospital after an attack in marin county yesterday. there were reports that shots were fired on cole drive. there was a fight that involved bats and sticks and knives at first. and then the shots were fired. police got to the scene. they have not said anything more about suspects. but these people are known in the neighborhood. again, two people were killed in this apparent gun fight that broke out after a fight. and a third person is in the hospital. investigators are trying to identify three people killed in a fiery crash in san francisco. there's the aftermath. this was about 9:30 saturday night near 9th and brandon street. there was a car doing donuts there. by the time the cops got there, the car took off. officers gave chase. shortly after that, the car crashed into a taxy and burst into flames. three people in the car were killed in the crash. the taxi driver had minor injuries. and developing news out of southern california this morning. divers have found two bodies
