it's going to be a really, really nice day. everyone will feel the nice warm air throughout the afternoon hours. so let's check out how your east bay shore highs break down for today. 74 in oakland, 73 in castro valley and hayward. 76 in city and fremont so a lot of areas will be a couple degrees warmer today compared to yesterday. a lot of mid 70s across the board including 75 in pittsburgh and brent wood. same deal in livermore. 64 along the creek and lower 70s. checking out the rest of the bay area the south bay looking

good here. mid 70s forfma san jose at 76 and some places along the south bay could get potentially close to 80 degrees so warming for you folks. low 70s in downtown san francisco. time now for a look at your roads. >> let's start off with traffic heading into san francisco. for those of you who have to use the bay bridge right now in pretty good shape with no major hot spots or problems. the east shore freeway 24, 580 looking good out of oakland connecting to westbound 80. it's going to be a great wide. 8 to 10 minutes the total drive from downtown. over to 92 checking your commute on the tail bridge also checking in travel free and brake lights picking up out of hayward but major problems on the bridge or bay shore freeway so your commute is going to be just fine for now. let's head over to the maps tracking travel times.

west 24 looks great. as for the tunnels no problems for 580. looking good and 101 through sunnyville checking on troubles. >> robin thank you. big news following this morning out of the east bay. police make an arrest in the murder of 22-year-old stacy. the missing san jose woman's body was found over the weekend. her 23-year-old boyfriend is now in custody for her murder. kron4 spoke with a close friend after the arrest. it's a story you'll see only on kron4. >> she was a really nice person and she didn't deserve this. >> speaking on behalf of 22- year-old murder victim stacy's family close friend says it comes as a terrifying shock that 23-year-old valentine stacy's boyfriend has been arrested for her murder. >> it's somebody that she trusted. i'm pretty sure she felt safe with him so that's the part that's really sad and scary.

you think you know someone but sometimes you don't. >> did she ever say he seemed abusive? any signs this might happened? >> no she never talked about her boyfriend to me. >> and stacy and him had been together for less than a year. >> everyone was friends and she had a great personality so everyone wanted to be around her. >> stacy went missing last week last seen at a party at hayward. on saturday afternoon her body found in a rural area in fremont though hayward police believe she was actually killed in their city. >> her mom particularly wanted everyone to know she was a great woman and she's going to be missed as a daughter, sister and mother. >> and when i asked if she or stacy's family have a message for him she simply said no. phillippe kron4 news. >> in other big news we are following this morning police are now linking the gruesome

discovery of a headless tomorrow so in the east bay and was a person of interest in her disappearance but police say shortly after that announcement he jumped off the bay bridge last night killing himself. meanwhile the identity of the torso found still hasn't been positively confirmed by the coroner but it could be that of shelly pitchner. we have the latest released from the family. >> they confirmed on facebook his mother and father are no longer living ending all speculation. meantime detectives from the fremont police department as well as business pain police department remained on scene well into the night collecting clues at the family home. people who live here say it is quiet but things became uneasy when the news of shelly's disappearance came up and the

latest develop of the suicide has some neighbors reconsidering things he had said before. >> two days after she went missing paul and one of his sons came to my door asking me if i had seen her. and of course i hadn't. but i just read about the story and i got really emotional to him and i said i'm so sorry and he literally put on an oscar nominated performance saying how sorry he was and if he did do it i don't know how people sleep at night because it was so genuine and real. >> flyers on the street poles asking for information about shelly's where abouts. neighbors today say the thing is a tragedy. she lives next door. >> it's disconcerting and a small town so it's been a safe town and it's just unnerving to have things like this happen. you know? literally so close to home. >> jeff bush reporting for us

this morning. only kron4 news spoke with shelly's husband. paul talked with balanced man at his brisbane home. she left home saying she was going to stay with a friend. take a listen. >> explaining the experience of my sons about having to survive parents passing away i had new experience i had never had before of having one of my sons actually start taking care of me because i was trying to get organized and that was tuesday morning and he immediately came from north beach to help me and i think he recognized that i wasn't in good enough shape to try to do what was needed to do. >> again police say paul jumped off the bay bridge just before 8:00 tuesday night. for continued coverage go to our website for more on our mobile app as well. watch more of the interview with paul. all of that and more available

on our website kron4.com. other news happening today schools could see increased security. police are investigating an anonymous letter that contained death threats directed at staff and students at san francisco high and el ka mean o high. police have not said whether the threats are valid but schools are implementing security measures for the rest of the week. an uber driver accused of assaulting an airport employee. it was on wednesday uber issued a statement about the assault. the company says we have a zero tolerance policy for violence of any kind while driving or riding with the uber platform. company officials say they have not confirmed the suspect is an uber driver but we do have pictures of the suspect and his car. the suspect got into an argument at the rental car facility last thursday and that's when he pushed him. still ahead winter storms

all day today but hopefully you can enjoy the sunshine because it's so nice. here's a live look at the golden gate bridge. clear skies kicking off this morning and no fog so not a huge concern across the bay area. quick check of the satellite and radar picture lots of sunshine today and temperatures a little warmer for most locations our warmest day and then we have a little chance maybe for some rain primarily in the north bay come tomorrow night so here's a look at our turn conditions right now seeing 40s currently in livermore and pleasanton so jacket weather early today. 44 in fairfield. low 50s in open right now. 50 in fremont 51 in san jose and 53 in san francisco. checking out our highs in the south bay this is the warmest reading today. look at 78 degrees this afternoon. 76 in campbell and san jose.

clouds increasing and then a chance for some rain not a huge system by any means for primarily the north bay and on saturday looking dry for everybody under mostly sunny conditions upper 00s expected. sunday morning clouds and a nice day and then the warm trend begins once again. i do want to quickly mention on sunday there's a system that could skirt the north bay far north bay that could bring just a little bit of rain but other than that i'm expecting dry conditions for the weekend. and next week moving right back up into the mid 70s by tuesday. time now is 4: 15. here's a check with roads. >> i'm tracking that commute on 101 for those of you who have to travel between the north bay and san francisco. it's looking pretty good so far. heading out trouble free right notch. doyle drive looks good no problems on city streets. richardson, lincoln and all of the approaches look good. southbound coming from the north bay no major problems.

remove trash that's been collecting along the beaches leaving a bunch of garbage and debris along the shoreline we take a closer look. >> volunteering for 18 years she's dedicated to keeping the shoreline as clean as possible. >> i picked this up on my over here. it's not going to find it's way to the ocean because i'll find a garbage can for it. >> over the past year her job has gotten harder with an unusual large amount of debris. two dead whales and a pair of shipping containers washed ashore spilling garbage all over the beach. recently a winter storm damaged several homes sending debris tumbling to the shoreline below. >> trek material, building material, landscapes that has been falling in getting wrapped up in the sand. really heavy and hard to remove. >> the coalition has also seen a lot of garbage washing ashore

from inland. >> sacramento through the storm drains and through the bay out through the river systems and water shed. >> volunteers with the coalition do what they can to pick up the trash but they need a little bit of help from everyone. >> the average person can look out their door check their parking lot when they go out and go shopping. look for litter anywhere that it is. >> finally the pacificca beach coalition is going to sponsor a clean up this coming weekend and a big beach clean up over the earth day weekend on april 22. in pacificca charles clifford kron4 news. after four years a marine corps veteran admits to stabbing his girlfriend to death and hiding her body in panama. brian pled guilty to went missing in 2011 and two years after she vanished her body was

found in a swamp. he hid her body in a remote jungle in panama and admits to destroying evidence and sent fake e-mails to family members to make people think she was still alive. >> they had no kids and weren't married. they could have just went their separate ways and would have been fine. no need for this at all. it's useless and senseless. he's going to be locked up and no longer a threat. >> he's been in custody since june 2013 for lying about the investigation and facing life in prison. threatening facebook founder mark zuckerburg and jack dorsey. the terror group is nah they are taking down isis related accounts. in a new video which we are not showing isis shows photos of zuckerburg and dorsey riddleed with bullet holes. it will start ten for every one

they shut down and delete social media sites entirely. hammond bundy and another 15 defendants have pled not guilty to federal conspiracy charges related to the armed take over of a wildlife refuge. they are all innocent until proven guilty and read their rights but some told the judge they felt they were being treated like convicts behind bars. >> they are charged and held in custody before discovering a sentence for defense. it's wrong. >> i think all these guys should be at least put out on bail, every one of them. >> the government's investigation at the refuge is now complete which means today defense lawyers will get their first look at the scene. hammond bundy's attorneys argue he should be there under supervision of u.s. marshalls to point out evidence but the judge did not grant requests.

tonight is the last republican presidential debate before super tuesday. the prime objective is to try and do what they have to which is so far failed and stopping the surging of donald trump. he started as an outside candidate the frontrunner is as confident as ever and opponents could be in for a rough night. scott mcclain has a preview of tonight's debate from the university of houston. >> a few precious days before super tuesday the epicenter of the republican nomination will be texas where the five g.o.p. hopefuls left in the race will meet for a debate in houston. can anyone stop donald trump? the frontrunner says he'll be ready thursday night. >> we'll be totally prepared. people have not done very well against me. so far everybody that's attacked me has gone down. >> marco rubio has been attacking trump something that won't likely stop on the debate stage. >> donald trump is alluding to the fact he thinks obamacare

an arrest in a murder case and police department has been arrested now in connection with the murder. reports missing two weeks ago after attending a party in hayward. her body was found on saturday shot multiple times. investigators believe she was killed in hayward before the body was taken to fremont. police discovering a torso in the east bay to the missing woman in fremont. the coroner still hasn't positively identified the body but it could be of that shelly pitchner. her husband paul was named a person much interest in her disappearance early this week and on tuesday night he killed himself by jumping off the bay bridge. trying to figure out what happened. people in pacificca are trying to clean up trash all

storm tracker seven day around the bay forecast we are going to see changes arrive tomorrow. temperatures will drop by several degrees a lot of 60s tomorrow afternoon. and i think clouds will start to decrease for the afternoon hours and maybe bring rain potentially for not just the north bay look at the models now there are some models bringing the rain to the rest of the bay area including san francisco parts of the east bay. over the weekend more sunshine temperatures are going to be fairly comfortable. sunday another little system could stir up this time mainly the north bay bringing just a little bit of rain potentially on sunday but i think most locations will stay dry. when i come back we talk more about friday's rain and also time that out for you on the future cast. time now 4: 33. here's robin in traffic. >> good morning. there's a back up at the bay bridge toll plaza in the cash lanes only on the right hand side tracking a minor wave but it's not too bad. overall a good ride on westbound 80 heading to san francisco.

so driving in it's going to be your left side looking at this live shot it's the right side so american over to the opposite direction and avoid that back up. smooth across the upper deck and no major problems right now in downtown san francisco so it's going to be a pretty good commute on westbound 80. over to 92 a good connection from hayward to foster city and san mateo no major trouble spots the bridge one of the busiest during the morning commute but if you get out there early in the 4: 00 hour beat the 5:00 rush. 880 is quiet. the bay shore freeway is quiet. if you plan on connecting to san mateo no problems in the peninsula right now. tracking drive times and a pretty good looking commute on westbound 4 for those of you out of brent wood oakly and west of the bypass on through pittsburgh bay point no problems connecting to 242 in concord. heading south through the east bay 22 members from 238 to 237

and no hot spots a quick 18 minute trip coming out of south san jose up to 237 in sunnyville. james? i felt like they wanted me to change my story. they kept asking me over and over again. are you sure this is how it happened? are you sure? >> in the east bay four oakland police officers have been placed on leave accused of trying to break into a home and assaulting that woman that you just saw. now we are going to hear more from her. kron4 scott race has her story. >> i told my kids to go back inside and they were crying. >> with her husband by her side she has spoke in front of cameras wednesday afternoon. holding back tears she claims she was assaulted by two off duty opd officers back on december 9. her home in oakland hills neighborhood. >> i heard loud banging on the

door. i could see a white male approximately 25 years old standing outside. he looked like he was intoxicated. he continued to say that he wanted to come and he wanted to talk to the owner of the house. the officer continued to use vulgar language and came towards us where we were standing and out of nowhere he kind of came my direction and walked towards me and jumped on me and grabbed me really, really tight and we fell to the ground. and as a result i have some bruises and injuries to my right leg. >> a claim filed by john burse identifies two officers involved in the incident, sergeant joe turner and officer colin spieth. he was arrested and a total of four officers have been placed on administrative leave. >> when an investigation occurs to determine and get to the

bottom to determine whether or not there was any form of a cover up on the part of any officer, any attempted cover up. >> and cortez did not know the officers involved in the incident. also i can tell you oakland police department is doing an internal investigation and the district attorney's office is also looking into the incident. reporting in oakland scott race kron4 news. >> thank you scott. now to national news this morning the death toll from a powerful storm system that brought tornadoes to the gulf coast and southeast continues to rise and now we are learning a young child is among the victims. the storm system released more than a dozen tornadoes across virginia florida and north carolina and severe damage north in pennsylvania. here's a look at some of that damage this morning. at least seven people have been killed across the country four of them killed in virginia. the youngest ship we are told is two years old. >> we are not worried about the

damage. it goes out to the lost of life. >> it spun through the middle of the house and just demolished everything. >> as tornado watches expired new warnings were issued. winter storm warnings issued for states from texas to delaware with roughly 50 million people in the storm's path. still ahead another bay area family being forced from their home because of high rent. the tactics they claim their landlord is using to force them out. tech stocks are down. lay offs are happening. venture capital investments are drying. is silicone valley headed for a bubble burst and how will it effect jobs in the bay area. that's coming up on kron4 morning news.

bubble burst could be heading our way. >> well there is definitely a real sense of fear that is out there and when fear is there and the opposite of optimism then certainly venture capitalists are going to put the brakes on and go slower and lend less money. >> lay offs and the extreme fall of tech stocks is spooking investors. linked in stock is 50% down from where it was in november. twitter stock is down 62% over the last year. >> twitter is in big trouble laying off 8% of their work force. for the first time they are not gaining users they are losing people. in the last three months they lost 2 million users. yahoo also in really bad shape announcing laying off 50% of their work force around 1700 people. hp has laid off 33,000 and microsoft has laid off 7,800.

smaller high-tech companies are feeling it. go pro, instagram and yelp also. >> a different event happening and growth as before in 2016. >> josh schwartz wrote this article for u.s.a. today about how the hour of reckoning is coming for tech. >> you are going to see more belt tightening than we have before. it's not going to be the unbridled growth that has been dominating for so long. >> it's not going to be a bubble pop but it is a slow down and people are losing their jobs and companies aren't hiring as aggressively as they were before so it's a definitely change. >> john and other tech analysts say there will not be a fierce bubble pop but a slow down. lessons were learned and things are different now. >> now you have a much larger

audience on line. 3billion people versus half a million back then. you have a lot more real profitable businesses. the mobile phone revolution the use of that has led to a really strong internet economy. all i'm saying is what you are going to see is scaling back of what's been going on which was not sustainable to begin with. >> our lessons learned some yes some no. i have absolutely no faith that everybody is going to say well we've learned so much the last time and we are not going to go down that path again. that's not necessarily true but people remember what it was like when jobs were scarce. >> and they need to be prepared for jobs being scarce so from what i learned unless there's another major terrorist attack or a foreign market collapsing there will not be a dramatic bubble pop with a different company closing it's doors every day but it will effect the job market, lay offs will continue and it will be harder to keep one you already have.

and we are back at 4: 45 breaking news out of southern california look at the fire you see on the screen with all of the flashing lights. firefighters working to get this brushfire under control. this is 20 acres currently on fire right now in the area of ma beau in the santa monica recreation area. broke out about 3:00 a.m. when firefighters first got the calling. it's burning in the area of

pacific coast highway and 300 children have been evacuated or currently being evacuated from camp bloom field and cam stallone. those two camps in danger of having this fire approach too close for comfort so getting those kids out of there and you can see how intense some of the flames are. you can see the firefighters are on and it's dark out kind of hard to make it out. the hillside right next to them ungulfed in flames. a lot of glowing embers. we'll get a better idea of how large this fire is and what direction it is burning and now as the camera zooms out you can certainly see it does indeed go quite a ways up that hillside at least as much as we can make out in the dark. impressive pictures and tracking the story updating you

missing woman. live from the fremont police department with the latest development. >> the fremont police department as well as the coroner's office still working to identify the person who it belongs to even before they make a conclusive answer to this the family has come out and said it belongs to our mother. take a look at your screen. this all started back on february 15 when paul pitchner reported his wife shelly went missing and in a few days after that fishman reported seeing a headless torso near the dunbar bridge. the police have been in that area hoping to talk to witnesses trying to collect as much evidence. then on tuesday night kron4 spoke to paul pitchner. a few hours after that the chp says paul pitchner jumped to his death from the bay bridge

shortly after he was identified as the person of interest in the disappearance of his wife shelly. now late last night even before again the coroner's office has come out to make a definitive conclusion on whether or not this was shelly pitchner the family took to facebook. take a look at your screen. this is what her son james wrote. my mother and father have recently passed. i hope you respect the privacy of my family and i. we are here in front of the police department and hope to speak with them later on the very latest on the case. they spent the past couple of days in the dunbar bridge area looking for more evidence. they are suspended it but i can tell you if they need to they will continue to find evidence. at this case it is still wide open and calling paul pitchner a person of interest not in fact the killer. the investigation continues. back to you. >> we'll check back with you for more on that.

>> good morning. yeah almost two weeks after she was reported missing leaving a house party here in hayward and five days after her body was found in rural fremont hayward police say they have made an arrest in 22-year-old stacy aguilar's murder and it's this person, 23-year-old hayward resident who according to family friends was an ex- boyfriend of aguilar. her body was found with multiple gunshots in fremont on saturday afternoon. that was after she had gone missing for a week. the man was arrested in san francisco and as i said was an ex-boyfriend of aguilars. we had a chance to talk to one of aguilar's close friends and she said she knew they had been going out but didn't think he was a danger to her at all. >> it's somebody that she trusted and i'm pretty sure felt safe with him so that's the part that's really sad and

come together just east of downtown malibu. a couple of camps have been evacuated and 300 children attending have been whisked out of the area for their safety. and again it's not a populated part of malibu bordering up along national recreation areas so sparsely populated but as the sun comes up we'll get a better idea of how close it's burning to structures and update you with that part of the story but here the camera zoomed in on a fire fighting team working to stamp out this part of the wild fire burning. we'll keep you updated. other headlines happening right now police are investigating a series of burglaries, a spree really on monday night. a commercial building was broken into on auburn court about $50,000 worth of electronics was stolen. just before that an attempted burglary was reported on al bright street. police have not released

information just yet. more burglaries on tuesday. hit a gas station. those thieves moved to a shopping center on washington boulevard. they broke into a restaurant we are told a nail salon and tried to get into a dry cleaning business as well. police are now looking for two men said to be driving in a white 90s lexus sedan. >> isis is threatening facebook founder mark zuckerburg and twitter ceo jack dorsey. the terror group is unhappy that the social networks are taking down isis related accounts. in a new video which we are not showing here this is just blanket isis video and killings that they have done. in this other video isis posted photos of zuckerburg and dorsey riddled with bullet holes. they are going to create ten new accounts for every one that facebook or twitter shuts down and will eventually delete the social media sites completely.

more breaking news this morning the death toll from this powerful storm system that brought tornadoes to the gulf coast and southeast that death toll rising this morning. a young child is among the victims. more than a dozen tornadoes swept across virginia, florida and north carolina causing severe damage. you can see homes literally reduced to rubble. virginia was one of the hardest hit. this morning four people were killed in virginia the youngest victim just two years old. a total of seven people have been killed. tornado watches expired but new warnings have been issued winter storm warnings and advisories issued from texas to delaware with about 50 million people in the storm's path. time now 5:10. still ahead on the kron4 morning news a woman in the east bay is speaking out after two police officers assaulted her in her own home. we'll have her story. and the republican

and we are back. want to take you to southern california where we have live pictures and can get a better idea of the scale of the wild fire burning just east of malibu where the highway comes together. 20 acres at last check was burning but certainly expected to go up as we get more light coming in on the scene and get aerial aircraft up there and get a better idea of how big the fire is. but it is raging. fire crews from multiple agencies and reports of 300 children evacuated from a camp in the area burning deep in the

hills of malibu. this is part of the santa monica mountains national recreation area. a lot of ranches and camps, not so many houses but obviously there's a big concern it could spread to populated areas so look at all of the flashing lights out there. >> just a line of crews along the streets. they don't want that to spread. >> no and that road is a natural break so they are going to hold the line and keep the fire from spreading and jumping towards malibu. >> this just blew up this morning. >> these live pictures only from 3: 00 this morning so a couple hours in. >> and it's that big that fast although they are hitting it hard look at that. >> and the question is going to be about the wind. >> it doesn't look all that windy but it is dry and hot right? >> very dry and they haven't had much el nino storms this whole season. they really missed out on a lot of the rain they were hoping to

trying to break into a home and assault a woman. it happened on december 9 at the woman's home in the oakland hills neighborhood. her and her husband talked to us about what happened. she says that two off duty officers showed up at her home and assaulted her. she says she does not know the officers and has no idea why they came to her home in the first place. >> he continued to say that he wanted to come in and he wanted to talk to the owner of the house. the officer continued to use vulgar language and i came towards the outside where they were standing and out of nowhere he kind of faced my direction and then just walked towards me and jumped on me. >> in this legal claim cortez identifies two officers involved in this as sergeant joe turner and officer cullen faith. the oakland police department says officer faith has been arrested and a total of four officers have been placed on

and we are back. 5:30 the time. quick update on the breaking news out of southern california where we have the hillsides on fire this morning. a large response from firefighters in the area. the last we heard from them they estimated 20-acres are burning right now five miles just west of malibu. it looks to be bigger than that but we'll give you an update when the sun comes up. right now 300 children evacuated from camps located in the hills around malibu. we are obviously watching very carefully. looks like they've got the situation in hand but you can see on the right hand side of the screen it's still burning at a fast clip here and hard to make out the direction because it's so dark but they are handling it in all directions. hard to make out but you see the library of flashing reds on the screen those are the firefighters with the trucks doing the west they can.

or stalls on the bridge. tracking the commute to the golden gate, especially southbound. that's traffic coming into san francisco that's starting to back up, approaching the toll plaza and out toward, the south tower there. so far nothing reported on the bridge just yet, but definitely crowded. northbound looks good with two lanes heading out of san francisco. i'm tracking highway 4. that's the usual slow spot, stretches in the bypass, heading to the 202 in concord. the usual crawl for those who have to leave concord, wall nut creek. it will be off and on into alamo. no major problems right now, just a lot of heavy traffic heading south. here is your south city commute out of dublin. it's heavy from the interchange to 84. 32 minutes total to get from that point all the way into fremont, and also tracking your southbound commute. a little heavy out of south san

jose. back to the desk. >> thank you. it is 6:51, former state senator yee0 has been sentenced. yesterday he asked for leniency. he could have been sentenced to 8 years, but instead he got five. he pleaded guilty to accepting thousands of dollars in exchange noise political support and to being involved in a plan to smuggle weapons. police in martinez are looking for a car they say was involved in a hit-and-run last week. and a teenager on a bike was hit when that's car veered off the road. the car then left the scene. this happened monday. that car described as a late 2000s model toyota prius, and
