surveillance video might help retrace the moments leading up to smith's death saturday night. a crucial scene -- a hummer stops abruptly near an intersection -- driven by the suspect. then a mercedes s-u-v - driven by smith - apparently bumps the back of the hummer. the two vehicles stop briefly - then the hummer tries to pull over to the side of the road. but instead of stopping - the driver of the mercedes s-u-v swerves into the other lane of traffic and speeds away. that's when a chase apparently begins. about a block and a half away - smith is shot and killed. his wife is shot in the leg. suspect cardell hayes' attorney insists his client was 'not' the aggressor. the attorney seems to be setting the stage to claim that his client fired his gun that night in self-defense. new orleans police meantime, say they found guns in the vehicles of both men.

scientists say, the el nino conditions in the pacific ocean are mostly to blame. kron four's jeff bush reports from the marin headlands. 80 sea lions, 110 elephant seals and 50 harbor sealsthe marine mammal center is packed and it's all because the el nino conditions in the pacific ocean have forced the makrel and the sardines and other fish that are the main diet to head north where the water is colder. the center says there are more animals than average being treated here. dr. shawn johnson lead veterinarian we are about at capacity. all our pools are completely full and our pens. we are doing the best we can to take care of every animal that needs our help. the center rescues animals from as far south as san luis obisbo and as far north as for bragglately the center reports more patients than normaland, they keep coming in. the rehabilitation is a long processdaily tube feedings are necessary to get the animals strong enough to be released. they are checked and weighed frequentlytheir progress is monitored until the are strong enough to go. the sea lion pups are coming in because they are malnourished and con fusedtoo young to know how to hunt down the hard to find fishand, not very strong to begin with because their mothers

modesto police have arrested two teenage boys they say are responsible for a threatening video posted on snapchat. kcra-tv reports that police say the video shows a white student with a noose around his neck, shouting a slur and making a threat toward an african- american student. a gun was also fired in the video. the mother of the african- american student reported the video to school officials and police. police say the two 16-year-old students attend central catholic high school and are believed to be associated with the production or distribution of the video. police say the teens have been charged with making terrorist threats, committing a hate crime and criminal conspiracy. teenage use of will and a. pierre decide if you should kill this for or if the judge could
