before 7:00 last night on the lyndale avenue, off story road. no word on a suspect description or motive. this is the 12th homicide in san jose this year. an update to a story we first told you about yesterday morning on kron four news weekend. seven people were displaced from their homes after two houses caught fire in pittsburg. firefighters responded to a report of a fire on raindrop circle off winter way at around 5:00 yesterday morning. two neighboring homes were on fire. firefighters were able to put the fire out within 30 minutes. all 7 people were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. investigators say the fire caused 400-thousand dollars in damage. police say two leaky gas meters fueled the fire. the fire started between the homes and the gas meters of both homes fed the flames.

>> marty:the death toll is now at 32 after a magnitude seven- point-oh earthquake hit southwest japan early saturday. the country was struck by another powerful tremor just two days earlier, killing nine people. this is a look at some of the damage behind me. more than one-thousand people were injured in both quakes. emergency crews are searching for those possibly trapped under the rubble. c-n-n's matt rivers reports japan has now deployed 25- thousand troops to join the search-and- rescue efforts. >> reporter:her 80 year old father survived when this building collapsed on top of him. and that's the only piece of good news kiyomi matsuoka has got. it's just so surreal, she says. i'm still in shock. kiyomi's family ran a salon in this building for 40 years. they lived together in the back. but two earthquakesthe first on thursday, then again on saturdayshredded her home.

a fisherman has become a local legend after catching a shark that broke the scale. take a look at it. that's a twenty foot. 550 pound thresher shark. it was caught off the coast near san diego. thresher sharks aren't known for being aggressive towards humans. but they are known for being extraordinarily strong. it's an experience that this fisherman can't believe. >> marty:breaking news overnight. an update to a story we first told you about yesterday morning on kron four news weekend. seven people were displaced from their homes after two houses caught fire in pittsburg. firefighters responded to a report of a fire on raindrop circle off winter way at around 5:00 yesterday morning. two neighboring homes were on fire. firefighters were able to put the fire out within 30 minutes. all 7 people were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. investigators say the fire caused 400-thousand dollars in damage. police say two leaky gas meters fueled the fire. the fire started between the homes and the gas meters of both homes fed the flames.

thousand troops to join the search-and- rescue efforts. her 80 year old father survived when this building collapsed on top of him. and that's the only piece of good news kiyomi matsuoka has got. it's just so surreal, she says. i'm still in shock. kiyomi's family ran a salon in this building for 40 years. they lived together in the back. but two earthquakesthe first on thursday, then again on saturdayshredded her home. its devastating she says. utterly devastating. kiyomi is like tens of thousands of others in southwest japan, still reeling from the unexpected disasters. dozens were killed, hundreds injured, and some are still missing, buried under twisted metal and wood. we watched as a rescue team went property by propertylooking for anyone still alive. it's grim work.few have been found so far. but that's partly because precautions were taken. this photo was taken on friday.and this is what that home looks like now. oddly enough some people we've spoken to in this neighborhood say they're actually happy that two earthquakes occurred. after the first one hit tens of thousands of people were forced to evacuate from neighborhoods like this one. so when the second hit on saturday, some fifteen ties stronger than the first one, there were less people around. that might have saved lives." most of those evacuees ended up at shelters like this oneparents, kidsgrandparents dogs. some don't have homes to return to. the ones that doare simply too afraid to go back,

the next few days. polls show him way behind hillary clinton heading into tuesday's new york primary. sanders is hoping for an upset in new york in order to close the gap in delegates. despite winning the last 7 contests, sanders still trails clinton by more than 650 delegates. 247 delegates are up for grabs on tuesday. and on the republican side heading into tuesday's new york primary. donald trump is the heavy favorite. the latest poll out of quinnipiac university shows trump with a commanding 35 point lead over governor john kasich. ted cruz comes in third with just 19% support. donald trump is hoping that a win in new york will stop the momentum of senator ted cruz who made it a clean sweep in wyoming on saturday. he captured all 14 delegates that were up for grabs at the state republican convention. under wyoming's electoral rules--the other 12 delegates
