most now involved in the case of a south bay teacher -- accused of what's called - "catfishing" students. >> pam:gloria allred is representing a parent who is suing the gilroy school district. for not doing enough to stop the misconduct. >> pam:this is the accused teacher --- douglas le. he was arrested at gilroy high school last week. >> pam:police say, he posed as a young girl, and messaged facebook - asking them to send sexually explicit photographs. >> pam:a parent says, she alerted the school district back in 2014, after the teacher sent her teen daughter. >> pam:... >> believe that the sexually inappropriate text was not in viet reported to the police. we are taking and the full action to the complex. instead, he was

horrible family yvette. -- event. >> reporter: asking for more time to prepare for the case. the preliminary hearing is double monday. san jose brought fladeboe, kron 4 news. >> pam: the man accused of shooting and killing his former girlfriend at an antioch convenience store. made his first court appearance today >> pam: the incident happened at a quik stop store around seven - monday night. police say, williams got into a fight with his ex- girlfriend. 27-year-old cynthia flores- crose. before the shooting. >> pam: a store clerk tried to help but was shot in the hand. williams was charged with murder and attempted murder. >> pam: new details tonight in the events leading up to an officer being shot in

pittsburg. we now know *this shooting was related to another shooting at a mcdonald's restaurant in antioch. >> pam: the antioch incident happened on mahogany way, just before 11- yesterday morning. >> pam: police say, an employee who injured. standing by a window when someone shot at him from a parking lot. >> pam: police say, it was 'not' a random shooting. they believe the victim was the intended target. >> pam: officers believe the shootings all started over a domestic dispute. which happened between the suspect and his girlfriend, who is an employee at that mcdonald's. >> pam: and now, officers are saying the same man. is the one who stole a car, crashed and then shot at an officer pittsburg. that antioch police officer is going to be okay. >> pam: kron four's will tran spoke to the wife of the man who was involved in the crash. he explains what led up to the shooting. >> reporter:the el cerrito police department is asking for your help in identifying a person who stole someone's porch.

>> reporter: the police had been to see in the area. the black bmw was spotted on leland. trying to pull the suspect over. he refused and took off and crashed at the intersection. injuring three other people. but getting out and fighter shot at the police officers in fact, two boys went through a windshield. not short at the police officer's car. but they were taken to hospital and treated recklessly is back home today. three people are still in the hospital that were involved in the crash, including the husband of charlene. >> reporter: you tell us what went down? he will >> that is when the black bmw was headed toward the

vehicle. within moments is which directions and the head of one to the car next to him. he was going to get out to help the victims. but the guy in the bmw got out and started firing at the police officers. they then, jumped into the vehicle and it went down. as soon as the shot stopped. i see the police rushing into the car. with the door opened palin down. san that he is ok. but the officer says are you sure? there is a bullet hole in your door. >> reporter: the police officers shot at the suspect multiple times but never hit him. he faces multiple charges including, attempted murder. will tran, kron 4 news.

>> pam: the el sorry to police department is asking for your help in identifying a person who stole someone's packages right off of their porch >> pam:take a look at the family's surveillance video. it happened just before 10:30 monday morning at a home on richmond street. >> pam:in the video you can see the thief drive up to the victim's home in a white g-m-c pickup truck. the thief grabs the victim's package. which was delivered earlier that morning. and replaces it with an empty decoy box. >> pam:the thief is described as a feet tall and was wearing sunglasses, a green jacket, a blackshirt and green pajama pants. >> pam:in san francisco. as officers were in the city's sunset neighborhood. it led them to a stash of other stolen items in oakland. >> pam:it all started when a woman reported that a thief had broken her car window, and stole two laptops and a camera which were used for medical purposes. >> pam:not long after the first report. the same woman notified police again

saying, that her stolen camera was being sold online. investigators tracked the online seller to a home on wilshire boulevard in oakland. that's when officers conducted a search warrant. and found the stolen camera along with dozens of other items. >> pam:among the items. two shot guns, a bike, power tools, and several pairs of expensive, brand named jeans. >> pam:officers confirmed that many of the stolen items were taken from other people's cars around the bay area. three men were arrested and booked into the san francisco county jail. >> pam: there was a chase through the city, after reports thata car full of people was doing something very strange. >> pam: catherine heenan is here with the story. >> catherine:something strange -- and very annoying. police and the c-h-p made arrests after tracking down the people accused of driving around throwing eggs at people and cars. the c-h-p got the first complaints shortly before midnight. >> catherine:when they found the four men in the car -- a chase began on powell

street. it ended when the car crashed into a cable car turnaround and the men got out and ran. >> catherine:three of them were eventually arrested.and at last word, one of the men is still at large. at least one carton of eggs was left behind in the mess. >> catherine:police discovered that the license plate had been replaced with fake plates.and found the real ones in the trunk. as if all this isn't odd enough -- our own stanley roberts says there was yet another very strange twist to this case. he'll tell us about it tonight at 8. >> catherine:pam? >> pam:carjackers of a 'meals on wheels' food truck. led officers on a chase that ended in a crash this morning. >> pam:the stolen truck overturned. as seen in this footage from our helicopter partners at a-b-c7. fremont police had to shut down the redwood road on- ramp to interstate - 580 in castro valley. officers received reports of the stolen vehicle. and were able to locate it shortly after 10-this morning. >> pam:a pursuit led them through union city and hayward until the truck

flipped over. two suspects inside. a male and female. were taken into custody at the crash scene. >> pam:a child was badly burned in an overnight house fire in vallejo. the fire broke out just before 1:30- this morning at a home on carl avenue. >> pam:the child was taken to the hospital, and she recovering from second and third degree burns. the fire destroyed the house. and now seven people are left without a home. the fire is *still under investigation. >> pam:after a long 12- hours. a man who climbed on top of a v-t-a light rail train. finally climbs down. >> pam:it happened just after one -this morning, as a train was heading back to the rail yard on north first street and component drive in san jose. >> pam:a man was standing on the tracks as the train was approaching. the train operator was able to stop before hitting him. >> pam:that's when the man climbed on top of the train and refused to come down. he then tried grabbing the trains electrical wires. the train operator sprung into action to prevent the man from getting hurt.

earthquake on the southern section of the san andreas fault, of course the northern section of the san andreas fault goes through the bay area here, was 1906, so it was more recently but they have both been very quiet since then and so it is quite possible that we could have a big earthquake on either section" >> reporter:while dr. allen agrees with professor jordon's comments regarding the 810 miles stretch of the san andreas fault being quiet, for shadowing the next big natural disaster.he cautions agianst such a major quake causing hollywood type destruction >>"it is certainly possible that we have a big a lot of damage, seeing all of san francisco collapse is very unlikely" >> reporter:well, i don't know about you, but hearing that certainly made me feel better. dr. allen says instead of focusing on the damage an 8.0 quake could cause on the san andreas fault, it is better for us to focus on being prepared for the big one >>"we all should be doing the same things to prepare, by thinking about the buildings we are living in, and thinking about how we are going to protect ourselves in the shaking and thinking about how we are going to respond in the days afterwards" >> reporter:he says the bay area is very fortunate to have modern building codes in place but says older structures are still vulnerable.on the uc

has been our during about the changes that are needed to help. pam? >> pam:soon you will have to be 21. to purchase tobacco products in california. >> pam: governor jerry brown signed the bill yesterday. upping the minimum age for tobacco purchases from 18 to 21 state-wide. the new law will be effective in just one month. california is the second state. behind hawaii. to approve the legislation. >> pam: it applies to all chewing, smoking, dipping, and vaping tobacco products. governor brown also signed

legislation to regulate e- gigarettes. and to expand exisiting requirements for smoke -free workplaces. >> pam: supporters say, increasing the smoking age to 21 would deter teens from becoming smokers. >> pam: meantime, the booming e- face federal regulations. the new rules, years in the making, put the industry -- as well as a host of other tobacco- related products, under new federal oversight. >> pam: c-n-n's karin caifa has details from washington. >> reporter:as the industry continues to grow, the federal government has moved to regulate e-cigarettes, much like traditional cigarettes. >>we cannot let the enormous progress that we have made toward a tobacco- free generation be undermined by products that impact our health and economy in this way. >> reporter:since e- cigarettes don't actually contain tobacco, they didn't fall under previous regulation. the devices turn nicotine into a vapor, hence, "vaping." >> reporter:"vaping" has now turned into a multibillion- dollar for oversight in part because it's not clear if vaping introduces health issues on its own.

>> reporter:the rules announced thursday will ban the sale of e-cigarettes to minors beginning in august. they will also require new health warnings and any products that hit the market after february 2007, will have to submit to a federal review. >> reporter:this also extends to cigars, and hookah and pipe tobacco, among other products. >>the rule will also allow the fda to evaluate the ingredients of these additional tobacco products, how the products are made and their potential impact on public health. >> reporter:this, the day after anti-smoking advocates claimed a victory in california, where governor jerry brown signed a series of bills that included raising the smoking age to 21. >> reporter:the vaping industry points to those who use e-cigs as a means of smoking cessation, and in a statement, an industry group -- the vapor technology association -- cited the potential burden of new rules, saying, "today's action will yank responsibly manufactured vapor products from the hands of adult smokers and replace them with the tobacco cigarettes they had been trying to give up." >> reporter:in washington, i'm karin caifa. >> pam: there were no winners in last nights' big powerball drawing. so the
