let's get to the weather forecast. looking at temperatures for today, and that's what we've been anticipating. today on the hot side. >> probably only a couple areas cracked the century mark. pretty much plan on that. that's a good decade beyond what those averages should be or better in many cases. here's alive look of what we have going on. this is usually what we've been looking for. fog in the morning hours but that's not as much the case this morning. fairly clear skies over most of the bay area which extended all the way to the coast in some areas. the fog is less detrimental this go around and a lot more sunshine from the first way to get things started. temperatures also fairly mild. look at this. not only necessarily just in the 50s but in some cases upper 50s.

fremont right now at 60, 59 hayward, 58 pleasanton. it's the high-pressure we talk about. it tends to be the warm feather friend, if you will, to give us a high temperature, which was able to today who looks at most areas probably see upper 90s. you're ready for school forecast as we put up for the afternoon pickup to give you about 98 to give you an average. by the noon hour, but it looks at 90 inland. the day at 72, but areas in the south east bay along the shoreline and the south bay, that will start to see numbers more like the upper 80s. it will vary across the general area. those forecast maps coming up in just a bit. right now, a quiet look it traffic. open for friday like conditions. so far off to a pretty good start.

arriving to san francisco, it's quiet and light, subtle problems on 80 west through downtown. for those of you have to use 90, here's alive look it traffic leaving hayward right now. so far it's at the live. that's a quick 16 minutes. for those of you who have to get to wear from the north bay, moving well across the board of golden gate. dry times, highway four headed west in good shape. no problems for 580 west through the livermore valley. maybe you are out of the south bay. looking good on north 101. thank you. let's get to the news now. our top story comes out of the self they were violence erupted in the streets of san jose after a donald trump rally. police have confirmed one officer was assaulted and there were a

few arrest made after the rally. they would not get any more specific than that. didn't give a specific details about how many people were arrested so we are tracking that for you this morning. in a statement, please talk about how there were people arrested but wouldn't specify what friends were committed. these are images from sky seven in our partnership with the abc seven news. you see police on the ground with the riot gear on. you can see, as we said, tactical gear there. protesters were blocking the street. officers there to keep them that they. the crowd grew at times to as many as 300 people but then did -- then thinned out is when it went on. protesters say they did nothing wrong. >> so they took it upon themselves to/our signs and snap,. we were literally just standing there chanting.

the group that i came with, we have been nonviolent this entire time and we are the ones that got our bullhorns smashed, our signs snapped. i thought america was a free country. >> the mayor, a clinton supporter, has criticized trump for coming to cities and causing problems local police have to deal with. police say there's no reports of damage to buildings or cars in the area. we are now getting a clearer picture of that encounter that ended with two fremont police officer shot in the gunman dead. the both of those officers remain hospitalized. behind me you see the photo the gunman. his of 44-year-old resident of san jose. he died during the overnight standoff with police. we have cell phone video that shows the moments just after one of those officers were shot. again, it all ended with an overnight police standoff that we followed all morning long

yesterday. >> reporter: according to the fremont police department, the suspect in this case shot one officer during a traffic stop and then fled on foot to a nearby shopping center. he was working at this restaurant when he saw the man run by. moments later, confronted by a second officer along roberts avenue and the two exchanged gunfire. he then barricaded himself inside his home. >> initially she said he had a hostage. he fired a shot inside the residence and claimed to have entered the hostage that he had.

>> they tried to force him out by firing a second round of tear gas into the building. the house then caught fire and talks resumed. >> as the drama unfolded, his wife, daughter, and granddaughter hid inside their home which sits just one door away. >> we were terrified. there was shots ring out from point a2b. >> as the house burned, apparently, he barricaded himself inside. fire crews were able to bring the blaze under control early thursday morning but unable to rescue the suspect. an outpouring of support outside the emergency room at regional medical center in san jose. the most seriously injured officer, the officer who first encountered the suspect, still in critical condition. the second officer is in stable condition.

spots. here's the bay bridge. in the hot one. we will see those numbers east of the hills today popping in the upper 90s and will probably see triple digits on the board as well. not everyone will get it. we'll start with first things first from where we stand right now. lower 60s. concord 61, richmond 59, 55 oakland, 60 through fremont, san jose 63. the north bay has plenty of 50s at work as well. fog is not as much of an issue this morning as we had from before but we still of our high-pressure. that means today is the best opportunity because this is the best location to see numbers race to the triple digits or get the closest we are going to get. it's the best averages we have to see them happen today. if your weekend plans, it's still plenty warm throughout the weekend. temperatures received through the weekend and early next week get downright cooler.

lunchtime temperatures for you, already looking at lower 90s. meanwhile, ron east bay shoreline, 75 oakland gives the benefit of having a lot of they influence. you get to the south and those numbers pop already. middle 80s by the lunchtime hour. let's colorize this for you. here you see the warm up. it doesn't paint all of those communities into the hundreds. the chance you'll see 100 better and extending maybe to livermore as well. when you get to most of the hills, most readings probably in the upper 90s. here's a cool down tonight. blue action here in the north bay a bit and then a warm-up happening for tomorrow. less aggressive, as you can see. that's the end of the sign of things to come.

in the north bay, not as much in the way of 90s spreading out. let's see numbers here. 81 oakland, berkeley 82, dropping to the south where we start to see 90s. 93 union city and fremont jumping over the hills. 99 danville and walnut creek, san ramon 99. we'll see triple digits start to spread out further on, maybe not quite the side but certainly close. and to take a look at the 7-day forecast because i've mentioned things change a bit, they start to drop and quite 87 sunday. still feeling like a summer day and beyond the averages but cooler compared to what we have been through. lower 80s sets the tone for next week consistently. the beaches looked great with 73 as an average would drop into the middle 60s into early next week. traffic seems to be pretty calm right now. >> yes, for now. hopefully, that will not change and we stay in good shape. no major problems.

the ride looks pretty good for now. a good right out of heyward headed to fostered city and san mateo. no problems getting to the peninsula. if you have to come to the east bay and headed to the north bay, here's alive look. it's nice and quiet here. a quick eight minutes to 101. across the golden gate, nice and smooth. no problems through novato. just under 20 minutes for south 101 to get over to the san francisco side of the bridge. let's check some drive times for you pay 580 west, no major problems. northbound 280 looking good coming out of san jose heading into cupertino. now back to the news. let's head to national headlines here. it's been a deadly day for the u.s. military here at home.

three accidents in three different states have left six service members dead and others missing. five soldiers died after an army truck overturned in a creek. their bodies were recovered from the floodwaters near the vehicle. three more soldiers were rescued . they are in stable condition at the hospital this morning. four soldiers are still missing. army officials say several states and local agencies are helping with search efforts right now. recent storms have left parts of texas under deep water. near nashville, tennessee, blue angels plane crashed during practice for an air show this coming weekend. this is the cell phone video shot by someone on the ground. you see the smoke plume rising in the distance. a tragic turn of events as that high precision acrobatic team was making preparations for an air show this weekend. unclear if that will still go on for the blue angels carry a lot

of significance in the bay area. we see them every year during fleet week. you let the pilot who was killed right here. we have learned that pilot is a husband and father of two young children and he probably served in the marine corps and served in afghanistan. the pilot also has a connection to our family. reporter will trim flew with him last year. >> reporter: prays for a pilot after they flew together in october. giving him an experience you'll never forget. >> we spoke about how he knew the dangers. his wife knew the dangers of flying but it was something he wanted to do. his wife is a passion and allowed him to chase his dreams through the clouds. >> the executive producer with the air show network was in nashville working when the crash happened. now as they plan for fleet week 2016 in san francisco, the focus turns to safety. >> we make sure we're doing everything we can in san

francisco. >> this scene has happened before. in 2007, blue angels jet crashed in south carolina killing the pilot after the blue angels did a stand down where they did not fly for three months. >> they have to find out what happened today before they can continue on. >> the jets will head to home base in pensacola for the crash investigation, a procedure review, and pilot retraining, a lengthy process within the question, could the blue angels be ready to soar again in san francisco by october? >> we'll have to just wait and see if they'll be part of that this year. >> fleet week is scheduled for october 3rd through the tenth this year and we'll keep you updated

as to what will happen with the blue angels. a separate military jet crash in colorado to tell you about. this happened right after president obama addressed the graduates of the air force academy. fortunately, no one was injured in this crash. the f-16 pilot was able to safely eject from the plane. the president met with the pilot shortly after the incident and thank him for his service. let's talk politics here as we reset our top story. violence erupted in the streets of san francisco after donald trump rally. police made a few arrests. all of this new the san jose convention center after that rally ended last night. that crowd at one point grew to as many as 300 people. again, no major incidents, but some violence and some arrest. in recent weeks, it seems wherever the controversial candidate goes, protesters follow the last week confrontation, arrest, and violence greeted him in anaheim and san diego. the candidate made his last

appearance back on april 29th of the california republican party convention. after protesters blocked the entrance, he had to use the hyatt back entrance to get inside. he has not shied away from the controversy. during his san jose rally, the crowd can be heard chanting, build a wall, in reference to his previous comments on immigration. take a listen. >> we're going to build a wall. don't even think about it. don't even think about it. and who is going to pay for the wall? who? 100 percent right. >> house republican speaker paul ryan is also setting aside his concerns and has no voiced --

and is now endorsed donald trump. this after contemplating the decision for several weeks. he's decided to step up in support of him today. hillary clinton in southern california yesterday. she was attacking donald trump and questioning him. he says electing trump would be a historic mistake. clinton is expected to gain the necessary delegates needed to win the democratic nomination. however, that's not stopping bernie sanders. he was in modesto continuing his push for the democratic presidential nomination. recent polls show that he and clinton are in a statistical tie here in the golden state. at his rally in modesto for the second time, sanders was interrupted by animal rights protesters. one person managed to get on the stage. secret service quickly moved into protect the presidential candidate. sanders hopes that if he can win california, then maybe some superdelegates will switch their support from hillary clinton to him

here's a look at some of the big stories we're following this morning. violent protests erupt after a donald trump rally at the convention center. a group of about 300 protesters confronted trump supporters as they left the rally and that's when the violence broke out. at least one officer was assaulted in the protests and at least four arrests were made. to fremont police officers remain in the hospital after they were shot wednesday. the suspect has been identified as a four-year-old -- 484-year- old. we have the latest on him. it happened after a traffic stop. he died after an hours long standoff yesterday. as of right now, one officer is still in critical condition and the other is in stable condition. game one of the nba finals onto the golden state warriors. they beat the cleveland cavaliers 104-89. quite a night.

their only mission was to stop steph curry and clay thompson, and they did but that's all right because the bench stepped up. team-high 20 points. not bad. green added 16 points and 11 rebounds. a game two is at oracle on sunday with tipoff set at 5:00. now to the weather. good morning. good morning, everybody. a live shot. one of the reasons we show this is because frequently in the morning we cap show this until we get rays of sun because there's a deck of cloud cover over it. not the case this morning. to show you how clear things are comparatively speaking today than the last couple days. our temperatures on the board, mid to upper 50s at work here. 59 hayward. you see san jose already at 63, fremont about 59. up to the north bay, hodgepodge 50s going on. this underscores the fact that we are a bit warmer today than we have been in the last couple mornings to

start off. that's not a big distinction but a couple degrees ahead of where we are. here's a warm up. lower 90s. northwest winds, by the way, 10 to 15. a bit of a breeze at work with all of this. areas east of the hills won't reach the century mark or a little better. here's how it breaks down for you. 8:00 a.m. 68 or so at 6:00 a.m. 56 at the bay and 56 at the coast. 72 at the bay. that we'll be oakland and further to the south it will be warmer. 98 inland it looks like for the pickup and 79 for the bay. some areas may be closer to the century mark than that by 3:00. this will be the warmest day. get out enjoy it. right now a look at traffic free and hopefully it still quiet. still quiet at the bridge. 92 looking good and moving well so far. out of the east bay and headed to the peninsula. the freeway connecting in union

city. that's fine north and south. when you get to the 92 west connector, it's a good ride all the way across. let's head over to the bridge. traffic is moving well here. earlier a bit of a backup. that's already gone. leading the north bay, south 101 is still nice and light. 16 minutes. let's check the south bay drive times this time around. if you have to use 237 from the east bay to the south bay, no problems. only six minutes for the westbound trip. 85 heading north. it's a quick 16 miniature from 237 in sunnyvale to the 92 connector. thank you. 4:33. a new development in the murder of local artist tony ramos. he was killed when painting a

mural last year. you may remember the story. his family has filed a claim against the u.s. immigration and customs enforcement agency. they say in the claim that they are suing because the gun used to kill them had been stolen from an ice agents car. we spoke with the family attorney who said he would be alive today if it were not for the recklessness of that federal agency. >> the goal for this family is something like this never happens again. this is the crime scene where the 27-year-old was killed as he was trying to beautify a gritty part of west oakland. the alleged killer, serial robber. the murder weapon stolen from a car belonging to a federal agent park in downtown san francisco. here's a picture of a similar -- of a similar one. according to a claim filed to the department of homeland security, the gun not secured in a lockbox as is policy. >> this weapon was left in a bag with three clips of ammunition, a badge, and a baton.

it was simply a goodie bag of weapons. >> the law firm representing the ramos family is also suing the federal government on behalf of the steinway family. kate was shot and killed a few months before the ramos murder. the gun that fired the fatal shot was stolen out of the car belonging to an agent with the bureau of land management. >> what we have uncovered is that this is an epidemic. >> the attorneys point of this audit addressing the problem. they found that federal agents overseen by homeland security lost 289 weapons nationwide, mostly because the firearms, including handguns, assault rifles, and shotguns were not properly city -- properly secured. >> so either the enforcement policy that exists are not strong enough or they are failing to actually enforce. >> as you heard in the story, we reached out to get the agencies

side of the story. that spokesperson would not comment on the lawsuit. as was mentioned, the other bay area filing a lawsuit is suing the city and suing the bureau of land management, claiming that san francisco's former sheriff and immigration officials allowed him to go free. she was the woman shot and killed him. 14 last july. sanchez was an undocumented immigrant who had been deported five times. the gun was stolen from a federal agents car. a surprising twist in a murder investigation that now spans two states. police say the gunman who opened fire yesterday had a kill list. three people were on that list, two of them including his wife are dead. the gunman is also dead. mary maloney has more on what we have. >> reporter: investigators say

this man had a plan to kill and he wanted people to know about it. wednesday's students and staff barricaded themselves on the campus of ucla after witnesses heard three gunshots. police say a former ucla doctoral student killed his former professor and then turned the gun on himself. police say he left a note that included his home address half a country away in minnesota. >> he requested that whoever found the note check on the cap that resided there. >> detectives found more than a cat. they found another note. >> that has been described as a kill list. that was the warning that was put on it. >> on it were three names. two professors and a woman who lived in minnesota. police went to her house and found her dead. >> from an apparent gunshot wound. >> investigators believe he killed a woman and then went to california to kill his former professors. police say potentially others who may have gotten his way. >> he was heavily armed and prepared to engage multiple

let's talk whether now. high temperatures on tap for later this afternoon. here's alive look outside the golden gate bridge. looking pretty good saturday and sunday. not as hot each day but it will go well for early june. definitely have early summer plans on tap. we will show quickly on the satellite loop, talking about the arcing jack -- jet here. one of the things you see bubbling from the south. the models not getting a lot of credence, so that might be why some of the numbers may not be as hot as we've been talking about this afternoon potentially, but the basic story still in place.

here is a look at the numbers. upper 50s around the perimeter of the day. south bay, 63 for san jose, 59 for livermore. 61 antioch and even in the north bay. middle 70s at 5000 to 7000 feet. a couple scattered thundershowers saturday and sunday. it's a little cooler sunday but as we are talking each day getting cooler. today is definitely the hot one everywhere. there you see the warm up happening. everyone shooting to 100 and so forth. they'll extend to the far east bay. along the east bay shoreline, numbers here may start to reach the lower 90s as well, and then the cool down tonight. we see a lot of the 60s spread out as lows tonight. tomorrow's warm-up coming you see it's not as aggressive as today and that will continue into sunday as well. the beaches, lower 70s. further to the south, numbers well into the 90s.

san jose with numbers in the lower 90s. 102 for today and it looks at 93 for saturday. hard to say going down to the 80s into much of next week. how is friday traffic going? it's picking up. traffic is slow, a little sluggish on the new eastern span headed into the city but looking good at the toll plaza. no problems, so overall it's a pretty good right here. 10 minutes from downtown oakland to downtown san francisco. you're right on 92 also picking up. two minutes over to the 101 connector. let's head to the golden gate bridge arriving to san francisco. it's nice and light and quiet from the north bay. no problems at all for south 101. looks like the truck is not switched the lane configuration just yet. did they switch it? no, still two lanes.
