might change the tone of the discussion. >> pam:justine waldman has been going over them. she joins us with what she has discovered about the case. >> justine:brock turner wrote to the judge. that "coming from a small town in ohio. he never really experienced celebrating or partying that involved alcohol." >> justine:the court documents. have a strong letter from the prosecutor to the judge, showing that turner lied. the documents state. not only did the evidence from his "cell phone records. clearly show he was already an experienced drinker in high school, who regularly partied. and he had routinely engaged in smoking marijuana and experimenting with other drugs, specifically acid." >> justine:the prosecution wanted turner to serve at least six years in prison. in part to hold him accountable and "protect society". and to send a message about the seriousness of this crime to others. >> justine:as you know, based on the recommendation by the probation department. turner got a sentence of 6 months. and we learned today.he will likely only serve half of it. meaning he could get out of jail before labor day.
