4:03 am
between officers. there's a former homicide investigator accused of letting his girlfriend write and post police reports online. and now we've discovered a decorated sergeant was arrested for domestic violence, something that has kept -- been kept quiet until public records request revealed it. we are learning a second alameda county d.a. investigator is on administrative leave. the alameda district attorney's office says he used to be an oakland police officer. officials say this is not connected, though, to that sex scandal that's currently being investigated, but it does have to do with inappropriate texting affecting the o.p.d. and we do know another investigator in that same office is being implicated in the sex sceal. turns out some of those scandals are interconnected. we'll break that down for you ahead. first, kron 4's alisha reed has more now on who's in charge of the oakland police department. >> we're seeing one chief after another and confusion within the inside of the department. >>reporter: the new man in charge, david downing.

4:06 am
>>reporter: kron 4 has learned that o.p.d. sergeant mike gant is connected with recent controversies and scandals at the oakland police department. most recently our sources say sergeant gant leaked racially- beamed texts that he received two years ago when he was a homicide detective. the same text that mayor liby shaft discussed on friday. >> today continues to be a day where we're sharing disturbing information with you. >>reporter: gant is currently on leave as a result of a domestic incident earlier this year involving his wife. a week ago he became the center of a criminal wrongdoing investigation surrounding his girlfriend, posting classified police documents online. but it is his connection to o.p.d. officer brendan o'brien's wife that is adding another layer to the seemingly neverending police sex scandal story. back in 2014 o'brien's wife was found dead in the couple's oakland apartment. the coroner's report says she died from a bullet fired from
4:07 am
her husband's police gun. my sources tell me that sergeant gant was the lead investigator in that case and had his doubts about brendan o'brien's alibi. however, her death was classify as a suicide. brendan o'brien killed himself a year later an left behind a note implicating himself and fellow officers in having sex with an underaged girl who is now 18 years old. now the alameda county district attorney is reviewing the investigation into the officer's wife's suicide and we may learn if there was any involvement of officer o'brien in his wife's death. in the meantime, gant is still under fire. in addition to the alleged criminal wrongdoing, our sources say gant's involvement in the exchange of racist texts is also under investigation. in oakland, hazik manu, kron 4 news. >> we will continue to stay on top of this story, both on air and online. if you'd like more information, head to our website, we have every story so far on this scandal, including the graphic

4:12 is the tierl as we take a quick -- is the time. taking a look at water world, temperatures were in the 90s for a good bit of the east bay particularly. this was the scene in concord as a lot of folks were trying to get some relief and stay cool. here's a look at people beating the heat on the city water slides there. in fact, i think my kiz are going there sometime this week too. i heard my wife talking about
4:13 am
that. this is a great week to do it. temperatures certainly appropriate for a water park. >> it's hot today, but it's also going to be hot later this week. a good point. because we're going to revisit this yet again. you know, we're going to cool down a little bit, but then we're going to warm back up. >> so the water parks will be loaded and kids and the dogs will be playing with the sprinklers and the pools and the whole bit. make sure the a.c. is running properly. that's the other issue too going on. live camera for you here this. is a view going from the golden gate bridge. we have a little bit of fog that's brewing on in, blowing on in from the coast. we're not getting much relief, however, temperature wise. so don't expect any of that going forward. but you can see a little bit in the way of some fog and kind of haze here in some spots. let's give you just a little snapshot here in the next eight hours going forward. now you can see these inland spots, temperatures about 86 or so already by high noon, big surprise on that, huh? then in the bay area we'll see about 71 for the immediate bay an the coast, well, we'll get numbers again by noon happening at about 61 by that point. but we're still looking for
4:14 am
high temperatures even at the coast to be warmer than that. here's kind of the breakdown for san jose. temps rise quickly. we start from 60, 65 by 8:00 a.m. by 10:00 we're talking 73. 81 and 86 all happening, as you can see, by 2:00. and we probably will see ultimate highs reach at about 90, even for the south bay and including areas of the far east bay too. futurecast temperatures, here comes the warmup, and look at them go, all the way through the 80s, upper 80s at that. we'll probably see the 90s still extend to that, somewhat of a conservative model run it is. we return back to the 50s, as you can see, by 4:00 a.m. for tomorrow with almost all locations back in the 50s. 61 hayward, kien of the mild spot, if you will, where in san jose is 58 at that point. as far as our fog coming in here, again, i mentioned we're getting a little bit of that spewing on in, reducing visibility levels in places such as half moon bay, napa, you can see just a touch, and in oakland, a little bit in hayward. so you got a little bit of the east bay shoreline getting hit by some of that fog again
4:15 am
