get to know us at aarp.org/possibilities. good morning everyone thank you for joining us on kron4 weekend. happy pride weekend as we take this live look outside in san francisco. see a little sunshine in the background and we want to get you caught up on the weather. it should be another lovely day around the bay and hot inland. let's check in with lauren -- lawrence. >> high pressure, a couple of patches of fog along the coastline, but plenty of sunshine in the afternoon. it will get hot and this ridge

of high pressure building in the desert southwest will bring the dry desert air. that will send some temperatures near 100 degrees. today, not that hard but hot in the interior valleys. san francisco checking in at 72 degrees. patchy fog early on, but in the afternoon you can see it is confined to the coastline. the temperatures in the valleys in the 90s. you will see a lot of 80s in the bay and the coastline in the 60s. the next few days we will see plenty of sunshine and summer heat. let's get to our top story. one of the most popular celebrations for the lgbt community in the bay area and in northern california. people come from all over the world to san francisco to take part in the today they pride celebration. this year marks the 46th year of the event and the pink

triangle one of the most iconic scenes of pride weekend. it was originally used by the nazis to identify and shame homosexuals, but it has become the symbol of gay pride. the pink triangle signifies the lb gt community ongoing fight for acceptance. this is the 21st year the pink triangle symbol has been displayed. much different and sobering look to the sears pride celebration. you will see a strong police presence everywhere. extra security at every entrance. police are taking no chances. the extra security is in response to the shooting that killed 49 people in orlando. another is what organizers believe will be one of the biggest turnouts ever. avery harper is at the parade and shows us what we can expect.>> reporter: i am sitting at the start of the parade route. just behind me is where all of

the people walking in the parade will gather in just a few hours ahead of the 10:30 start time. it is quiet now, but there are already barricades and police out here. they are gearing up for the parade that is expected to draw more than 1 million people to san francisco today. there are some things that you should expect this morning if you are attending the parade. tight security in the wake of the shootings in orlando. there will be officers in plainclothes and in uniform wondering the parade route to make sure everything is okay. they are asking parade goers if they see anything suspicious that they alert a police officer right away. police are asking that you do not bring any bags that are larger than 18 inches.

i will be here throughout the morning and hopefully talking to some people who are participating. i will be here throughout the morning to update you. the parade is set to begin at 10:30 this morning on market street and deal. a lot of street closures in san francisco. the parade will end at eight street near the civic center. more pride celebrations take place there all day long. parking in the area is going to be very difficult. on our website kron4.com we will have a full list of the street closures. we also have live traffic maps so you can check conditions.

we have a full list of all the different events going on. you can get all of this information on the kron4 mobile app. also today in the sonoma is the toyota save mart 350 and that means heavy traffic on highway 37. officials say you should try to avoid the area unless you will be attending the race. that race starts today at noon. caught on camera, the owners of a jewelry store in santa clara shared this surveillance video. this is of a burglar ransacking the business early saturday morning. >> reporter: a thief in action wasting no time breaking and. >> this is something that we were never expecting and we are just trying to recover from some of the shock and the motion. >> reporter: if not for these cameras set up throughout the jewelry store we wouldn't know

how it happened, but the entire break-in is captured from multiple angles. 20 minutes before the glass was shattered it showed the burglars drive past the business twice. then a hooded and mast the barge and. the owners believe the suspect may have been in the store because he knew exactly where to go. the jewelry cases were empty so he opted for the unlocked doors behind the counter. grabbing a few items and running off before jumping back into a newer model black sedan. a store employee whose identity we will keep confidential says these images are upsetting. >> it is frustrating. the frustration is we have been part of this community for over 18 years and it is a family owned business. for something like this to have happened it really is hard on the family. >> reporter: the burglary took 30 seconds with the alarm sounding the entire time.

>> overall it is a very good community and that's why we were taken by surprise.>> reporter: santa clara police were swarming the place looking for any clues that might lead them to the burglars. >> i think it was fantastic. very professional. >> reporter: the case is under investigation and police welcome any tips. the store owners are already -- already offering a monetary reward. we have breaking news out of the south bay. one person is dead after a car accident in san jose. it happened on southbound us highway 101 near the northbound i-280. chp says the incident happened about 4:00 this morning. they do not have much more information about how the accident happened. we will stay on top of it. still ahead on kron4 news weekend wildfires continue to burn throughout the state

for your money this morning let's take a look at stories from the week that might impact your bottom line. if you think you are paying too much for cable you probably are. that is according to two new senate reports that say satellite and cable companies are overcharging their customers. the report specifically called out time warner cable and charter communications. the reports estimate that time warner cable is overcharging customers by $2 million this year. the senate report says charter is overcharging its customers

by more than $400,000 per month. both companies say that they are working to address the issue. let's take you outside for the live look at the bay bridge. you can see plenty of sunshine. it will be a hot one. for the weekend it is off the grid picnic and food truck party. there will be 29 different food vendors all happening at the main parade grounds free to attend. we will be right back.

good morning. lots of sunshine coming our way and these temperatures are going to stay very hot especially away from the coastline. high-pressure building out of the desert southwest. that is pumping in that dry desert air. it will be a semipermanent feature for the next couple of weeks as that ridge will fluctuate a little bit. it will likely strengthen over the next few and those temperatures, some of those numbers searing -- soaring near 100 and the valleys. san francisco should check in at 72 and some mild temperatures after patchy fog. oakland is 77 degrees and san jose very warm at 89 in the afternoon. we have some fog in the early morning hours and that will start to break up as we head toward the afternoon, more sunshine on the way. it looks like some warm temperatures especially away from the coastline.

the parade today at 10:30 temperatures generally in the low 60s. mostly sunny and a cool breeze as we head into the middle of the day. there is the sonoma raceway. that will have be a great race today. expect warm temperatures, mid- 80s by noon and closer to 90 by the afternoon. highs today generally 92 and livermore, 87 in san jose. 65 in san francisco. the next few days getting hot near 100 degrees. firefighters say a series of rush fires and alameda burned a total of 211 acres. the fires were first reported about 5:00 last night. 10 miles east of livermore and all the lanes on 580 were shut down for a short time.

also in the east bay fire crews rushed to the site to put out a small brush fire. a viewer was driving along the highway and recorded this cloud of heavy black smoke. the flames were seen near willow pass road. investigators still trying to figure out the cause of the fire. it burned 40 acres before it was contained. >> we have reports that our house is standing which is a miracle. i know there are a lot of people that have had a lot of devastation. a deadly fire in california has burned more than 35,000 acres and it is only 10% contained. the wildfire is known as the erskine higher has destroyed homes. the fire is burning in lake isabella. it moved so quickly that some residents barely had time to escape.

>> the look of devastation is on these people space. they have oxygen. all i have is what i have on. >> we start over the ridge and within 20 minutes it was here. our house was on fire. >> it is unbelievable. i have never seen this much damage appear. >> two bodies were recovered on friday. governor. brown declared a state of emergency and that frees up money and resources to fight the fire. more than 1100 firefighters are battling the flames. bricking it back to the bay area, in the east bay a massive house fire under control, but not before it burned one home and damaged others. the flames were fueled by wind and dry brush. it started about 5:30 yesterday afternoon the three alarm fire

also ignited grass around the house. the damage estimated at $650,000, no one was hurt. another fire led to an arrest of two men that were running a grow house. they grow house was two doors down from the home that was a complete loss from the fire. neighbors say they suspected the house was a grow house for several years. and bay area news, kron4 is following up on great white shark that was spotted in the water friday morning. now there are signs alerting people that the shark could still be around. as kron4 is spencer lake reports no one seems scared. >> reporter: from the sites that the sure it looked like any other day at the beach except for a few warnings in the sand. >> we didn't hear about it but we read the sign. >> reporter: report of a shark

in the water and people fled to the beach in a steady stream all day. >> came here to enjoy the beach. >> i just thought it was a nice day and wanted to come out and enjoy the sun. >> reporter: a ranger patrolling the shore tells me to people saw the shark yesterday. no one got hurt. it wasn't the first time someone spotted a ferocious fish here. >> i watched a couple of seals city and 25 yards from a. >> reporter: he signs didn't stop the people it may have kept them closer to the sand. >> we knew we were going that far the water so our concerned we were worried but i saw a lot of people are traveling far out in the water. >> the sharks are out there and usually don't bother anybody. i have seen them out in this particular beach. >> reporter: by monday the signs will be gone as long as there is no other sign of sharks over the weekend. spencer blake kron4 news. still ahead on kron4 news

the coastline will be in the 60s. for the next few days we will see plenty of sunshine and some hot summer heat. cool things down next weekend. get back to the news. in the east bay a police cadet is recovering from an injury after a traffic stop in concord elk someone through a firecracker at him. alecia read reports there were dozens of witnesses, but no one is speaking out. >> reporter: a traffic stop in did with a cadet in the hospital. >> it is dangerous. >> reporter: officers continue to patrol. there were about a dozen people standing around the area. >> he was arresting and all of a sudden they heard a loud pop. >> reporter: a firecracker similar to a quarter stick of dynamite was thrown in the

officers direction. a 20-year-old police cadet that was in training got hit. >> it was right next to him. >> reporter: no one in the neighborhood had any interest in talking to us on camera. they were not about to snatch they said. everyone in the vicinity was detained and questioned. >> at the end of it no one will determine who through it. it just shows the danger that is out there. we have to be aware. >> reporter: the cadet was treated for leg injury and released shortly after. >> that could really have done damage. >> reporter: i am told this incident did not deter the cadet from wanting to become a police officer in fact it set his heart on that goal. in the meantime anyone with information that could help lead towards arrest is urged to call police. alecia read kron4 news. happening now, california law enforcement officials say they are checking cars for

illegal out-of-state fireworks. authorities say they are keeping an eye out for firework smugglers, people bringing an fireworks from out of state has been a big problem in california. agents are checking cars at the california nevada border. they are also confiscating any illegal fireworks. there have been over 2500 fires at buildings and wildfires from illegal fireworks in the past five years alone. >> they didn't ask us if we had any coolers or anything specific. they just want to look in the trailer. >> authorities in california have already seized tens of thousands of pounds of illegal fireworks. we have an update to a story we first brought you earlier this week. a 21-year-old man that fell from the ledge at oracle arena is now able to talk. j.r. stone spoke with the man's father who tells us his health is improving, but his son has a long way to go.>> reporter: this picture of the 21-year-old

is taken this week at highland hospital. he fell from a ledge inside the arena after game seven of the nba finals. his father tells kron4 news that his son is now able to talk. earlier this week he told us what his other son witness. >> my 12-year-old son told me that somebody picked him up from his legs and pushed him over while he was recording. there was a fight and that someone pushed him over the ledge. >> reporter: oakland police detectives tell us they are still trying to determine if a crime was committed, but his father says his son is now telling him there was a fight and he was pushed. as for his injuries- >> my sons cheekbone is smash, his nose, his upper eye, his head, his brain, he is leaking blood from his ears. >> it happened in the arena but

seen. >> reporter: it took hours for the elk river to turn this down into a big mess. it will take longer to clean it up. flooding not seen since records have been kept floodwaters tearing through homes and businesses. >> we were in extreme danger and all i could do was get my family to the second floor and hope that the foundation and structure of this house was a strong enough to withstand the storm. >> reporter: now it is all about the cleanup. with help from everyone people are sorting through what can be salvaged and what cannot. this area has seen flooding before but nothing like this. >> everything is destroyed. >> reporter: west virginians are stepping up donating close, cleaning supplies and water. >> i have seen what floods can do and i had to get down here and make sure that everyone was taken care of your>> reporter: the national guard has been activated and federal

the published calendar of the house of representatives has its last session as july 15 and they don't get back until september 6. an almost eight- week break. international news the uk voted last week for brexit and now some brits are regretting it. they are signing an online petition and demanding a do over . the petition already collected more than 2 million signatures on the official parliament website and it is far above threshold for lawmakers to begin a debate. some voters who supported brexit they tweeted that they change their mind. reddish lawmakers said on twitter that parliament members will be looking into the petition on tuesday. donald trump is trying to downplay americans fears about the possible financial fallout from britain's boat to leave the eu. the stock market and global markets all took a major plans following thursday's leave vote

take a look at this. hundreds of people out celebrating the 240th birthday of the city of san francisco. yesterday was the anniversary of the founding of the presidio park. descendents of the founding family returned to honor the journey of their ancestors and the founding. some people even got into character for the event. >> im for train one of the chaplains who came to found the city. >> city officials say this was one of the celebrations best turnouts. descendents returned to the presidio every june to celebrate this event. a five-year-old boy failed to can vent -- invents george bush to give broccoli a second chance. remember bush said that he was

the burglars drive past the business on stevens creek boulevard twice before a hooded and masked thief barges in. the owners believe the suspect may have been in the store before because he knew exactly where to go. the jewelry cases were empty, so he opted for the unlocked drawers behind the counter, grabbing a few items and running off before jumping back into a newer model black sedan, the get away driver speeding away. the store employee, whose identity we will keep confidential says this is up setting. >> it is frustrating and the frustration is we have been part of this community for over 18 years and it is a family-owned business, for something like this to happen, it really is hard on the family. >> in all, the burglary took just 30 seconds with the alarm sounding the entire time. >> overall, it is a very good community and that is why we were taken by surprise. >> soon after, santa clara

days, cooling toward next weekend. >> thank you. lets get to breaking news this morning, firefighters are battling a warehouse fire in san francisco's bay view yashd, these are photos of the fire just sent into the kron4 newsroom. the fire start ed 7:30 this morning near industrial and loomis street. people are advised to avoid the area. no word on injuries or a cause just yet. firefighters say that a series of brush fires in alameda county burned a total of 211 acres, those blazes were first reported about 5:00 yesterday off of interstate 580, about 10 miles east of livermore. all the lanes of westbound 580 were shut down for a short time as cal-fire fought the flames. also in the east bay, fire crews rushed to the side of highway 4 in bay point to put out a small brush fire.

a kron4 viewer was driving along the highway and recorded this cloud of heavy black smoke. the flames were seen mere willow pass-- near willow pass road and highway 4. investigators are still trying to figure the cause, the flames burned 40 acres before contained. >> we have reports that our house is standing, which is quite a miracle. i know there is a lot of people that have had a lot of devastation and loss. >> a deadly fire in central california burned more than 35,000 acres since thursday. it is only 10% contained this morning. the wildfire known as the erskine fire has destroyed 150 homes, 2500 homes remain threatened, the fire is burning in kern county off erskine creek road in lake isabella. some residents barely had time to escape. >> the look of devastation is on these people's face, lady sitting there with oxygen tank.

i lost everything, all i have what i got on. >> we saw it, and within 20 minutes it was there. our house was on fire. >> just unbelievable. i have never seen this much damage from a fire up here. >> 2 bodies were recovered on friday, governor brown declaring a state of emergency for kern county. that frees up money and resources to fight the fire. more than 1100 firefighters still battling those flames. in the east bay, a massive house fire is now under control but not before it destroyed one home and damaged 5 others in antioch, fire officials say the flames were fueled by wind and dry brush. it started about 5:30 saturday afternoon near berwood way, the 3 alarm fire also ignited grass around the home. the damage estimated at $650,000, but no one was hurt. that fire on berwood way led to the arrest of 2 men that

were running a grow house, allegedly. their home was untouched by the fire but authorities found the 2-story house filled with marijuana plants. the grow house was 2 doors down from the home that was a complete loss. neighbors say they suspected the home was a grow house for the past couple years. in more bay area news, following up oen the great white shark spotted at pacifica state beach friday morning, there are still signs alerting people that the shark could still be around. as kron4's spencer blake reports, nobody seems scared at all. >> reporter: from the sight of the shore, it looked like any other day at the beach, except a few warnings in the sand. shoo we did not hear, but we read the sign. >> despite the report of a shark, people flockd to the sand and surf in a steady stream all day. >> doesn't change it one bit, came here to enjoy the beach. >> i just thought it was a nice day, wanted to just hang out, enjoy the sun. >> a public works ranger tells

law enforcement officials say that they are checking cars for illegal out of state fireworks ahead of the 4-earth of july holiday. authorities say they are keeping an eye out for firefighter smugglers, people brenging in firefighter from out of-- bringing in fireworks from out of state has been a big problem and agents are checking cars at the california/nevada border. there have been over 2500 fires from illegal fireworks the past 5 years alone. >> didn't ask us if we had coolers, didn't ask anything specific, whether we had anything, they just want to look into the trailer. >> authorities in california seized tens of thousands of pounds of illegal fireworks. an update on a story we brought you earlier this week, a 21-year-old man who fell from a ledge at oracle arena is now able to talk. kron4's j.r. stone spoke with the man's father who tells us his health is improving but his son still has a long way to go.
