fo in our top story, 41 people dead and another 239 others hurt after a terror attack at europe's 3rd busiest airport in istanbul. one terrorist is seen running and detonating an explosive. stephanie has more. >> reporter: there were three bombs that went off inside of istanbul's airport yesterday evening. three attackers carried bombs when they entered the airport and opened fire and detonated themselves. at this point we still have no

official claim of responsibility. the passengers at istanbul's airport scrambled terrified as three gunmen attacked the airport. two were they national terminal and the 3rd in a parking lot. the preliminary findings suggest all three opened fire before detonating explosive vests. video from inside the terminal shows people fleeing bright flashes and in one clip, a gunman is apparently shot by security officer and drops to the floor. a few seconds later, there is an explosion. witnesses describe the sense of confusion and fear inside the airport. i tried to keep as calm as possible but you know there was a lot of people falling down on the grounds and not knowing what is going on. >> i just recognized the gunshots and heard this huge explosion and i knew immediately it was a bomb. and i just bolted as fast as i can. >> multiple u.s. officials say isis is suspected to behind the

attack but there has not yet been a claim of responsibility. the terrorists have called for attacks in the holy month of rom na don in its third weeks. >> we are trying to figure out what happened and who did it and i won't comment further except to say that this is daily fare and that's why i say the first challenge to face is countering nonstate violent actors. >> at the airport it was closed overnight and the faa has lifted a requirement for a ground stop between istanbul and the united states. i'm stacy ko han, back to you. the presidential candidates have weighed in via twitter. hillary clinton tweeted "all turkey against this q'.campaig!

hate red and violence "donald trump quoted will the ófworld realize what is going on, so sad. before we get to more of the news let's get you caught up on bay area weather and for that we will hand it over to dave and find out about the forecast. >> talking about the inland spots, we are shaving a little bit off and it will start to today. here is a live look at sfo, we are tracking fog to make note of a little bit today in typical fashion. weak onshore that we have here and inland folks won get a lot of relief for today. here is a look at the fog tracker as we look overnight and not too much of the fog lifting. it is along the peninsula and you can see towards the north bay and venturing across it looks like the bay a little bit. let's go with the temperatures. 64 for antioch and 56, oakland

and 57 for hayward. our temperature change is a few degrees cooler today, it may not feel like it but a few cooler than yesterday. 6-degree behind and 7 for livermore and on the east bay shoreline a couple of degrees shaved off and downtown san francisco losing a degree off to a good start. oakland mile and temperatures as the temperatures go to the upper 60s and lower 70s. for the forecast to break it down for different locations, san francisco at 60, oakland at 69 for an ultimate high and 88 looking for a high down to san jose. now the forecast does continue to show the heating going on for the inland valleys you can see the colorization here. maybe popping 100 degrees or so and that will probably be maybe sparse for immediate viewing but off to, you can see the central valley. along the east bay shoreline, noticeably cooler as we see the green color and as well as the peninsula too. then the cool down, yes, we are getting some of the greens,

o4:30 tuesday night missing the deadly attack by 8 hours and some went through a rigorous screening beforehand. >> we switched from one flight to another and got checked 3 or 4 times and they were doing pat- downs and baggage searches. >> hours later a bomb went off at turkey's largest airport. now san francisco international airport officials say their security is on alert. >> i think what you can expect to see immediately at sfo is a sense of heightened vigilance and you can expect to see already increased patrols by uniformed officers in the terminal and out on the roadways. >> for now no drastic security plans at sfo in action. >> but in terms of longer standing and more systemic types of changes, we are gathering information and understanding what occurred there. and here you are looking into apparent isis propaganda video that features san francisco landmarks. we talked to security experts about what it could signal. we will have more at 4:30.

hot spot free. back to you james. out to the east bay where tragedy has struck the east bay. two teenage girls hit by a car killing one of them. happened in oakley and we have a map of the crash. on a rural stretch of east cypress road. alisha reed has the latest on the investigation. walking along the side of the road, resulted in tragedy, one girl is dead and another in critical condition. investigators canvassed the area for hours searching for details in the deadly pedestrian accident. police say before 3:00 both girls walking 71 on east cypress near bethel island when a car heading in the same direction slammed into them. emergency services got to the scene within four minutes. but it was too late for one of the girls. she had succumbed to her injuries. the second victim was air lifted to oakland children's

hospital. now police after hitting the car the car careened and hit a ditch. hours in the investigation, the coroner showed up to remove the victim from shrubbery on the side of the road. the driver was taken away in a police cruiser, the vehicle involved was towed away. reporting in oakley kron4 now. two bay area fathers had to work as their wives and children died in a minivan outside of los angeles. the father's aaron hong and 45- year-old weja lee escaped the van after the crash and the duo was in the driver and passenger seat. the wives and both of their two children were killed police say a semitruck rear-ended the minivan and pushed the car off of the freeway that burst in flames. the men suffered burns and being treated for moderate

injuries at an area hospital. police on the hunt for a killer. another person in critical condition. we have the details. this is new video showing the area where a shooter fired multiple gunshots leaving a man wounded inside the minivan. witnesses say it happened in the street outside the fraternity and sorority houses at san jose university. >> i hear a quick three to five gunshots it was like a bop bop and then bop bop bop bop. >> joshua rasodo is in a fraternity at san jose state and when he ran outside he could see there were multiple people in the minivan. in front seat it looked to be a young mexican male shot multiple times and his friend holding him and yelling him to stay with him and stay awake but it didn't seem like that

was happening. >> no arrests made but at at least two witnesses described seeing an suv speed away from the scene. possibly a white or silver chevy equinox. a man with a black hat was driving and it came as a surprise to everybody that lives here. >> this is greek road. right in front of our houses in range of gunfire. police looking for a gunman in another san jose shooting. this happened monday night at 9:00 on cape ashton copy. when police arrived they found one person dead and no description of a suspect has been released and still waiting floor information to come out. meanwhile in redwood city one firefighter hurt battling a condo fire. it happened at 7:00 yesterday on farmhill boulevard near kinyata college. you can see the firefighter

trying to fight the fire. the firefighter hurt was taken to the hospital and released and is expected to make a full recovery. meanwhile a building fire in vallejo forced crews to knock down part of the structure to reach the flames. it happened yesterday, the building near wallace and lincoln west right near i-80. firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire at 11:00 in the morning. there were downed power lines in the area and so they had to deal with that. nobody was injured. that's some good news and not clear how the fire began and let you know when investigators make that determination. let's turn our attention to politics. decision 2016. the republicans have released the findings on the 2012 terror attacks in libya that killed four americans including chris stevens that was killed. no real bombshells in the report but there's plenty of finger pointing. a two year investigation, 800 plus page report and still

no new bombshells from the special house benghazi committee. >> while our guys were on the ground taking gunfire and mortar attacks washington was moving at a snail's pace. >> the report does include new interviews and recommendations but no major revelations. no smoking gun, if you will that directly implicates former secretary of state hillary clinton. >> i wrote the report that i think is centered in the facts. >> but it does argue that clinton should have realized the risks and addendum released by two conservative members is about clinton and critical of her and the obama administration blaming the attack on the "tragic failure of leadership." >> when secretary clinton says what difference does it make, we can now as a result of our work over the last year-and-a- half tell you exactly what difference it makes. it makes a difference in how you respond to an attack. >> democrats on the committee call the report a conspiracy theory on steroids. clinton brushed it off today. >> i will leave it to others to

have left a number of people killed and injured. there is an isis propaganda video that focuses on san francisco. the video has been circulating online and shots of the golden gate bridge and some other san francisco landmarks. right now the f.b.i. says it is evaluating the video and where it originated. kron4 talked with an expert that says it may in fire a lone wolf attack like the one in orlando. >> this is the isis propaganda video that focuses on such high profile places in san francisco such as the golden gate bridge. >> i think that the concern is that it is someone that is taking this video and it has the appearance of being real. >> rick smith is a former f.b.i. agent and he says the bureau looks at this kind of propaganda dissecting each frame for valuable clues. >> we have a look at what other intelligent sources and human intelligence and technical intelligence would give them in terms of what is happening in san francisco.

they would look at sources that they had and suspects and they would look at traffic and they would look at all sorts of stuff. the local f.b.i. office is saying right now that they do not believe that the video poses a credible threat. however, smith says that the release of the video and the arabic attack such as the case of omar ma teen, the gunman in orlando. >> if something is suspicious it should be report to the f.b.i. >> you have to understand we have been a nation under attack for many years. >> san francisco police spokesperson carlos freddy says it is critical these day on the heels of orlando in general to be extra cautious. >> we always say if you see something, say something. better to be cautious than complainant. >> at the golden gate bridge

tourists say that they are always on the alert. i think in these times you do have to be more alert in the day of our surroundings unfortunately. another bay area headline california voters will decide the fate of recreational marijuana in the state this coming november. it could mean the entire west cost would have legalized pot sales. kron4 spencer blake has details on this initiative. >> secretary of state alex baduda says proponents of legalized marijuana got more than enough signatures to get it on the november ballot. the same thing that california voters turned down in 2010. this time it does have plenty of funding and support from big names including former facebook president sean parker. here is how it would work. if it passes 21 an older people can buy an ounce of marijuana but it has to come from licensed outlets and adults could grow marijuana plants up to 6 for personal use but

nobody would be able to smoke pot in any place where tobacco is already outlawed, that would be restaurants and bars and other closed places. it could be a big moneymaker for the state. the lieutenant governor's office has been backing an initiative like this one for a couple of years now. we sort of led the pack in terms of his support but i think you know that the rest of the country seems to be catching up with him increasingly there has been growing -- a growing ma the jo of californiaians that have demanded and asked for a new approach to marijuana policy in california. local governments would still have some say on this because counties and cities could ill prohibit pot in their areas if they wanted to or if they allow it. they could add additional taxes and fees. so far this year the only two or states that have a legalized recreational pot measure on november's ballot are nevada and maine.

great ride and coming out of the south bay on the quad da loupe a quick trip from 85 to 101. 4: 49. this week kron4 news taking part in unprecedented media event where 71 media outlets joining forces to spotlight on the homeless problem in san francisco and the bay area. taking a closer look at a new measure on the november ballot to allow law enforcement to remove homeless in certain encampments. spencer blake spoke with the coalition on homelessness and some people that say it won't solve the problem. >> the homeless problem is not going anywhere in san francisco but the tent cities might be depending on a vote this fall. supervisor farrell's plan would let police clear out encampments as long as they provide written notice 24 hours ahead of time. the city would have to open a bed or shelter before telling

the passengers at the istanbul airport scrambled. terrified as gunmen attacked the airport. two were at the international tournament -- terminal and the third was in a nearby parking lot. all three open fire before detonating explosives. video from inside the terminal shows people fleeing and bright spot -- and bright flashes. at one point i gunmen shot by security officer and drops to the floor. a few seconds later, there is an explosion. witnesses described confusion and fair -- fear inside the airport.>> there were people falling on the ground calling out. >> i recognize the gunshots and there was a huge explosion and a new immediately that it was a bomb. i bolted as fast as i could.>> reporter: isis is expected to be behind the attack.

it brought daylight in oakley. >> one girl died and the other is in critical condition.>> reporter: it is a nightmare for any parent. one teenager dead and another in critical condition following a deadly crash in oakley. this is video from the scene. it happened about 2:45 in the afternoon where the teenage girls, ages 15 and 17 were walking through an area with no sidewalks. that's when they were struck by woman driving a station wagon. her car ran off the road it was found 150 yards away in a field. one teen was found dead and did not have id on her. police are working to identify her. the other teenager was airlifted to a hospital in oakland where she is being treated for serious injuries. the driver has been detained at not charged with anything. they have not released her

identity. police are checking to see if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash and they are not sure of that yet. i will be here in alameda to as parents about what they are doing to keep their kids safe, especially after school is let out this year.>> we will check back with you later, avery. two women and four children were killed in a fiery crash in southern california. two the area fathers had to watch as their kids -- bay area fathers had to watch as their kids died in a crash. this happened on i-5 in the community of gorman. they hit a bmw. they were stopped on the right shoulder as the fathers were outside of the vehicle. a big rig came and smashed into the minivan and pushes down an embankment where caught fire. the fathers were from san francisco and daly city yuri they try to get to their wives and children to get them out of

-- speaking out about the investigation into an east bay special needs school. this came after kron 4 had a special report on al of the gate -- allegations about abuse at tobin world. you can see a teacher's aid getting physical with a nine- year-old student. the investigation was initiated by the bureau of justice. it investigates the treatment of children with disabilities or possible civil rights violations. we did not have specifics about the investigation, but we do know that investigators are looking for more victims. >> to encourage victims to come forward and to let the public know that these children do matter. we want to know what is going on with them and we are concerned. we are doing something about it. >> reporter: so far, tobin world has not responded to the claims. one parent filed a lawsuit against the school for the way her son was treated. the attorney. general. said that parents can come forward through the bureau of justice website . we have

with dozens of media outlets to put light on the issue. all lanes of highway 17 in the santa cruz mountains are open after the wildfire croaked -- close both sides of the highway as we reported on the kron 4 morning news. one southbound lane of highway 17 was still closed all yesterday morning right up until last night as firefighters were watching for hot spots. at one point on monday, the highway was completely shut down because it was so close to the fire. you could see the smoke in this video from the helicopter in our partnership with abc 7 news. you can see the homes that were saved. investigators say that the fire started as a car fire and spread to nearby brush and trees. the fourth of july is around the corner and firefighters are worried about illegal fireworks this year with the increase fire risk a rock -- across california.>>

it happened early yesterday morning on i-5 in gorman. the minivan hate bmw and was stopped on the right hand shoulder. shortly after, a big rig barreled into the back of the minivan pushing it down a embank man where it burst into flames. the fathers were in the front seat and smashed by the big rig. they were able to get out and tried to rescue the wiebs and children but weren't able to because of the intensity of the fire. the two men were airlifted to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries. big rig driver was not injured. happening right now, police in the south bay are look for the person who shot and killed a man near the san jose state university campus. james fletcher is at the breaking news desk with details. >> reporter: that shooting happened outside several fraternity and sorority houses near campus. one man was killed and another was injured. and this is video from the scene and you can see damage to the window here on the side of the vehicle. the shooter is still on loose this morning. so police are desperately

before they collided and he is lee covering -- recovering at the hospital but the other three are still unaccounted for. the ntsb is investigating the crash and we are getting word the federal railroad administration says it has aninvestigator on-site as well. this is two agencies hopefully will get to the bottom of this. and as we get new details we will come back. firefighters recovering from injuries after a condo fire in redwood city that started around 7 yesterday morning on farm hill bull vard. the fire burned -- boulevard. fire burned on the top floor of a 3 story condo complex. the firefighter was injured and putting the fire out and taken to the hospital for treatment. in vallejo a fire destroyed a shed and carport near interstate 80 after 11 yesterday morning on wallace avenue near livingon -- lincoln road west. they don't know what was in the carport or shed because they were completely burned down.

and there's downed power lines in that area which made it difficult for the firefighters to do their jobs and investigators think the fire may have been started by a cigarette. over the weekend the cigarette sparked another fire that destroyed one home and damaged others in antioch. to a story only on kron 4 police need help finding people involved in a violent armed robbery on january 17th at five guys restaurant in the clayton valley shopping center. we obtain the surveillance video of the robbery. investigators have not shown the images to the public until now. >> yeah so this was the robbery that happened in january and it is a case that went cold. because there's no further investigative lead. so, oftentimes every few months investigators open the cases again they go through the reports and any evidence that we have and we like to put the information out there if we have nothing else. luck will you no one was is you

rock bottom with majority of the nations ranking him in the single digits. and confidence in hillary clinton on the other hand was right around 59% on average. so interesting numbers coming in this morning. guys. >> thanks james. it's 6:35. state attorney general kamala harris is speak about the investigation into east bay special needs school after a kron 4 special report on allegations of abuse at that school called tobin world in antioch and in the video you see a teacher's aide getting physical with a 9-year-old student. the investigation was launched by the bureau of children's justice focusing on tobin world and the treatment of students with disabilities. and investigators are looking for potential civil rights violations. harris couldn't give specifics about the investigation but she says investigators are looking for more victims. >> to encourage victims to come forward. and to let the public know that these children do matter. we want to know what's going on

with them and we are concerned and we are doing something about it. >> so far tobin world has not responded to the allegations. one parent filed a lawsuit against the school for the way her son was treated. attorney general harris says victims can come forward through the bureau of children's justice website. we have posted that link on kron 4.com. and three reputed gangs members are behind bars in connection with a deadly shooting in san leandro. a 28-year-old was shot outside the san leandro senior community center at 7:30 in the evening on may 16th. here's video from the scene. investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a long- standing feud between rival factions of the gang. about 40 to 50 people were attending the first communion party for a baby at the senior center and he was shot outside he was a member of the gang. and a minivan was seen speeding out of the parking lot and

well come back to the kron 4 -- welcome back to the kron 4 morning news it's 6:40. it continues to pick up it's backed up behind the toll plaza and there's heavy traffic on the bridge because of an accident on the skyway. this is westbound at 5th so it's backed up on the suspension through the tunnel. and here behind the toll plaza this backup reaches the foot of the maze so much heavier traffic coming in and your drive time 22 to 25 minutes from the maze to the skyway and i will keep an eye on the crash and let you know when it is out of the way. bear runs across the highway in missouri and gets hit by a truck traveling 65 miles an hour and the bear bounces right up. watch this. watch this. that's how strong a bear is my god he takes off running. the whole thing caught on a police officer's dash cam video recorder. according to the highway patrol, the bear actually was uninjured. look at it again isn't that

mow at 91. step by step and we drop off heading into the weekend. we have a bit of an onshore flow so maybe coasta drizzle in the morning patchy at that mixing out to a mostly sunny afternoon. so, don't worry about that. bay area temperatures mid-70s. and then into early next week we warm up temporarily on monday. tuesday how about the 86 going on for the inland valleys and chilly at the coast. robin what's going on with traffic. >> reporter: slow traffic into san francisco thanks to an incident on the skyway. it continues to back up behind the toll plaza. trns out it's not a crash it's -- turns out it's not a crash it's stall someone ran out of gas blocking the right lane and backing up across the upper deck through the toll plaza and pretty crowded coming out of the maze. so, now it's holding at the maze and 25 minutes into san francisco. and once again that stall is cleared so that should loosen up. there it is once the stall clears out of the way on the skyway should pick up heading on the bay bridge into san francisco. it's not a bad ride. it's just slow because of that.
