fo in our top story, 41 people dead and another 239 others hurt after a terror attack at europe's 3rd busiest airport in istanbul. one terrorist is seen running and detonating an explosive. stephanie has more. >> reporter: there were three bombs that went off inside of istanbul's airport yesterday evening. three attackers carried bombs when they entered the airport and opened fire and detonated themselves. at this point we still have no

official claim of responsibility. the passengers at istanbul's airport scrambled terrified as three gunmen attacked the airport. two were they national terminal and the 3rd in a parking lot. the preliminary findings suggest all three opened fire before detonating explosive vests. video from inside the terminal shows people fleeing bright flashes and in one clip, a gunman is apparently shot by security officer and drops to the floor. a few seconds later, there is an explosion. witnesses describe the sense of confusion and fear inside the airport. i tried to keep as calm as possible but you know there was a lot of people falling down on the grounds and not knowing what is going on. >> i just recognized the gunshots and heard this huge explosion and i knew immediately it was a bomb. and i just bolted as fast as i can. >> multiple u.s. officials say isis is suspected to behind the

attack but there has not yet been a claim of responsibility. the terrorists have called for attacks in the holy month of rom na don in its third weeks. >> we are trying to figure out what happened and who did it and i won't comment further except to say that this is daily fare and that's why i say the first challenge to face is countering nonstate violent actors. >> at the airport it was closed overnight and the faa has lifted a requirement for a ground stop between istanbul and the united states. i'm stacy ko han, back to you. the presidential candidates have weighed in via twitter. hillary clinton tweeted "all turkey against this q'.campaig!

hate red and violence "donald trump quoted will the ófworld realize what is going on, so sad. before we get to more of the news let's get you caught up on bay area weather and for that we will hand it over to dave and find out about the forecast. >> talking about the inland spots, we are shaving a little bit off and it will start to today. here is a live look at sfo, we are tracking fog to make note of a little bit today in typical fashion. weak onshore that we have here and inland folks won get a lot of relief for today. here is a look at the fog tracker as we look overnight and not too much of the fog lifting. it is along the peninsula and you can see towards the north bay and venturing across it looks like the bay a little bit. let's go with the temperatures. 64 for antioch and 56, oakland

and 57 for hayward. our temperature change is a few degrees cooler today, it may not feel like it but a few cooler than yesterday. 6-degree behind and 7 for livermore and on the east bay shoreline a couple of degrees shaved off and downtown san francisco losing a degree off to a good start. oakland mile and temperatures as the temperatures go to the upper 60s and lower 70s. for the forecast to break it down for different locations, san francisco at 60, oakland at 69 for an ultimate high and 88 looking for a high down to san jose. now the forecast does continue to show the heating going on for the inland valleys you can see the colorization here. maybe popping 100 degrees or so and that will probably be maybe sparse for immediate viewing but off to, you can see the central valley. along the east bay shoreline, noticeably cooler as we see the green color and as well as the peninsula too. then the cool down, yes, we are getting some of the greens,

marching into those inland valleys, a little bit better progress this go around from this night than last night. temperatures up to 82 for the inlands and about the noon hour, 65 covering the bay and 55, chilly at the coast. we will look at the extended forecast and let you know about the holiday weekend. let's check on 80 heading to san francisco. a live look at the bay land toll plaza. if you need to come in great time, no problems at the pay gates and a good ride across. there is some cal tran work underway on the suspension and one lane off and it will not block your ride. 92 a live look at the san mateo bridge out of hayward fine, san mateo 101 and 280 looking good. no problems from the north bay, south 101 is fine under 25

minutes to get innevada over to san francisco. checking in on the sensors, looking good from the 24. no problems from the east shore, the mccarthy out of san leandro to oakland. james. robin, thank you. at 4: 05 security at san francisco international airport is on alert following the tragic news out of istanbul. we spoke with travelers and airport officials that say there is heightened presence of law enforcement. following the deadly attack in turkey's largest airport. >> i was upset to my stomach, very sad. >> reporter: bay area travelers returning from istanbul are relieved to make it home but devastated for the at least 36 people killed in turkey's airport. >> we were standing in the same spot where the bombing was because we left with our luggage and stepped out and we caught our cab. right there. it didn't feel great. scary. >> the passengers arrived at sf

o4:30 tuesday night missing the deadly attack by 8 hours and some went through a rigorous screening beforehand. >> we switched from one flight to another and got checked 3 or 4 times and they were doing pat- downs and baggage searches. >> hours later a bomb went off at turkey's largest airport. now san francisco international airport officials say their security is on alert. >> i think what you can expect to see immediately at sfo is a sense of heightened vigilance and you can expect to see already increased patrols by uniformed officers in the terminal and out on the roadways. >> for now no drastic security plans at sfo in action. >> but in terms of longer standing and more systemic types of changes, we are gathering information and understanding what occurred there. and here you are looking into apparent isis propaganda video that features san francisco landmarks. we talked to security experts about what it could signal. we will have more at 4:30.

expecting, a little bit of fog. >> and hovering the little place. over the golden gate bridge and as we finish the week we have a reduction in temperatures and we talked about. there may be patches of morning drizzle among the immediate coast, something to take in mind if that is part of your weekend plans. a little part of the morning drizzle and fog and common indicating that the high is starting to weaken. temperatures is 56 for oakland and 64 for antioch and 60 for livermore. and 59 for san jose as we had talked earlier the numbers are better than yesterday at this time. we are actually a few degree cooler and we will go ahead and take that an 6 degrees cooler in concord and 7 for livermore. everybody is a little cooler today than yesterday. as we say in the trade the

temperatures are flatning. we do have a to have in the northwest. inviting an onshore flow. the pattern has been in place. the southeast flow has been the monsoon pattern cut off the lofty temperatures in the southwest. isolated thundershowers and will do so along the mountains if you are headed to yosemite. you may pick up an isolated shower. 60 for san francisco downtown and twin peaks. 79 for palo alto and pacifica 61 and san mateo 71. half-moon bay at 56 and 88 san jose and santa clara at 84. mountains, 69 for oakland.

78 for hayward and 92 for danville and 92 for pleasanton. >> traffic is looking good. set off with a ride on 92. if you need to get across the san mateo bridge, a nice ride out of hayward from the nemitz freeway. smooth on west 91 continuing to the peninsula a good commute from the north bay and 15 minutes from central san rafael to the central side of the bridge. nothing but green all around. 580 looks good and the nemitz smooth out of hayward to union city and down towards the fremont area. 237, 101, 87 all checking in

hot spot free. back to you james. out to the east bay where tragedy has struck the east bay. two teenage girls hit by a car killing one of them. happened in oakley and we have a map of the crash. on a rural stretch of east cypress road. alisha reed has the latest on the investigation. walking along the side of the road, resulted in tragedy, one girl is dead and another in critical condition. investigators canvassed the area for hours searching for details in the deadly pedestrian accident. police say before 3:00 both girls walking 71 on east cypress near bethel island when a car heading in the same direction slammed into them. emergency services got to the scene within four minutes. but it was too late for one of the girls. she had succumbed to her injuries. the second victim was air lifted to oakland children's

hospital. now police after hitting the car the car careened and hit a ditch. hours in the investigation, the coroner showed up to remove the victim from shrubbery on the side of the road. the driver was taken away in a police cruiser, the vehicle involved was towed away. reporting in oakley kron4 now. two bay area fathers had to work as their wives and children died in a minivan outside of los angeles. the father's aaron hong and 45- year-old weja lee escaped the van after the crash and the duo was in the driver and passenger seat. the wives and both of their two children were killed police say a semitruck rear-ended the minivan and pushed the car off of the freeway that burst in flames. the men suffered burns and being treated for moderate

injuries at an area hospital. police on the hunt for a killer. another person in critical condition. we have the details. this is new video showing the area where a shooter fired multiple gunshots leaving a man wounded inside the minivan. witnesses say it happened in the street outside the fraternity and sorority houses at san jose university. >> i hear a quick three to five gunshots it was like a bop bop and then bop bop bop bop. >> joshua rasodo is in a fraternity at san jose state and when he ran outside he could see there were multiple people in the minivan. in front seat it looked to be a young mexican male shot multiple times and his friend holding him and yelling him to stay with him and stay awake but it didn't seem like that

was happening. >> no arrests made but at at least two witnesses described seeing an suv speed away from the scene. possibly a white or silver chevy equinox. a man with a black hat was driving and it came as a surprise to everybody that lives here. >> this is greek road. right in front of our houses in range of gunfire. police looking for a gunman in another san jose shooting. this happened monday night at 9:00 on cape ashton copy. when police arrived they found one person dead and no description of a suspect has been released and still waiting floor information to come out. meanwhile in redwood city one firefighter hurt battling a condo fire. it happened at 7:00 yesterday on farmhill boulevard near kinyata college. you can see the firefighter

trying to fight the fire. the firefighter hurt was taken to the hospital and released and is expected to make a full recovery. meanwhile a building fire in vallejo forced crews to knock down part of the structure to reach the flames. it happened yesterday, the building near wallace and lincoln west right near i-80. firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire at 11:00 in the morning. there were downed power lines in the area and so they had to deal with that. nobody was injured. that's some good news and not clear how the fire began and let you know when investigators make that determination. let's turn our attention to politics. decision 2016. the republicans have released the findings on the 2012 terror attacks in libya that killed four americans including chris stevens that was killed. no real bombshells in the report but there's plenty of finger pointing. a two year investigation, 800 plus page report and still

no new bombshells from the special house benghazi committee. >> while our guys were on the ground taking gunfire and mortar attacks washington was moving at a snail's pace. >> the report does include new interviews and recommendations but no major revelations. no smoking gun, if you will that directly implicates former secretary of state hillary clinton. >> i wrote the report that i think is centered in the facts. >> but it does argue that clinton should have realized the risks and addendum released by two conservative members is about clinton and critical of her and the obama administration blaming the attack on the "tragic failure of leadership." >> when secretary clinton says what difference does it make, we can now as a result of our work over the last year-and-a- half tell you exactly what difference it makes. it makes a difference in how you respond to an attack. >> democrats on the committee call the report a conspiracy theory on steroids. clinton brushed it off today. >> i will leave it to others to

characterize this report but i think it is clear. it is time to move on. still republican jeremy trayhanding says this is nothing to do with the election. speaker ryan has never asked me to do going about 2016 politics. speaker boehner asked me what happened to four of our fellow citizens and i have done that. well happening today. the presumptive democratic presidential nominee will be in san francisco. tomorrow as a matter of fact hillary clinton is attending a fundraiser with jamie lee curtis. the tickets will range from 500 to $27,000 depending on how much access you like. this is clinton's first area to the bay since winning the california primary 3 weeks ago. at 4: 21, let's talk bay area baseball. well, the a's continue to get the better of their cross bay counterparts.

program of cooling off. the inland spots, baby steps and you feel it around the bay area. it will be much cooler. was cooler yesterday and we broke the back of the heat wave that we have had. going nicely through the holiday week. finally breaking the heat wave spell here is a live look temperature a little bit of fog making it out there and indicating that the onshore flow having teeth to it. there you can see what happened overnight making it to the valleys aggressive going forward. 58 for concord and 64 antioch and 60 for livemor and as lofties a the numbers may seem they are reduced this time from yesterday. most of the readings in fact negative numbers, half-moon bay is about where it was this time yesterday. negative three for example, for hayward and negative one for oakland. off to a cooler start. optimistic look. san francisco's break down, mother nature's a/c is there.

struggling to reach 60s for the early afternoon hours. and the game by the way speaking of which this time it is in oakland. the a's and the giants, 7:05 and temperatures middle 60s and a cool breeze. not as chilly as at&t park as we have a few degrees added to that. here is a warmup. you can see the progress in the central valley where the triple numbers will be found in large number basically most inland spots today for us and we will be in the 90s over the hills and you can see on the east bay shoreline pretty much of a 70s story and some 60s. there's the cool down and you can see the progress of this cooler air making it to the inland valleys. much progress than we have seen in the last few days. 8 hours forward and 63 by noon and talking 82 and these numbers seem reduced and optimistic look. here is a look at traffic. robin has that. >> looking good. no major problems. hot spot free for those of that you need to get to san

francisco, here is a live look at the ride approaching the plaza and a smooth commute out of the bay and into downtown san francisco. let's go to the san rafael bridge. nice and light. no problems heading into the north bay. it will be 8 minutes from the pay gates out to the 101 connector heading to san rafael. across the golden gate bridge smooth and looking good from the north bay. no major problems for nevada. mill valley and sausalito and a nice ride to san francisco and on to doyle drive. let's check in on some drive times. checking your commute and looking good for 237 west and no problems for north 85 and 101 from 237 and sunnyvale to 92 heading to san mateo, a quick 16 opinion trip. james. all right. robin thank you. 4: 33. resetting the top story. a terror attack in istanbul

have left a number of people killed and injured. there is an isis propaganda video that focuses on san francisco. the video has been circulating online and shots of the golden gate bridge and some other san francisco landmarks. right now the f.b.i. says it is evaluating the video and where it originated. kron4 talked with an expert that says it may in fire a lone wolf attack like the one in orlando. >> this is the isis propaganda video that focuses on such high profile places in san francisco such as the golden gate bridge. >> i think that the concern is that it is someone that is taking this video and it has the appearance of being real. >> rick smith is a former f.b.i. agent and he says the bureau looks at this kind of propaganda dissecting each frame for valuable clues. >> we have a look at what other intelligent sources and human intelligence and technical intelligence would give them in terms of what is happening in san francisco.

they would look at sources that they had and suspects and they would look at traffic and they would look at all sorts of stuff. the local f.b.i. office is saying right now that they do not believe that the video poses a credible threat. however, smith says that the release of the video and the arabic attack such as the case of omar ma teen, the gunman in orlando. >> if something is suspicious it should be report to the f.b.i. >> you have to understand we have been a nation under attack for many years. >> san francisco police spokesperson carlos freddy says it is critical these day on the heels of orlando in general to be extra cautious. >> we always say if you see something, say something. better to be cautious than complainant. >> at the golden gate bridge

tourists say that they are always on the alert. i think in these times you do have to be more alert in the day of our surroundings unfortunately. another bay area headline california voters will decide the fate of recreational marijuana in the state this coming november. it could mean the entire west cost would have legalized pot sales. kron4 spencer blake has details on this initiative. >> secretary of state alex baduda says proponents of legalized marijuana got more than enough signatures to get it on the november ballot. the same thing that california voters turned down in 2010. this time it does have plenty of funding and support from big names including former facebook president sean parker. here is how it would work. if it passes 21 an older people can buy an ounce of marijuana but it has to come from licensed outlets and adults could grow marijuana plants up to 6 for personal use but

nobody would be able to smoke pot in any place where tobacco is already outlawed, that would be restaurants and bars and other closed places. it could be a big moneymaker for the state. the lieutenant governor's office has been backing an initiative like this one for a couple of years now. we sort of led the pack in terms of his support but i think you know that the rest of the country seems to be catching up with him increasingly there has been growing -- a growing ma the jo of californiaians that have demanded and asked for a new approach to marijuana policy in california. local governments would still have some say on this because counties and cities could ill prohibit pot in their areas if they wanted to or if they allow it. they could add additional taxes and fees. so far this year the only two or states that have a legalized recreational pot measure on november's ballot are nevada and maine.

uptake. robin what about traffic. >> picking up at the bay bridge plaza to san francisco, quiet for the westbound ride on 80. by the time you get to the suspension span you will notice cal tran work under way the two right lanes blocked off but not impacting the commute. checking in on 92. a live look at the san mateo bridge. it is nice and quiet. let's go to the golden gate bridge. maybe you want to come from the north bay into san francisco. the commute direction on the left, that's south 101 and at 101 and limit so far, less than 25 minutes to the toll plaza. the drive time on the east shore. 80s looking good from the upper east shore to the lower east shore. no problems for south 680, dublin or fremont, 14 minutes to get from the 586 split to mission south and that's a

great ride and coming out of the south bay on the quad da loupe a quick trip from 85 to 101. 4: 49. this week kron4 news taking part in unprecedented media event where 71 media outlets joining forces to spotlight on the homeless problem in san francisco and the bay area. taking a closer look at a new measure on the november ballot to allow law enforcement to remove homeless in certain encampments. spencer blake spoke with the coalition on homelessness and some people that say it won't solve the problem. >> the homeless problem is not going anywhere in san francisco but the tent cities might be depending on a vote this fall. supervisor farrell's plan would let police clear out encampments as long as they provide written notice 24 hours ahead of time. the city would have to open a bed or shelter before telling

a new mexico family has a unique way of punishing their teenager son forcing him to stay in that tent right there in their yard. the parents say the son is a thief and keeps stealing from them and now some neighbors call the punishment excessive but the teen's parents say they are running out of options. >> we are not doing anything wrong. we are simply trying to teach our child a lesson. >> if he doesn't learn that now it will be the world's problem not just ours in a couple of years. the parents' teen says he stays in the ten during the day and fed and he has the water he needs and can use the bathroom and he goes inside at 9:00 each night to sleep. his punishment will last a month. a reminder you can watch the 4th of july fireworks right here on kron4. the coverage starts at 9:00 at night. we will be along the embarcadero in san francisco and as well as other locations throughout the bay.

stand and listen to historical tidbits about topics like the civil war and american presidents. the rising third grader loves history and has loved it since he was 3 years old. many of his family members served in the military. his mother says that part of the reason he is so patriotic is the fact that he has got family history with the military and he loves that stuff. he plans to keep the stand up and running all summer long. we will take a quick break coming up, the terror attack in istanbul. the latest details on that coming up in a minute. we have team coverage of that attack in what american officials are doing to help keep us safe. we will be live at sfo. safety concerns in the east bay after two teenage girls are hit while walking. we will have that story coming

the passengers at the istanbul airport scrambled. terrified as gunmen attacked the airport. two were at the international tournament -- terminal and the third was in a nearby parking lot. all three open fire before detonating explosives. video from inside the terminal shows people fleeing and bright spot -- and bright flashes. at one point i gunmen shot by security officer and drops to the floor. a few seconds later, there is an explosion. witnesses described confusion and fair -- fear inside the airport.>> there were people falling on the ground calling out. >> i recognize the gunshots and there was a huge explosion and a new immediately that it was a bomb. i bolted as fast as i could.>> reporter: isis is expected to be behind the attack.

there is no claim of responsibility. the group called for attacks during the holy month of ramadan which is in its third week.>> i was just trying to figure out what happened and who did it. i won't comment further other tend to say that the first challenge. -- >> reporter: the turkish president has declared today a national day of mourning for the attacks. now we have team coverage of the terror attacks and what officials in the u.s. are doing to keep us safe.>> at sfo how airports in the bay area are beefing up security in the wake of the attack.>> reporter: they have extra security and patrols and they are used to it at sfo and at airports across the

country. they tell personnel to keep eyes open and be mindful of the environment. if you expect -- if you stay here for too long, they will tell you to move on. this is especially right after a terror attack. we do know that a wave of passengers from istanbul arrived last night and more should arrive around 4:00 this afternoon. for whatever reason, according to the duty manager, it was one hour late, but there were no problems with that flight or any others. in the meantime, they will do extra screening when you go through the airport. they will make sure that all systems are working to make sure that all flights are safe. other flights are not taking off for overseas to other destinations even though this is the domestic terminal -- the international terminal. their domestic flights as well.

we did talk to one passenger a few minutes ago. >> ever since 9/11, whenever you fly, it is a security risk. you know, there is not much i can do and it is really up to my higher power to decide what my future is going to be and the only thing i can do is to get here on time and go through security and answer questions that they may have.>> that is exactly -- >> reporter: that is what the duty manager said. get here on time and be mindful. do not joke about anything because they are on mindful -- on high alert. it is already busy at the international terminal. the next flight from istanbul to sfo should happen around 4:00 or 5:00 in the afternoon. there is a quick turnaround and that takes off back to his temple around 6:00 or 7:00.

southwest breeze at 5-10. i 9:00 a.m., 67 in the inland valleys. they temperatures in the upper 60s. let's check with robin for the traffic detail. >> i've not found any hot spots yet as you drive to san francisco. it is looking good coming out of oakland and smooth through the toll plaza and the upper deck into san francisco. all connectors are fine. 80, 24 and the nimitz freeway. all looking good through the connector. this is the only construction traffic i can find westbound headed to livermore. that is normal and there are no major problems there. then going to the interchange, it is clear with no problems for 680. right now the time for 580 w. is 15 minutes. safety concerns in the east bay this morning after teenage girls were hit by a car while walking

it brought daylight in oakley. >> one girl died and the other is in critical condition.>> reporter: it is a nightmare for any parent. one teenager dead and another in critical condition following a deadly crash in oakley. this is video from the scene. it happened about 2:45 in the afternoon where the teenage girls, ages 15 and 17 were walking through an area with no sidewalks. that's when they were struck by woman driving a station wagon. her car ran off the road it was found 150 yards away in a field. one teen was found dead and did not have id on her. police are working to identify her. the other teenager was airlifted to a hospital in oakland where she is being treated for serious injuries. the driver has been detained at not charged with anything. they have not released her

identity. police are checking to see if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash and they are not sure of that yet. i will be here in alameda to as parents about what they are doing to keep their kids safe, especially after school is let out this year.>> we will check back with you later, avery. two women and four children were killed in a fiery crash in southern california. two the area fathers had to watch as their kids -- bay area fathers had to watch as their kids died in a crash. this happened on i-5 in the community of gorman. they hit a bmw. they were stopped on the right shoulder as the fathers were outside of the vehicle. a big rig came and smashed into the minivan and pushes down an embankment where caught fire. the fathers were from san francisco and daly city yuri they try to get to their wives and children to get them out of

the van but they were not able to because of the intensity of the flames. the men were airlifted to a nearby hospital with minor injuries in burns. the big rig driver was not injured. a man is dead after shooting your san jose state university. the shooter is on the loose now. let's take you to the scene. you can see what the bullets did. the shooting happened on the street outside the fraternity and sorority houses at the university around 2:00 in the afternoon.>> there were 3-5 gunshots, pop, pop, pop. this was on greek row. it was right in front of the houses and they were in range of the gunfire. >> reporter: no arrests have been made and police have not released descriptions of the shooter. a witness did see an suv speed from the scene. the shooting near the san jose campus came one day after a net -- another deadly shooting in san jose. we first broke the story

leandro and it is a good all the way to foster city and san mateo. across the golden gate, it is foggy, but it is not impacting your right. checking in on drive times, just a little bit of slow traffic around the bay area and nothing major right now. looking at 580 w., the drive time increases, but it is under 10 minutes. headed west, fantastically no problems in antioch and headed tour contoured -- concorde. an 18 minute ride from -- to sunnyvale. it is 5:17 and survivors of sexual assault will hold a rally outside the building for judicial performance. they are calling from the remote -- for the removal of judge persky from the bench. he sentence brock turner to six

carport near interstate 80 around 11:00 yesterday morning at wallace avenue and lincoln rd., west. firefighters are not sure what was in the shed or the carport, but they were burned down and there was about $60,000 of damage. they burned power lines which made it more difficult but the fire out. they don't know the cause yet. only on kron 4 . police need help in finding suspects in a violent armed robbery.>> reporter: it happen on january 17 at the five guys restaurant in concord. we have the surveillance video of the robbie year -- robbery and the have not shown that to the public until now. >> this was a robbery that happened back in january. the case went cold because there is no further investigative leads. oftentimes, every few months, investigators open the cases again and they go through the

reports and through any evidence that we have. we like putting the information out there if we have nothing else. luckily, nobody was severely injured. the suspect got away that day. we know that there was somebody out there with information to help the investigators. kron 4 spoke with the manager of the five guys restaurant and he said they have been in business for years and this is the only time they have been robbed. it is 5:20 right now. california or voters will decide whether or not to legalize recreational marijuana. there are enough signatures to qualify for the ballot. that means one in every six americans will live in a state with legal marijuana sales, including the entire west coast. the measure as voters 21 and over to approve pot that

bombings yesterday. they are looking for clues as to who is responsible. there is cell phone video from the passengers and the airport regarding the chaos and the fear inside and outside of the airport. in all, three bombs went off at the airport. istanbul is one of the busiest airports in the world. they were carrying guns and they opened fire on travelers before detonating themselves. take a listen as witnesses describe the sense of confusion and fear in the airport is the attack was happening. >> i tried to keep his calm as possible, but there were people falling on the ground. >> i recognize the gunshots and i heard a huge explosion and i knew immediately that it was a bomb. i just both it is fast as i could. >> reporter: investigators believe that isis may have been involved. it calls for attacks during the holy month of ramadan which is in its third week right now. the airport closed overnight

-- speaking out about the investigation into an east bay special needs school. this came after kron 4 had a special report on al of the gate -- allegations about abuse at tobin world. you can see a teacher's aid getting physical with a nine- year-old student. the investigation was initiated by the bureau of justice. it investigates the treatment of children with disabilities or possible civil rights violations. we did not have specifics about the investigation, but we do know that investigators are looking for more victims. >> to encourage victims to come forward and to let the public know that these children do matter. we want to know what is going on with them and we are concerned. we are doing something about it. >> reporter: so far, tobin world has not responded to the claims. one parent filed a lawsuit against the school for the way her son was treated. the attorney. general. said that parents can come forward through the bureau of justice website . we have

posted a link to the website on kron4.com gang members behind bars in connection with the deadly shooting outside of a first communion celebration and samler rando . -- san leandro. the shooting was at 7:30 in the evening on may 16. investigators believe that the shooting stemmed between -- from a long-standing feud. about 40-50 people were attending this first communion party at the senior center at the time of the part -- at the time of the shooting. he was a validated member of a gang and a minivan was seen speeding out of the parking lot at the time of the shooting. a crash to a nearby car and the people in the van fled. police found a loaded gun and link three people to the shooting. they arrested roberto riel as well as to juveniles. they will decide on june -- on

it is 5:44 and here is a look at the top stories. 41 dead and over 150 people are dead after the terror attack at the airport in istanbul. no terror group has claimed responsibility, but isis is expected to be behind the attack. a teenage girl is dead and another girl was injured after they were hit by a car while they were walking in oakley. they were hit by the curb in an area where there are no

sidewalks. the driver was driving erratically before hand. two women and four children were killed in a fiery crash on the south side of los angeles. to fathers were outside of a van after a fender bender and they tried to get to their wives and children after the minivan was hit by a big rig. they were unable to get to the van because of the flames. the families were from san francisco and daly city. the time now is 5:44. we want to look at the traffic which should not be too bad yet. >> not too bad. it is slowing down. take a look. you can get to san francisco. no longer at the limit as a lot of folks are headed noon. this is normal for 5:45 in the morning. the suspension span and skyway looking good. it is only backed up at the toll plaza at the oakland side and the san francisco side looks great. i can tell you that is only eight minutes from the toll to the 101. here is the drive time of eight minutes. clear on 80 and 580 and out toward san rafael, no problem.

how about those drive times? highway 4 is picking up in the westbound direction. it is only 17 minutes from antioch to concord. no problems for 580 w. which is under 30 minutes. coming out of the south, no major trouble spot so far. when no one is looking good. also 880 is at the limit and 280 is a nice ride from cupertino. an easy 10 minutes. thank you robin. we have seen cooling happen around the bay from yesterday's performance. here's a live look at where the numbers stand. 51 for san francisco and oakland at 56. warm in antioch at 63 by comparison. finally getting some cooler air off towards the eastern regions. as we warm up today, we returned to the upper 90s in many locations. most will be restricted for much of the central valley. then a cool down tonight, some

of the cool air will spill to the valleys. better than what we have seen. as far as total cooling, not what we have been looking for and tell this weekend when all players are in place for a good strong offshore flow. we are getting an offshore flow to the east and there is monsoon moisture bubbling up which you can see. it may produce isolated showers for some of the mountains as you head to the -- some of the mountains. as you head to yosemite, you may see that tonight and tomorrow. 72 in san mateo and 78 in redwood city. palo alto at 78. no pitas at 77 and santa clara at 74. there is a slight change with that. here's the east bay shoreline. 78 for hayward and 67 for oakland. 92 for danville and livermore and 96. you can see pleasanton at around 94. it is a little bit of an improvement and better as we

with dozens of media outlets to put light on the issue. all lanes of highway 17 in the santa cruz mountains are open after the wildfire croaked -- close both sides of the highway as we reported on the kron 4 morning news. one southbound lane of highway 17 was still closed all yesterday morning right up until last night as firefighters were watching for hot spots. at one point on monday, the highway was completely shut down because it was so close to the fire. you could see the smoke in this video from the helicopter in our partnership with abc 7 news. you can see the homes that were saved. investigators say that the fire started as a car fire and spread to nearby brush and trees. the fourth of july is around the corner and firefighters are worried about illegal fireworks this year with the increase fire risk a rock -- across california.>>

smooth out of castro valley. i will look at the san mateo bridge in the next report. 6:06 and safety concerns in the east bay after two teens were hit by a girl in broad daylight in oakley. >> they were hit by a car and one died and the other is in critical condition. xavier harper is live in alameda this morning. averi. >> reporter: yeah we are here at washington park and i will show crowe what's -- you what's next to the park it's a street with a crosswalk things that are marked for pedestrians. this is not like where the girl was left dead and another in critical condition after a deadly crash in oakley. we have seen video from that yesterday. take a look. teenage girl is 15 and 17 years old were walking in oakley in an area with no sidewalk at 245 in the afternoon when they were struck by a woman driving a station wagon. car ran off the road and was found 150 yards away in field.

she was seen drive erratically before the crack crash. one of the teens was pronounced dead at the scene and didn't have id on her. and last check police were working to identify her. the other teen was airlifted to a hospital being treated for serious injuries. the driver has been detained but has not been arrested or charged with anything so they won't release her identity. police are checking to see if drugs or alcohol was factor in the crash. coming back out here live, i will be here at the park this morning to talk to parents about safety tips when they let their kids out especially now that school is out for the summer. i will be here to update you throughout the morning. back to you in the studio. >> thanks averi. and two women and four children from the bay area are dead after a fiery crash in southern california of the two bay area fathers had to watch as their wives and kids died in the wreck outside l.a. you can see the aftermath of the crash.

it happened early yesterday morning on i-5 in gorman. the minivan hate bmw and was stopped on the right hand shoulder. shortly after, a big rig barreled into the back of the minivan pushing it down a embank man where it burst into flames. the fathers were in the front seat and smashed by the big rig. they were able to get out and tried to rescue the wiebs and children but weren't able to because of the intensity of the fire. the two men were airlifted to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries. big rig driver was not injured. happening right now, police in the south bay are look for the person who shot and killed a man near the san jose state university campus. james fletcher is at the breaking news desk with details. >> reporter: that shooting happened outside several fraternity and sorority houses near campus. one man was killed and another was injured. and this is video from the scene and you can see damage to the window here on the side of the vehicle. the shooter is still on loose this morning. so police are desperately

searching for him. police say this happened in the street outside the fraternity and sorority houses at 2 yesterdaya noon. >> i hear a quick 3 to 5 gun shots and it was a pop and a pause and pop, pop and didn't seem like fireworks. it was in front of two houses azd and it was in front of the house in range of gunfire. >> reporter: no arrests have been made in the case so far. police have not released a description of the shooter. witnesses said that they saw an s-uv speed away from the scene. now this is the latest shooting in this area. 24th homicide so far in san jose this year and to put it in perspective, at this . last year they were dealing with 10. so a huge jump from last year. we will continue to follow the story and as soon as they issue a suspect description we will come back here and let you know darria. >> thanks james. and a shooting near san jose state one day after another deadly shooting in the

-- al-qaeda and might do something. that's the only thing that we have. a san francisco police spokesperson are aware of the video and it's critical to the extra vigilant in the wake of the orlando shootings and say police are ready and out looking for anything or anyone suspicious. and happening now crews are still on the scene of a train collision in texas. several people are missing this morning. james fletcher is following that. >> reporter: this morning three people are unaccounted for. search crews looked for them throughout the night as firefighters battled flames at the crash scene. we have video of the site we can share this morning many look at the smoke billowing from the point where the freight trains collided. this was yesterday. investigators say flames are blocking efforts to search some of the wreckage this morning as they continue to look for the dosh -- for the missing crew members. the trains were on the same track headed straight for each other tuesday when they collided and there were two people on each train so four people total, one person was able to jump from the train

before they collided and he is lee covering -- recovering at the hospital but the other three are still unaccounted for. the ntsb is investigating the crash and we are getting word the federal railroad administration says it has aninvestigator on-site as well. this is two agencies hopefully will get to the bottom of this. and as we get new details we will come back. firefighters recovering from injuries after a condo fire in redwood city that started around 7 yesterday morning on farm hill bull vard. the fire burned -- boulevard. fire burned on the top floor of a 3 story condo complex. the firefighter was injured and putting the fire out and taken to the hospital for treatment. in vallejo a fire destroyed a shed and carport near interstate 80 after 11 yesterday morning on wallace avenue near livingon -- lincoln road west. they don't know what was in the carport or shed because they were completely burned down.

and there's downed power lines in that area which made it difficult for the firefighters to do their jobs and investigators think the fire may have been started by a cigarette. over the weekend the cigarette sparked another fire that destroyed one home and damaged others in antioch. to a story only on kron 4 police need help finding people involved in a violent armed robbery on january 17th at five guys restaurant in the clayton valley shopping center. we obtain the surveillance video of the robbery. investigators have not shown the images to the public until now. >> yeah so this was the robbery that happened in january and it is a case that went cold. because there's no further investigative lead. so, oftentimes every few months investigators open the cases again they go through the reports and any evidence that we have and we like to put the information out there if we have nothing else. luck will you no one was is you

rock bottom with majority of the nations ranking him in the single digits. and confidence in hillary clinton on the other hand was right around 59% on average. so interesting numbers coming in this morning. guys. >> thanks james. it's 6:35. state attorney general kamala harris is speak about the investigation into east bay special needs school after a kron 4 special report on allegations of abuse at that school called tobin world in antioch and in the video you see a teacher's aide getting physical with a 9-year-old student. the investigation was launched by the bureau of children's justice focusing on tobin world and the treatment of students with disabilities. and investigators are looking for potential civil rights violations. harris couldn't give specifics about the investigation but she says investigators are looking for more victims. >> to encourage victims to come forward. and to let the public know that these children do matter. we want to know what's going on

with them and we are concerned and we are doing something about it. >> so far tobin world has not responded to the allegations. one parent filed a lawsuit against the school for the way her son was treated. attorney general harris says victims can come forward through the bureau of children's justice website. we have posted that link on kron 4.com. and three reputed gangs members are behind bars in connection with a deadly shooting in san leandro. a 28-year-old was shot outside the san leandro senior community center at 7:30 in the evening on may 16th. here's video from the scene. investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a long- standing feud between rival factions of the gang. about 40 to 50 people were attending the first communion party for a baby at the senior center and he was shot outside he was a member of the gang. and a minivan was seen speeding out of the parking lot and

crashed into a car and the people signed fled. police found a loaded gun and evidence linking three people to the shooting and arrested 25- year-old villarreal and two juveniles. police will present the report on the shooting to the alameda county da's office this morning to decide on charges in the case. he is due in court this afternoon. lake temescal is closed and swimming has been banned until frgt notice. they found toxic algea in the lake on monday night that can cause rashes and skin and eye irritation and gastrointestinal problems and bed itly for dogs so make sure if you walking your dog in the area keep them away from the water. the rest of the park around the area is opened for walking dogs picnicking and hike and the like. coming up to continue the series on the oldest problem in the bay area more on new ballot mashure that aims to help -- measure that aims to help

mow at 91. step by step and we drop off heading into the weekend. we have a bit of an onshore flow so maybe coasta drizzle in the morning patchy at that mixing out to a mostly sunny afternoon. so, don't worry about that. bay area temperatures mid-70s. and then into early next week we warm up temporarily on monday. tuesday how about the 86 going on for the inland valleys and chilly at the coast. robin what's going on with traffic. >> reporter: slow traffic into san francisco thanks to an incident on the skyway. it continues to back up behind the toll plaza. trns out it's not a crash it's -- turns out it's not a crash it's stall someone ran out of gas blocking the right lane and backing up across the upper deck through the toll plaza and pretty crowded coming out of the maze. so, now it's holding at the maze and 25 minutes into san francisco. and once again that stall is cleared so that should loosen up. there it is once the stall clears out of the way on the skyway should pick up heading on the bay bridge into san francisco. it's not a bad ride. it's just slow because of that.

job or you know, come back and everything you had is gone. >> reporter: the coally -- coalition listed several problems with the idea. first they say homelessness is a social issue that shouldn't be handled by police at all. they say it's piewn if i have a violation of civil human rights and on top of that ineffect knife they will do a sweep and they know with to go and then people shift like a block away. >> reporter: human rights organizer says the required offer of a bed or shelter wouldn't work because it would take spot away from one of the 800 plus people on shelter wait list. so is there a better option to clean up the streets? >> i would reduce money spent on i mean enforcement policy and that money transferred to a policy that provides affordable and supportive policies. >> reporter: but right now the budget for housing and urban development is not growing. but the number of homeless is. more than 6600 people are still

living on the streets in san francisco. spencer blake, kron 4 news. >> and the proposed ballot measure in san francisco would impose a tax on tech firms to pay for affordable housing and homeless service a san francisco supervisor says it would generate 120 million dollars a year. the measure targets the perception that influx of well paid tech workers fueled housing crews and fueled evicks it will require 6 votes from the superviseor on november ballot and 2/3 majority vote to within approval by voters. we will cover the flight of the homeless this week long so stay tuned to kron 4. we have stories all week and we will join force was dozens of other media outlooks to focus on the important issue. and the highway 17 in the santa cruz mountains are backopened after a wild fire closed both sides of the highway a brush fire broke out on monday afternoon near the redwood estates community. one southbound lane of 17 was

sill closed until yesterday evening as fire faters watched for hot spots. on mont highway was completely shut down in the area because the fire was so close to highway 17. you can see the smoke from our helicopter partnership abc7 news and the video and the firestarted as a car fire and spread and threatened homes. the force of july is around the corner and firefighters are worried about illegal fireworks because of the fire risk we are seeing across the whole bay area and california. bay area cities started to sell safe and sane fireworks yesterday. not every community allows them. but kron 4 was in dublin where fireworks are legal. and cal fire is warning people even though the fireworks are dubbed safe, they can be dangerous. over the past 5 months more than 2500 fires have been sparked by fireworks burning thousands of acres destroying homes and causing injuries. so before you buy the fireworks make sure they are legal and make sure they have a -- you

good morning. the breaking news we've been following out of istanbul, turkey, where the ataturk airport. >> they got there by taxi and

blew themselves up. first, open fire. some of the people ended up running toward some of the bombers. there were 239 people injured and 109 of those people have been reallied from the hospital this morning. the governor's office said 37 of the victims killed have been identified as of right now. ten of them were foreign nationals. witnesses heard gun fire followed by explosions and saw people who were badly injured. no one has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, but investigators believe it was, in fact, isis. >> we want to go live to istanbul now. here's the very latest on this terror attack. >> reporter: the operations have resumed here at ataturk international airport. we're seeing flights slowly returning to this major transportation hub, one of the busiest airports in the world. we saw a cleanup operation under way. they were trying to restore a
